Episode XX: Role Model

Previous ChapterNext Chapter

Across Vanhoover, at a modelling venue in the middle of the city…

Rarity was getting a series of supplies ready to show off her new fashion line with the aid of Sunset Shimmer. The latter was stacking boxes that the former needed for her line of summer clothes.

“I keep forgetting how important clothes are here,” Sunset mused aloud as she placed a box down.

“Hm? Oh that’s right,” Rarity replied as she filed one of her nails from a nearby stool she sat upon. “All this time we’ve been together I sometimes forget you’re from Equestria. Clothes aren’t really worn all the time there like they are here, hm?”

“Nope,” Sunset replied with a shrug, “Guess things are just different over there. Honestly it took me a bit of time to adjust when I got over here. I accidentally went outside without anything on once and…yeah,” she added with a nervous smile as she cringed at her embarrassing actions from the past.

Rarity could only manage a giggle in response as she imagined not only what Sunset looked like during that moment, but also the faces of whoever happened to be passing by on that day.

“Pfhfgt…I do hope you weren’t outside for very long,” she replied, “Lord knows that no one would be able to take their eyes off you, darling.”

“H-hey! Like I said, I come from a world where clothes are only used ceremonially,” Sunset insisted, then thought about the pony counterpart to Rarity. “In fact, your equine self mostly focuses on ceremonial garb. Your job is more important by comparison.”

“Yes, because unlike dainty small horses, we humans have to wear clothes all of the time,” Rarity sighed, then put a smile on her face, “But at least it means I have more ways to express myself. Exhibit A!”

“Henh?” Sunset tilted her head as she watched Rarity get up from her seat and scramble to a nearby box.

Rarity retrieved a set of rather skimpy two-piece swimsuits. “Bet you they don’t make ‘em like this in Equestria, Sunset!” she declared with a proud smirk on her face.

“Well no because our anatomy is totally different,” Sunset replied with a chuckle. “Well, if that’s all you need more for, then I better get going. Twilight told me about that animal curse and I don’t wanna be around to catch it.”

“But--darling, please--you won’t catch a curse just by modeling for me,” Rarity pleaded as she raised the pitch of her voice.

“...now I see why you called me up here,” Sunset rolled her eyes. “You wanna try and get me in your modeling gig because you’re low on options, huh?”

Rarity was suddenly within Sunset’s personal space without warning, causing the latter to flinch as she made her case. “Well, yes--the rest of our friends are currently afflicted by the curse and I don’t have anyone else to help me right now so--”

“Alright, alright,” Sunset sighed and shook her head, “Lucky for you I’m currently looking for inspiration for one of my next comic designs so this just might help me out.”

“Ah! So you’ll do it?!” Rarity squealed as she dangled the swimsuits in front of Sunset.

“Yeah yeah, no problem,” Sunset rolled her eyes with a small smile on her face. “I don’t think I’ve got any reason to regret this so…”

The venue’s participants would slowly start to flood in. Rarity’s models, Sunset included, would line up with their summer outfits on in preparation to show them off to the investors--some of which included Prim Hemline and Hoity Toity.

“Perfect,” Rarity muttered as she peered out to the crowd, “If I get enough investments, my summer line is going to sell like hotcakes, darling. Hot. Cakes.”

“Mmhmm…” Sunset stretched her hands upwards as she arched her back forwards, allowing her chest to sway about in the confines of the bikini top. It was a basic two-piece comprised of red and white stripes. “...Yeah this actually fits surprisingly well for how skimpy it is.”

“Exactly. I’m appealing to both the women who want to show off, and the men who need a bit of…” Rarity rolled her hand as she tried to come up with the best terminology. “...encouragement to approach a lady on the beach.”

“Urgh…really?” Sunset glanced down at her butt and adjusted the swimsuit. “...it rides up a little, but it works. Honestly wish we could wear stuff like this more often all things considered.”

“Now you’re getting it, darling,” Rarity gave Sunset a thumbs-up, then pulled out her phone. “Going to see how far I can push this on livestream.”

Meanwhile…

As the event got started, Aidon and Luna had arrived on the scene with their animalistic abilities at the ready.

“A modelling gig, hm?” Aidon mused as he drove his car up to the rear end of the reception hall. “I suppose that might be our honeytrap?”

“But catching flies?” Luna thought about the other half of the Masked Menace’s riddle. “I’m not quite sure what that means.”

Aidon growled under his breath as he approached the door. “...all I can say is that I hope our guess is correct.”
