Spike is the young Prince of Equestria, but becomes bored of his life of luxury. He has little interest in becoming king, so his mother Queen Celestia enrolls him in the Spiral's most prestigious magic school, Ravenwood. At first, he shows no interest, but when he realizes he will be doing an independent study where he can travel the Spiral for the sake of knowledge and adventure, he is overjoyed and begins his studies into the world of magic.
