Insert Egg-Pun Here
Helping Hoof
Load Full StoryNext ChapterTwilight chewed her pen for so long, her teeth were beginning to ache. She grumbled, tossing the pen somewhere out of sight as she approached her work. The incubator holding the dragon egg was hooked up to lots of other wires and machinery, those wires connecting to tubes, those tubes connecting to chemicals, and so on. The princess walked to the other side of her library, picking out a book and flipping through it. Twilight read everything she could on egg laying, dragon reproduction, and even the birth of ponies. But nothing she read would be able to help her current situation, and no spell she could find would even come close to the results she needed.
So Twilight resorted to potion making. Her way of potions was far more different than Zecora's. Tech, machinery, precise measuring, and so on was what Twilight learned when she attended the school of magic, after all. And besides, Twilight doubted Zecora would have any remedy to Ember's current situation.
A timer suddenly went off, Twilight's ears perking up immediately. She quickly, but carefully, put the book she was reading back in its rightful place. Trotting to her machinery, she crouched beside a beaker resting on an end table. All of the tubes connecting from various chemicals, as well as the incubator, lead to an eye dropper, dropping the precise measurements of the potion into the beaker. But something was off. The timer that went off should have indicated that the beaker was full, but the beaker barely had a quarter of the purple potion inside of it.
"That's not right," Twilight told herself. She carefully set the beaker off to the side and studied the end of the machine. She squoze the eye dropper herself, but nothing seemed to come out. Twilight then screwed it off to see if something had clogged the insides. But upon unscrewing it, the tube connecting the eyedropper started spraying dark purple liquid everywhere. Twilight sputtered as the potion sprayed all over her face, some even getting in her mouth. Luckily she had been wearing safety goggles, so her eyes were left undamaged. Twilight quickly screwed the piece back onto the machine and it seemed to be functioning normally again. Twilight groaned, moving the beaker back under the eye dropper to continue her experiment. That's when Twilight got a good look at herself- her white lab coat was now coated a dark purple, as were her hands, and most likely half of her face.
"Well that's just great," Twilight complained, removing her once-white lab coat from her body and slinging it over her shoulder, "Guess it's bath time." Twilight left the library to clean herself. “I might as well get cleaned up,” Twilight told herself, “I'm supposed to be visiting Pinkie Pie in a few hours to pick up my order of cookies."
