I gave a content sigh as I sat behind the wheel of my car, tapping my finger on the steering wheel. Sea Swirl sat in the passenger seat playing a game on her phone. The backdoor opened as Sunset, Berry and Fluttershy slid in the backseat. Fluttershy softly shut the door. I glanced back and gave a big grin.
“Hey guys.” I greeted as I saw Applejack shut my trunk after putting all their luggage in my trunk. She gave a wave before walking to her truck.
“Hey Shoeshine.” Sunset smiled at me. Berry hugged me from behind the seat and Fluttershy gave me a soft wave.
“Thank God Pinkie isn’t in this car. I’d kill myself. She would drive me absolutely insane with her antics.” I grumbled. I glanced in the rear view mirror and froze. A pink love bug pulled behind me and Pinkie waved. “Oh Christ. She’s driving. That’s even worse!” I turned and faced Fluttershy, pointing at her.
“Fluttershy!” She gave an eep and hid behind her hair. “Call Pinkie and tell her she is not driving behind me in any way, shape or form. She’ll probably try driving with her knees and kill us all.” The girl nodded shyly before typing on her phone. She held the phone up to her ear.
“Hi Pinkie uhm. We would feel more comfortable if you uhm didn’t drive behind us.” Fluttershy mumbled and I could hear a muffled “WHAT” come from the other end. Fluttershy shuddered.
“I mean if you didn’t want to drive ahead of us, that’s fine too.” She mumbled and I rolled my eyes.
“Sunset, take the phone and tell Pinkie that she is not allowed to drive behind us.” I said coolly as Sunset nodded, reaching for the phone. Sea Swirl looked up at me confused.
“What’s wrong with Pinkies driving?” She asked. I gave a shudder and looked at her.
“Trust me, you don’t want to know. She’s worse than Rarity.” I told her. She nodded quickly as a memory of Pinkie playing instruments while driving with her knees on the highway flashed through my mind. I don’t pray often, but God knows I was praying to every version of God imaginable that I died quickly at that moment.
“Pinkie says she’ll drive ahead of us. She says if she gets there first, we owe her a dozen cupcakes.” Sunset said as she handed Pinkie the phone. The pink Volkswagen passed us and Pinkie waved. Roseluck, Daisy and Lily were in the car with her.
“Thank the gods.” I muttered. Sunset grinned mischievously at me.
“You get to have Rarity drive behind you.” She teased. My eyes widened at the implication.
“Let’s just get going. It’s gonna take about three to four hours to get there.” I mumbled as I set the destination into my phones maps and hit start.
“Take a left on Oakwood Avenue and take Newayago Boulevard for ten miles.” My phone chimed at me.
“Thank you maps.” I said as I turned the car on and shifted into drive.
“You talk to your car and phone?” Sunset asked incredulously.
“Well duh. They deserve my respect. Take care of them and they’ll take care of you.” I stated firmly.
“That’s nice of you.” Fluttershy mumbled that I had to strain to hear her.
“That’s weird.” Sunset announced as I flicked my blinker on and turned down the same road as Pinkie. I glanced in the rear view mirror at her and the car behind me.
“Says the girl who named her leather jackets.” I taunted.
“Touche, Silverhair, touche.” Sunset admitted. I grinned in victory as I focused ahead of me. I reached out a hand and turned the radio on. My eyes lit up when i recognized the song and I turned the radio up loud. Sea Swirl covered her ears up and Fluttershy let out an eep.
“This is like the best song ever.” I said enthusiastically. “You stupid, sadistic abusive fucking whore would you like to see how it feels? Here it comes get ready to die,” I sang with the song. Sea Swirl uncovered an ear and turned the radio down. She shot me a dirty look.
“What on earth, Shoeshine? Are you trying to go deaf?” She demanded and I rolled my eyes.
“I liked that song, haven’t heard it in a while,” Fluttershy said softly. All of us stared at her in shock. Berry and Sunset were huddled against the window on their side staring at her. I smirked at Sea Swirl’s stunned face.
