Spitfire wasn't going to stand for it anymore. For the seven years that she had been the captain of the Wonderbolts, she had been paid less the others and the boss almost never listened to her. So when she brought up the idea of recruiting Rainbow Dash to her extremely sexist boss, it shouldn't have come as a surprise to her when he started lecturing her on how they couldn't have to many mares on the team and how it was still a mystery to him how her and Surprise got on the team in the first place. That's when she did it. She knew that Rainbow Dash was a very talented mare. In fact, she had seen it first hand, as she was the only pegasus to do a Sonic Rainboom twice. If that didn't make you qualified then Spitfire didn't know what did, so Spitfire quit. She was done with the injustice that had been done to her so many times before. Now her only problem was where to go, seeing as she had never had any real home. The Wonderbolts had provided housing for her and she never really had a place of her own. "I know, maybe Soarin' has room for me," she said to no one in particular. And so on she went to Soarin's hotel room. When she got there, she knocked on the room door. "Be right there," a familiar voice called from inside. As the door opened, there was Soarin' without his Wonderbolts costume. "Oh, hey there Spitfire. What can I do you for?" he asked in his friendly and inviting tone. "Listen Soarin', there's something that I need to talk to you about. Can I come inside?" Spitfire asked, the desperation clear in her voice. "Well of course, come on in," he said, gesturing her to come inside. They walked into the kitchen and as Soarin' went over and grabbed two coffee mugs from the cabinet, Spitfire sat down at the table. "Soarin', I need to ask you a big favor. I just quit the Wonderbolts," Soarin' didn't seem surprised at all by the news. "And I need somewhere to stay until I find my own place." "Spitfire, listen, no matter how much I would like to let you stay with me, how would that work out? I mean, I'm constantly moving around and you would have to be moving with me. That can't work out" Just then, the severity of the situation hit Spitfire. She didn't have a job and she didn't have anyplace to stay; she was homeless. "Now Spitfire, before you panic, I can recommend some places for you to go but I don't know how things will work out for you there," Soarin' said, seeing the panic clear on her face. "Ok then, where should I go? I have no home and no money, Soarin'!" she asked, starting to panic a little now. "There having a position for a new weather pony over in Ponyville. Why don't you check it out over there. As for housing, I'm not sure but you might find an Inn or something over there. But that's about as much as I can do for you." After a few moments, Soarin' continued, "You know, he never thought you'd leave." "What do you mean?" "The boss. He never thought you would leave, It hurts him more than you think," Soarin' explained. "Yeah right," Spitfire said with a sigh. "Well thanks, Soarin'. I guess I'll see you around then," And with that final note, she flew out of the small hotel and headed towards Ponyville, where who knows what would be in store for her. Author's Note Hey there guys! It's me and this is the first chapter of "Living with Rainbow Dash! Omgomgomgomgomg, anywho, it will be a longer story than my first one and is set to be finished in a couple weeks! Thanks to Kiroberos, my proofreader, who doesn't like me thanking him like this but I do it anyways. Finding a roomieWhen Spitfire finally got to Ponyville, she landed right outside on the outskirts, trying not to be detected. But then, as she slowly walked into town, she realized that nopony recognized her without her Wonderbolts costume on anyway. Well, almost nopony. "Is that Spitfire?" a very fan-girlish squeal almost yelled. Spitfire immediately ducked her head to avoid detection. This wasn't the first time that this had happened. She then found the source of the voice and rushed over to shush her. Who else would it be but the rainbow maned pegasus herself, Rainbow Dash. "Hey would you keep it down!" Spitfire said, shushing her. "Ohmygoshohmygoshohmygosh, I am so sorry!" said Rainbow Dash, clearly apologizing. "Listen, it's ok, I'm kind of in a pickle here. Would you help me out if I treat you to lunch?" Rainbow Dash then froze, her mouth agape. 