Moments Before Creatures Corrupt Themselves

Starlight did it.

She watched the world crumble as she had always wanted.

Not anymore.

Not since Twilight and her friends had taken her in and offered her friendship.

This. Wasn't her fault. Not this time at least.

She looked over her shoulder to see her friends all sitting behind her frowning deeply.

“I know we saved Equestria without Twilight and her friends before but,“ Trixie spoke up first, holding Starlight's hoof, “I'm scared that we'll end up just like them.“

Trixie nuzzled into Starlight's chest, and Starlight looked to see Maud leaning her head against her coltfriend's shoulder who wrapped a hoof around her. Discord spawned beside them.

“What about Discord?“ Starlight asked.

Discord shook his head. “Not even my chaos magic can overcome...it.“

“So that's really it then? We're doomed?“

There was no response.

Starlight pulled away from Trixie and looked her square in the eyes.

“Trixie, what do you say about putting on another show?“

Trixie furrowed her brows. “Show? But, Starlight, you do know that would mean my last final show, don't you?“

Starlight grinned. “Exactly.“

Trixie raised her eyelids in realization.

They went down the battlefield as they prepared Trixie's stage.

“Come one, come all! Come and witness the amazing magic of the Great and Powerful Trixie and her assistants!“ Trixie said into the microphone.

The darkness growled as Trixie and her friends began to perform some tricks. Starlight snarkily directed one of the tricks toward the darkness.

The darkness snarled and one of its tentacles was flying toward them. They all widened their eyes preparing for their doom until Mudbriar stepped in front of them.

“Goodbye,“ he said.

“Mudbriar!“ Maud said as she held him in her hooves.

“Who's next?“ the darkness asked.

They all stood firm on their hooves glaring up at the darkness.

Trixie directed her snout up. “This is the last performance of...!“

The darkness got to Trixie too.

“...bleh. The great and powerful Trixie,“ she said quickly before she accepted her fate.

“Trixie!“ Starlight was about to run to her until Discord pulled her away.

Maud stepped in front of the darkness and gave in as well.

Starlight then struggled out of Discord's grasp.

“Why are you doing this?!“

The darkness formed a grin and leaned forward. Starlight stepped back.

Discord grabbed Starlight and placed her behind him as he spread his arms about.

“Discord, no!“

But the darkness had got to him too. Gone. Like the ponies and creatures had wanted all those years ago. In fact, they wanted all five of them gone and now they have it. The Lord of Chaos. Gone. Starlight's eyes wavered.

She fell on her knees sobbing as a shadow loomed over her.

“End me,“ she said, and the darkness engulfed her whole. Not even a wince of pain was heard from the most powerful pony in Equestria.

And the darkness covered everything.
