Flames of Friendship
Chapter 5
Previous ChapterNext ChapterThe following morning Zipp and the guards prepared to travel back to Maretime Bay. With the books Blitz gathered for them, there was plenty of new information for them to share with the other ponies in town. Even in the other towns once they get the different books copied.
Zipp sat and watched the guards before glancing over at Blitz. "So… you want to see what pony life is like now?"
"I would. But…" He paused and stood so she got a good look at his body. "I don't know if they'd be cool with something like me just trotting down the street."
Zipp rubbed the back of her neck. "Well… my mom and sister already saw you. And by the time we get there. There'll be plenty of ponies that would like to meet you."
Blitz thought about what she said as they made their way to the front door where the guards waited with the carts. "It's up to you if you want to come with us."
Blitz looked back into the castle and saw the glowing mare on the map through the open doors as she smiled and nodded. Turning to Zipp, he smiled and nodded. "I'd like that."
Zipp and Blitz led the way as the guards pulled the carts.

Journal entry day 102
After we packed books about Equestria before the separation. And a few chosen books for each of us and Zipp's friends, we headed out to start our journey to the place called Maretime Bay. From what they said. We'll be there in a day or two. As long as the weather remains favorable.
Most of the walk was spent talking about how life was like as Blitz and Zipp grew up. They even shared a few laughs along the way.
"And then he said. That's not a rock. That's my sister!" Blitz finished. Zipp laughed as the guards prepared the tents. Looking at the setting sun, he let out a soft sigh.
"I guess you don't get to see many sunsets or sunrises in a cave." Zipp sighed as she sat with him, looking at the sunset.
"No… but the gems do a nice job at reflecting light to us." He laughed.
The guards sat back and smirked at each other before going into one of the tents. "It's getting late." Blitz pointed out. "You should get some sleep."
"What about you?" Zipp countered. "It's going to get cold."
Blitz smiled and blew a flame at the dying campfire. "I think I'll be fine."
Zipp smirked and rolled her eyes. "Very funny. But I still think you should sleep in-" She froze when she noticed only two tents were up and the guards had already taken one of them. "We can share the tent… somehow."
Blitz looked between her and the tent before sighing. "You're not going to let this go. Are you?"
"Nope." Zipp replied with a smirk. "You might be able to breathe fire. But that doesn't mean you won't get cold."
Sighing, he smiled at her and nodded. "Fine. You win. I'll share the tent with you."
As the two entered the tent, the guards poked their heads out to see what was happening before slipping back into the tent. "You think we're overstepping our boundaries?"
"Well… we did just make it so they shared a tent." Shrugging, the guards curled up in their sleeping bags. "Let's hope Zipp doesn't kill us for hiding the other sleeping bags."
Zipp and Blitz looked around in the hut. It was clear that they wouldn't be using sleeping bags. Because there wasn't any. Taking a deep breath Zipp turned to Blitz with a nervous smile. "Looks like there's a slight problem. I'll see if I can dig out the other bags."
As soon as Zipp stepped out of the tent she glared at the guards' tent as she made her way to the wagons and looked through them. After a few minutes she sighed in defeat and returned to her tent, plotting a punishment for them and them pulling this trick.
"No luck?" Blitz asked.
Zipp sighed and sat in the door. "Sadly no." She sighed. "Hopefully the tent will keep out most of the cold."
Blitz moved to the center of the tent and laid down, extending his wing. "Best not take any chances."
Zipp blinked in shock before laying next to him letting him wrap his wing around her. "Thank you Blitz…"
"No problem. This should keep you warm." He said softly. He did his best to ecnor the fact that he was now alone with a mare. And not only that, but he was also pressed against her. Zipp for her part was trying to pretend she was anywhere but pressed against a guy. It took some effort on both parts, but they managed to fall asleep.
Author's Note
And so the trip to Maretime Bay begins. I wonder what what will happen when they arrive. Or what will happen before they arrive. So many possibilities.