'I'm going to have lunch with a Wonderbolt!' Rainbow Dash thought. "O..oh yeah, of course," said Rainbow, suddenly snapping out of her trance. "Ok, good," said Spitfire, the relief showing on her face. As the two mares walked over to the cafe and found a table, Spitfire started her story. "So I guess I have a bit of explaining to do.... huh?" Spitfire said sarcastically "I guess you do. For one, why are you in Ponyville?" "Well... Let me start from the beginning... A couple days ago, I talked to my boss about recruiting you." "Mmme?" Rainbow asked, not being able to control her mind. "Well yes, I thought that you were a very talented mare." Spitfire said, a deadpan expression on her face. "O..o..ok, w...well..then please continue" Rainbow said, stumbling over her words. "Well anyways, he said no because he's a sexist jack-flank, and then I quit" Said Spitfire, very calmly. "Wait, you quit because your boss wouldn't hire me?" Rainbow interrupted. "Well yeah, that and he's been really sexist to me all these years. I'm just done with it, but long story short, I'm homeless and I came to Ponyville to look for a job as the new weathermare, and hopefully find a place to stay. You think you can help?" asked Spitfire. "Well... I mean.... you could stay with me..." said Rainbow Dash, with a voice almost mimicking that of Fluttershy's. "What was that?" Spitfire asked to the blushing Rainbow Dash. "Well, you could stay with me. I kind of live in a big house and don't have much company..." said a nervous Rainbow Dash, and said nervousness must have been evident on her face, because Spitfire responded with a comforting smile and... "I would love to Rainbow Dash. Well that's one problem solved." Spitfire said with a sigh. "So how would you like to come to me to the mayor's office?" asked Spitfire. "That would be so cool!" said Rainbow, adding, "Come on, I'll show you where it is." And the two of them set off to find the mayor's office and get Spitfire that job... Author's Note Wow, here it is! It's funny actually, I thought that I had posted this a couple days ago, But I hadn't! So here it is, both chapter one and two! Have fun my friends! Moving in"So you see, Mayor Mare, I really need this job so that way I can pay for the rent." Spitfire said, finally finishing her story. "Well. Miss. Spitfire, I..." the mayor began. "Please, just Spitfire," Spitfire interrupted. "Well, Spitfire, I have looked over your references and you've taken the test... So I'm happy to tell you... You've got the job!" "Oh, thank you sooo much, Mayor!" Spitfire said, her joy overcoming her. "Yes, well I expect to see you at work tomorrow!" The mayor chided. "Well of course, Mayor!" Spitfire almost ran out to the hall to greet the waiting Rainbow Dash. " I got the job!" She almost squealed. "That's so great!" Rainbow said. "Thank you, thank you, thank you! Rainbow Dash you're so brilliant I could kiss you!" Spitfire said, not noticing that last comment. "Umm, Yeah... Well do you want to go check out the house?" Rainbow offered. "Oh! Of course! I completely forgot!" said Spitfire, blushing. (Probs because she told Rainbow she could kiss her! But what do I know! I'm just the author! *shrugpony.jpg*) "Well then, let's get flying!" Rainbow said, stretching her wings. "But wait! Where's the house?" asked Spitfire. "Oh, just follow me!" "But..." "3,2,1, GO!" said Rainbow Dash as she took off, Leaving a very confused Spitfire surrounded by a cloud of dust. "It. Is. On!" Spitfire shouted, taking off from where she was. In a matter of moments, the ex-Wonderbolt had caught up with the junior speedster, and she whistled, causing Rainbow to look to her side. When she saw Spitfire, she simply gave a knowing smirk and then suddenly stopped. Spitfire whizzed on past her, trying to stop. When she finely did, she heard Rainbow call to her. "Hey! You passed the house!" Rainbow said, chuckling afterwards. Shaking her head, Spitfire flew back to the house where Rainbow was unlocking the door. As soon Rainbow Dash opened the door, Tank jumped out and landed on Rainbow. "Oof, Tank would you get off me!" Rainbow said, pushing Tank "Here Tank, meet out new guest! Spitfire!" Tank gave Spitfire a curious look, then looked back at Rainbow Dash who nodded at him, and then smiled at Spitfire. "Nice to meet you too, Tank!" Spitfire said. "Well now that you've met the 'other resident', would you like the grand tour?" Rainbow asked. "Sure! Where should we start?" "TO THE KITCHEN!" Rainbow yelled, taking off at full