Previous ChapterTwilight Sparkle stared at Ocellus with wide eyes. "Ah, so you have caught me," the radiant mare intoned. "You have done well, My Little Changeling."
"But I... I don't understand. Why would you do something like this?"
"The Hive needed Twilight Sparkle," Twilight Sparkle said simply. "I have seen the future. I have done all of the calculations. If Twilight does not help the Hive grow, then approximately three hundred years from now, Equestria will fall to the forces of Chaos. I had to do it."
"I see."
"There is but one complication," Twilight replied. "One little miscalculation that I did not expect, and now I am at a loss."
"What is that?"
"I am... pregnant. I do not know how this is supposed to work, or how it is even possible. It should not have been possible.
Ocellus' eyes went wide as saucers, dwarfing Twilight's own. "I... I don't know!" she cried. "But... but I will talk to the real Twilight. Maybe... maybe she can help you."
"Perhaps. Twilight Sparkle has done much for me. Twilight Sparkle has done much for Equestria. And she still has so much more to do. And, in time, her Changeling offspring will change Equestria for the better, and even save all of ponykind. I would be honored to be the subject of her study."
"I'll ask her about it. I really must be going, though. Twilight needs another dose of ambrosia for the growing egg inside of her."
"I understand. Take care, My Little Changeling."
Ocellus smiled at Twilight Sparkle and turned away, leaving the radiant form of Twilight Sparkle–and the Tree of Harmony–behind.
