Prologue: Rough LandingsView OnlineAnon Saves The World (Hopefully)Prologue: Rough LandingsFlashing lights then….PAIN. “FUCK.” Anon shouted as the full weight of body crashed into the hard floor. His eyes were still stunned by the blinding light from earlier. One minute he was heading to work. The next minute flashing blue lights in his eyes. Did he fall? He felt like he was falling. He rubbed his eyes, slowly the spots began to escape his sight. That’s when he realized….everything was dark. He saw the dark outline of a ceiling…how did he get inside? Wherever he was it was pitch black. He spent what felt like years fumbling for the phone in his pocket. “FINALLY.” Shouting with glee as he got his screen on. “Ooo joy.” It was cracked probably from the fall he felt earlier. Luckily it was still working. Clicking the button on the bottom of the screen light finally filled the room. He found his eyebrow arching from what he saw around him. It was some kind of kitchen. A kitchen that had apparently been worked in by the Tasmanian devil. Also the walls and ceiling around him were reflecting his light as if they were made of crystal or something. Was this some kind of joke? Was he being punk'd? Confusion over took fear rather quickly even though their sign of struggle within this room. Strange claw marks on some of the walls. Turning around the light scanned the room. The beam slowly reveals more and more of the room. Until it stopped on a window that was boarded up by wood. He walked over trying to see out the window but the board would place too tightly for him to see anything outside…wherever that was. The boards were nailed into crystal walls. He moved hand towards one of the boards trying only to see how sturdy they were. When his hand moved too close, strange blue runes began to glow across the boards as his hand was repelled with burning sensation. “DAMMIT.” He shook his hand in pain. Putting finger in his mouth as looking at runes as they soon disappear. “Whelp, either this really good practical joke…or Frank spiked my coffee this morning.” Speaking to himself and to the quiet of the room. Which given everything going on was starting to freak him out. What was worse was that…the whole building felt…off or maybe just too quiet. There was a double door that led to somewhere. It was his only option at the moment. Approaching the doors he winced as reached for the door knob worried about those runes popping up again. Nothing of the sort happened as he twisted the handle. Cautiously did he twist and push trying to be as silent as the castle as to not disturb the horrors that may or may not be lurking in the shadows. Peeking his head slightly out of the door with his phone leading the way. Right and left were the same. A row of doors in a long…DARK hallway. So long that he couldn’t even see the ends. “That’s just….lovely.” The debate in his mind was one of fear mixed with curiosity. That was human nature after all when experiencing something new. He pushed the door open enough to slip out of the kitchen. Still being as quiet as a mouse in fear of a cat. Closing the door behind him. Remember the sage advance of his DND friends. Good adventurers go forward. Not the best advice to follow in a creepy dark place but, he was doing the best he could. He tried to keep his seat quiet to no avail. A master of stealth he was not. Anon was dressed for work. He was working in the office when he saw the flash. He was wearing a white button up t-shirt with a red tie around his neck. Black slacks and black dress show covered his lower half. His sleeves were rolled up, which was the usual style he had on. He stopped himself when light caught something. More claw marks against the walls and was….was that blood. A red stain against the ground. It would seem his DND buddy had led him down the wrong path yet again. Fear was slowly edging deeper into his mind. This whole time he had been trying to rationalize all of this as some weird dream or someone fucking with him. Those ideas were slipping away as evidence was piling up that this was in fact real. He crouched down putting his light on the red stain. Rubbing his fingers against it. Still fresh whatever it was. He lifted his fingers to his nose and smelled. It smelled like blood. That iron smell is something he knew well. Not that lived a dangerous life before this but, his teenage years were spent at times fighting off bullies. He got enough bloody noses to remember the smell. His dying hope was that some guy in a mask was going to pop out at him any moment. He would take the jump scare over more of this. He remained on his path for now still moving forward down the hall only this time he moved slowly making sure to keep his eyes out