Elements Awoken
He woke up in his cave, started his daily routine, rubbing his gauntlets activating a green goo that came from the reaction of the moss. He shook off the sore feeling from the fight he had earlier. “Always good to see the sun.” The voice said as he stepped outside eating a leg of a dragon he killed yesterday. “Hopefully the dragons won’t mind about one of their subordinates going missing.” He thought to himself as we walked around the Everfree forest, the small bits of sunlight shimmering off kirin’s obsidian black scales. After roaming for a while the Kirin had heard a sound one unfamiliar to him, the noise of a festival of some sort. “If I check it out, what's the possibility of someone seeing me?” The kirin said, walking towards the noise.
“Come one come all try your best to claim a prize!” A pony shouted through a megaphone as the kirin laid down on a hill a little ways away from the festival.
“Strange a festival this far out in monster territory.” The kirin said as he gripped the gauntlets in his hands. “Who cares if a few ponies get killed, they know what happens when they travel into monster turf.” He said standing up and walking off only to hear the roar of another kirin turned feral. “Damn it.” He said as he jumped into the way of the feral kirin giving him a flurry of punches, and leaving him covered in a green slime. “A Tigrex, typical they are never able to control their hunger.” The obsidian kirin says holding the orange and blue kirin with a rounder shout and wings on his arms. “Kid needs to get his instincts under control.” the obsidian kirin says as he hears more rustling in the woods and his slime turning orange then red on the Tigrex’s scales.
“Who is there?” A feminine voice calls as the slime on the Tigrex explodes alerting her to the position. “Put your claws up Kirin, you are under arrest.”
“And if i don’t comply with this arrest.” The kirin asks as the guard holds her spear towards him.
“You will be hunted as a monster just as he is.” The guard says as she points her spear to the Tigrex.
“So you admit that you were hunting this Tigrex? You do know how old this one is, right?” The kirin says without moving. “Six he is nothing more than a child and you sentence him to death.”
“A murderer is a murderer.” The guard says starting to move closer. “Now put your claws up.”
“Alright.” The obsidian kirin says dropping the young Tigrex.
Suddenly as almost instantaneous the Tigrex had hit the floor it had woken up with blood pumping red veins appearing on his orange scales. “Arugh!” the kirin roared, flapping his arms, carrying him to the sky.
“Claws up monster!” The guard shouts as the obsidian kirin rubbed his gauntlets together.
“Kid, you're making it worse on yourself!” The kirin shouted jumping up and grabbing the young monster by the tail slamming him into the ground.
“Why are you fighting me?!” The Tigrex shouts as he is pummeled by the obsidian kirins glowing gauntlets.
“Because through all the stuff we go through murder is never the answer unless it’s in self defense or a hunt.” The obsidian kirin said as he got up and walked to the guard counting down. “Kaboom.” he said as the explosion went off leaving the kid burned and scared.
“Wait the explosives you can’t be.” The guard says as the obsidian kirin pops a smile. “A Brachydios!”
“Yep little pony now you are taking me into custody, or am I free to go?” Brachydios says with his hammer-like tail hitting the ground. The guard shook as she put the cuffs on the kirin who stood about the height of a horse. Once the two monsters had been subdued and put into custody the guard had called for backup from two others, a pegasus and another unicorn who seemed to be taller than the rest.
“Two fugitives?” The unicorn asked.
“No. just one, the other one is an ally I guess. He subdued an enraged Tigrex.” The smaller unicorn said as the taller male walked up.
“Crist he enraged? You are lucky to be alive, Private Snow.” The larger unicorn said as he saw the young Tigrex being carted off.
“Thank you Captain Armor.” Snow Flurry said as they looked at the monster of a kirin in front of them.
“Look if you are willing to come into a court hearing against this monster you will be set free.” Shining Armor said as the Brachydios looked away with his red eyes closing. “Look, do you have a name?”
“No. We monsters don’t give names to our children, because we won’t see most of them after a while.” The Brachydios said before pausing looking up to the sky. “Kinda like how a mother will never see her child after today. Though I guess if I was to give myself a name I guess ” he said looking at the mark on his flank. “Obsidian Fury.”
“I was going more towards Bombardier or Concussion.” Snow said as an attempt to lighten the mood to the dismay of both larger males.
“If I could demote you for that I would.” Armor said with a nod from Obsidian.
Once the guards had chained up the Tigrex and walked off with Shining Armor, Snow Crystal, and Obsidian Fury had walked in another direction to the fairgrounds. As they walked on site the sounds of ponies whispering as the chained kirin were louder than the sounds of the festival. Amused by the whispers Obsidian looked up at some of them giving a smile revealing his teeth which made even more noise among the crowd. As he looked he also saw some kirin in the crowd, however unlike the carnivorous kirin who were shunned from society, these herbivorous kirin were welcomed just like any other pony. “So this is what it is like to be an animal in a zoo.” Obsidian said with a laugh, one that sounded more like a roar.
