18. Party Crash! Fight At A Football Party!

Previous ChapterNext Chapter

The tension in the air was thick as the two rival schools gathered in the grand hall for the celebratory party. Canterlot High and Crystal Prep Academy were being honored for their outstanding football seasons and securing spots in the championship. The event, organized by the district, was meant to foster goodwill and sportsmanship between the two schools. However, the reality was far from the event’s intended purpose.

Students from both schools kept to their own groups, eyeing each other warily across the room. The Canterlot Wondercolts, including Y/N, Flash, and Bulk, were clustered near the refreshments, discussing strategy in hushed tones. Meanwhile, Crystal Prep’s Shadowbolts, led by Sundrop, held court near the stage, exuding an air of superiority.

“This feels... tense,” Rarity whispered to Y/N as she sipped on a sparkling drink.

Y/N nodded, his eyes scanning the room. “It’s like everyone’s just waiting for something to go wrong.” Y/N looked over at Sundrop who was talking with his teammates. 'And with him being here, anything can happen. I just hope he doesn't try talking to me, or any of my team members for that matter. I really don't want to deal with him. Let's just have a nice and relaxing time at this party and then tomorrow we'll settle everything on the field once and for all.' Despite wishing for that, Y/N had no idea what was soon to come.

The music shifted to a slower tempo as students began to relax and chat more freely. As Y/N watched others dance, he began to wonder if he should go over to Sunset and ask if she wanted to dance with him. Y/N was currently in the middle of a conversation with Flash and Bulk when he noticed movement out of the corner of his eye. Sundrop was making his way across the room, his focus locked on Sunset Shimmer, who was standing near the punch table with Pinkie Pie and Applejack.

Y/N tensed immediately. Sundrop had a reputation—not just as a football prodigy, but as someone who thrived on mind games. “Why’s he going over to Sunset?” Y/N muttered, his voice low but sharp.

Flash frowned. “I don’t like this. He’s up to something.”

Sundrop approached Sunset with a confident smirk. “Sunset Shimmer, it's so good to see you again. Did you miss me? I'm sure you have.”

Sunset’s eyes narrowed. “No, Sundrop. I haven't missed you. In fact, I loved our time being away from each other. So let's continue it that way.”

“Aw, don’t be like that,” he said, stepping closer. “We’re just talking. No harm in that, right? Just two friends reconnecting, what's so wrong with that?” Sunset moved to leave, but Sundrop grabbed her wrist, his grip firm. “C’mon, don’t walk away. I’m just trying to get to know you.”

Sunset yanked her arm, trying to free herself, but Sundrop tightened his grip. “Let me go! I am not your friend nor will I ever be! I can't believe I dated someone like you.”

Across the room, Y/N saw the interaction and immediately started walking over, his jaw clenched. Flash and Bulk followed close behind.

“Hey!” Y/N’s voice rang out, drawing the attention of nearby students. “Let her go, Sundrop.”

Sundrop turned slowly, his smirk widening. “Well, well. If it isn’t Canterlot’s golden boy. What are you gonna do about it?” Sundrop walked right up to Y/N, puffing out his chest as he looked down at Y/N. "You never did anything back then and you won't now."

“Last warning,” Y/N said, his voice steady but firm. “Let. Her. Go.”

Instead of complying, Sundrop shoved Y/N back with one hand, finally releasing Sunset’s wrist. “You don’t scare me, Y/N. You never have and never will.”

Y/N stumbled but regained his footing quickly. He stepped back into Sundrop’s space, the two face-to-face and neither one backing down. The shoving escalated as Sundrop pushed Y/N again, harder this time. Y/N retaliated, shoving Sundrop back. The room erupted into gasps and murmurs as the tension boiled over.

“Y/N, don’t—” Rarity started, but her voice was drowned out by the growing chaos.

Sundrop, seeing the fire in Y/N’s eyes, was momentarily taken aback. “What’s this? You’ve got some fight in you now?” Sundrop smirked. "Maybe you have changed, even just a bit."

“I’m not afraid of you anymore,” Y/N said, his voice low and dangerous. Flash and Bulk stayed behind, they knew this fight was between Sundrop and Y/N but if things got out of hand it was certain they would jump in.

