What happened?
...
What is this place? It all seems so cliche, but this isn't home
My mind is a buzz with questions as new as the environment I find myself in. I was awake a moment ago, I'm of it, I explain to myself, So... just how did everything change so suddenly?
I know where I'm from, and I know who I was.
I was the average college student, making his humble way through the task of growing into an adult. Beyond this, there was nothing unusual about my life.
Sure, I had my hobbies. My friends and family spiced life up and made it exciting, that's for sure.
What I wouldn't do without them...
Where are they? Reaching for my phone, I come to the unfortunate conclusion that it simply isn't there. I sit there, looking around in that lush, pastel green forest to see if I had dropped it close by. Nowhere.
Situations like these really aren't good for my anxiety, my heart and mind start racing faster than I can keep up with. It's overwhelming.
I've never had a panic attack, and this certainly wasn't it. May very be the closest thing to it, however.
Luckily, I'm able to calm myself. I remember those words of advice from the people I care about, and stand up.
What else could I do?
I look up towards the light blue sky, leaning against a soft brown tree that seems as though it's made out of cotton. I take slow, deep breaths as I do this, there's quite a lot to process here. After a few relaxing breaths, I look closer at the area I find myself in.
It's- kind of... adorable?
"Huh," I softly mutter to myself, "Not a bad place to find myself in." I take somewhat of a relieved sigh, taking every positive I can get.
As I look, I realize that I'm at the edge of a forest. At least, that's what I could make out of a small town through the flourish just told me.
I softly smile to myself. For someone whose lost, I sure am pretty lucky.
Maaaybe I should've waited a bit longer before I thought that...
Because as soon as I stepped out from that foliage, I felt this sudden wave of nausea overpower me, and fell.
Were those... ponies I saw just now-?
The lights went out
This couldn't be good
She was besides herself. On one hand, she was looking at something totally familiar to her. On the more logical point of view, the human she was looking at is completely alien to Equestria.
"So- Uhm... Do you recognize it?"
Twilight managed to snap out of it, turning to her Pegasi friend who had anxiously brought her out here. The yellow pony simply sat there puzzled and confused, hoping for an answer.
"Sorry about that, Fluttershy. Guess I was caught off-guard," Twilight apologetically stated.
"Oh, I don't mind at all. I was just as shocked as you when I first found them here."
"It's not normal, that's for sure. They're definitely something I recognize, but they're not supposed to be here." Twilight proceeded to take a few hoofsteps forward the human, noting that there's no way they should've been in Equestria. The mirror should've been sealed, shouldn't it? She wondered to herself, before turning back to her friend.
"Thank you for telling me about this, Fluttershy. I don't know how, but it looks like this creature- this 'human'- somehow found its way into Equestria." Fluttershy responds with a soft smile, "Of course! well, uh, it's not dangerous... is it?" Twilight responds with a light head shake, much to the Pegasus' relief. "From my experience in the mirror world, humans tend to be on the nicer side, 'please be on the nicer side' so we shouldn't worry about them harming anypony. Still, though. I would like to report this to Princess Celestia as soon as possible."
Fluttershy nodded in agreement. "I sure wouldn't like this poor crea- uh, 'human'. Sorry. To get hurt..." She thinks for a second. "Do you think it would be alright if I help them recover at my cottage?"
"I don't see a problem with that!" Twilight glances over towards the unconscious human for a moment, "'Never judge a book by its cover', they say, but this human doesn't seem harmful at all. Though I suppose you could use some help getting them back to your place, I doubt they'll wake up any time soon. I'll help you!"
"That would be just wonderful, Twilight. Thank you!"
The two friends make their way to Fluttershy's cottage back through the forest with the human, careful both NOT to hurt the human or to let anypony see them. After successfully and gently getting the human onto one of Fluttershy's beds, Twilight waves goodbye to her friend and makes her way to send a letter to her former mentor, Princess Celestia.
As she leaves, Fluttershy looks back at the human now in her care and trots over to them, placing a hoof on their hand. "You poor thing, you feel cold! Here, I'll get you all snug and covered up." Setting the human up with what they need, she could've sworn she saw a dried tear on their right cheek.
I woke up to the sound of an opening door, finding myself tucked into to a bed just big enough to fit me. I look around for my glasses that seem to have fallen off, spotting them on just beside myself. Everything just looks so blurry without them on.
Re-adjusting my vision after both waking up and putting on my glasses, I truly take in my surroundings. I first notice that the place seems to be a cozy little cottage, at least that's what I thought I could gather. Beyond that, I felt far too groggy to pick out the rest of the details. However, I could make out a few voices.
"Princess Celestia! What an honor to have you here!" Said a soft, almost squeaky voice.
"The pleasure is all mine, dear Fluttershy. I came along with Twilight as soon as I heard the news."
"They're just in the other room, princess. Fluttershy and I wanted to make sure they wouldn't be harmed or cause any panic." I heard what sounded like shoes make their way over to me, making gentle clip-clop noises on the way over. I sit myself up, ready to meet the people who had possibly just saved my life.
I couldn't have been caught more off-guard. This was not what I was expecting...
"Welcome to Equestria, my friend"