gallop. "So this is the kitchen," Rainbow said, gesturing with her hoof to the surrounding area upon arrival. "This is huge!" Spitfire said, eyes wide, taking in the large kitchen. "Yeah I guess it is, I don't really use it though," Rainbow said, shrugging it off. "What!? But it's so huge!" Spitfire said, her inner cook taking over. "Well you can use it. I just order takeout mostly," Rainbow said, continuing on with their tour, "Well come on then!" The two mares slowly walked through the rest of the house. They toured the bathroom, living room, office, and finally Spitfire's new bedroom. "Well, here it is, your new bedroom!" Rainbow said with fake enthusiasm. "Well I guess I better get unpacking, huh?" "Yeah, I'll just get out of your mane." "Hey wait, Rainbow!" "Yeah?" "Thanks for letting me stay here,. You're pretty cool," Spitfire said, with a genuine smile. "Yeah, no problem," Rainbow said, walking back to her own room. ~TIME LAPSE, OOOOH~ After both mares decided to retire for the night, they lay awake in their respective beds, both wondering what they did wrong that day, and both wishing they could be in the comfort of the other. Author's Note Ohhhhh sexual tension! But seriously guys, thank you all soooo much! I never thought that I could get this many views on my stories and yet even with my editor away on a break of some sort (That's what I'm guessing.) you still read my story. Anyway, this was my attempt at writing something a little longer and I hope to hear some more feed back! -Dropbeat Breakfast with RainbowsAlone on her cloud bed, Rainbow awoke to the smell of fresh eggs. Ignoring her growling stomach for the moment, she picked the heavier blanket she used and curled it around herself in an attempt to go back to sleep. When that too failed, she surrendered herself to the morning and got up to go investigate where that smell was coming from. When she finally got down the stairs, she was surprised to see Spitfire standing on her two back hooves at the stove, preparing eggs and singing along with the radio while swinging her hips. Just the sight of it made Rainbow Dash both blush and giggle. When Spitfire turned around and saw a blushing Rainbow Dash standing behind her, she immediately grew a blush of her own and stepped down onto all four of her hooves. "How long were you standing there?" Spitfire questioned, worrying about the answer. "Long enough," Rainbow replied with a smirk. Spitfire blushed. "You've got some good moves...... but not as good as mine," Rainbow said, again making Spitfire blush even harder. "Well...... now that we've said good morning, how 'bout some eggs?" Spitfire stuttered a bit on the first part, just trying to change the subject. "Sounds great!" Rainbow quickly trotted over to the table. "I thought I would make use of this GIANT kitchen you had and make my host some breakfast," Spitfire explained as they both ate. Very little passed between the two for they were eating and had nothing to say. When Rainbow was done she stood up. "Well, I could get use to this every morning!" Rainbow said, getting up from the table. "Don't," Spitfire simply stated, her face a completely deadpan expression. Rainbow elected a very sheepish looking grin of her face. "Well are we gonna go to work or what?" Rainbow asked. "Sure! As long as you show me the way," Spitfire replied, already heading for the door. When the two mares were ready, they headed out the door and jumped off the front porch, speeding towards their destination with lightning fast speed. Both wanted to be there first but a certain rainbow maned pegasus was the first to reach it. They both immediately got in line in front of the chief, ready to be given their assignments. Spitfire was the first to be addressed. "And you, ma'm, are?" asked a large, grey pegasus with a compass for a cutie mark. "I'm Spitfire. It's my first day" Spitfire said, her eyes meeting his. An awkward silence passed between them as they sized each other up. "Glad to have you a'bored," he said with a chuckle, shaking her hoof with his own. He then continued down the line to Rainbow Dash. "Rainbow Dash! You're not late today!" He adopted a look of surprise on his face. Rainbow smiled coyly at him and said, "I know! Luckily I had this mare over here to help me!" Rainbow said, adopting a look of shock as much as his. "Well if this means you'll being on time every morning, then good luck!" he said, moving on to the others. Spitfire turned