It was another day at the ranch for Megan Williams as she was finishing up with her daily chores. After she was done, she headed towards the rock formation that normally takes her into Equestria. As she entered, she noticed some of the ponies approaching her as if they had something very important to tell her.
Rainbow Dash mentioned, "You have to come with us immediately Megan."
Megan asked, "What for?"
Applejack added, "Twilight Sparkle has been captured by Nightmare Moon."
"You didn't just say that Nightmare Moon got her, because she is very vicious monster." replied Megan.
The ponies and Megan got to the Castle of Friendship to discuss what happened to Twilight when she got captured.
"For some reason Nightmare Moon caught Twilight off guard and was able to capture without any problems." stated Rainbow Dash.
Megan then asked, "Do you have any idea where Nightmare Moon could have taken her?"
Rarity answered, "We're not exactly sure as this was done during the dead of night when most of us were asleep at the time."
Megan then thought, "Maybe the cutie map can help us."
Pinkie Pie stated, "It's usually Twilight who knows how to use it."
Megan asked again, "Can't any of you use it to help locate her?"
Fluttershy answered, "We usually don't tough the cutie map, Twilight does."
Megan then looked at the cutie map and then noticed her locket glowing.
"For some reason the Rainbow of Light is telling me how to use the cutie map so that we can help located Twilight. It claims that she is in Everfree Forest. However, it doesn't give a specific location to where exactly she could be especially since that very forest is big, and she could be almost anywhere unless any of you have an idea where Nightmare Moon could have taken her." noted Megan.
Rainbow Dash mentioned, "There is an old castle where we originally fought Nightmare Moon for the first time, so that's probably where she has Twilight."
After hearing that Megan said, "Then let's start going."
The rest of the Mane 6 and Megan headed over to the old castle as they saw Nightmare Moon appear right in front of them.
"I can see you have all came here to rescue Twilight especially you Megan." stated Nightmare Moon.
"How did Nightmare Moon know my name especially since this is the first time, I have ever actually encountered her?" asked Megan feeling suspicious.
"Some of these creatures have a way of knowing things." replied Applejack.
They all fought against Nightmare Moon, which didn't look very easy for them. Although the Rainbow of Light did have some effect on her, it still wasn't enough to beat her as if later hits didn't even phase her. Fortunately for Megan, her locket glowed again telling her how Nightmare Moon could be beaten even without Twilight helping them.
Megan stated, "The rainbow is telling me that we can still beat Nightmare Moon by doing the same formation that rest of you do with the Elements of Harmony."
Rainbow Dash felt confused and said, "That doesn't make any sense. Twilight is currently in a magical energy box that won't even allow her to use her element. More importantly, it won't be complete if we're not altogether.
"It won't be incomplete, because I will fill in for Twilight by hitting you all with the Rainbow of Light to complete it." replied Megan.
"Will this actually work?" asked Applejack.
"It should in theory, but we won't know until we actually do it." answered Megan.
"Here goes nothing." mentioned Rarity.
The rest of the Mane 6 agreed to set up the formation they would normally use when involving them Elements of Harmony as Megan hit them with the Rainbow of Light as if acted like a placeholder.
"How is this even possible!" shouted Nightmare Moon as the rainbow engulfed her.
Twilight mentioned after being freed, "I never knew that the Rainbow of Light could be used as a placeholder for any missing element especially when it happened to be mine."
Megan stated, "It was the very rainbow that told me about this, which makes me feel as if it has a mind of its own."
"My guess is that there is more to the Rainbow of Light than we know about." replied Twilight.
"What happened to Nightmare Moon, because I don't see her unless she really disappeared?" asked Megan.
"In a way she is still here." replied Twilight.
"What do you mean by that?" asked Megan suspiciously.
Twilight then stated, "It's probably time that you know the truth."
Feeling even more suspicious, Megan asked, "What truth do you mean?"
Princess Luna then woke up and said, "I thank you Megan and the rest of the ponies for freeing me from that manifestation that has once again taken over me."
Megan starting to feel a little scared then asked, "What you do mean by that, and you are trying to say that Nightmare Moon can take possession of any pony including Luna herself?"
Twilight then mentioned, "The only pony it takes over is Luna, and this is actually her dark side."
