Dragon Kisses

Natural habitat, I think to myself as those words keep rolling around in my head and I magically bring my blue spoon pipe to my face for another hit…

“So, are you starting to get it now?” Silva asks me from her seat across the table as she looks at me with those sparkling eyes I can’t seem to take my mind off of…

I exhale smoke and set the pipe on the table with my magick before adjusting my gaze to her, “I think so? You’re tired of being lonely and so you’d very much like to make somepony happy! And you’re choosing me because you’re clearly a lunatic and out of your mind!”

She giggles and shakes her head, “Good enough!”

When suddenly, there’s a knock on the door! I blankly stare up…

“Are you sure you’re okay to answer it Skyfire?”

I scoot the chair back and get off of it, “Why wouldn’t I be?” before turning and trotting back towards the front door in the wooden room… I travel about 15 feet before magically opening the portal to see a smiling kirin on the other side…

She has a pale yellow body, an auburn mane, striking yellow eyes, and a big grin on her face! Her horn starts out as a single stump before spreading into two a few inches above as she excitedly says to me, “Hiya Skyfire! I understand that you have no friends? That made me sad and I just felt like we should meet and maybe start talking and maybe have some sort of connection?” before staring at me expectantly with that jubilant expression on her muzzle.

I recognize this kirin as I widen my eyes, “Oh, hey! You were the kirin who started talking earlier and got kicked out of town! Uh, why are you here?”

Her eyes widen, “Well, because you have no friends!”

“Well actually, I do now! So bye!” I say before magically shutting the door and turning to trot back towards Silva and my pipe…

Silva looks up at me, “Who was that?”

“I don’t know! She didn’t say!” I say before plopping my body back in the chair and using my magick to lift the pipe and red disposable lighter sitting on the table.

Silva frowns, “What do you mean, she didn’t say?”

I look up, “Well, I shut the door before we got that far! You see, she told me she wanted to be my friend and I told her I didn’t need that anymore, since I got you now...” before the pipe floats back into my mouth and the lighter moves into place at the side…

I fire up and take another hit as Silva gets up from the table while saying, “Smoke your pipe Skyfire! I’ll go check it out!”

Now, the thing was, I really should’ve stopped smoking and got Silva to stop and not go to the door right then… I know this… I also know that I did no such thing!

I hear her talking to the mystery kirin, “I’m sorry for my friend! She’s uh, not really here right now! Uh, how may I assist you?”

The other kirin speaks as I take another drag from my pipe, “Oh, hiya! My name is Autumn Blaze and well, I’ve been writing to Princess Twilight Sparkle in Equestria, and she’s been telling me how making more friends was good for the community! And well, I see Skyfire in town all the time, but she’s always alone! I just thought that maybe, she could use a friend and that’s why I’m here! Uh, wow! You have a really nice necklace!”

Silva is silent for a moment before finally saying, “Could you come back in about thirty minutes please?”

I hear the other kirin say, “Oh uh, sure thing!”

Silva replies, “Thank you! I promise, this won’t take long!”

There’s a brief silence and I could swear I heard some mumbling while I inhale more smoke from the neck of my pipe, before I hear the latch catches, snap! Silva trots back to the table where I’m already taking another hit with the lighter burning in from the right side…

She stares down at me…

I exhale smoke and stare forward blankly… I eventually turn my head right to her as my pipe floats in the air over the table and I widen my eyes to stare into the azure gaze of this other kirin, “So wait! What?”

Silva smiles and nods, “Well, Autumn Blaze is coming by in about thirty minutes and she said she wanted to…”

“Play some Scramble!” The excited off-yellow kirin suddenly spoke from her place at the table!

I abruptly snap back to reality when I think that herb was a bit stronger than I thought and I quickly found myself deeply involved in a game of Scramble with two other kirin! I stared at Autumn Blaze in front of me and widen my eyes, “Uh, you go first!”

“Sure thing, new friend!” Autumn says while placing emphasis on those words as my brain struggles to process things while slowly coming back into orbit… She looks down at the table and her letters before forming the word, CATCH with her letters and saying. “Alright, that’s five letters! You go ahead, Skyfire!”

I blink, “W-what?” before staring down and suddenly noticing that there’s letter tablets in front of me…

Silva from my left looks at me and says, “It’s your turn now, Skyfire!”