“Wow. I didn’t expect her to like Down with the Sickness or Disturbed,” I muttered as I shifted my attention back out the front window and pressed the gas.
She gave a faint smile at me.
“I am an enigma,” She muttered.
“Got that right,” I agreed.
“Shoeshine? Can we pull over at the next gas station?” Sea Swirl asked. “Bathroom break.”
I glanced down at my phone. We had about two more hours till we got to our destination. I was getting pretty damn tired of the constant stretch of highway. Berry was asleep on Sunset’s shoulder and Fluttershy was gazing out the window. Sunset was reading a book the entire way. Me and Sea Swirl had been talking pretty much the entire trip.
“Sure. We will stop at this next exit,” I told her as I flicked my turn signal on and got in the exit lane. Rarity flew past as Rainbow looked out the window at us. I turned right and pulled into the gas station. I put the car in park and Sea Swirl shot out the car.
“Wow. I guess she really had to go,” Sunset commented as she gently slid Berry’s head off her shoulder.
“Hey, Shy can you move real quick so I can stretch my legs and get us drinks?” Sunset requested. Fluttershy nodded and tried to open the door and nothing happened. I unlocked it.
“Sorry, it’s an old police car. The front doors will be unlocked and the back ones will be locked so the suspect doesn’t escape,” I explained as the two got out of the car. I stepped out and pressed down on the gas cover. Figured I’d get gas here since I was at under half a tank. I’m very anal about my car. I prefer to keep the oil and other fluids filled, the tires constantly full, windshield wipers replaced and the gas tank full. I swiped my card and waited a few seconds before selecting my gas choice. Sure, premium gas was expensive but give your car the best and your car will take car of you. I put the nozzle in the opening and pulled the handle, flicking the lever down to hold it in place. I leaned against the car watching the numbers increase. I gave a grimace when I saw how high it got. I pulled the nozzle out and put it back and took my receipt.
“Playing with the Queen of Hearts, knowing it ain’t really smart. The Joker ain’t the only fool who’ll do anything for you,” I softly sang under my breath as I watched Sunset and Sea Swirl coming out the station with drinks and snacks. I heard a rattle behind me and I glanced behind me at Applejacks truck stopping at the next pump. I walked over to her.
“Howdy, Shoeshine.” She tipped her hat as she got out and started paying for her gas. I leaned against her truck.
“Hey, AJ. Here to get gas?” I assumed that was the case obviously but making small talk starts with well, starting small.
“Yep. Ya in the same boat, Ah reckon,” She gestured at my car. I shrugged.
“Sea Swirl needed to use the bathroom and Sunset wanted snacks and to stretch her legs. Fluttershy went with, God knows where she is. I just wanna get there, I hate unplanned stops,” I grumbled.
Applejack chuckled.
“Ah’m the same way. Waste of time. It’s why I only brought Derpy with,” The grey girl waved from the passenger seat.
“Surprised she didn’t try to pump your gas. She’s the type to offer I feel,” I mused.
“She tried but Ah refused. Wouldn’t be kind of me.” Applejack waved a hand as she lifted the pump and stuck the nozzle into her truck.
“At least Sunset travels well. She’s been reading a book quietly the entire time. I am grateful that Sea Swirl is talkative. Fluttershy just watches the trees go by. Berry’s been asleep on Sunset’s shoulder since we got on the highway.”
“Derpy’s been fairly quiet. She talks here and there, mainly about her daughter,” Applejack admitted, her eyes on the numbers going up. Her eyes switched to my car.
“What kinda car is that?” She asked, nodding to it.
“Twenty fourteen Ford Explorer Police Interceptor. Bought from a dealership that was selling it. Retired straight from the state police. Came with the cage, rambar and spotlights,” I told her. She gave a whistle.
“Sounds like a mighty fine vehicle,” She commented.