Sundrop’s smirk faded as he raised his fist, his teammates behind him if anything happened. “Let’s see about that.”

Before Sundrop could land the punch, Y/N ducked and delivered a clean uppercut to Sundrop’s jaw, sending him staggering back. Time seemed to slow down for Y/N as his punch made contact with Sundrop's jaw. Something he had wanted to do for so long, he finally did it. He fought back and punched Sundrop.

The punch was the spark that ignited the fire. Flash and Bulk immediately stepped up to back Y/N, while Crystal Prep’s team rushed in to support Sundrop. Within seconds, the party devolved into a full-on brawl.

Tables were overturned, drinks spilled, and the room became a chaotic mess of shouts and flying fists. The music cut off abruptly as students scrambled to either join the fray or get out of the way.

“Guys, stop!” Rarity shouted, trying to get Y/N’s attention. “You’ll get in trouble for this!”

But the fight raged on. Sundrop lunged at Y/N, who sidestepped and countered with a shove that sent Sundrop crashing into a nearby table.

“You’ve been asking for this,” Sundrop snarled, getting to his feet.

“And you’ve had it coming,” Y/N shot back, his voice filled with years of pent-up frustration.

The fight reached a boiling point when Sundrop, desperate to regain control, turned toward Sunset. “Let’s see how you react to this!”

He raised his hand as if to strike her, but Y/N was faster. He stepped between Sundrop and Sunset, his fist connecting with Sundrop’s face in a powerful punch that sent him reeling.

“That’s enough!” The shout came from a teacher who had entered the room, accompanied by a security officer. “Everyone, break it up! Now!” The announcement of adults in the room had an immediate effect. Students backed away, the fight dissolving as quickly as it had started.

Both teams retreated to opposite sides of the room, bruised and breathing heavily. Sundrop glared at Y/N, a mix of anger and surprise on his face. He hadn’t expected Y/N to stand up to him, let alone fight back with such ferocity.

“You’re going to regret that,” Sundrop hissed, wiping blood from his lip.

“Not as much as you will on the field,” Y/N replied, his voice steady.

Rarity grabbed Y/N’s arm, pulling him back. “That’s enough, Y/N. You don’t want to ruin your chance to play in the championship.” Y/N nodded, taking a deep breath to calm himself.

As the party dispersed, Sunset approached Y/N. “Thanks for standing up for me. I didn’t know he’d... I didn’t think he’d do something like that.”

Y/N gave her a small smile. “No one messes with my friends. Especially not him.”

Sunset nodded, her gratitude clear in her eyes. “Just be careful, okay? He’s dangerous, and he’ll do anything to get under your skin.”

“I know,” Y/N said, glancing across the room where Sundrop was glaring at him. “But this ends on the field. Once and for all.”

As Y/N and the rest of the Wondercolts left the party, the reality of the upcoming championship set in. This wasn’t just a game anymore—it was personal.

For Y/N, this was about proving that Canterlot belonged at the top. For Sundrop, it was about crushing his rival once and for all.

The stage was set for an epic showdown—the Wondercolts vs. the Shadowbolts. The championship title was on the line, and both teams were more determined than ever.

Rarity and Sunset watched as Y/N left with Flash and Bulk. Once she was sure Y/N was out of hearing distance, Rarity continued to look forward but spoke nonetheless. "That certainly was kind of Y/N to get in the way before Sundrop hit you Who would have guessed Sundrop would do something like that? Don't you think?" Turning her head, Rarity's eyes widened seeing Sunset with a blush on her face as she looked down with an embarrassed look.

"Yeah, Y/N was... really cool." Sunset made eye contact with Rarity before quickly looking away. "I-I mean-"

"It's okay, dearie. I know what you mean. But tell me, do you, or do you not like Y/N? In that sorta way I mean." Sunset looked at Rarity before looking at Y/N who was smiling and laughing with Flash and Bulk. She smiled, a warm feeling burning inside her chest.

Rarity smiled, she didn't need to know. She already knew the answer. Looking over at Y/N, Rarity was proud of everything Y/N had accomplished since coming to Canterlot. To being the Quarterback for Canterlot and taking them all the way to the championship game. 'Win it all, Y/N.'
