Cargo destination unknown
Hi my name is Bo smith and I'm the captain of the Riverton. What is the Riverton you ask. Well it is an old iron hull keel boat built in 1840. She served the towns and city's along the Mississippi until 1889 when she got an upgrade. The Riverton received a small 80 hp two cylinder compound steam engine and a boiler. In 1975 she got electrics installed and a jib crane on here bow right behind her old 37 mm cannon. Now Enough about me on with the story.
The year was 2017 in New Orleans LA. The ss Riverton was being loaded with almost 12 tons of explosive cargo. This included 10 tons of dynamite and another 2 tons of nitro glycerin.
"How is the weather looking Dutch" Bo said to a man with a black beard.
"Well the reports say no storm activity" Dutch said back to the captain of the small 105 foot long boat.
Soon after about another hour of waiting the Riverton was given the all clear to cast off her lines and head up river.
"I want slow ahead on the engines Mr. roger" Bo said into a voice pipe on the back deck where her tiller bar was.
"Yes sir" Came the reply from the voice pipe as Rick Roger and his assistant engineer Zack Barlow started to open valves to get the engine running.
On the other side of the Riverton's bulkhead from the engine room was the boiler room where Cletus Lebow was firing the 4 by 6 foot boiler for the 200 mile journey up river.
"Ok where on the main channel, open her up rick I want half steam" Bo called into the voice pipe as he looked on deck to see the ships two deck hand Patrick O'Malley and his brother Shamus O'Malley.
"Yes sir" Rick called back up the voice pipe.
The atmosphere around the boat was shattered as Bo gave three long toots from the ships 3 chime steam whistle. After two days of good weather and nice steaming the ship pulled into a small harbor to restock here coal. Only taking two hours the ship continued her way up river until night time when she dropped anchor for the night with the whole crew going to sleep. Unknown to the crew a mysterious fog rolled in engulfing the ship and her crew.
The next morning the crew woke up and started there journey back up the river. As the came around a bend what they saw made there jaws drop. There in front of the was St louis city in ruins.
"What the hell happened" asked Patrick.
"I don't know" replied Shamus.
"Well lets go in and find out what happened" Bo said as he gave orders to head into the city's port.
"Rick when you get a chance I want you to get the weapons from the locker and pass them out to the crew" Bo called through the voice pipe.
"Ok I will" replied Rick through the voice pipe.
For those of you who don't know the Riverton has a small arsenal of guns to fend herself in case of pirates which was installed when she was rebuilt in 1889 and again in 1919. This include five 50-140 sharps rifles, four 50-110 Winchester rifles, ten 45 colt revolvers, ten 357 colt revolvers, four 500 smith and Wesson revolvers, seven m1911 browning 45, four 10 gauge shotguns, two 50 call browning machine guns, two bar rifles, and finally her 37 mm bow cannon. The cannon was put on her in 1919 after ww1.
As Bo and the crew docked the ship Rick came out and handed everyone a rifle a revolver and ammo. Shamus went and maned one of her two 50 Cal machine guns. Just then four monsters came out of know where. Before anyone could respond Shamus fired the machine gun and shot them all down before they could come within 200 feet of the craft. the men walked over to one of the creature and started talking.
Mean wile two creature had gotten way to inform there tribes about what they had witnessed.
"How is that possible" yelled a snake monster.
"I don't know but what if they come here" asked the monster who witnessed the slaughter.
"Well we will attack first lets go" the first snake monster said as the other snake monster followed her.
Back at the Riverton the crew where setting up incase more monsters attacked by having all there weapons on deck and ready to fire. Just then a rumble was heard as the men looked only to see a huge wave of monsters coming towards them.
"Oh shit" yelled Bo as the men grabbed there weapons and started firing.
The monster raced through the gun fire as the men tried to repel the attack.
"Rick get your ass in the engine room and give me everything she has" Bo yelled over the sound of gun fire.
"Right captain" yelled Rick as he dove under the deck and ran to the engine room to start the engine.
The rest of the crew started to undue the ropes holding them to the per as the engine rumbled to life and started moving the vessel away from the per. The engine coughed and spluttered as is struggled to push the loaded down Vessel up to speed but soon they where away and heading down river. Unknown to them a monster had made its way onboard.
"What the hell" was all anyone could here as Rick yelled from the engine room.
Just then the rear deck house hatch came flying open as a girl with red eyes pointy teeth and purple hair came out only to stop upon seeing that she was surrounded by water.
"Please don't hurt me" the girl said holding back tears.
Bo made his way over to the crying and and got down on his knee to talk to here.
"Hello what's your name" asked Bo
"Its twilight" replied the girl " Twilight sparkle".
"Hello Twilight can you tell me what you are and how old you are" Bo asked.
"I'm 21 years old and I'm a vampire" Twilight responded.
"Its ok we wont hurt" But Bo never got to finish his sentence as something flying by knocked his crew out.
Bo dove for the hatch to the cargo hold and waited to see what was happening.
"Are you ok Twilight" came a voice.
"Yes rainbow but they where trying to help me not hurt me" Twilight said back to the creature Bo could almost make out. Just then the creature transformed into a nice looking girl.
"Is it safe to come out now" Bo asked.
"Yes you can" Twilight replied.
Bo made his way on deck only to see something ahead. With out thinking Bo grabbed the tiller bar and moved it to the right causing the ship the spin to the left almost causing Twilight to fall overboard.
"What do you think your doing" The girl said as he grabbed Bo's shirt callor.
"I was trying not to run my boat into that tree" Bo said as he pointed to the semi submerged fallen tree in the water.
"Ops sorry" the girl replied as four other creatures appeared out of know where.
"Are you alright" Twilight asked.
"Yes I just need to stop the engine so we can talk since you knocked out my crew" Bo said as the girl with rainbow hair blushed.
Bo made his way down into the small cramped engine room of the vessel and shut steam off before heading back up on deck and lowering the anchor all the wile thinking about what the hell is going on.
