"Buck you!"
"Watch your mouth young filly! You are not above grounding!"
The blueish green filly looked at me with a smug look. "Read my lips! Buck You!"
I pointed a hoof farther into the castle. "Room! Now!"
She groaned and stomped off down the hallway. As she left, Another dark blue mare walked up to me from my left side.
"What was that all about?" Luna asked. I breathed a sigh of relief. I had managed to live through another argument.
I shake my head and look over to Luna. "Shining Star wants to drop out of school. I told her that she couldn't and she freaked out."
Luna's face contorted in confusion. "Why in Tartarus would she want to drop out of school?"
"I don't even know," I said shaking my head. "She never told me. She just started throwing things."
"She threw things at you!"
I held up a hoof to calm Luna down. "Relax. She has terrible aim."
Luna shook her head. "Still! It's unacceptable! I'm going to talk to her. Can you take over in the throne room for me?"
I nod and Luna begins to walk down the hallway. I began walking slowly towards the throne room. I was preparing my mind to work through the stupid arguments of the ponies of Canterlot. It wasn't like I hated my subjects, but they could be very tiring.
The past 150 moons had not been easy. Shining Star was 150 now! And she had been trouble ever since she was born. Twilight had agreed to tutor her in her magic abilities and they began when she was 60. I had argued that it was too early but Luna talked me out of it. Spoiler alert, I was right.
Ever since she learned how to use magic, Shining had become even harder to control. No matter what I tried, she wouldn't stop using her magic around the house. It's not like I wanted to stop her from practicing, but it gets very tiring when she refuses to walk anywhere and instead decides to teleport. I swear, I can't walk five feet in this castle without her popping in front of me.
She always disrespected her teachers as well. She threw chalk when she was younger and the objects had only gotten bigger as her levitation powers got stronger. The teachers had never complained. I think they were afraid that I would be angry. Was I really that scary? The truth is, I was mad. But it wasn't at them.
I could never help but look back to the days when Shining was born. It's not like I didn't love her. I loved her with all of my heart. But she was incredibly tiring sometimes.
I sat down on my throne and began listening to different stories and arguments and questions from my different subjects. Rarity wanted some opinions on some different fabrics. Button Mash was wondering if he was allowed to sue a video game company for making a horrible baseball game. Pinkie Pie wanted to throw the grand galloping gala this year.
That last one took me by shock. When Pinkie Pie had come into the castle, she wasn't her usual bouncy self. Usually, she would be bouncing through the room and then somehow appear behind me and start marveling at how beautiful my throne was. She did have a point. My throne was made from solid emeralds.
This time however, she walked in like any normal pony. She walked up and bowed. I frowned at her. "Pinkie, you don't have to do that. We're friends." She sighed and looked up. I frowned more. "What's wrong?"
"I have a question. But I don't know how you'll take it."
I laugh and smile. "Oh come on Pinkie! Just ask!"
"May I throw a party here?"
I look off to the side. "I don't see why not. You usually don't break anything and you're always perfect with the cleanup. But you usually throw parties wherever you want. Why ask this time?"
"Can I throw a Grand Galloping Gala?"
There it was. That question took me a second to answer. "I-I-I don't know Pinkie."
I feel like some explanation is in order. Ever since Celestia had killed herself, we had never held a Grand Galloping Gala. Of course, most ponies didn't mind. Twilight and her friends had taken her death especially hard. And throwing this party was just a reminder of what Celestia had always done.
Most ponies didn't know the true nature of Celestia's demise. Only Luna, Twilight, and of course myself. Not even Shining knew. I intended to keep it that way.
"Let me talk to Luna. I'll think about it."
Pinkie walked out silently. I couldn't help but wonder why she suddenly wanted to throw the party again. I wondered if she had even consulted with her friends at all. I wondered what they all thought about this.
I wondered especially, how Luna would feel.

(That night...)
We ate in silence. Luna and I sat next to each other on one side of the table while Shining sat on the other side. Something told me that Luna and Shining's talk hadn't gone very well either.
Luna eventually decided to break the silence. "So Shining, how was your day?"
Shining looked up at Luna and scowled. She looked back down at her food and continued eating it.
I slammed an angry hoof down on the table. "Shining Star! Your mother is talking to you."
Shining put her hooves up in the air sarcastically. "Jeez! My day was horrible thanks for asking."
I scowled at her. "Watch your attitude."
She threw her hooves up and sighed heavily. "I swear! I'm going to bucking kill myself!"
Luna gasped and I stood from my chair. I pointed a hoof at her angrily. "Don't you ever say that again! We do not talk about that in this household!"
Shining rolled her eyes. "No need to be such a bitch about it."
I sparked my horn and engulfed Shining and myself in a green aura. We popped away from the table and appeared in her room. "Listen close young filly!" I yelled angrily. "We are going to have a long talk! Because frankly, this newfound attitude of yours is no longer going to be tolerated in this house."
Shining rolled her eyes again and flopped down on her bed.
"Oh joy!"