I widen my eyes! “Oh! Right! Scramble!” before looking down at my letters and thinking to myself…

Silva looks over at Autumn, “So uh, you wanted to give Skyfire here friendship?”

Autumn smiles at Silva and excitedly says, “Oh, yes! I know how loneliness can just get to ya and I thought I should help her!”

I form the words CAT with my letters off of her C before looking up at the yellow kirin, “Wait! You felt sorry for me?”

Autumn smiles at me, “Well, yeah! Everypony deserves to have friendship and love!”

I briefly glance to my left at the blue kirin sitting there before back at Autumn, “You don’t say?”

She nods, “Oh, I do say! You were alone earlier and look at you now! You got two new friends!” before smiling at me widely…

Suddenly, Silva turns her gaze left towards me and says, “Skyfire, I need to go to the bathroom! Uh…” before looking down at her letters and then magically arranging the word CATASTROPHE on the board and saying, “I believe that’s a triple word score? I’ll be right back!” before scooting her chair back and trotting behind me towards the latrine…

I look up at the smiling yellow kirin in front of me and think that for the past two days, I haven’t really had anypony to talk to except Silva Dawn, “Uh, Autumn?”

Her eyes widen, “Oh, yes?”

I cough briefly before composing myself and staring back at her, “Uh, so why today of all days?”

She frowns, “What do you mean?”

I repeat myself, “Why today?”

“Oh! Well, why not today? It seemed like a good day for friend making?”

I sigh, “I know but…” I blink and stammer. “But between you and Silva, this is all just so much, you know?”

She frowns, “What do you mean?”

I blink, “I was alone for all this time… And now, there’s two of you!”

She smiles, “Isn’t that wonderful? Now you have two new friends!”

I enlarge my view, “NO it is NOT! Now, I have to worry about both of you!”

Her grin lowers, “W-what?”

I gaze back at the other kirin, “Think about it! Now, I have to maintain these friendships with two new kirin!” I shake my head. “I didn’t have to do that before! It wasn’t an issue, and now…”

She nods, “Well, right! I always thought of friendship as a labor of love though, honestly!”

“What do you mean?”

“Well, it’s something that you should enjoy doing!”

I frown, “But what if I screw it up by saying or doing the wrong thing? What if Silva hates me forever?”

She smiles, “You can’t give up your laughter cause you’re scared of a little pain!” and nods. “If you mess up, you can always make amends and patch things up…”

I throw my hooves out with an exasperated, “And that’s just more work!” before bringing them back down to stare at the other kirin. “I wouldn’t have to do these things if I were still by myself!”

“Labor of love, remember?”

I sigh and blink at her, “Well, at least I know you’ll be easy to satiate!”

She frowns, “What? Me? No, not me! I’m hard to please!”

“Really?”

She smiles at me again, “No! Not really!”

I grimace, “Knock it off, Autumn!”

Her face normalizes, “So uh, Silva said you’d been hanging out for a couple of days? How’s that been going?”

I widen my eyes again, “Weird!”

Her eyes widen, “What? Why weird?”

I sigh and look down before back at the other kirin, “Well, we’ve been really close…”

“Isn’t that a good thing?”

“Um,” I glance off to the side, “probably? But uh,” I don’t know how to speak to her?”

“Well, have you ever tried?”

My own view enlarges, “What? Uh, yes! Of course! I’ve told her all about my feelings!”

Suddenly, I hear a familiar voice, “Really? Cause I could’ve sworn you were holding back?”

My eyes widen, “Silva! You need to tell me when you’re sneaking up behind me!”

I hear a faint giggling, “So uh, you said something about feelings?”

I turn my body to the right in the chair and crane my head over my shoulder to stare at the blue kirin, “What? Feelings? Noooooo! Nothing about feelings!” before smiling widely at her…

At that point, Silva surprised me… She craned her own neck to bring her face really close to mine, so that I felt the heat her voice as she smiled and replied, “It’s okay Skyfire… I like you too…”

I...can’t really explain my next actions… I don’t know why I would ever do such a thing, but… I looked directly into Silva Dawn’s eyes and moved my face the necessary few inches to bring my lips to hers and I planted a loving smooch on her lips…

I suddenly hear the yellow kirin fawning from across the table, “AWWWWWWW!!!!”
