Author's Note
As the long description says, this technically takes place in the same continuity as Who Framed Roger Rabbit?, though it isn't a direct crossover, and you don't need to have seen that movie to understand this one. In this fic, all cartoons that have ever existed are actors that live alongside humans.
Initially, I was only going to make three entries to this contest, one featuring Judy, one featuring Krystal, and one featuring Loona.
As you can see, I changed my mind. I'm going for the Quintet bonus. I found a way to write Lola Bunny that I, personally, found interesting. To me. This weird, experimental, meta thing you're reading now is the result of that.

Back in the Nineties...
The set was pretty impressive, Lola had to admit. My Little Pony had a reputation around the rest of the animation world for being...well, saccharine. Sickeningly so, some less kind people and toons would say.
The one for this particular musical number, though, was anything but. The buildings of this Klugetown, a mix of 2D and 3D animation and still images, looked run-down and dull. The toons designed to fill the scene out looked like a truly unpleasant bunch.
All except for one. A smirk slowly rose over Lola's muzzle, raising her whiskers, as she watched the dapper toon work his charm. He looked like a cat that walked on two legs; between the red coat that had been drawn to look tattered but stylish and the rakish grin that met his pretty green eyes, Lola had an idea of exactly what his artists were going for. It worked, she thought, especially when Taye Diggs's silky smooth voice began to croon from his delicate feline maw.
The moment was ruined when one of the Klugetown extras tripped, landing face-first into the side of one of the ponies, a pink one with a large curly mane. The whole thing came to a crashing halt as the director called "Cut!"
Lola grimaced a bit, but then held up a gloved hand to stifle her giggle. Human attitudes towards toons had changed a lot since Space Jam had come out; a few of the people from the filming crew had run in to check on the well-being of the two toons. Whether they were new and didn't know just how tough toons really were or if they simply cared more, she wasn't sure. The Klugetown extra looked extra apologetic to the pink pony; she'd sprung up to her hooves with a 'boing' sound effect and a huge grin, completely unharmed.
It didn't matter how small and cute they looked, they were still toons. It would take more than that to seriously hurt one.
It looked like filming was finished for the time being. The charismatic cat stepped from the animated scene and into the real world. It was always something behold, Lola thought, watching toons cast shadow and pick up light just as the humans around them did. Seeing her opening, she sauntered up behind him.
"Looks good so far," she said.
He turned, and his eyes widened. "Why...you're Lola Bunny!"
She chuckled, resting her hands on her hips as she tilted them. "Looks like my reputation precedes me!" And she wasn't too proud to understand what a reputation it was. Perhaps her most recent role had been ditzy, but in real life, Lola Bunny was anything but stupid. She knew how people, humans and toons alike, looked at her. "And you are?"
"Charmed. Very charmed." The cat held a paw out to her. She politely placed one of her hands in his. "The name's Capper. What brings you here?"
"Curiosity." She paused before sighing. Why bother lying? "And boredom. I'm...between projects right now."
Capper nodded, placing his other paw on top of her hand. She could feel the warmth through the fabric of her glove. "Well, you came to the right place. You know how it is; it's always anything but boring on set." Maybe it was Lola's imagination, but his smile turned a little shy right then. "I have to admit, I'm a bit...starstruck. Having someone with so much experience and history with the industry, here..." He shook his head, as though he couldn't believe his luck. "The things you must have seen, the stories you must have..."
Lola quirked her head to the side, allowing her ear ponytail to sway behind her. "Oh, do I ever. Would you...like to hear any?"
Capper's thumb had begun stroking the top of her hand. He flicked his face to the side, drawing her gaze with half-lidded, beautiful green eyes. "Of course, my dear. What say you and I get out of here? It'll be my treat."
Really, how could Lola say anything other than 'yes?'
My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic was a cartoon that was supposed to take place in a different world. Sets for such projects had to be so big and so elaborate that, at a certain point, they stopped being sets and started being whole places of their own. Many of the toons on this show actually did live here. Between filming, Lola saw that there were many in the cute cobblestone streets of Ponyville. Not just pony extras, but toons from other properties and humans alike.
She supposed she couldn't be surprised, she thought as Capper led her to one of the cafes on location. One only had to pay attention to any news going on in the human world...so many things were going wrong, she couldn't blame any of them for wanting to experience some peace and quiet in this little slice of paradise.
"It's all so peaceful," she sighed as the pony waiter with an over-the-top fake French accent seated them.