to Rainbow Dash. "Is he really that mean?" she asked, the surprise showing on her face. "What! Oh no no no no, he's not being serious. He really a nice guy!" Rainbow said, trying to convince her. "Ok, I'll take your word for it..... but I've got my eye on him," Spitfire said as Rainbow sighed. She wasn't going to convince her that easily. The rest of their shift was spent teaching Spitfire how to buck clouds. It resulted in many a failed attempt, one with her falling to the ground and another kicking Rainbow in the face. But eventually, her already toned muscle allowed her to buck the clouds hard enough that they dissipated. By the end of their shift, Spitfire was bucking clouds like a pro. "Well, well, well, looks like you're finally getting the hang of things," Rainbow Dash said, flying over to her. "Yeah, well it wouldn't have been without your help," Spitfire grunted, kicking another cloud. "I know a way you can make it up to me," Rainbow Dash said with a smirk. "W..w..what..wo-would that be?" Spitfire asked, a blush growing on her face. "How 'bout some hot..... steamy...... ice cream!" Rainbow said the last part by hopping off the cloud and flying back up. When she came back up Spitfire was blushing and breathing rapidly. She shook her head to clear her vision and said, "We-Well sure, let's go get some ice cream," Spitfire said, a little confused. "YES!" Rainbow did a backflip and held her hooves up in the air, then started flying around doing tricks. "Let's go already! Were losing day light. Unless you don't want ice cream?" Spitfire said with a knowing smile. "What!?! No, I'm coming! let's go!" Rainbow said, quickly snapping out of it. They both hopped off the cloud and took flight. "To Sugar Cube Corner!" Rainbow yelled to Spitfire, who nodded and followed her. They flew over the town and as Spitfire looked down, she was amazed at the view. Everything looked like ants and hills, ponies just going about their business. She was so entranced in the view that she almost didn't catch Rainbow Dash call to her that the shop was right below them. Spitfire responded with a quick nod and flew down with her. Rainbow was the first to land and walk in the door, with Spitfire tailing after her. "Ah, Rainbow Dash!" Mrs. Cake greeted her, "How are we doing this evening?" "Hi Mrs. Cake! I taught Spitfire here how to buck clouds, so she said she would buy me ice cream!" Rainbow Dash squealed "I assume you want your regular vanilla cone with rainbow jimmies?" Mrs. Cake asked, handing over said cone. "Yes please!" Rainbow said taking the cone in her hooves and licking it. "Anything for you dear?" Mrs. Cake asked Spitfire, who was watching with awe as Rainbow Dash devoured the cone in 10 seconds flat. "Um.... n-no I'm good that'll be it." Spitfire said handing over the bits. "Ok, well then you two have a good night!" Mrs. Cake said goodbye. "You too Mrs. Cake!" Rainbow Dash replied as the two mares walked out the front door and took off towards home. Author's Note Hey guys! First update in a while and it's 1,000 words! But I wanted to go over some things. 1. Copyright issue: I was having an issue with a copyright on the name "Dropbeat," and I lost. :( But it's fine, whatever. Some asshole on Tumblr says it's his and I don't have any proof that he didn't. Plus, I didn't copyright the name. (Why would I?) 2. Update Schedule: I haven't updated in a while, but it's because I'm trying to work out my schedule with school. However, expect updates on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday! We have a lot of lost ground to make up. Till then, -Theengineerbrony. History Unveiled"Hey Rainbow I'm home!" Spitfire said, remembering the last three months she had been living with the mare. She had learned quite a few things. Rainbow had finally started eating things other then take out, and Spitfire had learned to make sure they always had Ice cream in the house. It had been a productive three months to say the least, their friendship had grown and they had become closer then ever. Soarin' had even come to vist once our twice if only for dinner. But now it seemed that the mare was no where to be seen. She called out again, "Rainbow Dash, you here?" Still nothing. Spitfire carefully made her way through the hall checking the kitchen, but when she peered around the corner there was nopony there. She then proceeded to make her way through the rest of the house. Checking every room until she came