"So how was guarding the Canterlot wedding like?" I ask my friend Spellsword. He was a long time friend, signed up for bootcamp with me. We both didn't make Royal Guard. However, he was pretty close, combined with the fact he was at Canterlot at the time, and he was with the Royal Guards, the best of the best, protecting The Royal Canterlot Wedding.
"It was interesting, none of the royal guard ponies talked during work, how they don't die from boredom I will never know." he said levitating an apple up to him, taking a bite. "So, I'm at Canterlot right? At one moment there is a wedding, then the next moment, the element of magic bursts in the room, you know what happens right?"
"Yeah, she comes in with the real Princess Candence, and then all hell brakes loose." I say, it was all over the papers, too bad we got our news a week or two later than everypony else. Being at the edge of Equestria sucks sometimes.
"Yeah then these bug things called changelings start rushing into the room, you should've saw the Royal Guards man, they got into formation and just plowed through the changelings, I myself took at least a dozen before shit hit the fan." He took another bite of his apple, "It seemed like It would be a piece of cake, the changelings wearing no armor and using no weapons at all, however we started falling, one by one, quanity has it's own special type of quality, our guys started getting tierd, whenever one of us showed any weakness, he would be rushed to death. I was knocked out cold, then you know the rest from the newspaper. I hope one of them saw me fighting and put a good word out for me."
"You really want to be a Royal Guard still."
"Yep, I'm telling you man, one day they are going to see me in battle, and they are going to go, 'Wow! Look at that guy, we should get him into the Royal Guard!'"
"I'm not too sure, remember there is almost no fighting ever, and when something does happen, the Royal Guards come to clean it up before we barley get into the fray."
"Yeah I know bu-" he started looking at something off into the distance, he almost fell off our watchtower as he threw a flare spell into the air. Off into the distance were changelings, hundreds of them if not thousands. As they saw the flare, they broke out of their walk and started flying to our outpost. Spellsword lit the signal torch and shouted on the top of his lungs, "OH SHIT! MOTHA FUCKIN' CHANGELINGS!"
We took our weapons as the other soldiers prepared for battle, stumbling around, this was the first time we ever been attacked for real. Unicorns and Earth Ponies took up weaponry as Pegesai took to the skies. As I shot an arrow into the distance I noticed a huge rock coming towards our watch tower. I grabbed Spell and pushed him off the tower, before jumping off myself. As I fell to the ground, I heard the tower collapse, falling towards Spell and I.
Crash!
My vision blurred in and out as I regained conscience. Spell is next to me, dead! Wait no breathing, unconscience, but alive, thank you Celestia!
I looked up to buzzing, hundreds of changelings swarmed above us, for every soldier we had, there was three changelings. The pegesai tried to minimize the numbers before they got to our base, however there was too much. Fuck that! I grabbed Spell and started dragging him. It was horrible, maybe the royal guard would've fought this off, but there was just too much, whenever a pony would turn to protect another, he would be taken down. When a Pegasus took a turn, he would be out of the skies in seconds, when a Unicorn charged up a spell, he'd be dead before it fired off. I dragged us into the building where we keep captives, or at least where we would, if there was ever war until now that is. I placed him next to a table and went out again.

A couple of years ago.
"Why are you enlisting into the army?" My mom, asked me. I share her greenish blue color as my coat, and have my Dad's orange hair. "You can make a good life here, at home, safe.''
"Look, there hasn't been a war since centuries, I'm just gonna make some extra money in case we have a bad crop year. I look at my siblings, who starved last winter. "I'm not letting y'all starve again".
"Let the boy go dear," My father said, "he's right, they ain't been no war for centuries, and there ain't gonna be a war now, he's going to be a man soon, and we should let him make his own decisions."