"Isn't it?" Capper looked down at the menu between his paws. The way his eyes glazed over, clearly lost in thought, made Lola suspect he wasn't reading a single word on it. "I come here every once in a while between filming to clear my mind."
Lola frowned. She was tempted to ask what the plans were for him after filming for the movie had wrapped up, but decided against it. Warner Brothers was often a harsh, unforgiving company to work for, but from what she'd heard, Hasbro were far from a walk in the park, themselves. She'd heard horror stories about their ironclad contracts...
She distracted herself by reading down the menu, eyebrows peaking up towards her blonde bangs as she found something that looked good. When their waiter came back around, she said "I'd like a dandelion and daisy salad, please."
Capper asked only for coffee. He gave her an interested smile when their waiter left. "Nothing with carrots, eh? That's a surprise."
Lola chuckled. "That's something Bugs and I play up for bits. Truth is, they're...not actually my favorite." She folded her hands on top of the table. "Interesting thing...apparently carrots aren't that good for real life rabbits. Too many of them is like a whole bunch of candy for a human."
"Is that so?" Capper leaned forward, letting his furry brown face rest in the open palm of his paw.
She shrugged. "I've done some research. I think a lot of animal toons do."
Capper chuckled. "I see what you mean. They want to avoid showing me eating in the movie. They're, uh...worried it might confuse people, with the whole 'cats being strict carnivores' thing." He gave a somewhat melodramatic sigh. "Suppose I'll just have to starve. I'll be all skin and bone by the time filming's done."
Lola couldn't help herself. She laughed, a full belly one. It was an obvious joke. Toons weren't humans; they didn't have to eat, they simply liked to. She feigned wiping a tear away with a finger. "You know, the whole 'bunnies with carrots' thing started off because of Clark Gable? Bugs was in a cartoon parodying his movie It Happened One Night."
Capper had laughed along with her. Didn't matter how much things changed, there was one truth that most toons held near and dear to their animated hearts: laughter was contagious. "Did, uh...did you ever get to meet him? Clark Gable, I mean, not Bugs Bunny."
Lola rolled her eyes. "Please. Clark Gable passed back in Nineteen Sixty; Space Jam came out in Nineteen Ninety-Six. I'm not that old." The faux indignance gave way to something else. Something more...wistful. "Though it sure feels like it sometimes..."
Capper shook his head. "Oh, dear...I didn't mean--"
Lola sighed. "It's fine, it's fine." She looked down at the table with a sad smile. "When I was first...created...for Space Jam, Bugs was basically my mentor behind the scenes. Kind of got on my nerves, talking about how I'd be looking back on 'the good old days.'" She used finger quotes to illustrate her point. "I always used to tease him about being such an old guy, a relic and a fossil, how he couldn't seem to get with the times. Well...lately, it kind of feels like the other shoe dropped, huh?"
Capper reached across the table to take one of her hands. "It's a blessing, though. Isn't it? Being able to live this long, see this much?"
She gave him a wry smile. "Yeah...you say that now..."
He looked like he was about to respond to that cryptic statement, but he was interrupted by the pony waiter, who set their food down before them. She'd seen bits and pieces of the cartoon before; the way the directors and editors made the pony toons' hooves work with this more modern setting was honestly creative. Sometimes they relied on cutaways and sight gags, but right now, their waiter had balanced a tray on one perfectly flat raised hoof just before sliding it across the table cloth.
Older toons and humans complained about Flash animation, but the 2D green salad looked appetizing enough to Lola. The waiter had, thankfully, remembered to bring silverware. Opening your mouth wide and swallowing your food whole like a snake was one of the oldest tricks in the toon book, but Lola didn't feel like that was very appropriate right now.
"You know..." Capper lightly blew some steam away from his mug. "You just called Bugs Bunny your mentor...There are those under the impression you two were, uh..." On one paw, he crossed two of his fingers.
Lola blinked slowly before a smirk slowly crossed her mouth. "Oh...Oh, you don't know..."
Capper frowned. "Know what?"
"This is...kiiiiind of an old secret. It's been an open one in the biz for...well, decades now. Way before I came along." Lola nibbled thoughtfully on a bit of dandelion green, trying to think of how best to put this. This was what this new up-and-coming toon star was here for, after all: old stories. History. Gossip.
This was the sort of thing that needed to be savored.
"So, part of the reason I came around was because it was the 90s. That was the, uh...I guess you'd call it the Grrl Power movement; they wanted a positive female role model character for the Looney Tunes."
"A positive female role model that flirtatiously tells other bunnies not to call her 'Doll' while wearing crop tops and short shorts?" he asked with a smirk of his own.