to the stairs. She and Rainbow Dash had been living across from each other the entire three months, it only made sense because there were only two bed rooms(you gunna' argue with that?). As she walked up the stairs and approached the other mares room she heard soft sobbing, Spitfire walked up to the door and opened it softly and slowly. "Rainbow, you in here?" Spitfire whispered into the room. "S-s-spitfire? O-o-oh h-he-hey." Rainbow Dash got out in between sobs. "Rainbow are you ok?" Spitfire said, walking into the room and getting on the bed to place a wing around Dash. Never before had she seen the mare so distraught. Rainbow only replied with more sobs, she couldn't even manage to get any words out. Spitfire knew that she wasn't going to get any words out of the mare any time soon. So she sat there with her wing around Dash's body making gentle shushing sounds, just trying to calm the mare. And eventually it worked well enough, she got Rainbow to calm down so she could ask her, "Rainbow Dash whats wrong?" "I guess I have some explaining to do..... huh" Rainbow said chuckling a bit but silencing it by wiping her snout with her hoof. "Maybe just a bit" Spitfire said coyly. "I.....To-today is the anniversary of my parents death" Rainbow Dash sighed, getting comfortable under Spitfires wing. "Rainbow I'm, I'm so sorry I had no idea." Spitfire was worried she had upset the mare. "And why would you? I never told anyone this before." Rainbow reassured her. "Do you want to talk about it?" Spitfire asked, trying not to pressure her. "Ye-yeah, I think t it would be good to get it out" Rainbow said. "Well I'm right here ready to listen" Spitfire said, getting comfortable on the bed. "Well it all happened when I was just a filly, I wasn't really like the others" Rainbow began. ~Flashback~ "Hey dad? I have a question." A small Rainbow maned filly said "Yes Rainbow what is it" A larger light grey pegasus replied. "Well today we had the birds and the bees talk from the teacher, but they never said anything about two mares....Can that happen?" She asked with general curiosity. She was rewarded with a sharp hit on the top of the head. "Rainbow Dash, I do not want to hear another word about this! Do you under stand! Two mares being together is wrong! Not another word" The larger pegasus scolded her. "Y-yes dad!" The Rainbow filly answered her father. ~Present~ "And a couple years later I got my first fillyfriend, "Skyfire". My dad had said it was wrong but I didn't care. Until I actually told him that is. He called up Skyfire's parents and told them. We were forbidden the see each other ever again. Three years later I walked out on them and left." Rainbow said finishing her tale. "Did you ever see them again" Spitfire asked her curiosity over taking her. "No. I never saw "Skyfire" again either, I still miss her too. She made me the happiest, when we were together. You kind of remind me of her, except her special talent was cooking." Rainbow concluded "Did she look like me." Spitfire asked her. "Not really, she was white with light orange hair." Rainbow Dash remembered her fondly. "Well why don't you tell me about the first time you met?" Spitfire suggested, "It might help you cope.." "Well..It was my first year at Cloudsdale Elementary school. I just walked into my first class." ~Flash back~ "Alright everyone please take your seats." A elder brown pegasus mare rapped her ruler on the desk. A little cerulean blue pegasus took a seat next to a white filly with an orange mane. "Hey there my names Rainbow Dash!" She greeted the other filly. "Hi! My names Skyfire" The other filly smiled. "I like the color of your mane, It reminds me of the Wonderbolts!" Rainbow complimented her. "Really!?!?!? Ohmygosh that is the nicest thing anyone has ever said to me!" Punctuating her statement with a peck on the cheek. ~Present~ "And I guess after that we just kinda fell for each other." Rainbow said, finish her second tale of the night with a single(coltly) tear. "Rainbow..." "Yeah Spitfire?" "Ummmm, I Know you don't really feel good, but I'm going to leave you to sleep. Your going to need it, I'll see you in the morning" Spitfire said, not sure that now was the right time to confess her love for Rainbow Dash, "Stupid stupid, stupid!" She mentally beraded herself. But while she was internally yelling some quite harsh words at herself her heart jumped at Rainbows next statement. "Wait....Spitfire?" Rainbow stopped