"Hey kid wake up." I heard the voice of an older stallion say as I was slapped lightly in the face. I sprang up and noticed I was surrounded by a couple ponies. The stallion who woke me up had two swords as a cutie mark and was a earth pony.
"Wha, what happened?" Memories from last night returned to me, "Aww shit, shit shit shit, nononono, this ain't happening! Nope, please no!" I started freaking out. This can't be happening, why couldn't war wait for the next century, why? The stallion gave me a smack to the face.
"Get a hold of yourself." He said with a stern voice. He looked to his right, where SpellSword is, "Looks like your friend is up." Indeed Sword was conscience again, getting some help from a white mare that was around my age. Spellsword shook his head a little before looking at the me, then at the other ponies. The stallion that woke me up stood in front of all of us and cleared his throat. "Well, this is all we have left." He said, with a tone of sadness in his voice.
"All? What do you mean all?" Spellsword said a little confused. The stallion walked to the door and kicked it open, outside was nightmare fuel. Ponies and changelings were littered on the ground. Blood was everywhere, You wouldn't be able to see a patch on the ground without blood on it.
"Again, this is all we have left." The stallion said with a sigh. We left the prisoner's building one by one, taking it all in. The mare that helped Spellsword started tearing up.
"Damn, why are you crying?" I looked at the others, no one else talked. "You guys wanna help me?" I looked at the place where the voice came from. I saw a yellow pegesai with white hair on the ground.
The white pony that helped Spell rushed to the pegasus's aid. "Oh my gosh, do you need help?" She said quickly, looking at the spear that impaled his left wing.
"Bitch." He said with a dead-pan expression, "Does it look like I need help?"
"You didn't have to be so mean." She said, shying away. She backed off a little and stared at the spear.
"Can someone fucking help me!" He shouted, with a little anger in his voice, "This kinda fucking hurts!" The stallion grabbed the spear in his mouth and pulled it out of his wing. "ARGH mother fucker!" The yellow colt shouted in pain.
The stallion spat out the spear, "Name's Uncle Lucky, and you asked for help." The white mare levitated some bandages out of her saddlepack and wrapped it around the yellow colt's wing. "Okay, almost all of the supplies around here is either destroyed or looted, I brought two swords last night, five of us, do the math." Uncle Lucky said sheathing a sword, leaving one to the four of us.
"I'll take it." SpellSword levitated the sword putting it into it's sheath. I had no objections, however the pegasus had other ideas.
"Hold up now, why the fuck do you get the sword?" He said, getting into Spell's face.
"You're injured. You won't be able to fight efficiently. Paragraph seven of page ninety-three, injured soldiers should be last to enter a fight as his or her weakness may cost the life of the pony next to him or her." He said smiling, He was about to argue some more but Uncle Lucky poked him in the wing. After cringing a little, he backed down.
"Well my name is Green!" I said smiling, trying to raise the mood.
The Pegasus sighed, "My name is Lightning, future wonderbolt." He said showing off his cutiemark of a lightning bolt.
"Spellsword." My friend said, making the sword he had glow a little, "Future royal guard."
"Hope you didn't forget my name already." Uncle Lucky said grinning.
"My name is Bandages." The white mare spoke softly, I barely heard her. After an awkward moment I spoke up.
"So, what's the plan?" I asked kicking the ground. We don't have any supplies or back up, I hope we at least got a plan.
"We need to get word back to Canterlot about this. If they get hit by a surprise attack, it'll be a disaster." He took out his sword and started drawing a map on the ground, "Now the changelings used an old tactic, striking fast and hard, taking down the pegesai first so they can't warn other outposts. We were lucky that they didn't find us." He drew a triangle and wrote Canterlot, "Now they'll try and steamroll outpost after outpost," He drew a line that went through small squares. "However, considering the size of the army, they'll be slow, and they'll have to take the long way to Canterlot. We'll be trailing a little behind however if we take a shortcut through the everfree forest, we can get there a day faster than them." He drew a thin line that cut through a circle that said Everfree Forest.
"But, it's such a long way from home!" I whined
"Well you don't have to if you don't want to." Uncle Lucky said, "I have a reason to go, if you don't, I'm not forcing you." The old stallion started walking off.
"Yo, wait up bro!" Lightning said catching up to him, "This is the time for me to show the Wonderbolts how awesome I am!"
I thought for a second. My family... "Spell?" He shook his head and we followed the two. Bandages followed behind us.
"This is how I get into the Royal Guard green!" Spell said, "I knew one day my time to come! Since I was a kid I knew that some day, something big in my life will happen! The reality of this epic quest shall make this... the best adventure ever!" He winked.
This is always fun. I thought, "On this adventure!" I sang.
"I am here on this adventure, for I love the royal guard!
But the one thing it was missing was a pony named Spellsword,
For I am the best at fighting, all my comrades will agree,
Ponies fighting, ponies traveling, with me on this adventure!"
"On this adventure, in the travels,
I'm going to become tough and strong,
all my vices, I'll overcome them on this adventure! (On this adventure)
All this fighting, and the monsters,
I'll finally grow a backbone, and become big and strong,
Right here on this adventure!" Bandages singing, she's a great singer, such a nice sing-
"Been dreamin', been waiting,
To fly with those great ponies.
The Wonderbolts, their daring tricks,
spinning 'round and having kicks,
I'll get through this adventure,
They'll see me in daring ponyfights,
The Wonderbolts will be amazed, on this adventure!" Lightning sang, goddesses, these ponies are really good at singing.
"On this adventure (it'll be amazing!), I will redeem (myself!)
For my horrible leadership (shameful shameful)
Dead soldiers (they're pushing roses), they'll be avenged (enemies look out!)
And I'll redeem myself, and the Lucky family!" Even the old guy had a singer's voice, what the hell? Okay, my turn.
"On this adventure (on this adventure), with my comrades,
is where I'm going to be (hopefully)" Screw you guys, I won't run this time!
"I'll be back with my family, we will talk about our lives,
It's going to be so special, just my family, friends, and me!" My singing voice could use some work, but at least I didn't ruin the song like last time, yay!

[Well this was the first song, which was based on "At the Gala" (which to be honest, I shouldn't have to tell any of you). How did I do? The song and the story, feedback on both would be really nice, even if your mean (although Id like if you would be gentle with your review, I still need to work on my story making).]
