Let's go Save the World!

After Sunny and myself had stopped speaking for a moment, I suddenly heard the others seemed to be coming to their senses.

Zipp was the first to speak. She looked really confused, and her eyes seemed quite confused especially. I know that didn't make a lot of sense, so try to bear with me- some of this is a bit foggy. "Huh? What happened?" She seemed to be noting our equal levels of surprise on that front!

"Talk about a weight on our shoulders, huh?" Sunny said, seemingly trying to just get some conversation going.

"Speak for yourself," I said, with a shrug. "I feel nothing on mine!"

"Not what the phrase means, Izzy," Sunny replied, before glancing over to where Zipp was standing. "Zipp, what did you see?"

Zipp narrowed her brow, and thought for a moment. "I finally know who brought us here," she said. Well, let's see if it lines up with what I saw. "I met Princess Twilight in there. She told me it was our destiny to stop Chris, and that she brought us here to stop him when he kept killing the originals. We've been brought here to defeat him, and avenge those he has destroyed."

So it did line up with what I'd seen! This is really handy. Clearly Twilight is good at keeping things consistent!

Before I could speak up, Sunny spoke. "That suggests Twilight knows how to send emails."

Huh? That was an odd thing to say!

Hitch chimed in before I could. "That's a strange non sequitur."

I glanced about the room, and noticed that Misty looked equally confused by both that statement and the one Sunny made a few moments ago. "I can't see any hedges that need trimming."

"Latin," Hitch explained. "It means 'it does not follow.' Often used to denote a line of reasoning that doesn't make much sense. In this case, I'm not sure how Sunny got from stopping Chris to Twilight sending emails."

Sunny, however, was more than happy to explain. "The inciting incident for me was being sent an email," she said. "That was after I'd bought the badges you see on the main strap of my bag."

"Interesting," Misty noted.

Now that we were done chattering, Zipp spoke up once more. "Anyway," she said, "We need to be ready to fight. There's no way we can take Chris on with just our own strength. We need allies, support, help even."

Upon hearing this proclamation, Pipp added her own ideas to the pile. "I got, like, totally the best idea we could have for getting this show rolling. How about we get the other tribes onboard!"

This seemed to catch Sprout's attention. "This was exactly why I tried to get the earth ponies to rearm! With their added strength and the combined firepower of all three tribes, we should be able to send Chris packing!"

Our discussion was then interrupted by the Queen inserting her own views into the matter. "I applaud your enthusiasm," she said, "but diplomatically this will be very challenging. Our three tribes have rather been locked in a state of cold war for the last thousand years, and undoing all of that cannot be done overnight."

Zipp looked despondent as she started to speak. Hey, that's a lot of sibilance! "Mom, we have to try-"

"I never said I wasn't going to. I am just warning you not to expect instant results. Though given that Alphabittle and his cohorts owe us one that should make things a lot easier."

Sunny confidently stepped forward, and addressed her fellows with a smile. "Looks like it's our turn to step up to the plate, just as Twilight and her friends did a thousand years ago. Let's go!"

Now I can't argue with that! Let's go, Sunny!

Although the global situation was indeed dire, Zipp's mom had made an excellent point about the three tribal groups. Given the centuries of cold war we'd been locked in, it would come across very poorly if we were to address tribes other than our own. Back in my old world, we called this 'white man's burden', or the belief that some groups have the right to lecture others as to how to live their lives. We've had to be very careful to avoid accidentally falling into this trap.

So, we devised a different plan. Instead of going to different tribes, we each went to our own. Pipp, Zipp, and Queen Haven stayed in Zephyr Heights to rally the pegasi, whilst Sunny, Hitch, and Sprout all returned to Maretime Bay to convince the earth ponies to fight. Meanwhile, myself and Misty went with Alphabittle and his troops back to Bridlewood, which now felt firmly like home despite being a place I'd spent remarkably little of my adventures in.

Once we hopped off the tanks, which went to be stored and repaired, we were then marched straight to the train station to catch a train to Vanhoover. Me and Misty chatted as we went on our way to the big city.

"Never imagined I'd find myself in this sort of scenario," Misty admitted, looking out of a window. "But then again, this whole journey has been nothing but curveballs."

"Hey, don't worry," I said. "If we keep this up, we should have this world saved in two shakes of a pony's tail!" I then shook my tail to emphasize the point.

Misty just looked at me blankly.

"That means really quickly," I clarified.

"Ohhh."

"Anyway, we need to get going once we get to Vanhoover. No doubt they'll want to hear all about the potential dangers that lie in our way."

Misty nodded. "Hopefully we can address the crowd without looking like total idiots, Izzy."

"Ahh, come on! We'll do a great job!"

As the train rattled to a stop, we both hopped out and got on our way through the bustling streets of Vanhoover. The city seemed to be in a state of tension, with ponies carefully scanning the skies for Chris' flying saucers.

Unfortunately, persuading the authorities to take action against Chris proved to be rather more difficult than we thought. We were assembled in front of an assembly of important ponies, probably government officials and similar owing to the importance of their clothing and their chairs nearly scraped the ceiling.

So, in an attempt to convince them of the danger we were in, I began to tell the full story of our journey- leaving out the formerly being a human part. I told them of my journey to meet Sunny, of our trek across to Zephyr Heights (one seemed to be very impressed we got in there!). Then the daring heist, our escape across to Bridlewood (including encountering Chris), and then our time in Bridlewood, before I got interrupted.

"Point of order!" shouted a very big unicorn with a monstrous beard. "What does all this gallivanting about prove, exactly? That you went on some sort of jolly into other countries and somehow emerged without a scratch to your name?"

I looked confused. "How precisely would somepony scratch my name? Names are an entirely abstract concept?"

"My point being, what does this journey prove?"

I looked up at them, before switching on a projector with a picture on it. One we had taken whilst in Bridlewood. "I wasn't alone on this journey. During this journey, I was joined by ponies from all the tribes, ponies who set aside their differences and helped us. Sunny Starscout, Misty Brightdawn, Zipp Storm (who isn't in this photo), Pipp Petals, Hitch Trailblazer, Sprout Cloverleaf and Misty Brightdawn are their names. And they are so much more than just travel companions. We've stuck together through thick and through thin, and through adversity have become fire forged friends. We've proven it can be done, and we're going to try and stay in contact when all is said and done. If we could do it, who says you can't?"

Another unicorn looked stunned, but then returned to his prior expression. "Sweet story, but you're just a small band of ponies. How do you think three entire nations will set aside their differences and agree to work together? Have you forgotten what the earth ponies and pegasi did to us during the war?"

I had waited for this question, and still had an ace up my sleeve. Well, not literally as ponies generally don't wear clothes, but you know what I mean. "It's already happened," I smiled.

"What are you talking about?" asked a third unicorn.

"Alphabittle and his troops helped us liberate Zephyr Heights from General Gulfstream!" I pointed out. "Did a smashing job too, might I add!"

There were gasps around the room. "Is this true?" asked the unicorn in the ridiculously tall chair.

"Yes, your honor," Alphabittle replied. "It is indeed true."

The unicorns looked about. "Maybe it really can be done!" said another.

"I shall make my recommendations to the General Secretary," said the first unicorn. "We shall convene the Council, and discuss this matter urgently!"