Megan started to feel angry and stated, "I can't believe that none of you have told me that Luna was Nightmare Moon, which probably explains why she already knew who I was just by seeing me. The only way she would have really known me would have to be if I knew her. I thought being the creature of legend meant I would know something like this. However, that doesn't seem to be the case. Maybe I just should return the Rainbow of Light to the Tree of Harmony and never return again."
"Please don't make any drastic decisions Megan." replied Twilight.
Princess Celestia then showed up in her hopes to calm down the situation that had just went on.
Celestia mentioned to Megan, "I can understand how this battle made you feel, but I suggest you return to your world and think this over before you make any further decisions."
"Maybe I can talk to her in a way to help calm her down." stated Twilight.
"Right now, Megan needs her space, and bothering her at this time may just make matters worse for her, so let her go back and allow for her to clear her mind for the time being." replied Celestia.
Megan then returned home. Fortunately for her, she was just in time for dinner. Later on, she got ready for bed as she was starting to feel as if being in a world of talking ponies was a big mistake for her. As she got to sleep, she saw Luna entering her dream trying to explain to her.
"What are you doing in my dream Nightmare Moon?" asked Megan.
"First of all, that was pretty harsh, but that's not why I came. I'm not really supposed to be going into your dreams, but I will tell you this. Before I will leave alone for the night, I would like you to come over to Canterlot Castle the next day." answered Luna.
"What will I gain from doing this?" asked Megan.
"I promise you everything will be answered when you show up there tomorrow." replied Luna.
The next day came, and Megan agreed to show up at Canterlot Castle as the Royal Sisters started to give her a full disclosure on Luna and why she was known for becoming Nightmare Moon.
Celestia started up the statement and said, "I am very sorry you had to find out this way that my sister is one of Equestria's most viscous monsters."
Megan then felt puzzled and asked, "Why do you still let her sit beside you on the throne despite being that?"
Celestia answered, "Even though she tried to kill me when first taking that form, she is still my sister, nonetheless."
"I just don't get any of this." replied Megan.
"I can understand what you are saying Megan. In reality, I'm not evil, it's the manifestation that makes me that way. Also, when I take that form, I no longer feel like myself and even attack those I love including my own sister." replied Luna as tears were seen coming out of her eyes.
Megan claimed, "In other words, you're not solely responsible for your actions."
Luna noted, "You are correct about that."
Celestia stated, "Now that you are one of the few to know this secret, I hope that this won't make you want to stop coming to Equestria."
Megan mentioned, "I don't understand why it has to be kept as a secret from most."
Celestia sighed and said, "I thought it would be better for much of the ponies to not know my sister's dark side especially when it would make them view her in a bad way, which is why it's kept a secret in a such way."
Megan then stated, "Now that I know why, I can understand why this is the case. It's sort of like having something you wouldn't want to share with others especially if it would place you in such. Maybe Luna would like if I could pet her and even help wipe away her tears even though I know that she normally doesn't want me to touch her."
Luna said, "After what happened to the both of us, that would be very nice."
"Why couldn't you just make that manifestation go way so that she couldn't become that form again?" asked Megan.
"Unfortunately, manifestations don't just go away, the ones who are possessed by them can only be purified from them, plus if it was that simple, my sister would have been freed from it when she became it the first time." replied Celestia.
Megan then changed the subject and mentioned, "Just yesterday the locket glowed as the very rainbow itself as it helped me use the cutie map as well as allow to be placeholder along with the Elements of Harmony, so maybe either of you can tell me tell me more about that."
Luna claimed, "Unfortunately, neither me or my sister know much about that actual history of either the Tree of Harmony, Elements of Harmony, or even the Rainbow of Light, as this was done by the pillars who have been lost in limbo since ancient times while we were just fillies when they first existed, so I'm sorry that we can't help you there."
After hearing that, Megan said, "I can understand that, and now it's probably time I head back home."
Celestia asked, "You will still come back to Equestria?"
Megan answered, "I have decided I won't be returning the Rainbow of Light to the Tree of Harmony, so you will be seeing my again in the near future."
Megan then returned home and realized the reason to why she didn't know originally to why Luna was Nightmare Moon as it even gave a better understanding to why it was kept from her at first.
Author's Note
If this was an actual episode, this would have been the introduction to where the Rainbow of Light would serve as a placeholder for any missing element from the Elements of Harmony, which would make Megan very useful for the Mane 6, plus it would start to make them wonder if it has actual connections to other elements as well.
