Uxoricide in an Unlikely Place
The grey earthpony mare laid silently on the couch, staring up at the ceiling with an empty expression, if you listened close enough you could probably hear the gears turning in her head as she searched for what to do with the... Situation... That she found herself in.
“Oh Octavia what have you done this time.” She spoke to herself silently, a tinge of sadness in her voice as she glanced down at her hooves, the normally well kept and pristine nature was now tainted with a crimson that splattered itself across the length of her forelegs; she grimaced at the unsightly nature of it. “You’ve gotten yourself all filthy too, with...” She stopped mid-sentence, taking in a deep breath and releasing it.
She got up off of the couch, slowly trotting to the bedroom, leaving behind a faint trail of red hoofprints in her path. Pausing for a second she braced herself before peering into the bedroom and the contents she left behind.
The room was a mess, the floor stained with patches of dried blood and numerous personal artifacts scattered about in a state of chaos, however the only thing of real note to Octavia though were the bodies of a dark blue unicorn mare with a silver mane and Octavia’s lover, Vinyl Scratch.
Vinyl fared better than the other mare, who admittedly Octavia never got the name of but was still subjected to her wrath... As was evident by the plethora of stab wounds along her torso and slashes across her neck and face which left her soaked in blood and barely recognizable from how she just was not too long ago.
Octavia had been quick with Vinyl, simply cutting deeply through her throat and holding her down until she bled out. Vinyl had tried to run but the initial blow to the side of the head weakened her enough. Her efforts did leave a few, now dried, pools of in the hall however. “Vinyl...” She mumbled, moving deeper into the room that they had once shared, stopping as her hoof hit a picture frame.
Glancing down she sat on her haunches to pick it up, turning it over and revealing a picture of the two together, Octavia in a white dress and Vinyl in a black suit and tie, the warming sight made Octavia let out a brief chuckle, smiling for a moment before looking up from the picture and meeting the now lifeless figure of Vinyl. She silently scooted closer and hooked a foreleg around the barrel of the white mare, slowly dragging her out of the bedroom with a huff.
“Mmfph, I always told you that you were getting too heavy, but you never listened to me.” She said with a chuckle as she sat down the body of Vinyl onto the couch, propping her up.
“Stay here, I’ll be right back.” She stated to Vinyl before trotting off into the kitchen, returning after a few minutes with a washcloth and bucket full of hot water which she sat down next to the couch.
“I’m gonna get you cleaned up, don’t fight with me like you did on your last birthday.” She chuckled silently as she did her best to wash off as much of the blood as she could, only leaving small pink stains.
A good bit of time passed before Octavia finally dropped the cloth back into the bucket, now a mixture of blood and lukewarm water. “You look much more beautiful now, Vinyl.” She beamed, leaning in to give Vinyl a gentle kiss on the lips before sitting down next to her on the couch and nuzzling up close, setting the damaged picture in-front of them.
“You remember our wedding right, Vinyl? Celestia it was so magical... I was so happy, you were so happy, our friends were so happy... We were all so happy then...” Her words trailed off as she stared over at Vinyl, her body stiff and un-moving, tears slowly built up in Octavia’s eyes as the gravity of the situation finally fell onto her.
“I’m... I’m sorry Vinyl, I just saw you both there and I assumed... I assumed the worst.” A few tears rolled down her cheeks as she spoke, eventually summoning enough courage to speak again.
“Why d-did you have to keep your anniversary plans secret? Y-You know I hated surprises anyway.” She grimaced, gritting her teeth hard as she broke down, sobbing into Vinyl’s corpse as she wrapped her forelegs around her frame as tightly as she could.
After a long while Octavia regained her composure, sitting back up and wiping the remnants of her tears with a hoof. “I just didn’t think you’d go to those lengths, I should’ve known better... You knew my broken cello couldn’t be replaced by any random one so you... This is my fault.” She said flatly, looking down at the ground in shame.
“I need to go apologize to someone else, I’ll be right back.” She trotted back down the hallway and into the bedroom quickly, repeating the motion of hooking a hoof around the barrel of the blue mare and slowly dragging her out into the living room, sitting her down on a chair adjacent to the couch, bringing over the bucket again and trying to clean off as much of the mare’s coat as she could.
“I never got your name but... Thank you, especially for helping Vinyl. Celestia knows her knowledge of these things is practically nonexistent... I’m guessing that’s where you came in isn’t it?” She glanced up at the mare with a light smile.
“However I still think your craft would’ve been amazing... Had it been completed, I apologize for that...” She sighed before getting up onto her hooves again and making one final trip into the kitchen, pulling out a knife from the block, fumbling with it for a bit before managing to clamp it down in her hoof, trotting back out into the living room and sitting down next to Vinyl’s corpse.
“I’ll be there with you soon, love.” Octavia spoke silently, giving Vinyl one last kiss on the cheek before she raised the knife to her neck, amping herself up before she drew the knife across her throat in a quick motion, blood pouring from her throat and down onto her coat as she fell back into the lap of Vinyl’s corpse, her last sight being the lifeless red eyes of her lover.
