Chapter 13: Citizen
Previous ChapterNext ChapterThe Structural Stability of the City of Canterlot is a travesty of Architecture that you would find only in the most lawless of worlds back in my old life.
Standing at the edge of a cliff high above the land, and yet still not at the peak of the mountain, Canterlot City is just a single earthquake away from an unspeakable tragedy.
After a week of staying in Canterlot, I decided to climb to the top of the mountain the capital was built on, To look at an old stone observatory that was built there, used by the Unicorns to read the stars thousands of years ago, long before the three tribes of the ponies united and created Equestria.
It was during my time walking the hollowed halls of the ancient building that I finally received a notice from the Immigration Offices.
Sadly, it meant that my look around the ancient star gazer was to be cut short.
And I was looking forward to reading the mural detailing its construction, another time perhaps.
I had papers to pick up.
Looper blinked his eyes in confusion at how quickly he acquired the forms in his grasp.
If he remembered correctly, and he doubts his memory is faulty enough to need questioning, the act of getting citizenship in a foreign country is much more complex than filling out a form and waiting a few days.
And yet... It seems the nation of Equestria has other ideas.
"No background check? No second interview? No trial period? Oh, these ponies are just waiting for a wanted fugitive to use their equestrian bureaucracy as a shield from the law..." Looper licked the corners of his mouth before he shook his head and started to make his way back to Moon Dancer's house.
It would be awful if the papers he now had were somehow ruined. Better get them someplace secure.
It's been a few days since Looper returned from the Immigration offices, and Moon Dancer has yet to see him go outside.
Although it isn't as if she has much room to talk, she rarely leaves her house anymore either.
It was on one such day, when both were inside, Looper reading through a collection of Theoretical Spellbooks, and Moon Dancer sitting on her couch downstairs, ignoring the piles of papers and clothes she should have started cleaning up weeks ago, that someone knocked at the door.
Moon Dancer racked her brain trying to remember if she was expecting anyone, if she perhaps made plans with the other girls and forgotten, maybe something else or another. But she found none.
"Not even plans to hang out?" She scowled to herself before standing up from her place sitting on the couch, her legs lethargically carrying her to the door.
She stood in front of the door and asked herself if she actually wanted to open it to whoever could be on the other side while her abode looked as it did. And she found she didn't have much energy to care.
Another apathetic sigh escaped her lips as her horn glowed with a light pink aura, and she opened the door.
"Excuse us ma'am, but we are here for an inspection of your house," Moon Dancer's previously tired eyes widened in worry as she spotted a trio of armored ponies, pushing their way into her home now that the door was opened for them, not waiting for an invitation.
"What's going on here?" She tried to ask but was mostly ignored by the Stallions as they started to open cupboards and doors as if searching for contraband.
"We have it under good information that you are housing a Changeling, Ma'am, It is Royal Guard protocol to interrogate any Changeling captured on Equestrian soil," One of the stallions told her before he joined his fellow guards in walking up the stairs.
Moon Dancer was shaking, she was terrified, and she didn't know what to do.
"You- You can't just come in here!" She tried to call them, "You need a warrant!" But she got no response.
She stood in place, unsure, before she heard a loud noise coming from upstairs and her heart stopped for a beat.
"What is the meaning of this! Release me!" She heard Looper shout, a struggle to his voice as he was held down by the guards.
"You're a changeling, You need to be interrogated, It's in the rule book," She heard one of the stallions say before the sounds of shuffling came, the guards dragging Looper down the stairs, her roommate struggling in the grasp of a large earth pony.
She watched in stunned silence as the guards dragged him outside, and as the first ray of sunlight touched his black chitinous body, Looper started to shout.
"I am Innocent!" He yelled, "You came into my house without a warrant and arrested me with no charges! I broke no laws and have committed no crimes!" He shouted around him, catching the attention of all the pedestrians on the street.
"Make him shut up," She heard the talkative Guard give an order to the third guard that came with him.
"Was it because I read a book?! A Theoretical magic book! Is expanding one's education no longer legal in this nation? What next? Will you arrest anyone who prefers Goat Milk over that of Cows?" He struggled as he turned to the crowd, his blank turquoise eyes widening in a panic that Moon Dancer never imagined she might see on the insectoid Stallion's face.
"Is it my appearance?! My species?! Is the royal guard arresting law-abiding citizens based on the color of their wings?! The length of their horn?! This is discrimination! What will be next?! Will you arrest every Griffon that has sharp talons? Every Minotaur with thick horns? It all starts small! First, you arrest an innocent man based on his appearance, What next? Will you force all the Pegasi to clip their own wings? Bar Earth Ponies from taking jobs in the cities!? Racism I call, Discrimination in its purest form-" And before Looper could continue screaming to the crowd as he struggled in the legs of the Earth Pony, the third guard hit him in the head and knocked him unconscious.
Moon Dancer stared in disbelief at the scene in front of her, watching in stunned silence as the guards dragged Looper away to the castle.
And once again in her life, she was lost on what to do.
Author's Note
Yo, it's been five months, how's it going?
I'm writing this chapter now because Trash of the Royal Castle, my main focus story, is going to be entering a Hiatus soon, where I'll be working on my other stories more.
And what's a better way to get ready for that Hiatus than writing a chapter for one of the stories that I will be working on a bit more during that hiatus?!
I'm still surprised this story has gotten as much support and love as it did, I mean, look at the Like/Dislike ratio on this story, this Rated-M story experimental HiE story. Usually, the dislikes would be much higher than they currently are, but I guess this story just has the feel of something that people like.
A Sociopathic MC that actually acts like a manipulative asshole while still having obvious flaws, A researcher trying to research the fuel that makes the universe go round.
Or perhaps you're just here because Moon Dancer is a Girl Failure (We Stan)

She still has the "Season 1" Appearance as well, since it's only been like a month since Nightmare Moon returned and was then defeated.
Hope you keep on enjoying the cold and calculating adventures of our totally sane and normal Snake Sannin- I mean Changeling! Looper!!!
Oh, I guess his other transformations kind of have their own story too, or something, I'm pretty sure Little Strongheart has a crush on Blaze Glass, but keep this quiet, I don't want him to find out!
Thanks for reading :)
Oh! Almost forgot!
For science of course ![]()
There! Now everything is perfect!