for anything weird or anything moving for that matter. His light finally hit something solid. Another set of doors similar to ones in the kitchen and in the hall only a little bigger. This was all the trappings of a horror movie and he was being dumb teenager that he always laughed at in those films. He still found himself approaching the double doors. As he got closer his light shining through cracks in the door. They burst open on their own. His light reflected off oily black skin of…this THING. It was a four legged thing. Insectoid in nature but shaped like a pony. Glowing green eyes and with ripped blue wings on its back. Sharp white fangs flashed in the new found light. It let out hiss as it charged at it. “SWEET JESUS!!” He cried. Author's Note Hello, as stated in descriptions this choice your own adventure story. Chapter One: Old Books and New CompanyView OnlineAnon Saves The World (Hopefully)Chapter One: Old Books and New CompanyThe creature leapt at him with drooling fangs and hissing tongue. His first instincts kicked in as years of fighting back against bullies had programmed him to fight. His brain flashed to all the anime he watched on his first time. He took a strong step forward meeting this creature with a free hand now balled into fist. “DETROIT SMASH!!” Shouting to heavens in hopes to gain power in his strike. The fist bash into the creature's face. The force of the strike blew the creature back into the room it had come from. A tooth knocked out of its mouth from the force of the blow. The doors were blown off their hinges from the weight of the bug. Anon looked down at his fist confused. The strange pony insect thing was lighter than it looked perhaps? Or maybe those hours weren't wasted after all. He looked at the thing in front of him who was now twitching and out of it on the ground. Shining his light forward the rest of the room was illuminated. It was a large circular room. As tall as it was wide like some kind of grand hall. In the center of the room was a broken table along with six broken thrones in various states of decay. The whole room was that way in a sense. Torn banners and more boarded up windows. His attention moved back towards the bug on the ground. He didn’t want it waking up attacking it again. He didn’t even know what the fuck it was. This was made clear to him though. This wasn't a dream or some weird prank. His fist had made contact for sure. Scanning the room again. He did see a number of doors. One that looked like the closest of some kind. He began to drag the creature behind him. Holding onto the phone in his mouth for the light. “OK…You’re heavier than you look.” Adrenaline was hell of a thing. Opening the door he found himself correct. It was some kind of storage space for this room. It had extra banners and odds and ends. He tossed the insect in and closed the door. Sadly there was no long on the door. He pushed a piece of broken table in front of the door encase bug-o decided to wake up from its forceful nap. Expelling the phone from his mouth. He could finally look around the room without issue. Though there wasn’t that much in there. Everything looked picked clean. The shelves of books in the back of the room were bare with only a few things left on it. He still found himself walking towards the shelf. He grabbed what few books were left. Cracking them open, shaking the dust free that caused him to cough up a lung. He understood some of it. It was at least written in english. Which was surprising but, some of it was weird. It talked about magic and how to use it. Weird symbols in the books. He swore to all the old gods and new if he had been isekai. He was going to find a way to punch said gods. Then again remember being hit by truck-kun. When he put the book back something else drew his eyes almost unnaturally. It was purple and weathered looking with a horseshoe on the spine of it. He began to reach for the book when heard the sounds from the closet. The insect inside the closet was beating against the door over and over again. He nearly jumped out of his skin. He had to do something about that or get out of here soon. He was about to turn back to the book when he heard it. Voices and steps towards the room he was in. He saw lights pouring in from the cracks in the door. Was it people? Was more of those bugs things? [Anon is now less likely to run.] [Anon is now more willing to fight.] [Your choices matter.] Author's Note Sorry this chapter is shorter but, I really wanted to write more of this. I give you mroe choices now: 1. Grab the book and Run. 2. Grab The Book and Hide. 3. Just Run. 4. Stand your ground and see who it is.
