“Thanks for agreeing to come with Sunset,” Diamond Tiara hugged the older girl after they set their bags down.
“Are you kidding? This sounded awesome. Especially with you here kid,” Sunset grinned as she hugged back and ruffled the girls hair, looking around the cabin on the top of the mountain. She glanced out the window and admired the snowy landscape.
“Are you sure you don’t want me to carry the bags to your room, Miss Tiara?” Randolph asked. The butler had driven them up on Diamonds request. Her parents originally were going to come but canceled due to business obligations. At first Diamond was going to cancel herself but her new friend Kettle Corn encouraged her to invite Sunset out and she decided to do so. To her surprise, Sunset agreed in a heartbeat.
“I’m sure. And please call me Diamond, Randolph. No Miss Tiara,” Diamond smiled.
“Of course Miss Tiara,” Randolph said with a nod and stepped out of the room. Diamond Tiara gave a sigh and rolled her eyes.
“I hate when he calls me that. Makes me feel like my old stuck up self instead of the new me,” Diamond grumbled. Sunset gave a shrug as she grabbed her suitcase.
“Probably old habit for him. You said he was in the family before you were born right?”
“Yeah. He got hired around the time dad was twelve. He practically raised me,” Diamond carried her own suitcase up the stairs. She opened the door and rolled her suitcase in.
“That’s kinda depressing really,” Sunset frowned slightly as she opened the door of her own room and placed her suitcase down. “I’m sorry your parents didn’t spend much time with you.”
“Meh. It’s whatever I guess. I have you,” Diamond shrugged. “There’s always a silver lining. Is that the term?”
“Yeah it is. At least you are starting to see the positive of situations,” Sunset patted her on the head with a grin. She flopped backwards on her bed and stretched out her legs and arms.
“I suppose you’re right,” Diamond admitted. “What do you wanna do first?”
“Take a nap. I’ve been up all night helping Rainbow Dash with her guitar,” Sunset groaned. “She’s a good friend but she’s crazy. She spends hours tuning her guitar when it’s perfectly fine. She reminds me of Octavia in that regard.” Diamond let out a giggle at that.
“I can see that. Everyone can be a perfectionist in their own way.” Diamond Tiara knew that very well, she was one in her own way. If any of her paintings didn’t go the way she wanted, she flew into a uncharacteristic rage and threw it away. Fluttershy had been helping her tone down her rages a bit on Sunset’s request.
“Got that right,” Sunset shook Diamond from her musing. “What do you typically do while you’re here?”
“Well typically me and Silver Spoon would do random stuff. Movies, popcorn the likes. We typically did whatever came our way,” Diamond paused. “That came out a bit wrong.” Sunset snorted and rolled her eyes.
“It did now that you mention it,” Sunset chuckled. “I hope not.” Diamond blushed and looked away.
“I’m still a virgin so no I’m not pulling a Cherry Crash,” Diamond mumbled sheepishly. The two knew the rumors about Cherry Crash being promiscuous around the school. Sunset gave a nod her way.
“Good. Gotta look out for my little sis,” Sunset winked at her. Sunset was surprised at how much she fell in love with the purple and white haired girl. Platonically, mind you. Sunset really would prefer to avoid a criminal charge. At first she just looked out for her to make sure she didn’t try to commit suicide again but when the two hung out more and more, Sunset herself adopted the girl as her sister akin to Rainbow and Scootaloo. Minus the sports and constant competition.
“Thanks,” Diamonds blush faded. “We have the place to ourselves except for Randolph. What now?”
“We can sit and talk for a bit if you want. I’m kinda tired after that long drive,” Sunset shrugged. It had been about a six hour drive up there.
“Me too,” Diamond admitted and sat down next to her.
“You slept the entire way here!” Sunset teased with a grin. That was true, Diamond had slept on her shoulder the entire way. How she could sleep in cars was beyond her. Sunset definitely couldn’t do that no matter how tired she was.
“I was comfortable!” Diamond retorted. “I don’t know what I was sleeping on but it was comfy.”
“My shoulder,” Sunset smirked. “Glad to know I’m part pillow.”
“Part pillow, part human, part pony thing,” Diamond grinned.
“Unicorn. I’m a unicorn,” Sunset sighed. The two had talked extensively about Equestria and what it was like.
“Right. I’ll be right back,” Diamond stood up and darted out the room. Sunset stared after her curiously. Sunset sighed and started playing on her phone. Diamond slid back into the room and handed Sunset a picture frame.
“What’s this?” Sunset asked as she picked up and stared with wide eyes.
“Picture of us at the fair I took you to,” Diamond grinned. “Like it?”
“I love it!” Sunset stood up and gave her a hug, squeezing her tightly. “It’s going on my nightstand when I get back home.”
“I’m glad you like it,” Diamond eagerly returned the hug. “I have an idea of what we can do.”
“Oh yeah? What’s that?” Sunset questioned.
“Skiing!” Diamond grinned again. “I’ve always wanted to but Silver Spoon was too scared to do it.”
“Let’s go,” Sunset shrugged and stood up. “I’ve never gone either so it’ll be a learning experience for us both.”
“Wait really?” Diamond stared in surprise. She didn’t actually expect her to say yes. Silver always had said no to her requests and begging.
“Well duh. If you’re interested in going, I’m down. I’ll probably fall on my ass but it’s gonna be fun,” Sunset explained with a grin of her own. “You get to laugh at me and I get to laugh at you. And we can get hot chocolate afterwards.”
“Yes!” Diamond pumped her fist in the air and turned red. “I mean, sounds good.”
“You’re funny when you get excited. You and Scootaloo would get along really well. She’s just the same way,” Sunset chuckled.
“Maybe one day,” Diamond sighed. “I’ll get my coat on and we can go if you want to still.” Sunset gave her a nod.
“I’m always down.”
“Wow we are really high up,” Diamond Tiara gulped nervously. She and Sunset stood on top of the cliff of the ski resort.
“We are,” Sunset gave her a concerned look. “Wanna go back?”
“Nah,” Diamond shook her head. “What do I do?” An employee stepped behind her wearing a hat.
“Push yourself forward with the sticks and you’ll be fine. I put you two on the beginner course,” Double Diamond explained.
“Okay,” Diamond Tiara nodded nervously. “Push me Sunset.”
“I’m sorry what?” Sunset asked in confusion.
“Push me please SUNSEEETTTT!” Diamond screamed as Sunset pushed her forward gently and her scream got quieter in the distance.
“Is she going to be okay?” Double Diamond asked nervously.
“I’m about to find out,” Sunset shrugged and pushed herself forward down the hill. She gave a grin as the wind whistled past her and before she knew it she was halfway down before she fell and rolled down the hill. Sighing, she poked her head out of the snow pile she was in next to a panting Diamond Tiara.
“That was AWESOME!” Diamond cheered with a massive grin. “How was the fall?”
“C-cold,” Sunset stammered as she stood up and shook off the snow. “But fun.”
“Can we go again? Please?” Diamond begged hopefully. Sunset sighed and smiled.
“Yeah let’s go back up.”
