All over Equestria, ponies are vanishing in the dead of the night. The planet is under attack by an unkown, deadly force. The council of nations approves the last resort: the X-Com project.

Captain Shining Armor is recruited as a commander for the X-Com project. Overwhelmed by the sheer scale of the situation, his first decision shall be the one that has the most dire consequences:

He recruits the elements of harmony.

They will have to find their place in the organization, they will have to work hard, fight hard, deal with pain, loss and suffering. They will have to outmaneuver, outsmart and eventually outgun their enemy to save Equestria, ponykind and even the very planet from complete destruction.

I will add new chapters to this story as I finish them.

Concerning the story itself: I am aware there is another X-Com fic, but this here will be different in a lot of respects. First of all, I was inspired by the reimagening of the first game and will propably end up mixing the two original games (TftD and Enemy Unknown) with the new X-Com strategy game. With the writing itself, I will stick to third person and I will wirte the strategy sequences in a more detached way and the combat in a more personal, visceral and emotional way, trying to capture the feeling of the games while staying true to the MlP characters.

The mane six will end up in the science, engineering and combat teams of X-Com and I will try to write combat from their perspective.

Anyway, this is my first release on Fimfiction, so criticize me as good as you can. I will take anything to heart, from a complete analysis to "LOL FAG LRN2WRITE".

But whatever you do: Enjoy the ride, it will be a long one.
