The Beginning Era: The Dark Master - Mimic Magic

"Rob, are you sure your up for this?" General Hightop said.

"I may not be in full recovery, but there's not much time to waste. Right now, my mimic magic might be just what we need to really make that psycho pay." Rob said.

"The UNA is on route to your location. But where on earth are you headed anyways?" General Hightop.

"Going to get some additional help." Rob said.

"Some sort of ally you were keeping in your back pocket?" General Hightop asked.

"Something like that. You've seen Rachet and Throsten. And they are Pokemon." Rob said.

"Wait, Rob, are you going to get some video game character? What makes you think whoever you have in mind will agree?" Expert asked.

"...I have no doubt he will help us. Or she. You know, it was never really made clear in that game I played before all this started." Rob said.

"You don't even know their gender? What kind of video game does the protagonist not have a clear gender in?" General asked.

"Wait, that warp..." Expert said. "...I see." He added.

"What? Where is--whoa!" General Hightop said. "That's one heck a view. And that is a really big tree." he added.

"My target is said tree." Rob said.

"Wait what?! What good is a tree going to do?" General Hightop said.

"Did someone order a large fire?" Gorzon suddenly asked before part of the forest was set on fire.

"GORZON!" Aaron said over the comms.

"Huh? How'd you get access to my private channels. Get off this thing!" Gorzon also said over coms.

"I gave them access. I hope you don't mind." Condescending Consequence said.

"Oh. So your the big bad Dark Master? Well I've got news for you pal: I'm taking you down." Gorzon said.

"Says you. Oh boys." Condescending Consequence said before some pillars were suddenly stuck into the ground. "In about twenty minutes, I'll suck this forest of all it's plant life." He added.

"Oh come on! My fire will spread faster then that." Gorzon said.

"That's assuming you have a fire." Condescending Consequence said.

"What are you talking about, my fire is right--huh?" Gorzon asked.

"See? No fire." Condescending Consequence said.

"Oh it is ON now Dark Master. I'm just starting to have fun!" Gorzon said.

"Now what are you pointing the finger at me for. I certainly didn't do anything to your precious--huh?" Condescending Consequence said. Suddenly, a pillar was destroyed, as a strange glowing white thing was riding a dark owl. "WHAT THE HELL IS THAT?!" Condescending Consequence said.

"Heh...knew that little guy wouldn't have said no." Rob said as he began gunning Darklings.

"What the hell was that white thing?" General Hightop asked.

"That was Ori. They are the one I was hoping to talk to." Rob said.

"Ori?! But then that would mean this is the..." General Hightop said.

"Now do you get it?" Expert asked.

"Heh. Not a bad idea actually." Aaron said.

"Anyways, I think I can sense Gorzon up ahead. I'm going to take care of him." Rob said.

Meanwhile...

"So Expert, how does Rob's mimic magic work exactly? Please tell me that that perception thing isn't part of it." General Hightop said.

"The perception thing is not part of it. And no, I'm not just saying that. Rob's powers work by him seeing someone utilize the mana pool to cast a certain spell. Once Rob has seen that spell, Rob can use his Mimic Magic to manipulate the overall mana pool to cast the same spell." Expert said.

"Okay...but how does one create these spells to begin with?" General Hightop asked.

"Oh mana pools are everywhere general. You just can't see them with the naked eye. Most people who can manipulate the mana pool can only use a single element. But there are exceptions, and I think Gorzon is one of them: Someone who is attuned to a certain element but can make other spells." Expert said.

"So, what element is Rob attuned to?" General Hightop asked.

"None of them." Expert said.

"I beg your pardon?" General Hightop asked.

"Ever heard the phrase 'jack of all trades, but master of none' general? Because that's what mimic magic is in a nutshell." Expert said.

"Okay now that actually makes more sense." General Hightop said.

"So, what exactly is Ori?" Scootaloo asked. Gorzon had been defeated, and the spires were destroyed; saving the forest.

"A light spirit." Rob said.

"I get that, but what is that shape?" Scootlaoo asked.

"Don't know. Doesn't matter." Rob said.

"Oh good grief." Aaron said.

"What matters, is if Ori is willing to help us." Rob said. "So, you in?" He asked.

Ori just nodded. As did the owl. "I saw those blasts. I think Condescending Consequence should be scared." Aaron said.

"Your saying that because that thing shot down our UNA jet." One of the soldiers said.

"Well that jet was going to pollute things." Rob said. "This forest is meant to have a balance and be man-free." He added.

"...Of course it is..." Aaron said. "Besides, all the more reason." He added.

"Just so you know, Ori only takes orders from the Tree of Light." Rob said. "You won't be able to command him." He added.

How wise. The tree said. This Condescending Consequence is a long term threat not just to this forest, but to all nature in all worlds. He must be stopped. The tree said.

"...Okay, I've just witnessed a whole new level of strange." Aaron said. "A talking tree. I can't believe there exists a talking tree." He added.

"Well we honestly should've expected this from a--" General Hightop was cut-off.

"What the general was saying, was that it's great Ori is on our side." Expert said.

"Now what was that for?" General Hightop asked.

"Telling a video game character they are one, or a video game character playing their own video game here in our world causes them to basically freeze in place. It's basically them finding out the truth about their world in ours." Expert said.

"...I don't know if I should mad about such a loophole, or be glad I actually understand it." General Hightop said.
