The retired sisters sit anxiously, awaiting to get an audience with the monarch they left in charge. The doors open and a griffin guard and Kirin guard bow.
“Princess Twilight awaits you. Welcome back your excellencies.” The griffin guard says. They nod their heads and smile. Celestia and Luna then proceed to walk into their former throne room that was now occupied by Princess Twilight Sparkle, Fluttershy, Discord, and Spike. Both sisters gawked at how much the throne room had been added onto.
Stained glass of when Twilight became the sole monarch of Equestria. Flurry heart becoming princess of light. Memorials of rarity, pinkie pie, rainbow dash, applejack, starlight glimmer, Trixie Lulamoon, Fizzlepop Berrytwist and her heroine sacrifice by saving the six. Sunset Shimmer and the human six had a memorial. The pillars of Equestria each had a window made in their memory. The young six had one in their memory. And other much much older stained glass pieces still remained intact even after all these eons. two such pieces were the defeat of Nightmare Moon, and the moment Shining Armor and Cadance became wedded in holy matrimony. And more stained glass with different treaties Twilight had made in their absence. Two of those windows had not changed; Ember and Thorax still ruled their lands. A new yak prince had taken over quite some time ago. Princess Skystar had taken her moms—queen novo’s—place. The griffins now had a king and queen. Everything had either changed majorly, or minorly. Much to the sisters delight however, Equestria remained just how they left it; peaceful.
“Celestia! Luna! Please come in!” Twilight beamed. She even got down from her throne and hugged the sisters. The sisters embraced her as well, and together formed an Alicorn group hug.
“It is so wonderful to see you again, princess Twilight. Me and Luna have missed you.”
“I’ve missed you all as well. Please, come in and make your selves at home. I’ll have some ponies bring us some water.” The retired princesses nod, and Twilights calls for the servants. A lilac-violet pony with a mint colored mane came to twilight. Twilight sweetly asked that mare for water for her, Fluttershy, discord, spike, Luna And Celestia. With a bow she did what was asked of her with a smile.
“Hello Celestia. Hello Luna. It’s so wonderful to see you both again.” Fluttershy said wrapping both of them in a wing hug. The sisters hugged back, and this time Luna spoke. “We are happy to see you as well, dear Fluttershy. And you as well Discord and Spike.” Both males responded with a smile and a bow.
“I’m sorry I never had the chance to come visit either of you in silver shoals. Maintaining peace in Equestria drained my time like water in a bathtub, and I just never could get around to it.”
“It is alright, Twilight. Believe me, we understand completely how hard it is to get away from the throne for even a second.” Celestia said. This got giggles out of all three mares.
“My my Fluttershy. You’re as beautiful as ever.” Celestia complimented.
“Oh, thank you.” Was all Fluttershy said with a slight blush. Discord then came to her sided and nuzzled her. This physical contact got Fluttershys attention, and she looked toward him. She giggles and gets a passionate kiss from Discord on her lips. It’s a quick kiss, but it’s enough to tell the sisters and everyone else in the room, the two were still happily married, after all these eons. This brought smiles to Luna Celestia and Twilight at the fact Discord wooed Fluttershy and together became one. Gifting the Pegasus the gift to live forever beside Discord with her youth.
Spike had only changed in height slightly. He wore a necklace with Twilights insignia. Indicating he was still her royal assistant.
To their delight almost everything is as it was when they retired…almost.
“We have come to discuss something with you princess twilight.”
“Oh! Yes! I read your letter, and let me tell you, I was and still am very excited for this meeting. If I read it correctly, you and Luna are considering coming out of retirement and resuming your positions as diarchs to the throne. I can’t even begin to tell you how excited I was to receive your letter and the news it brought with it. Please come sit with me and everypony else, we have much to discuss.” Twilight said with big smiles. She lead the way and everypony followed.
The same mare with the lilac-violet coat and mint mane came and served everypony their waters. The servant bowed and Twilight thanked her by saying her name: Twinkle Shines. Twilight then turned her attention back to Celestia and Luna and smiled. “What made you want to come out of retirement? Did something happen?”
“No, princess. I took the time to fully understand pony culture around me. I’m happy to report I have done just that during our retirement.” Luna said.
“For me, it was a moment to get away from the throne and take big deep breathes. I’m well rested now, and am ready to retake the burden we passed on to you. That is if you will let me and my sister return to the throne.” Celestia said.
“Of course I will. Does this mean I’ll go back to being the Princess of Friendship?” Celestia and Luna nodded, which made Twilight smile so big, Celestias sun reflected off it. She calmed down and spoke once more. “We’ll have to let the surrounding kingdoms know I am stepping down and returing control to the two of you. And I know for a Fact, Shining Armor, Cadance and Flurry Heart will be thrilled to see you return to your thrones once more.” Celestia and Luna both beamed at the thought of their niece, grand niece, and nephew in law getting to see them step up once again after eons of retirement. To them this felt like a huge family reunion. Eons of relaxing, only to come back and see Twilight not only did an amazing job of ruling, but one of the original elements of harmony still breathing. Discord happier than a June bug in June. Spike continues to serve faithfully under his friend and parent figure—as well as big sibling figure. And their adopted niece, along with her spouse and child, were still well.
Never before had Celestia felt so proud of Twilight in all the eons she had known her. Even with all the responsibilities, she still stood strong, and happy.
As the future days went by, Twilight resumed the friendship throne she had left so many lifetimes ago. Celestia and Luna returned to their thrones, and resumed their rule, following the laws and guidelines Twilight had made during their retirement. Equestria remained strong in its Allie’s, and remained as peaceful as it was when Twilight was given the throne. And as the days move forward, Celestia and Luna could not be more proud of their successor and friend for all the wonderful work she had done.

Just a small major idea I came up with. Tbh I don’t think much would change in the future. Sure most of the mane six would move on to the afterlife. But I think Fluttercord would have become canon at some point, and with all major threats either killed or intensely under the most severe maximum solitary detainement, Equestria would still remain as friendly and peaceful as ever. What do you guys think?
