Rebirth of Magic: Izzytastic!

On my Way, Sunny!

Previous Chapter

I was finally clear of the forest, and out into open pastures. These same fields had been the first part of Equestria I had ever explored when I was first here outside of Bridlewood, and this time I was seeing them in their prime, lit gently by the evening sun as it slowly set in the sky. And yes, I can already hear the viewers complaining that this shouldn't happen because Celestia isn't here, but this shows a lack of basic understanding of how stuff like the sun works.

You see, Equestria is on a planet; it's not a disk. This means that the planet we live on is orbiting around the sun, and the moon in turn orbits around us. Therefore, as the sun stays completely stationary, the image of it moving across the sky is an illusion; we are the one that is moving, not the sun or the moon. Therefore, the idea of Celestia raising the sun is complete nonsense- how can you raise something that isn't moving?

True, she may have mucked about with rotation speed a bit, but the point stands. Given they have so much difficulty understanding this concept I can only assume they slept through science class.

Anyway, I had no time to admire these lovely scenes as I had all those weeks ago. It was only weeks, but it honestly felt like years had passed since I was last here. But I had no chance to stop and admire the scenery. I had to help a friend, and that friend was Sunny Starscout.

So, I had to engage super speed mode. I tilted my head down and proceeded to gallop as quickly as my four hooves could carry me. Before long, a familiar beat sounded on the ground as I raced along, my focus on my mission and my need to complete the operation in the top of my mind. I had to get to Sunny. A friend in need is a friend indeed, and a true friend helps a friend in need indeed.

Hey, that has quite a nice ring to it!

Anyway, I was going as fast I could (based on my pocket calculator I was doing about twenty miles per hour), but sensed I somehow needed to go faster.

Naturally, I went and checked in my storage to see if anything could help me. I scanned through all the items, but couldn't find anything helpful to help me on my way. I charged along, still searching.

Maybe I should have packed a teleporter to help me out, but then again that would need me to know where I was starting and ending, and unfortunately my location calculator was out of juice and took different batteries to my other items.

So, I continued on my way, my eyes looked ahead. "I'm coming, Sunny! Don't you worry!"

I slid under a tree branch because it looked cool, and before long I was out of danger and in the treeline. Then once I hammered onto a new plane, the landscape turning to rolling fields, I suddenly came across it.

Or rather, I flew across it.

As I was galloping along, I suddenly collided with something, and one by one my hooves left the ground! I cartwheeled through the air, looking like something from an old silent comedy, and then slammed onto the ground with a bang.

"Owwww," I groaned, as I pushed myself back up. Luckily I didn't seem to have any broken bones or anything like that, so I could safely continue on my way. "What in Equestria did I trip over there?"

I turned my head to where I had come from, and to my amazement something was sitting there. Something which seemingly wouldn't be found for a while.

"I knew Izzy was out for a while when she went looking for inspiration in Izzy Does It, but I never realised she travelled this far!"

Sitting in front of me was a small, three wheeled tricycle with a small windshield, a headlamp, and curved mudguards over the front wheel. The back wheels had a small platform on them, which would be ideal for mounting a box to, and-

Of course! This was a Vespa, or something like it! For those who don't know, Vespas were small vehicles popular with people back in my old world as a nifty way of getting around. They're often associated with the 1960s counterculture, which I suppose is fitting given Izzy is basically a hippy- sorry, I'm basically a hippy.

I went round one side of it and removed the fuel filler cap. I took a look inside and could see liquid inside.

Just my luck! Not only was the vehicle here, the fuel tank was full! I could drive it to Maretime Bay! I closed the fuel filler cap, hopped onto the driver's seat, and turned the engine on.

The engine started with a cough and a splutter, but was definitely running. I checked over all the controls and pulled a helmet on (safety first, ya know!), before turning the power handle.

The engine revved up, but we weren't going anywhere particularly quickly.

I looked behind me and soon found out why. The vehicle had been dumped in rather boggy ground, and the process of applying power was simply causing the trike to throw up vast amounts of mud and dirt. This was counterproductive.

Clearly we needed some more weight in order to get moving, so I looked through my inventory and scanned for an item which might help.

I then found an enormous box which seemed very heavy- it took up a lot of storage space and nearly meant I was overencumbered. I plopped the box on the back platform, and sure enough the weight from the box dramatically improved traction.

With another quick application of the power handle, the trike got moving off the muddy land, and moved onto the nearby road. With that, Izzy Does It was go, and we were on the move!

The trike didn't have a functioning speedometer, so I couldn't tell you how fast I was going. But it was a lot faster than galloping, let me tell you!

As I raced along, I saw a set of fighter jets fly overhead, heading for Maretime Bay. Were they pegasus ones? Seemed plausible for that job.

I dropped down and kept on going as quickly as I could, knowing that any second wasted was a second that could harm the world. If what was going on based on the Sparkle was anything to go by, our old friend had turned up and was back for more. Or us. Or both.

Sure enough, I whizzed down a hill and continued to pick up speed, having to navigate quite tightly in order to avoid hitting things. I flew past the cave I had slept in the night before I arrived in Maretime Bay, so I knew this journey was almost at an end.

I was now on a cobbled road, and seemed to bounce up and down as we continued along. Maretime Bay was close, as I flew past the sign which denoted the outer city limits.

Sure enough, I crested a hill and as I looked forward I saw some very bad things going on. Maretime Bay was under attack. Gunfire echoed all around, and there seemed to be military machines everywhere. Explosions sounded in the air, and several flying saucers were in the air above me.

I looked over and saw a fighter aircraft slam into the ground before the wreckage exploded. Hopefully the pilot was OK.

I looked up again and saw Zipp gliding through the sky. Boy was that a strange sight to see, a pegasus flying. Pipp had mentioned something about pegasi still being able to glide if they got enough momentum, so that made sense.

My trike soon flew under the bridge which denoted the start of town, and I glanced over to see scenes of pandemonium all about us. Ponies were fighting back as best they could, and Hitch seemed to be leading some sort of defense.

"Get to safety, Izzy!" he called.

"I'll see if Sunny needs help!" I called, and skidded off down the road towards the lighthouse. As I turned, a soldier shouted something at me- it was very rude so I won't repeat it. But I just blew him a raspberry in response!

I hammered round a bend, dodging some more chaos, and then arrived at the lighthouse just in time. I parked up outside the building and saw Zipp was already there.

She glanced to me. "Glad you could make it, Izzy! Things are a bit chaotic right now!"

I nodded. "Let's get inside and see if Sunny needs help!"

We ran to the door, which Sunny opened as got closer, and then closed again. "Upstairs, to the top floor!" she said.

Sure enough, we followed, and were now in the crystal chamber.

Before any of us could say anything else, a loud horn blasted in the distance.

Author's Note

And that will do it for this month's leg involving Izzy Moonbow. ^^

We'll return to her at a later date, but for now... next month will see what's going on via on Misty Brightdawn's side. :)
