Flames of Friendship
Chapter 3
Previous ChapterNext ChapterThe purple glowing mare introduced herself as the Spirit of Harmony. "I feared that when the magic of this land was locked away. This place and I would be forgotten. But I am happy to have been proven wrong. Thankfully the keys that I helped the princess make were reunited."
"Wait. Locked up? Keys?" The young dragon sat as his head started to hurt from the unexpected flood of information. "I don't understand. I thought the princess made the crystals to hold the magic. And when the tribes separated, the magic disappeared."
The spirit smiled and shook her head. "It is understandable that you would see it that way. But what many have forgotten. Magic can not simply disappear. In order to protect it and those that live on Equest. We had to lock it away. And the only place that much magic can safely be held is within the very roots that gave this land the Elements of Harmony."
"You mean the tree?"
"Correct." She confirmed. "My roots extend far and are unbreakable with the magic changeling within them." She turned and looked off to the distance. "Now that Harmony has returned. I can feel the magic flowing as it was meant to. And no longer locked away."
"So… now that magic has returned. What does that mean for you?" He asked softly.
Sighing, she shook her head. "I will likely remain with the tree and the castle." She replied. "I will not hold up hope for others to return. But as I have to those before you. I wish to welcome you to the tree and to return here whenever you wish."
Smiling, he got up and ran a claw over the table. "I kinda wish you weren't just a ghost. I would give you a hug for all that you've done for us over the years."
"As a wise mare once said. I am full of surprises. As I grow, I change and will be able to do more amazing things." She replied before giving a playful wink.
Journal entry day 100
I sat with the spirit of harmony and found out that the three tribes moved to locations along the east coast. I didn't understand why. But it doesn't really matter. What was interesting was that the pegasi were the ones that had a queen. Not only that, but two of her offspring traveled between two locations. And likely saw my excited burst of fire. There's no doubt that someone will arrive by tomorrow. Thankfully the spirit told me there was a room that was marked that had been kept in perfect condition from the last time it was used… by the elder. I excitedly thanked her and found the room. I'll explore it after I get some sleep.
The next morning, the young dragon spent a few minutes exploring the room. Even though it was emptied of anything the original resident had. He did find several things the previous resident had left in their rush. One thing he found was a picture of five creatures that looked like they were great friends. Along with a few gems he found in the nightstand. He was only able to guess that the dragon in the picture was the one who stayed in the room before him.
Taking a few gems as a snack, he made his way out to the map room to find a group of pegasus guards looking around in wonder as a mare examined the table. Clearing his throat, he stepped into the room. As everypony turned to face him, their eyes widened in shock at what they saw.
"Welcome to the Castle of Friendship." He announced. "If you want to learn about its history. I can show you to the library."
The guards stood in shock as they kept their guards up. The mare however slowly stepped past them, using her wing to single them to stand down. "Thanks. Name's Zipp." She looked him over for a moment and smirked. "I never saw anything like you before."
"Blitz. I'm part dragon." He replied. "I'd rather not get into it." He laughed nervously before motioning with a wing. "It's not far."
Zipp smiled and followed him as her mind rushed with possible reasons of how he was part dragon. Not only that. But was there a way she could rub this in her sister's face? After all she would do the same in seconds given the chance. Now that she thought about it. Getting a selfie with him would be a great start.
Moving up next to him, she smiled as a plan formed in her mind. As well as other thoughts she rather not say out loud. "Say… want to see something cool?" Seeing him nod she pulled out her phone. "It's called a phone. It lets me stay in touch with friends over a long distance. Pluss." She put a hoof over his shoulder and pulled him close as the other held the phone up. "It takes pictures." She said before snapping a short and letting him go.
He watched in amazement as she brought up the picture before smiling. "That's neat. And really useful. Question is…" He said as they got to a pair of large doors. "Will it have space for this?" He asked, pushing the door open to reveal the library. Zipp's jaw dropped as he flew into the middle of the room and smiled back at her. "How long did you say you were going to be in town?"
Author's Note
Not much to say about this chapter. But I think there's quite a bit that is coming up. And Friendship is only the beginning.