Lola grinned. "So you did see Space Jam!"
"Of course I did. You're...an important piece of animation history, you know." Was it just Lola's imagination, or did Capper's cheeks turn a bit rosy there?
"That's nice of you to say." She meant it; it really, truly did make her feel good. "People point out that parts of my big debut are...dated nowadays, but I think the writers behind it meant well." It meant something at the time, having a female toon be better than male ones at sports. Granted, they'd had their cake and tried to eat it, too, having her saunter seductively around in those revealing outfits, but still.
She shrugged as she stabbed a piece of lettuce with her fork. "It was the Nineties. It was a different time, you know?" She pursed her lips, continuing to think carefully. "Which brings me to this...Another reason they wanted a more prominent female Loony Tune was...well, they wanted a love interest for Bugs."
Capper frowned. "Didn't he already--?"
"A more...regular one. One that wasn't there for just one episode. A more modern one, remember. Because...well...They wanted him to have a specific image. Rebrand him as wholesome and child-friendly." She snorted at the incredulous look on Capper's face. "I know, I know. Bugs Bunny, wholesome and child-friendly. Just bear with me for a bit. In those days, that meant...convincing everyone he was...straight."
Capper blinked slowly. Steam had stopped rising from the opening in his mug. "...Straight."
Lola nodded. "Mm-hmm."
"So...he's...?"
She scoffed. "I don't know why that surprises so many people...He's been dressing in drag for decades." Granted, it had always been for a joke. She supposed that might have rubbed people the wrong way nowadays, but like she'd just said, they were all having to get used to new social norms. She knew she was certainly having to, no matter how she might balk at the implication that the Nineties were old. The Looney Tunes Show, at least, had put a nicer spin on that old gag, having Bugs say he 'liked the height heels gave him.'
"So...those rumors I heard...about him and Daffy?"
She nodded. "All true."
"Huh..." Capper sipped his drink. He looked like he was deep in thought now, too. "I saw some of The Looney Tunes Show." He grinned at her over the lip of his mug. "Loved it, by the way."
Lola beamed. "Thank you." If this charming rogue of a toon was trying to butter her up, he was succeeding.
"I know you were there as an on-again-off-again girlfriend. That yellow duck girl, too. But I always felt like there was...something...there between Bugs and Daffy. I mean, they were playing roommates in such a domestic setting, and well...I'd been wondering..."
"You were right." She'd jumped at the chance to be in The Looney Tunes Show. She'd heard musings that she'd been brought in, again, to try to make things more heterosexual for her old friend and mentor. She didn't know how true that was; she hadn't asked any of the directors or writers. All she'd known was that she loved the script of thisnew Lola Bunny. Many preferred her original appearance, sexy and sporty and hating sexist pet names, but the new ditzy version had been an interesting change of pace for her. Of course, she knew fans found that version annoying, but plenty of others liked that she had, in their words, 'a real personality' and was 'actually funny.' Maybe a lot of them meant well, but Lola couldn't help feeling that was a bit of a backhanded compliment.
It was all her, after all. It was all Lola Bunny.
"Fascinating. See, I thought you were full of stories."
Lola giggled. "You don't work in this business for almost twenty years without having at least a few."
"Well, I can't claim to have nearly as many as you, but..." Capper pointed to one of his adorable pointy ears, which flicked back and forth as if on cue. "I manage to catch a lot of what goes on around here. Those two background ponies? The ones fans call Lyra and Bon-Bon?"
Lola didn't know much about Friendship is Magic; she'd only caught a few episodes. But she did know about those two, strictly because of the fans. "Oh?" she asked, having an idea she knew where this was going, but still eager to learn.
"It's true what they say. They are an item."
Lola grinned. "And how about, uh...the cellist and the DJ?"
Capper nodded. "Oh, yes. For the last few years now."
"Good for them!" Things had definitely changed since the early Nineties. It was nice to see, Lola thought, that many of them seemed to be for the better. "You've gotten to know these ponies pretty well, then? Which one's your favorite?"
Capper sighed in thought. "Well...I'd have to go with Rarity."
Lola frowned. She'd seen some of the show, but not a whole lot. "I'm sorry...which one is that?"
"The white one. The fashionable one." Capper took a sip of his coffee. "Don't mean to give spoilers, but she's supposed to do something generous for me. It's the moment that turns me from 'selfish scoundrel' to 'thief with a heart of gold.'"
Lola nodded. "To go with the plucky, elegant lady. Classic dynamic!"