Chapter Two: Not Very WelcomingView OnlineAnon Saves The World (Hopefully)Chapter Two: Not Very WelcomingPanic set in quickly as sounds got closer. It sounded like more than one person too. He quickly ripped the purple book from the shelf and ducked down. Pushing his back against the broken table with a book in hand. Voices and footsteps entered the room. Feminine voices entered the room. The first words he heard were. “What do you smell, faunus?” The voice sounded commanding and demeaning in nature. “Nothing much…the air is stale.” The voice that replied was not as deep and…sounded defeated. “Then what use are you! Do not forget we are on a mission from her highness. You are already on thin ice, beast. Spread out and search” The first voice sounded not that friendly to Anon’s ears. Also that order made his whole body go stiff. Even with that feeling he couldn’t help himself. He peeked around the edge of the table slowly. Spotting the group that entered the room. This day was getting weirder and weirder for him. They were….humanoid-ish. They stood up on two legs but they looked more horse-like in the face and they had fur on their bodies. There were three of these creatures along with a fourth that was….a cat girl. She had black hair and black cat-like ears on top of her head. She was dressed in white over-coat with black leather suit under it. She had a slim figure with golden eyes. The others were different. They dressed in blue and black armor that hugged their figures. They covered in plate mail. The armor had a sharp almost jagged design with a single eye in the middle of it all. Two were men or they looked male. The final one looked to be the source of orders. A female of these horse people had…horn in the center of skull. Her fur was blue and she had sharp piercing red eyes. The two males were wielding well crafted halberts in their hands. Not only that they looked…tough to say the least. Pure muscle on top of muscle. They looked like they had been bred for war and violence. Anon was pretty good at telling when someone was strong. Those guys were strong and the woman leading them was giving off a hell of an aura. The cat girl turned her head towards the table. Anon quickly ducked back thinking about all his opinions and how crazy everything was. Maybe this was a dream…nope to real to be a dream he could feel his heart about to come out of his chest. The sweat on his palms and his thoughts racing a mile a minute in his skull. The two soldiers began to inch towards the back of the room. Anon could hear their heavy footfalls echoed in his ears. He felt his throat dry up. Closer and closer Anon was running out of time when all of sudden a noise filled the room. Buggo was awake after all. Attention was drawn towards the closet. “Warriors, see what is going on.” The commander called out. The commander's eyes were still locked onto the cat girl. In her eyes this was but, lowly beast she was burdened with taking care of. The two guards walked up the closet. Anon found himself peeking around the corner again to see what was going on. One guard moved that chuck of the table with one arm as if the rock weighed nothing at all. That was disheartening altogether to our hero. Once the doors were opened the insect creature leaped forward not learning last time. It was met with halberts that slammed it into the ground. Pinning into the floor. It made a god-awful noise of hissing and clawing at the floor trying to get free from them. The commander walked over standing in front of the wiggling bug. She turned her nose up in disgust. “Vermin.” She uttered, looking towards the guards. Giving but, a simple nod as one of them raised their halberd into the air to swing it down as others kept it in place. “WAIT.” The cat girl cried out as she saw what was going on. “We don’t have to kill it. That’s not our mission. We can just take it back with us.” She tried to reason with them. The commander turned back to her. “Are you questioning my orders already? Do you not remember whom you serve?” She took a step forward towards her as she pulled a yellow crystal from her back pocket. Her ears went flat on her head as she stared at the crystal. “No I…” She was cut off by the commander gripping the crystal. Yellow runes lit across a black band that was around her neck. A surge of golden lightning pulse through her body. It was visible to the naked eye. She fell to her knees in pain screaming out as the commander just smirked down at her. “If I say something dies. It dies. If I say for you, jump. You jump. Do I make myself clear?” She spoke, still holding the crystal. Author's Note Important Choice time already: 1. Do Nothing. Wait for them to Leave. 2. Stand Up Throw the Book at Crystal. 3. Rush the Command. 4. Make a Run for it. 5. Stand up and Call out to the Command.
