Chapter 7: The Streak

"Ma! Ma!" cried a young voice. "Adagio got hurt again!"

The woman, known as Chrysalis, turned around from the sink of dishes and watched as her three girls came into the room. Sonata, the youngest of the trio, walked in first, followed by Aria, the second oldest and leaning on her, with a smirk on her face, was Adagio, the oldest of the trio.

Chrysalis shook her head as she placed her hands on both sides of her face.

"What the hell did you do this time?"

Chrysalis snarled, but before she could say anything, the phone started ringing.

"Aria, get her cleaned up."

"Adagio, just go to the bathroom! NOW!"

Adagio shrugged off Aria, and wobbling a bit, she went up to the bathroom. Chrysalis took the phone call, listening to the angry responses on the other end.

"Come Sonata, we'll want to be in the basement when mama goes nuts on her ass again."

"But why?"

Aria groaned, "come on Sonata, do you really want to see the way Ma is going to deal with Dagi? Now come on."

She grabbed Sonata's arm, but Sonata pulled back and stood her ground.

"Why does Dagi do all this? We had nothing before Chrissy adopted us. We don't even know who our real parents are."

Aria sighed and was about to speak, but looked up with a worried look. Confused, Sonata looked and saw Chrysalis standing there firmly.

"I will talk with you two later. In the meantime, go downstairs!"

Without arguing, the two sisters went downstairs.

They waited downstairs for a long time. Normally, they would turn on the TV as the arguments would go on for a long time, and were super loud, but this time, they listened, as best as they could, to the argument going on upstairs.

All too soon, the argument stopped, but Chrysalis didn't come downstairs. Curious, Sonata decided to go upstairs.

Sonata ignored her, and went up the stairs. When she got up the stairs, she found Chrysalis sitting on the floor and crying. Sonata carefully walked over to her and after falling to her knees, she reached out for Chrysalis' hand.

Surprised, Chrysalis looked up to see Sonata showing a caring smile. Without saying anything, Chrysalis wrapped her arms around Sonata, bringing her in for a hug. As she did this, she started to cry once more.

"Where did I go wrong with her? I'm a failure as a mother."

"No you're not," said Aria as she came into the room. "Adagio may be a lost cause, but we still love you, and would follow you no matter what."

She walked over to the duo and wrapped her arms around her adopted mother.

Chrysalis smiled and threw her arms around Aria.

Upstairs, Adagio was still cleaning her face. She spat into the sink and smirked, "those bitches and bastards don't know me. I'll show them who's the best. Oh I will."

"We don't have money on us! We're naked!" added Sunset.

"You want us to go outside?"

"But we're-" Sunset began, until she noticed that the driver was getting ready to load the gun. "Okay, we're going."

Nervously, Twilight opened the door and she climbed out, followed by Sunset. They weren't thinking about being seen, they were worried about being shot. But the driver had no intension of doing that. Instead, they reached over, closed the door and drove off.

"Hey, you can't leave us!" cried Sunset.

"Uh Sunset, maybe don't shout," advised Twilight. "We are naked, and in public."

"Oh shit!" And the two ran to find cover in a nearby alley.

The van meanwhile continued on to the studio. They got in without alerting the front gate guard, parked in a regular parking spot and the driver ran off, snickering the entire time.

"What are we going to do?" Twilight asked nervously.

"We just have to wait, Ruby and the others will have to come this way, and they'll take us back to the studio."

As luck would have it, Ruby and the others did come down the road, but because it was dark out, they didn't see the two girls and so, they drove on without them.

"Stop! Stop!" Sunset cried from the alleyway. "We need a ride home!"

But the vehicles didn't stop, as they hadn't heard Sunset's cries.

"So, what are we going to do now?" Twilight asked.

Sunset sighed and gave the answer Twilight didn't want to hear, "we'll have to run back to the studio."

"Naked," muttered Twilight.

"Yeah, naked."

They looked all around to make sure no one was out and about, then they started to run through the streets.

"What do you mean they're not here?!" Ruby shouted. She had just been informed by the night guard that while the van made it back, the people inside hadn't been seen by the staff.

"It's just as I told you, they're not here."

"You mean, they could be anywhere in this city without any clothes on?!"

"Don't worry Miss Ruby, I will call the police and they'll find them."

"Are you crazy? They're naked, they'll get arrested." Ruby turned to the other drivers, "go out and find them!"

"Yes Miss Ruby!" they all said and drove off back into the city.

Ruby rubbed the space between her eyes, "this cannot be happening, not to my daughter, or to Twilight. Who in their stupid fucking mind would want to do this?"

Nearby, the mysterious driver was smirking.

"And that's the end of their story, mine is only going to get better." Without saying a word, she turned and went back into the studio.

"This isn't happening, this isn't happening!" cried Twilight.

"Twilight, please try not to shout!" Sunset snapped. "It's stressful enough without you shouting like that!"

Twilight was in tears, and in that moment, she began to think; why? Why is this happening? She just wanted to try something new, meet someone and get herself out there, but this was going too far.

Each step on the sidewalk just made her feel more afraid, and as a result, she was crying more and more. Sunset wasn't comforting her this time. If anything, her snapping words, and them rushing was only making things worse.

"I can't!" cried Twilight.