“Comes with a twin turbocharger. She’s pretty damn quick. I love her a lot. She uses a lot of gas though because she has a gas leak,” I pointed to a hose hanging under the car and Applejack peered under it.
“Bring er by sometime to the farm and Ah’ll fix er up,” She announced with a smile.
“Are you sure? I’d hate to be a burden,” I mumbled. Applejack rolled her eyes at me.
“Ya ain’t being a burden, ya my friend. And friends help each other. Just like how you helped out at the farm that one time,” Applejack reminded me.
I nodded and rubbed my arm sheepishly.
“Sorry for how I acted before battle of the bands, being passive aggressive and all,” I waved a hand. “I’m not used to all this or friends or trips.”
Applejack sighed as she put the nozzle back.
“Ah understand. Change can be difficult, especially when you’ve only had three friends. If it’s any consolation, Ah think mighty high of ya. So does Pinkie and Rainbow. And Fluttershy obviously otherwise she wouldn’t be riding with ya,” Applejack pointed out.
“Point taken. Did you know Fluttershy likes Disturbed?” I asked.
Applejack smirked and nodded.
“Of course. Ah introduced her to em,” She said smugly. I stared at her.
“I didn’t expect that. I assumed you only liked country. Personally, I listen to anything. Rock, country, rap,” I explained.
“Ah listen to rock and country. Ain’t a huge rap fan,” Applejack admitted.
“I prefer old rap from the two thousands,” I admitted. A tap on the shoulder got my attention and I glanced behind me.
“Hey Fluttershy, what’s up?” I asked. She brushed a strand of pink hair out of her eyes.
“Uhm, we’re ready to go if you are. If you’re not busy of course.” She nodded towards Pinkie and Rarity waiting ahead of us.
“When the hell did they get here?” I asked aloud.
“Ah ain’t sure,” Applejack admitted.
“Uhm, thirty minutes ago,” Fluttershy mumbled.
“We haven’t been talking for thirty minutes,” I grumbled.
“Actually, we have. I quit pumping gas about twenty minutes ago,” Applejack admitted.
“Sorry. I didn’t mean to waste our time,” I mumbled.
“Don’t apologize, Ah’m honored ya opened up to me. Ah’ll see yall there,” Applejack said after placing a hand on my shoulder. She walked around her truck and got in the driver seat, starting it up. I quickly got in the driver seat and waited for Fluttershy to get in. She softly shut the door and put her seatbelt on. I turned the car on and put it into drive, pressing the gas.
I sped past Rarity and Pinkie smirking.
“Are we like racing or some shit?” Sunset demanded, holding onto her seatbelt and Berry. How she was still asleep, I have no clue.
“Yes,” I answered simply as I turned onto the highway and slammed on the gas.
“Take Interstate Seventy Four for ninety miles.”
“Thank you phone.”
“Hey Shoeshine,” Sea Swirl mumbled.
“Yeah?” I commented idly, watching the cars around me.
“Wanna play a game?”
“I’m driving.”
“Are you sure?”
I gave an exasperated sigh.
“Sea Swirl, I love you but I am not playing any hand games with you right now.” A snicker from the back seat got my attention and I glanced in the rear view mirror for a second. Sunset grinned at us mischievously.
“Is that what you guys call fingering each other?” She laughed. Fluttershy let out an eep and hid her red face behind her hair, Sea Swirl glared at Sunset and I gave a laugh. Berry was still asleep so she had no reaction.
“We haven’t had sex yet!” Sea Swirl exclaimed.
“Yet?” Sunset asked with a raised eyebrow and a smirk. I snorted a little and bit my lip. Sea Swirl shot me a look and I bit my lip harder to keep from laughing.
“No we haven’t. Just waiting for the right moment,” Sea Swirl announced, red faced. “I’m still a virgin, thank you very much.” Fluttershy slumped down further in her seat, face getting even redder.