"I've spent more time with her than the other regulars. I guess she and I are close enough that you could call us friends." He smirked over the lip of his mug. "The magic of friendship and all that. It's cheesy, I know."
Lola couldn't help feeling a bit defensive. "Hey now, there's nothing wrong with cheese." Maybe she was more tolerant of the cartoon Baby Looney Tunes than others, even if it was only because she'd been in it, albeit as a much smaller, squishier, more marketable version of herself. "The whole show is like that, isn't it? And it still seems to be going strong. So there must be something about it that appeals to people."
"True...true. You're right, of course. That's a good way of looking at it." Capper took one final swig of his coffee and set down the mug. "So, going back a few topics...You and Bugs aren't together, then?"
"No. The people at Warner Bros. wanted us to be, and we could act like it on screen, but we never really...clicked that way. I think the very idea made him feel like a dirty old toon. Which, I mean...He's existed since 1940. He lived through World War II. I officially came around in1996. Truth is, we just didn't have a whole lot in common."
Capper leered at her, those striking green eyes promising sin. "Is there...anyone else, perhaps?"
She knew exactly where this was going. It was what she'd been hoping for. "Nope. I'm very single." She leered right back at him. She had nearly twenty more years of experience doing that than he. "Alllll by my lonesome."
"Well, you know...if you'd like to change that...tonight..."
With a start, Lola realized she'd finished her salad. "Mr. Capper, are you trying to seduce me?" Of course he was; that was what he'd been doing since they met. This wasn't Lola's first show.
"Perhaps." He gazed up at her through heavily lidded eyes. "Is it working?"
"Yes. Very much."
Without looking away from her, Capper reached into one of the pockets in his coat. When he opened his paw over the table, a handful of gold coins fell out. "I told you. My treat. What say you and I...?" He gestured over his shoulder with his thumb.
Lola stood and took his paw. "Lead the way."
The door to the bed and breakfast just barely closed before Capper was on her, attacking her neck with kisses and running his paws over the sides of her body.
Lola gave a breathless laugh at his eagerness. She edged her way to the center of the room, allowing him to never take his paws off of her. The bed hit the back of her knees, and the two of them went tumbling down onto it. She laughed as he landed on top of her, smiling as he raised himself up on his elbows.
"So, uh..." He cleared his throat. "How do you want to do this?"
"Let's start with this..." Lola said as she lifted her yellow crop top over her head. She supposed she could have twirled about and come out of a toon tornado transformed, but she felt like doing it this way more. Toons had a 'rule of funny,' but they also had a 'rule of sexy.' And right then, she felt like being sexy.
"Nice...very nice." Capper reached for one of her breasts with an open paw, pausing just long enough to give her a questioning look with his eyes. When she nodded, he began to palm it, massaging with his thumb until a nipple, the same shade of pink as her nose and ears, emerged from the cream-colored fur. He leaned forward to take it with his mouth. Lola sighed in both content and relief; Capper's designer had given him claws on all his digits, but thankfully hadn't made his tongue rough and sandpaper-y like a real cat's. The warmth and wetness felt nice, she thought; it had been too long since she'd tended to these particular needs.
One of Capper's paws had settled on her waist; as he continued working with his tongue, Lola felt that paw creep down and down until it reached her hip, near the waistband of her short purple shorts. With his other, he began to pay attention to her other breast, pad of his thumb gentle but firm as it stroked through the fur, searching for the other prize.
Lola had always appreciated when past sexual partners paid attention to her breasts. Her animators had given her a very noticeable pair, after all; it seemed a shame to just ignore them. As Capper continued to lick and stroke, she grew more and more aroused, aching more and more between her legs. Not wanting to let someone else do all the work, she reached for Capper's shoulders, tugging at the collar. "Hey..." she managed to get out. "Don't want to be the only one exposed, here..."
Capper chuckled, his breath warm against her now damp chest. "I hear you." He backed away just enough to give himself the room to begin shrugging out of that coat. She reached out to help, sliding it down his arms. With only a little more movement, the coat slid down his back and to the floor next to the bed, and he now leaned over her completely nude.
"Nice," she said, a little breathlessly. She reached out and began to run her fingers through the thick fluff of the feline toon's chest. "Your artists knew what they were doing," she said absently. "You're so...stylish. Just, really pleasing to the eye."
