Three years had passed since Keiji and Aidon had come to know and appreciate their new friends. The Sirens had found their place here and were able to graduate from Canterlot High alongside Sunset Shimmer and her friends after their final year of high school together. Here is a brief overview as to what they got up to since they left high school:

Sci-Twi, or this world’s Twilight Sparkle had graduated and was currently attending a rather prestigious college program in order to work to become a physicist.

Rarity went off to attend a fashion art university and worked towards opening several stores under her own name.

Fluttershy had decided to remain home and take online college courses while working at the vet to earn an animal science degree.

Pinkie Pie went off to culinary school where she’d earn enough credits to eventually open her own restaurant and bakery in the city.

Rainbow Dash had decided not to bother with college and instead focused on training her body as an extreme sports entertainer with a heavy social media following with everything from biking to snowboarding sponsorships.

Applejack had also chosen not to bother with college since Big Mac had gone off to live with Sugar Belle after the two got married, she chose to stay and focus on the Apple Family Farm.

Sunset Shimmer had ultimately decided to pursue a career in one of her favorite pastimes; art. Specifically comic book art, so she went off to art school to hone her techniques as she looked for a publisher to get her work out there.

Adagio Dazzle (and her sisters for that matter) simply couldn’t afford college. So instead, they focused on furthering their dreams in smaller ways. The orange-haired siren had taken a job as a singer at a jazz club in Canterlot City where she’d make most of her money in an honest-to-good way.

Aria Blaze had decided to join a fight club circuit where she could put her skills and let out her temper in a productive way via regulated martial arts tournaments held by the local gym.

Sonata Dusk had opted to be the say-at-home sister for her two sisters. Whenever they were finished with work, she’d have dinner prepared for them for when they got back and kept the house in order as she took online college courses for writing in her spare time.

Others such as the Crusaders, Diamond Tiara, Silver Spoon, and everyone else in their age group would be entering their first year of college at the ripe and ready age of 20 years old while also looking to figure out what they wanted to do with the rest of their lives in the process.

But along the way…that didn’t stop this world from suffering.

More monsters and criminals with magical powers started to arise and appear due to the overwhelming presence of Equestrian magic and the effects its corruption had on the population. In the last year alone, there were at least 1000 reported incidents of monsters, magical beings, or humans abusing magic for criminal activity. Property damage racked upwards of millions of dollars, and there were at least 500 deaths and 10000 injuries as a result of these incidents across the Nation of Mapleland where Canterlot City was located. It got so bad, that the crime rate had surpassed the massive United States of Vinland that existed just South of Mapleland.

The Equestria Girls and their friends did their best to quell these incidents, but they couldn’t be everywhere at once. Wherever there was magic ready to be exploited, crime was present. The media had pressured the Maplelandian government, pressing them further and further on what to do, and the Royal Family in charge simply couldn’t withstand the pressure from the public. With so many lives lost and negative media attention from other nations, Mapleland had lost a lot of its monetary gain from its tourism and sports industry sectors. Even the Equestria Girls weren’t capable of handling all the threats to the nation, so the government’s hands were tied. The needs of the many outweighed the needs of the few.

The Prime Minister of Mapleland issued a press conference and a statement that declared all magic use illegal and punishable by law. Anyone that used magic in the nation from as far as Canterlot City, to Horseshoe Falls, to the capital city of Vanhoover would automatically be tried and punished to the fullest extent of the law. While no one blamed Sunset Shimmer specifically, there was a sudden shift in how she and her friends were treated if they were caught using their magic in public. Rumors and murmurs started to arise of them being criminals as well.

The general public turned their back on magic users. While those living in Canterlot City knew that Sunset and her friends were innocent, the general population of other cities weren’t so quick to treat her and her friends fairly, declaring them and other magical beings ‘mutants’ or ‘demons’ without trying to understand them.

Because of that, Sunset and her friends made a pact to lay low and keep themselves out of trouble. They made sure to use their magic as little as possible if they could avoid it and tried their best to stay out of the public eye and live out normal lives as young women moving through society. So long as they didn’t use their magic, no one would bat too much of an eye at them. But that also meant they couldn’t jump in and save the day like they used to due to fear of public outrage. At the same time though, it was a good opportunity for them to focus on their own lives for a change, and everything worked out…for the moment.

But how much longer would things stay like this? Would Sunset and her friends simply head into adulthood and never answer the call to action again? What about Aidon and Keiji? How would they get along with all of this happening?

There was only one way to find out…