“Calm it down big guy, you can’t make a scene right now.” Shining said as they left the grounds eventually walking into a small town that had many lights and decorations.
“What’s with the party?” Obsidian asked as he looked around at the oranges and blues that covered the town.
“Summer Sun Celebration that’s taking place tomorrow.” Shining says as they reach the jail behind the courtroom. “You will be out in the morning till then get some rest.”
In the morning the guard had opened the cell and called out to Obsidian “you are free to go, the celebration starts soon so go have fun.”
“Thank you officer.” Obsidian says as he walks out and follows the crowd into a gathering hall. Once the celebration had been underway Obsidian had partially spaced out from the speech the mayor was giving and started to doze off when the gasps of the crowd snapped him awake.
“Oh my beloved subjects, it has been so long since I saw your sun loving faces.” A black mare stated as the groweds eyes went from confused to in fear.
“Great another instance of royalty.” Obsidian said to himself starting to walk out till the sound of lighting forced him to turn. “Great so the black mare is not the only problem now a kirin is in the mix.”
“So one of us what’s to play around with ponies then let’s dance Brachydios.” the Spanish-like voice says as Obsidian turns to look at the two pitch black adversaries.
“Nargacuga. I remember fighting some of you cats before.” Obsidian said walking out only to be followed by the two as they flew off into the sky. After the debacle he had followed some ponies or to be more specific the trail dark bluish purple of clouds to a library hearing a conversation, but only hearing what he thought was a location. “Eeverfree, that's not too far from my cave. If I'm lucky, maybe I can beat that cat to it and claim the thing for lunch.” Obsidian thinks to himself, noticing the blue mist flying off.
Once at the forest he noticed a group of ponies about to go into the forest as he walked by trying not to interrupt the meeting they had. “Hey what are you doing going into the forest?” The purple one said as Obsidian rubbed his fists together.
“Going out for a Nargacuga hunt.” Obsidian said being as energized as ever.
“Why not let us travel with you? They say safety in numbers.” The orange one said as they walked up to him.
“Fine, just don’t slow me down.” Obsidian scoffed as they started walking.
After a bit he had noticed the blue one of the group teasing some of the other members as the ground eventually gave out and they all started to fall minus the two pegasus among them. “Augh!” they screamed as some were saved by the pegasus or in the case of the orange one themselves.
“Shit the cliff!” Obsidian thought to himself as they approached the drop. “Grab my claw!” Obsidian said, reaching for the purple pony eventually throwing her up towards the others only for himself to fall off the cliff. “Here we go!” Obsidian thought as he approached the ground claws first only to be slowed then stopping mid air bay a mix of Pegasus strength and unicorn magic. "Thanks for that." Obsidian said landing on the ground.
"No problem after all what are friends for." The orange one said as Obsidian and the purple unicorn flinched at the statement.
"Guys what's that?" The blue one asks as the cry of a fight between two monsters flows through the sky.
"From what I can see a Doragyurosu and Manticore, best leave it alone if they are hunting then let them hunt.” Obsidian says walking by the fight only to get caught up in it by a whip from Doragyurosu catching his arm and trying to pull him in. "Hey knock it off!” Obsidian called out trying to dig his feet into the ground.
"Hehe.” Doragyurosu giggles as she pulls him closer and closer to her stinger-like tail with two ribbon-like strands of scales beside it. Once Obsidian was in range she threw the Manticore away at the approaching ponies and tried to launch her long hooked appendage on each wing at Obsidian only for the hooks to be punched away. "Oh some enticing prey I wonder how long I can play with you?” She questioned as her mane turned from white to red.
"Dragonblight my favorite.” Obsidian said as a jolt of black lightning turned off his explosive slime.
"Lets see how you fight now Brachydios!” Doragyurosu said as they started to duel with punches being hit till Doragyurosu dropped her which allowed Obsidian to move freely.
“Weapons are cheap, you know.” Obsidian said as his slime glowed back to life. “Especially those that trap someone.” As Obsidian said this she turned her head to look at the ponies calming down the manticore. “Looks like you have a choice now to continue our fight or stand down.” Obsidian said as she started to laugh.
“Stop, I'm just getting started!” Doragyurosu screeched trying her hooks again but this time with an added dragon breath that hit blinding Obsidian causing the hooks to dig into his scales. “There now you are trapped with me!” Doragyurosu shouted, starting to charge her dragonblight.
“No you’re stuck with me!” Obsidian called out grabbing the hood appendages and pulled her into punching distance. Rubbing his fists together to temper the slime into turning orange. “GRAH!” He shouted as he started punching slime exploding on contact with the softer under scales of the white and gray kirin.
“I yield!” Doragyurosu as Obsidian’s eyes glowed a dark red.
