Caught

Midnight soon saw a crib next to the bed she was in. She looked at it wondering why it was there, then she immediately ran to the crib and picked up the hatchling inside. The young hatchling chirped angrily, she did not like getting picked up without warning. "I'm so sorry Monarch, I'm sorry I got us caught." Midnight said to her daughter. Monarch looked at her mother and chirped as she pressed her hoof on her mother's muzzle.

Midnight set her daughter back in the crib, she turned so her daughter wouldn't see the tears streaming down her face. Monarch chirped multiple times to let her mother know that she was hungry. Midnight wiped the tears from her face and turned to her daughter "Ok I get it you're hungry" she laughed as she extended her hoof. From one of the many holes in her leg a deep pink goo seeped out, Monarch greedily ate the pink goo.

After she had eaten her fill she chirped sleepily. Midnight smiled down at her daughter, then she turned and went to her own bed and laid down. She was far more tired than she thought. She closed her eyes as sleep took her.

In her dream

Midnight looked around, there were dead changelings everywhere. Midnight gasped in horror of the massacre in front of her. She recognized each and every one of them, they were her changelings, HER family and she had failed them. She went to Equestria in search of food, but Chrysalis ruined her plans. Midnight was going to ask for an alliance with the twin princesses. But now she couldn't, her hive was doomed. And there wasn't anything she could do...

Chirps could be heard nearby, and they sounded just like Monarch. "Monarch!" Midnight yelled out. More chirps could be heard, "Monarch, I'm coming!". She ran in the direction of the chirps. A blue changeling queen could be seen holding Monarch, and she was trying to force feed her. "Let go of my daughter!" Midnight yelled at the blue queen. The queen chuckled "You couldn't even save your own hive! And now you think you can protect your daughter? You couldn't even protect yourself if it meant lifting a hoof!" Midnight yelled at her again and again to let go of her daughter. The blue queen continued to try to feed Monarch, the young hatchling bit the blue queen. The queen winced in pain and yelled at Monarch "You little brat!" Midnight took the chance and attacked the distracted queen.
