Hi, it's me Scootaloo. Let me catch you up to speed here.

It has become a long grueling battle against the one known as Condescending Consequence. However, I could tell when we met him in the flesh that he was no human. And I was right: The one we knew as Condescending Consequence was a front for some strange creature with machine parts on it. However, it fled when I revealed it's true self.

It seems this is going to push Rob even further to create his Justice Hero Federation, and little did anyone realize, the time for fate to prove that such a thing was needed would be arriving shortly...

And that's not the only proving that would be going on. But, I'm getting ahead of myself. Just after the mysterious creature that posed as a human fled, the building where Project Frankenstein took place had been broken into. And sometimes...you just can't save everyone.

"I can't believe this place is still here." Rob said.

"So, from what I understand, it was Project Frankenstein that became Rob's reason for leaving the UNA." Scootaloo said.

"I detest those that try to play god. I knew a project that aimed to revive the dead was doomed to fail, and it did in the worst way possible." Rob said.

"I'll never understand why the brass signed off on this project to begin with." General Hightop said. "Guess that's what make me a general and not one of those that sit on the board." He added.

"Regardless, let's try not to use lethal force here. Once a reason for their break-in is established, I'm sure they can be convinced to just surrender." Rob said.

"For once, I'll agree to that. But I have to ask why." General Hightop said.

"Because I'd rather not there be an unnessary death." Rob said.

"Well whoever it is, they activated the sprinkler system." Aaron said. Indeed, the sprinklers were going off.

"Yo, check this out." Zapper said. There was a machine that looks like it was damaged by fire.

"That wasn't like that before." Aaron said.

"That's the prototype accelator device. Someone must have used it." General Hightop said.

"Ugh..." A female voice said.

"Over there." Rachet said. The group came across a female Ampharos.

"What happened to you?" General Hightop said.

"I...just wanted..." The ampharos said before passing out.

"Just wanted what? Hello?" General Hightop said.

"Chill. She's fallen unconcious. Someone else must have done it to her. I bet she just wondered in here. A place like this would be like a buffet to an electric Pokemon." Rob said.

"Yeah. She's obviously wild." Rachet said.

"Let's focus on who else is here. Jester, take her back to the UNA HQ for now." Rob said.

"Right. My powers will not be best used while the sprinkler system is on." Jester said. He then left, carrying the unconcious ampharos.

"I saw a shadow up on the catwalk." A UNA Soldier called out.

"Then I'm going up there. If they fall, I want to be able to catch them." Rob said and headed up there.

"Too bad I can't fly with so much wetness in the air." Scootaloo said.

"The water pressure would make it harder to fly for you right now. But with the right training, you wouldn't have such an issue." Expert said.

"Hey, what's this?" Zapper asked.

"Looks like a vat of latex." Expert said, examing what was inside.

"That stuff? Why was that stuff even here? Not even I knew this was here." Aaron said.

"Probably something they wanted to do if the prototype version of Project Frankenstein worked as it should have." General Hightop said.

"Typical. More gods playing gods." Rob's voice said. "Hey, who are you?" He suddenly asked.

"No! Leave me alone! I belong here now." A female voice said.

"I'm getting Rob's feed now." Expert said, bringing up a display. There, the group say him talking to another female ampharos, but this one seemed much younger.

"What do you mean you belong here? This place isn't safe." Rob said.

"My mother...she didn't care about me...she forced me to evolve when I wasn't ready." The ampharos said.

"She must be talking about the ampharos we found earlier." Aaron realized.

"Listen, I can help you. You just have to trust me, okay?" Rob said.

"No! I don't want to trust anyone but myself." The ampharos said.

"Can't you at least tell me your name?" Rob asked.

"It's...It's Lateria." The Ampharos said.

"Listen, Lateria...I get that you don't want to trust me...but this catwalk can be very unstable." Rob said. Suddenly Lateria's electricity caused the place to come back to life. "...And that's not going to help." Rob said.

"Wh-what so dangerous about this place? I'll be fine..." Lateria said. Suddenly, out from under her, the catwalk broke.

"No!" Rob said, and grabbed one of her flipper hands.

"You...you would go out of your way to save me?" Lateria asked.

"I wouldn't...want anyone to die...ever..." Rob said, but he was struggling.

But without warning, his grip slipped. "Aaaaaaaaaaaaah!" Lateria screamed as she fell into the vat of latex.

General Hightop just stared, and it was obvious Rob was beating himself up over this.

Later, it was confirmed that the Ampharos found earlier was the later's mother, so she was promptly arrested for tresspassing and child abuse. General Hightop then went up to Rob.

"...I know you wanted to save her." General Hightop said.

"Doesn't make me feel better." Rob said. "She didn't have to die like that, you know." He added.

"Her mother pushed her into such a fate. But part of me wonders, if she's really dead at all." General Hightop said. "That latex was most likely part of Project Frankenstein after all. So there's a good chance she could still be alive." He added.

"Yeah...but she'll have been turned into a monster." Rob said.

"Maybe. She was only ten from what I understand." General Hightop said.

"...You know as well as I do that the odds of her becoming anything but a monster if she did somehow become a product of that latex are way too low." Rob said.

"...Yes. I suppose if she somehow retains all of her mind...it'll be a miracle of miracles." General Hightop said.

Author's Note

Ah irony. I honestly didn't expect to post this chapter today of all days. I did not plan this.

But while Mother's day is a day for the mothers of the world, sometimes we all need to realize that not all mothers are the good sort.

Also, in case it wasn't obvious by the fact that I didn't put the death warning tag up for this chapter...Lateria did not die. In fact, she will be showing up later. But just as it was foreshadowed: She will not be the same.