“But I don’t!” Obsidian shouted as he felt something come over him, a voice telling him to stop, after another two minutes of fighting blood over the ground and Doragyurosu bruised and bloodied. “Now get up and fly home or get lost.” Obsidian said as his slime turned green and his cuts had closed.
Doragyurosu laughed as she blinked at Obsidian quickly as if trying to get pity from the same kirin she just stabbed in her fury. “You wouldn’t let little old me out to die now would you?”
“Fine, just don’t cause any more trouble to the group and you can stay.” Obsidian said, handing her the whips back.
She grabbed the whips and placed them to the sides of her tail. “Thank you gentleman.” Doragyurosu said with a teasing voice.
“Let’s get moving. I bet they have made ground on us.” Obsidian said running off into the forest with the others not far behind.
“Who are they?” Doragyurosu askes flying beside the group.
“A Nargacuga and some other mare who claim to be all powerful.” Obsidian says as the purple pony interrupts.
“Her name is Nightmare Moon, and she is trying to keep the world in eternal night.”
“That does sound like Nargacuga heaven.” Doragyurosu as she looked to see the river up ahead and flew faster with Obsidian right on her trail.
“Wait, we are smaller, and can’t run as fast!” One of the ponies said but fell on deaf ears as they had moved out of the forest and into a clearing with the ponies nowhere in sight.
“Where are the little ones?” Doragyurosu asked as Obsidian shrugged and tracked the river's rapids alone with the thunderous wyvern not too far behind. “Hey Brachydios, there is a cliff up ahead. What's your plan?”
“Jump it we are kirin after all what good are powerful legs if not to jump over cliffs to the other side.” Obsidian said as Doragyurosu rolled her eyes after all she never told him there was another side. A grunt was heard from the large kirin as he jumped from one side of the cliff to the other with a clean landing. “See not hard for us ground lovers. Oh hey Doragyurosu if you were to give yourself a name what would it be?” Obsidian asked, saying her name got tiring to him.
“How’s Rose Whip?” Doragyurosu said with a nod from Obsidian approving of the name. Suddenly from the mist Nargacuga came out with her tail already filled with spines.
“Well well well If it isn't our raging friend, and who’s this the wyvern I set up to try and kill you?” Nargacuga said as the red fur around her eyes started to glow and leave a trail around her. “What’s with the silence going to make your move?”
“I Don’t need to just tune out your damn rambling and this fight will be a breeze.” Obsidian said as the Nargacuga vanished in front of him.
“Just had to speak now she has gone to Lucent.” Rose says as the two start to run away from the heavily wooded area and into a field not too far away.
“Yeah this is starting to get interesting.” Nargacuga said as she pulled out her twin daggers and started to slash at the two kirin even putting some spines in both Obsidian and Rose as the assault went on.
“Rose make us a dragonblight smokescreen!” Obsidian commanded as the smoke was produced and Nargacuga became visible to them. “Dragonblight has the ability to remove effects. Sadly this means even my punches won’t be ass explosive but don’t worry I have many to throw.” Obsidian says as his eyes shimmers and the onslaught of punches comes down on the black kirin’s soft hide breaking a bone or two.
As Obsidian is throwing blow after blow a bright shine appears in the sky as a rainbow of magic shoots down on a part of the old castle. “Ragh!” Nargacuga shouts as she pushes Obsidian off of her and on the ground only to start slamming him with her tail. Rose was off to the side wanting to step in but didn’t know how till she went with her gut, and stabbed Nargacuga with her hooks, and shot dragon energy through them into Nargacuga.
As Nargacuga screamed in pain the floor had given out and the three fell into a cave that held a small black tree, and five black rocks. Almost as if the tree had called them, the three stop fighting and the black rocks shatter into gems that attach to each of the kirin’s horns. “The hell?” Obsidian said, trying to pull off the green ring from his horn on his head.
“You three are part of the Elements of Leadership.” A voice called as the three sat in amazement, there stood in front of a vision of the god of kirin, one of the original monsters White Fatalis. As he stood there in front of them they could hear his booming voice despite him not talking once. “Brachydios you have inherited the Element of Power from me. Use it wisely to conquer your foes. Doragyurosu you have inherited the Element of Hope from Kulve Taroth. Use it to help bring peace to your allies. You Nargacuga have the Element of Courage from Valstrax. Use it to help your allies gain knowledge of their foes. For all of you I have unlocked a secret held in our kind for eons the ability to shift back into your primal state.” White Fatalis says as the other two elements shake. “These last two elements will find someone soon just know when they do. You will have to teach them the meaning of being a holder or maybe you will learn together.” White Fatalis says as the sun starts to rise and the monsters are warped back to the castle unscathed but confused.
“Where is Nightmare?!” Nargacuga shout’s only to see the now shattered form that she took.
“She is gone, I'm what she has become.” Luna said as she and her sister stood next to the kirins.
“Strangely no one told us about the other three elements.” Celestia says as the group starts to leave the castle and make their way back to Ponyville.
