The Daily Life Of Anonymous

The Hunger That Watches

Previous Chapter

Anon hopped over a dumpster before hiding behind it, bullets whizzed past him, barely missing. His breath was rapid and unsteady as his back pressed against the cold metal of his only current protection. His eyes landed on the pistol he was holding. A 5th generation Glock 17, chambered in 9×19mm Parabellum. Anon quickly pressed the mag release button with his index finger as he cupped the bottom of the magazine with his other hand. He felt the weight of the magazine, Anon guessed he only had about 7 shots left plus the bullet in the chamber. The human loaded the mag again before quickly peaking around the corner of the dumpster. Managing to catch a glimpse of his fast approaching assailants before pulling his head back to safety, a few shots ricocheted off the ground into a nearby building.

Anon saw that they were spreading out, clearly trying to surround him. Knowing the longer he waits is guaranteeing his death. The human makes a break for a nearby parked pickup. Firing off a few badly aimed shots, attempting to make the men flinch. Out of the three men, two of them ducked instinctually, trying to make themselves smaller. The third man, however, was barely phased and managed to fire twice at Anon before he found cover. The first bullet hit the pickup, causing it to flash and honk alarmingly as the second one caught Anon's leg, making him stumble to the ground behind the pickup.

"Fuck." The human grunted as he glanced at his bullet wound. It was pissing blood in pulses, which meant it had probably hit an artery. Anon groaned in pain before contracting his leg tightly, trying to slow down the bleeding while watching the men through the clearance underneath the pickup. Despite the pain and quickly blurring vision, he aimed his gun through the clearance and shot at each of the men's legs once. Two missed, but the third struck one of them directly in the knee as he crumpled to the floor. Quickly aiming again, Anon shot the man in the face before turning his attention back at the others who had begun to split to surround the truck.

The men started shooting back even with the cover of the car. Bullets flew around Anon, a few grazing and catching the human, causing him to flinch, knocking off his aim. He could barely hold the gun straight, his hands shaking from the blood loss. His skin paled as he used the rest of his strength to squeeze the trigger until the pistol clicked as the slide locked open. Anon could just look at the men as one of them pressed the tip of their gun to his forehead before a loud a bang filled his ears and blackness overtook him.

Anon jerked up into a sitting position as the car park melted away into a black mist. The human quickly checked their leg and head before sighing and laying back down. His heart rates still quick and unsteady.

"What a shame. I was hoping you would last longer." A familiar voice spoke to him as the creature emerged from the mist.

"Yeah well too fucking bad. I never agreed to entertain you." Anon replied, his words dripped in venom.

The creature chuckled, it's creepy smile growing ever so slightly. "Well I want a show with my dinner, so I expect some more from you. It told him, towering over Anon's prone frame as the human began to regain control of his breathing. "But I am full for now. Try not to get up to too much while you're awake. I want you energised for our net encounter."

Present

Anon rubbed his eyes before getting out of bed. He heads to the shower to try and clear his head, leaving Azrael sleeping soundly on his bed. The water crashed down on the humans as the room filled with steam, the warmness seeming to wash away his troubles if only briefly. Anon was never a planner or someone who thought about the future, he was a there and then kind of person. Making decisions in the moment and dealing with the consequences later, most of the time it worked out well enough. But this time he really screwed up, there was no way he could deal with this every night. It didn't even feel like he slept at all, and he knows that creature was just getting started. Would it know if he told Twilight or Starlight? It can control his power, so what else could it do? Anon wondered.

The human finished up his shower, feeling refreshed and passed through the living room to access the fridge in the kitchen. To his surprise, the fridge had been restored, filled with various foods and drinks, all to his liking. Anon let out a small chuckle before grabbing a soda from the fridge door and closing it. Positing the sealed bottle cap on the edge of the kitchen counter, the human palmed the top, forcing the cap pop off, the satisfying fizz a welcome sound.

Anon took a heavy swig of the carbonated beverage before setting it down on the counter. "I'm so fucked." The human mumbled to himself. Maybe he could do a few tests to try and gauge how much the creature could see of his day. If it could see everything, then he was fucked anyway. Perhaps he could hint that something is wrong with him, and make it obvious. He might face an even worse hell tonight, but if Anon gets the result he wanted, it would all be worth it.

"Hello? Sir you there?" Came the familiar voice of Azrael, Anon blinked a few times before his eyes landed on the demon. "There we go, I thought you went into shock or something." She added, her worried expression fading.

The human waved his hand dismissively. "I'm fine, was just lost in thought is all. I'm going to visit Twilight in a bit, you got plenty of time to wash and whatever." He told her, taking another swig of his drink. "Tonight is gonna fucking suck."
