Today was the Wonderbolts day off. However I did not want to spend this beautiful chance to see the Equestria that I had seen in flybies. I had to to go somewhere where i could relax and still enjoy myself. So after thinking the matter over, I decided to go to the Earth-Pony town of Ponyville and spend my day wandering around seeing the sights and enjoying my day off.
Everything was perfect, Cheerilee's class was in session, Carousel Boutique was empty as usual, and the birds were happily flying and singing their happy tunes. One lace i hadn't been to in quite a while though was Twilights Library, so I strolled down street not trying to rush being that I had all day to get there. once I entered the massive tree structure, I was greeted by Spike Twilight's purple-green baby dragon, who was sweeping the floors.
"Hello Soarin," he said with a smile, waving."What brings you to the library today?
"Nothing in particular, I was just browsing through to see if I could find anything that strikes my fancy."
"Alright then just give me a shout if you need help finding anything."
'Will do," I replied with a smile as I trotted over to a shelf that was full of old books on numerous topics.
Several hours had past as i had found several books that caught my attention, and I had eventually snaked my way around the entire library reading and browsing as I went. Eventually i made to a back room that appeared to be the largest room in the tree, but was somewhat hidden from somepony that might have looked from the main foyer. Inside this chamber of the tree was shelves upon shelves of old dusty books, that all looked unusually ornate, almost like one of Twilights magic books, that she kept to herself. But these ones appeared different, they looked older, more, fantastic in appearance. So as i continued to browse through, one in perticular caught my eye.
The book that i saw was smaller than the other ones but had, twice if not three times the detail of design on the spine of the book. So I went to grab it, however, it was stuck almost like it was glued to the shelf. So, I carefully removed the books near the special one and set them carefully down on an old nightstand. When i finally removed enough books, I went to pickup the book. With a good tug, I managed to pull it out. Across the top it read, THE FORGOTTEN ONES. Before I had gotten the chance to look inside the book, the floor seemed to have fallen out from beneath me. I didnt believe so I looke down to see if my feet had deceived me, they hadn't and I was free falling for about a hundred feet until I hit the ground.
I was knocked out for what felt like ten minutes, but it must have been longer. When I finally gathered my bearings, and my eyes adjusted to the darkeness, I saw a small chamber that had what appeared to be symbols all over the wall. I investigated the room for a few more minutes before finally seeing a giant, odd looking figure. It looked kind of like a pony that stood on his baleges but on his front hooves there were more tinier hooves at the tips of them. He was wearing lots of metal on him, I thought to myself, This thing must be crazy, why would it be wearing all that metal on him. It was also appearing to be holding what from what Zecora had said before, a sword.
I walked slowly towrd it to get a closer look at the mysterous creature, that just stood appearimg to pay no attention to me, or he might have been sleeping. When I got within a few I noticed it had one symbol on it that I recognized. This symbol was the one my mother had taught me as a young foal, I believe its meaning was Energy Spawn. I think it was said Hanu'ut. Without thinking however I said the word aloud.
As soon as the word came out of my mouth, a wall of energy exploded from the figure, who had also shifted when I said the word. It's movements were magnificent, gracefull yet if I was any closer, I would have been sliced to bits. The thing swung his sword in giant loop and arcs in the space around him, causing it almost to feel like a fan was blowing in my direction. All of the suuden it stopped, but after a few second his eyes began to glow a flaming red as his body shifted towards my direction. I froze in horror as it started to move towards me , but when it got not even a foot away from my nose, it picked me up.
As soon as I got eye level with it, I looked at his eyes, which were absolutely mesmerizing. In an instant I felt a sharp pain in my head as if it had stabbed me in the brain. not even twenty seconds later the pain stopped and a voice appeared in my head.
"Do not fear me little one I mean you no harm. My name is Tarchos, I am a being of light and energy. My species, much like the capricon are made of energy. My people were onced a great race that ruled over this land before your ponykind took form and roamed this land.
I am however one of the only survivors of my race. The others, like me are scattered and buried deep beneath the Earth. The reason for some of us going underground was because of a great war that lasted centuries. Our people waged war on each other with magical weapons that poluted the very soil you stand on, causing the gems and life forms to receive this magical waste.
The war started over a fued for territory in what you now call Manehattan. Two mana farmers got in a fued over a small creek. They later asked for friends help, it later went to the nation being split, and finally led to pointless killing of each other because of the side they were on. no one even knew why they were fighting before to long. I was one of the eldest of my race, fight for neither side, as it was a simple fued. Eventually I had had enough and burrowed deep beneath the Earth like some of my brothers and sisters before me had done.
I had chosen to do so at the perfect time, because not two days after I sealed myself from the outside world a major magical shift, causing distortions in the magical fields all around the globe. Then a thousand years later, i felt a new, weaker magic source from above. This I knew, had to be a new race populating the Earth. And then my young friend our paths of destiny crossed. Sadly however, it was not meant to intertwine our fates by what you ponies call Friendship.I was destined to tell you of a dark secret that will change all you know, have known, and will ever know.
My small friend, a terrible a terrible disaster is falling upon us. An apocalypse is coming very soon. prepare yourself. I have created a link between our minds so we may contact each other anytime of dire need. But for now I must bid you farewell
At the last of his words his connection with me telepathically was severed. The massive being, Tarchos slowly moved back to his origional position, and slowly, his eyes dimmed out. I stood there for several more minutes pondering what had just happened before finally flying out of the chamber and reaching the surface.
It had gotten quite dark since I had fallen into the cavern, but the library was still open. I was carrying the book that had triggered the floor to fall, so I replaced it where I found it and the floor returned to normal. Spike was still doing chores on the upper section of the library, so I decided to leave him alone and left the library.
I headed towards Sugar Cube Corner to get the Best pie in the world, the apple pie. It was crowded as usual, but didn't mind. When I got my pie I left and took flight heading back to my home in Cloudsdale. As I left I saw all the other ponies closing shop and leaving for homes. I however took a slow flight up because I was trying to eat the pie while it was still warm. Which by the way I do not recommend to anyone, because I ran into Derpy as she was flying by, to get back home herself. I apologized and kept going home.
Once I arrived I saw just what I had seen in Ponyville, everypony going home. I had the same idea, so I trotted home.