Sunset burst out laughing at Fluttershys reaction and Berry woke up with a jump.
“What happened?” She asked sleepily. Sunset whispered in her ear and Berry started laughing while I smirked softly.
“Take exit seventy,” My phone chimed.
“Thank you, phone.” I flicked my turn signal on and started exiting the highway watching Rarity fly past.
“Uhm, she does know she passed our exit right?” Sea Swirl asked. I shrugged in response. I’ll never forget what the fuck I saw next. Rarity slammed on her breaks, pulled to the shoulder and started backing up on the shoulder on the highway. I stared in utter shock at the scene with Berry and Sea Swirl.
“No fucking way,” I said in utter disbelief. “I thought they were joking when they said she does that!”
“Oh my god,” Sea Swirl mumbled as Berry just stared at Rainbows terrified expression. Rarity passed us and I rolled my eyes at her. I can safely say I will never ride with Rarity in the same car if she is driving.
“That was the craziest thing I’ve ever seen,” I grunted and glanced in the rear view mirror. My eyes widened at the flashing lights behind me. “Shit!”
“I think we’re getting pulled over,” Sea Swirl smirked.
“Thanks for pointing that out,” I sighed and pulled over. I gave a sigh of relief when the police car flew past us.
“Thank god,” Sunset muttered. “Tickets are the worst.” I burst out laughing when the cop got behind Rarity’s car and hit his siren a few times.
“Well Rarity is gonna find out the hard way,” Berry laughed.
“Well sucks to be her,” I shrugged and pulled back onto the road. Thank God the stupid park thing was down the road. Traffic was the worst. Made me want to kill myself. I pulled into the parking lot and placed my hand on the back of Sea Swirl’s seat, backing into the parking spot.
“You love showing off, don’t you?” Sea Swirl smirked. I gave her a quick kiss as I put the car in park and shut it off.
“Gotta show off for my queen of course.”
“God, get a room already,” Sunset smirked.
“Oh we will,” I winked at Sea Swirl’s blushing face. “We have our own hotel room.”
“Don’t be too loud,” Berry giggled.
"I have gags just for that purpose," I grinned.
"I'm going to our room," Sea Swirl announced blushing and shot out of the car and into the hotel. Me, Berry and Sunset all made eye contact and burst out laughing while Fluttershy tried to hide behind her hair.
--------------------------------------‐----------------------
"Thank god we pack light unlike Rarity," I grunted as I shoved our suitcase into the corner. Sea Swirl placed her book down and crossed her legs and fixed her pillow. I tried to avoid thinking about being up in her skirt. Calm it down, Shoeshine. You can get off in the shower later, I reminded myself.
"I know right?" Sea Swirl giggled. "I don't know how she managed to fit all that in her trunk."
"It's a Tahoe. They have nice ass spacious trunks," I laid on our bed next to her.
"What do you wanna do now?" Sea Swirl asked. I rubbed my chin and grinned wickedly.
"I can think of something," I teased as I rolled on top of her and started to kiss her. She placed a hand on my chest.
"Just kissing right?" Sea Swirl asked and I nodded. Satisfied, she kissed me back. I gave a content sigh as I kissed back harder than her and pressed my tongue against her teeth. Her mouth opened slightly and I slid my tongue inside her mouth, my tongue swirling around hers. I stared into her bright raspberry eyes and stroked her cheek as we kept making out. The door slowly opened and our heads shot apart and stared at the door.
"We're going on some rides darlings. Wanna come-?" Rarity paused and stared at our blushing faces. She gave us a mischievous grin. "Sorry for interrupting a make out session. Figured we would invite you two."
"It's fine," I sighed and Rarity nodded.
"God damn it," Sea Swirl panted. "It was getting good."
"Well we can make out again later tonight," I teased with a wink. I honestly really enjoyed kissing her, it was a fun experience every time. Sea Swirl gave me a quick kiss and smiled.
"Got that right."