She let go of Sunset's hand and ran into an alleyway. She leaned up against a wall and slid down till she was on her butt. Her breathing got erratic, she started shaking and the tears really fell to the ground. She closed her eyes and let out a few sobs.

She then felt a pair of hands touch her's, causing her to look up. As she did, she saw the caring comforting smile of Sunset Shimmer.

"I'm sorry Twi, I was just eager to get back to the apartment, I wasn't even thinking how you were feeling about this, and I didn't mean to yell at you."

She wrapped her arms around Twilight, and at once, Twilight's shaking came to an end and her breathing returned to normal. She still cried, but she did wrap her arms around Sunset.

"We're going to get back to the studio, but once we do, I'll leave the choice up to you."

"What do you mean?"

"I can tell you're doubting your decision to be with us, so if you want to leave and go home, then we'll...no, I'll understand. I care about your feelings Twilight, and I will respect whatever you decide to do."

She proceeded to rub Twilight's arms with her hands, all the while, the nerdy girl was looking at her caring face. She didn't say anything, as she wasn't sure what to say at this point.

"You let me know when you're ready, and we'll move again. We'll stop when you want to, okay?"

Twilight nodded and after a minute, they got back up and continued on. This time though, they merely walked through the streets. Sunset kept holding onto Twilight's hand, occasionally rubbing her skin to keep her calm.

They of course stopped when cars came into view, and went into alleyways to steady Twilight's nerves, and in essence, Sunset's nerves as well.

"I think we're one block away," said Sunset. "We'll be okay Twilight, we're going to be okay."

Twilight still didn't say a word. Sunset sighed and after checking for cars again, the two girls ran.

Ruby was sitting at her desk. She was trying to do her paperwork, but her mind was more focused on Twilight and Sunset.

"I can't do this! I need to find them!"

She got up from her chair and opened the door. She started walking down the hallway, when she heard the sounds of footsteps. Bare footsteps to be exact, and moments later, she could see Twilight and Sunset walking in, shivering and tired.

"Sunset! Twilight! Oh thank god you two are okay! Come into my office, I'll make you some tea."

They followed Ruby into the office and accepted a couple of blankets from her. She started making the tea, silently cursing herself.

"I should've gone with you two. This should never have happened."

"No, it shouldn't have," agreed Sunset. She looked back to Twilight, "and sadly, I think it's made Twilight second guess all of this."

"What?" Ruby asked.

"Twilight, do you remember what I said back in the alleyway?"

"Of course I remember what you said after the hug," she said, but in a near flat toned voice.

"Well I want you to think about it. You're here in Ruby's office, your clothes are still in that safe, and if you want to go home, she'll personally take you there."

She started to get up. Her shoulders shook, she was trying to hold back her tears.

"I'll miss you. But hey, call me if you ever want to talk to a friend."

She started making her way back to the apartment, not even looking back over to Twilight. The walk this time felt like a punishment, and each step felt like she was walking with weights on her feet.

"Trouble Shimmer?" asked a voice. She looked and saw Adagio Dazzle standing by a door.

"What are you doing up?"

"Who me? I was just finishing a shoot. I heard you two were out, yet I don't see the nerdy girl. Did she get cold feet?"

Sunset lowered her eyesight back down to the ground, "I don't want to talk about it."

Adagio laughed as Sunset continued on.

In the apartment, she started up the bath. She still needed to warm up. Though when the water was turned off, it got quiet. The quietness of the apartment just made her feel sad and alone.

"Oh well, it was nice while it lasted," she thought to herself.

She was about to put her foot into the water, when she heard the door open. She placed her foot back down on the ground and went to see who it was. She figured it was Ruby, letting her know that Twilight was going home.

However, as she walked back into the living room, she found it wasn't Ruby. It was Twilight, still naked and showing a smile.

"Do you always act like that when something goes wrong?"

"I...uh I...it's a bad habit of mine. I could sense you were doubting everything, and with the silence after we started again, I thought that-"

Twilight walked up to Sunset and placed her fingers on her lips, stopping her from talking.

"Yes I was thinking that, but nerves can make you doubt certain things. You know what really helps a person make up their mind?"

"What?"

"Love," came the simple answer. "You could've gone on without me, but you chose to come back for me, despite our situation. And you even gave me the choice. I'm happy that you care for my health and feelings, but you need to stop thinking I'm just going to leave. You are my main number one reason for staying here."

"Really?"

"Yes really. I mean, you let me into your life, and it would be disrespectful if I went back home, leaving you all alone."

"Yeah that would suck."

"Fuck yeah it would suck," Twilight giggled and Sunset followed suit. "But I will say, Ruby's promised to stay with us when we're travelling from place to place, and she will give us time to recover from our streak. Also, if you need anything-"

"She's right there, yeah that's what she's been saying all along."

The two girls just smiled at each other and embraced in a hug.

"I'm glad you didn't leave. A second date wouldn't be fun if you weren't there."

Twilight laughed, "now if I'm guessing right, you were going to have a bath right?" Sunset nodded, "well then, let's both get cleaned up and get some rest?"

"I like that idea."

"Now don't get me wrong, I like being a nudist, but I'm not ready to go showing my body out in public like that again. I think I'll stick to the studio, and maybe the forest area."

"You and me both Babe. Thank god we weren't spotted."

And she followed Twilight into the bathroom for a soft, relaxing, and calming bath.
