Flames of Friendship
Chapter 10
Previous ChapterNext ChapterLove and desire
It is common for friends who grow close to mistake the two. However, while desire may be the first emotion the two share. The closer the two become, the greater the emotions become and faster desire can turn to love. It is easy at this point for the friends to move to the next level. Especially when on trips to different locations.

Another day had come to an end by the time the group got out of the forest. Sadly, it quickly became obvious that they wouldn't make it to town before it got too dark. Luckily for the ponies, Blitz was a dragon and was able to light some torches to help light the way. Or at the very least let any pony that would possibly pass by.
"On the plus side we can see the lighthouse." Blitz pointed out as he placed a lit torch on the cart.
"Do you think we should make camp?" Zipp asked. "My legs are getting tired."
"If the guards don't mind the trip. You can rest on the cart. Or I can carry you." Blitz suggested.
"We can keep moving. But I don't think we'd be able to pull the carts." One of the guards sighed.
"I can pull it." Blitz replied.
Zipp blushed at how chivalrous he was acting. "And how would I lay on the cart that's already full?"
Blitz smiled and reached under the cover and moved a few things around before pulling out a blanket and pillow. "It might not be as comfy as a bed. But it's better than the cold ground." He smiled and held out a claw.
Zipp smiled and hopped onto the cart letting him put the blanket over her before placing the pillow under her head. "Ok hot shot. Best get us to town. If we're lucky, we'll make it by morning."
Blitz nodded and strapped himself in before starting for town.
As the sun was rising, the group arrived in town. The guards stood with Blitz as a stallion approached.
"Hey!" He called. "You must be Blitz. I'm Hitch. The sheriff of Maretime Bay." He announced before turning to the guards. "Thank you guys for helping them get here safely."
The guards nodded and yawned. "Probably a good idea if they got some rest." Zipp laughed as she stretched and got off the cart. "Think you can bring the boys and the cart to the lighthouse, Hitch? I would like to show Blitz around town… if he's not too tired that is."
"I just need to grab something before we head out." Blitz informed before pulling out a pouch of gems and one of bits and putting them in his saddlebag. After grabbing the scepter, he turned to the guards. "Ok. You can take the rest to the lighthouse."
Hitch strapped himself in and led the guards up the road as Zipp led Blitz into town. "Come on. We can get a smoothie and I can introduce you to some of my other friends."
"And talk about… you know…"
Zipp bit her lip before smiling as the smoothie cart came into view. "Oh look. There's my friend now. Let's talk after we have a smoothie. You'll love it."
"How much are they?"
"Don't worry. This is your first time in town. So don't worry about it." Zipp laughed as they arrived at the cart. "Hey Sunny. Two smoothies. One for me and one for my friend."
"Hey Zipp." Sunny replied with a smile. "The usual?"
"I think I'll try something new today." Zipp replied. "Got any idea on what you think Blitz would like?"
Sunny thought for a moment as she looked him over. "Banana strawberry swirl?"
Zipp and Blitz glanced at each other before nodding to Sunny. "Two of those then."
"Coming up." Sunny replied as she started mixing the drinks. "By the way. It's nice to meet you Blitz. I can see what all the talk is about."
"Talk?"
As Sunny handed over the drinks, Zipp quickly paid and took the drinks before ushering Blitz away. "Thanks Sunny. But we should get going. Still plenty to see."
As the two left, Sunny leaned over the counter and watched him closely. "Come back any time!" She called.
Zipp brought Blitz over to a picnic table and sat down. "Ok… looks like we're alone… for now at least." The two took a few sips before smiling at the flavor. "Leave it to Sunny to make an amazing smoothie."
The two laughed as they enjoyed the calmness of the park. After a few moments the two shared a glance. They both knew they had to talk about what happened in the woods. And how they felt.
Looking around, Zipp moved so she was sitting next to Blitz before talking softly. "I guess now is as good a time as any to talk about it." She sighed. "Neither of us regret what happened." Blitz nodded in agreement. She took a deep breath and looked around. "I know it might sound weird. But…"
"I love you too." Blitz cut in softly as he wrapped a wing around her. "And we can move as slow as you want."
Zipp's muscles clenched at his words as a sudden burst of heat passed through her body. She only partly noticed their empty cups before she turned and pulled him into a kiss. "I'm not going to deny how I feel or what I want."
"And that is?"
"Let's see how things go. But I don't think it'll be easy for us to hide that we're together." Zipp replied. "And if you're going to be in town. We'll need to get you a place. And you know what that means."
The two smiled before getting up to continue the tour.
Journal entry 123
Zipp's friends were surprisingly welcoming. And after seeing us make our way through town for a bit, so was the rest of the town. It was rather nice to see the lessons of the past are still being used today. Out of all her friends however, Izzy seemed the most… familiar somehow. I have yet to meet her sister. But from what I heard… Something tells me these girls have a reputation of sorts. Don't yet know if that's a good thing or not.
