Owlowiscious, the unicorn's pet owl, hooted softly, trying to break through the dead silence of the dark, Equestrian night of the season of snow-winter. It then flew away to the starry, snowy night sky it belonged to, by its mistress' order, and went to finally hunt its prey, something it had not done in a long time. The distant, yet distinct sound of a snoring, purple-skinned, green-scaled baby dragon echoed through the large tree. A purple aura then suddenly encompassed the window, smacked it shut, and locked it. The chilly atmosphere in the room disappeared, only to be replaced by unease. "Great, I’m becoming tardy. Well, I better hurry up, then." Musing to herself, Twilight looked upon the stack of old, dusty, Major-Magic Spell Tomes. She then cast a weary eye at the pair of glasses she got that day. It's black, aluminum frame shined in the candle light. The lenses depicted a faint reflection of the unicorn herself, glistening in the light. ‘Try wearing glasses, darling, it will help your poor little eyes a whole lot!’ echoed Rarity’s voice in the bookworm’s head. She guessed she saw it coming. She had often studied late into the night under the dim candle light, and no doubt it had taken a toll on her eyesight. It can't be all that bad, she thought, wearily inspecting the lenses under the dim light. She put it on, instantly achieving a 'High-Definitioned World' around her. The world she saw around her was extremely detailed, slightly brighter than it was supposed to be, and gave a rather linear perspective to the environment around her. Her eyes started to water and redden. Unable to take it, she took it off, placed it on one of her many study desks, rubbed her sore, sleepy panda-eyes with a cream-coloured scarf, and sighed. Major Magic Spells, she thought, always needing pesky, time-consuming Pentagrams. She began drawing out, by telekinesis, on the wooden floor, in chalk, a large, one-metre-radius base pentagram, putting careful detail on every bit, avoiding hairy lines. She then lit five candle lamps, and used her Telekinesis once again to place them at the five points at the outer ring of the pentagram. She looked at the pile once again, and levitated a Major Magic Tome, by surrounding it with her purple aura, and lifting it from the top of the pile, and propped it in front of her, letting the candle light glisten upon it as she inspected it. "Major-Magic: The School of Alteration". The words on tome’s cover title were slightly faded, and the pages in the book were yellowish-brown, giving it an ancient look. She flipped the book open. "Alteration, one of the five schools of Major Magic in Equestria, affects the world around it by altering the laws of reality and manipulating it to one's own accord. One can do such by drawing a pentagram with the necessary symbols, that will enable you Alteration magic for not more than a week. But of course to do as such, one must lend, or more like let, their bo-" she stopped reading for a few seconds, take a quick peek at her clock, only to find out that she only had a few minutes left till midnight, the crucial timing for the Major Magic Spell. Not having much time to spare, she let out a heavy sigh, and skipped along the pages, and found the first spell in the book. "Finally, lets get down to business." She said to herself, rubbing her fore-hooves together in anticipation. "Draw the base of a Pentagram, and place five candles and the 5 points of which the star's edges touches the outer-layer/circle. Then, draw the diagrams and symbols as represented below". Twilight quickly took out her chalk and drew the symbols and diagrams precisely. She continued by writing out certain words that weren’t Equestrian, which she didn't seem to understand, but had no time understand them. If only she did. "Now, stand in the middle of the circle and chant the following," she read, walking into the circle. "Grant me great power, the one for which I desire, Grant me great strength, for which I will change the world with, I lend my body to you, and let you watch as the world changes with you." she chanted, without much thought, as soon as the clock struck 12. Twilight did not really know why she had tried out the spell. Maybe she was too proud, thinking that a unicorn like her could handle such a powerful spell. Maybe she was curious, and wanted to prove herself to Princess Celestia. If only she knew what would happen next, she would have kept her mouth shut, and take back the words that came out of her mouth. A black aura surrounded the pentagram , and erupted from it, cracking the floor. Twilight's surroundings were engulfed in the swirling, black aura. Twilight held on to her scarf, not knowing what to do, not knowing if this was part of the procedure. Suddenly, she felt a slight tug at the horn, which was covered in the black aura. The tugs became hard pulls, which started to crack her horn, and then ripped it straight off her, blood spurting everywhere. Twilight screamed in unbearable pain, unable to take the sight of her own blood spilling all over the pentagram, and her horn laying in a distance, covered in her blood, and bits of her skin and flesh. Tears flowed like a river from her blood-stricken eyes. The pain didn't stop, making her scream for her life, as she collapsed onto the ground, unable to stand up anymore, her throat left raspy and unable to produce any more ear-splitting screams. Blood was all over the floor, sticky, wet, and filled with a nauseating stench. My pride, she thought, through all her pain and struggle, it's going away from me. Twilight's purple aura slowly drained away from her, just as she slowly was being overcome by fatigue. Just as she thought that no more damage could be done, the black aura spread over her cutie mark, and ripped it out, skin, flesh and all. Blood flowed like a river from her plot to her hind legs, and spread all over the pentagram. Numb, she tried to scream, but her voice just wouldn't come out. She could taste the iron in her blood-she was sick to her stomach. Soon as the deed was done, the black aura began to disappear. Twilight sighed in slight relief, as her body started to go numb, and let a last tear escape. But just as she thought it was over, when she could finally rest after something that she could not even comprehend, or more like she did not wish to comprehend, the cracks in the pentagram began to crack further. The floor quickly disintegrated to nothingness, making Twilight fall into an endless, bottomless pit. Helpless, the lavender mare ignored her raspy throat, and gave out a lasting, fearful scream. -4019387019237713481948719028730982731827901270192732738128297319283091273029378079123092-