Capper chuckled. "Thank you. You're..." His eyes ran over her body. She could make out that he was following the lines where the cream colored fur of her heck, chest, and stomach gave way to peach. "Well. That means a lot, coming from you." He settled between her open thighs, where he hooked his fingertips beneath the waistband of her shorts and began to tug. "Everyone had a crush on you back then...I know that much. Right here and now?" Lola lifted up her legs, helping him pull her shorts off, down the fur of her long, curvy legs. "I can see exactly why. By Faust's name, you..." She spread her legs again, allowing him a generous view. "You're magnificent. Absolutely perfect."
She chuckled. "'Faust?' Didn't know you were so well-read."
He shook his head. "No disrespect to Goethe, but I was actually referring to Lauren Faust. She was behind the first two seasons of the show."
"Ah." Lola's hand crept down, through the brown fur of Capper's torso, until it lay between his legs. She watched his eyes shiver closed as she began to palm him there. "I wouldn't know that...this..." She watched as his member began to emerge from the brown fur. "...is more my area of expertise." Yet again she was relieved; there were no barbs there, unlike a real cat.
"Oh, I can't wait." Now fully erect, Capper gently but firmly pushed Lola's hand away. He crouched down on his knees, sliding his hands beneath Lola's knees. "Are you ready?"
She smiled up at him. "Always." She had a reputation to maintain, after all.
Capper took that invitation, moving both of her legs over his shoulders. At this angle, it was easy for him to press between her legs, sliding in as he leaned forward. Now, with her body bent in half beneath his, he balanced himself on his elbows, his face now inches away from hers. The rakish grin from before faded ever so slightly. "Is this all right?"
Lola wrapped her arms around his shoulders, leaning up to press her muzzle against his in a light kiss. "Perfect," she assured. It had been a while since anyone, toon or human, had touched her there; the feeling of that warm thickness pushing into her, filling her up, was scratching an itch she realized she'd had for a while. "Go on. Get going, as fast or hard as you like." She crossed her ankles somewhere over Capper's back. "Trust me. I can take it."
He kissed her again as he began to slowly thrust. Lola leaned back into the pillow and closed her eyes, allowing herself to get lost in the feeling of a warm body over hers, inside hers, the sounds of "Ah...ah...ah" panting in one of her long ears. Capper's voice was beautiful; it didn't matter whether it was singing, speaking, or sweetly moaning. She reached up the back of his head, letting her fingers twist in the thick forelock of black hair. She gave a light tug, and was rewarded with a gasp and a sudden harsh thrust into her.
She kept squeezing Capper's hair with her hand; she used her other to twist into the bed sheets beneath her, needing something to ground her as Capper's pace picked up. Her heels dug into his back as he found something inside her, stroking with each thrust. "There," she managed to grit out. "More...please, more..."
Her begging urged the cat further, making him lean over further, putting more of his weight on his paws, putting all his energy into slapping his hips against hers. The air was filled with the wet sounds of flesh against flesh and a hot dick sliding in and out of a wet pussy with ease. Their bodies melded together sweetly and smoothly, filling the air with their pleasured moaning and groaning.
Lola shifted her hips, squeezing a few times, and that did it. She came, hot and wet, around Capper, almost involuntarily squirming her hips in time with her body's reaction. No words came out; all she could manage was soundless gasping.
Seeing, hearing, and feeling her hear apart beneath him must have driven Capper, too; he grunted, low and rough, in her ear as he reached his own peak, hips slapping against her in an uneven rhythm as he came inside her, hot and sticky.
They stayed like that for a few minutes, bodies connected, sharing this moment in the heat and softness and bright colors of his hotel room. Capper only pulled out of her after capturing her lips in a final kiss. She helped, releasing her jelly-like legs, allowing him to free himself before laying down on his back next to her. They shared their afterglow panting, trying to catch their breath.
"Well," said Capper. "There's a fantasy fulfilled."
Lola chuckled. "When you mentioned that everyone had a crush on me...are you everyone?"
He gave her a smile. "Oh yes. Most certainly."
Lola sighed, folding her hands on top of her stomach. Most animal toons had something called 'Cartoon Animal Nudity,' where their sensitive parts wouldn't be visible. Glancing over, Lola saw that Capper's had returned; he was just as flat between his legs as he had been when she'd first met him. Hers had come back, too. In true Looney Tunes fashion, she hadn't removed her gloves. Those never, ever, ever came off. "Well? Did I live up to the fantasy?"
"You certainly did. And then some!" Capper turned, perching himself up on his elbow to look over at her. "You have no idea how happy I am right now."
Lola sighed, content. "Well, you weren't half bad, yourself," she said, reaching over to stroke his furry cheek with one of her hands. "I'm not complaining."
"That's good. I'd...heard things."
"What sorts of things?" Lola had an idea she knew where he was going with this.
"That you'd...had many lovers." Capper glanced away from her eyes, looking guilty all of a sudden. "I don't know how much truth there is to that, but in case there was any...even if I wasn't the best you've had, I was still hoping to satisfy you."
Lola laughed. "Don't worry; you did. You were great." She sighed as she looked up at the ceiling. "I've slept around, if that's what you're implying. I'm a modern woman; I like sex, and I'm not gonna pretend that I don't."
"I see." Capper settled back onto his back. "I hope I haven't...offended you."
"No offense taken, don't worry." People had brought this up in much crueler ways before, calling her 'slut' or 'whore.' "I know what people think when they look at me. I still get fanmail all these years later, you know. Telling me how I was someone's sexual awakening back when Space Jam first premiered..."
"Is that so?"
"Yeah. I've made my peace with it; it's a living. If I fall into an acetone dip bath tomorrow and I'm remembered for the rest of eternity as 'the toon that awakened something in a whole generation of prepubescent boys?' Honestly, I'd be okay with that." Lola stretched her arms and legs before sitting up. "Capper...what are your plans for after this movie?"
The cat sat up in order to meet her eyes. "So far...not many. At most, I can look forward to a comic book deal, and the occasional cameo in Friendship is Magic proper."
Lola frowned. She'd been afraid of that. "I'm sorry..."
"It could be worse." Capper shrugged. "The contract situation for the Equestria Girls spinoff is even more complicated."
Lola worried her lower lip with her buck teeth. "I know this isn't why we're here, but...would you like my advice?"
He placed a paw on her shoulder, pretty green eyes lit up in interest. "Certainly! I'll listen to anything you have to tell me."
"Appreciate your fans. The attention you get won't last forever; if you're lucky, you'll always have it, but you'll get less and less of it over time."
"I can believe that...I'll keep it in mind." Lola had no idea if Capper would take her words to heart, but it did make her feel better, seeing a toon so young seriously listening to one her age. She felt him squeeze her shoulder in a way that felt comforting. "Thank you."
She gave him an earnest smile. "Thank you. You've made me feel like a young, sexy bunny again."
"Oh, believe me, the pleasure was all mine." His paw moved slowly from her shoulder and down the length of her arm. "If you're up for it, I would gladly do it again. What do you say?"
Lola giggled. "I'd be delighted." How could she deny him when he asked so nicely?
The animated sun was just barely peeking through the window when Lola awoke. Absently she remembered the mythology of this children's cartoon: one of the ponies raised the sun while another rose the moon.
It was all very charming and cute, Lola had to admit. She stretched before jumping out of bed, the sound muffled by the thick fur of her feet. She swept herself up into a mini tornado; once out of it, she was no longer naked, but bundled up in a thick purple bathrobe.
And her gloves. Always the white gloves. That was non-negotiable.
She heard a knock from the door. She looked over at Capper, who was still somehow asleep beneath the covers of the cozy bed, and then back at the door. She made her way over to it, tying the belt of the robe tighter around her waist.
Lola opened the door to find a grey, winged pony hovering on the other side. She blinked rapidly, thinking she'd made a mistake in what she was seeing, but no; the pony's gold eyes definitely did point in different direction.
"Um...hello?" Lola's brows furrowed in confusion.
"Hello, Ms. Bunny!" The pony's voice was airy and floaty, the sort of voice that was supposed to indicate that a toon wasn't all there. "It's eight o'clock; time for a complimentary breakfast." The pony managed to seemingly manifest a plate from nowhere, one piled with Flash-animated muffins. "Here you go!"
Lola looked over to the window. There was no way it was as late as eight o'clock; at earliest, she was certain it might just be past six.
Lola said nothing, though. She wasn't about to turn down free baked goods. She took the plate, then frowned. "I think I've seen you in the show before...don't you usually crash and make a mess of things?"
She shrugged. "Only when it's funny." With that, she fluttered back into the hall, leaving Lola to close the door behind her.
Well, at least these modern toons still know their stuff, she thought.
Glancing between the plate of muffins in her hands, Capper's sleeping form on the bed, and the sunlight peeking through the window, for the first time in a long time, Lola felt happy.
She made her way to a small table near the window, where she set down the plate. Lola gazed out the window as she took one of the muffins and, without looking, bit into it.
She wanted to laugh, but she waited until she'd chewed and swallowed. "Carrot."