her in the middle of the door frame. "Yes Rainbow?" Spitfire replied. "C-could you sleep in my bed tonight? I don't really want to be alone right now." Rainbow Dash conceded, a coy smile apon her face. "Of corse I can Rainbow" And with that Spitfire climbed up onto the bed and locked Rainbow Dash in her embrace. As they fell asleep both of them were in a state of happiness they hadn't felt in years, love. Author's Note Third rewrite of the chapter! Hope you like. I didn't really like how she confessed her love, so I found a solution! She didn't (trololololol). They both know it but nothings been confessed. NEW CHAPTER TIME! -Theengineerbrony Rainbow's crisesSpitfire shuffled her hoof around in her saddle bag looking for her key to the house. It had been two days since she had found Rainbow Dash in her room crying and since then, she had slipped into a depression that Spitfire had not been able to coax her out of. Basically what happened is Rainbow Dash called in sick, didn't go to work, just stayed in her bed, and only came down when Spitfire called her for dinner. Spitfire was starting to get worried. She had talked to Rainbow's friends but none of them had ever encountered this problem before. She thought about all these things as she entered the house. Instantly, she flipped on the lights and saw that the house was the same as she had left it. "Some mares would be happy about that…" she thought bitterly to herself. She set her keys down and walked into the kitchen, grabbing the grocery bags on her way in. She made her way to the counter and took out a knife. With that, she began chopping up vegetables and dropping them into a pot on the stove. When she was done with those, she took out a large can of broth, opened it, and dumped it into the pot as well. Setting the stove on high and putting on the timer, she walked into the living room and sat down on the couch. Taking a book off the coffee table (Coincidentally, it was "Telling Somepony You Love Them, for Foals."), she started reading, determined to make time pass quicker. Looking around to make sure Rainbow wasn't watching her, she opened the book and took out some note paper she had gotten from twilight. Already on the sheet was some quickly written notes, "Before starting this book, make sure that your feelings for this certain pony are real." I'm pretty sure that I feel this way about Dash. At least I really, really like her. "Before you tell somepony you love them, make sure they feel the same way, or are willing to give it a try." I don't know if Rainbow loves me back and I definitely don't know if she'd give me a shot. I might need to do a little more research. "When telling somepony you love them, make sure you're both in a comfortable place. Whether it be emotionally or physically." Rainbow isn't really in a good place right now....... I should wait until she feels better. And that was only some of the page. Twilight had suggested she take notes, to see where she stood on everything. Spitfire had hastily agreed, not wanting to make a complete foal out of herself in front of Rainbow. She opened up the book and got started reading. After a little while of taking notes, Spitfire heard the timer buzz and tucked away her notes and book. She got up from the couch, walked into the kitchen, grabbed an oven mitt in her mouth, and took the pot off the stove. Shutting off the stove, she got out two bowls (One for herself and one for Rainbow.) and set them on the table. Filling them both with soup, she called Rainbow Dash down for dinner. "Rainbow! It's time for dinner!" Just as she called she heard the gentle thumps of hoof hitting cloud and then the subsequent thumps of walking. She then looked out to see the mare in question make her way down the steps with her blanket still draped around her. "Wow, I didn't think she could look even worse... I was wrong," Spitfire thought, watching Rainbow make her way to the table. Spitfire moved out of the way as she walked through the door and sat down at the table. Spitfire walked over and joined her. She was about to dig in when she saw that Dash wasn't eating; just staring at her food. "Rainbow are you going to eat your soup?" She was met with silence, to which she responded with, "Am I going to have to feed you?" Again she was met with silence. "Fine...." Spitfire dropped her own spoon and got up, walked over to Rainbow's side of the table, and picked up Dash's spoon. She filled the spoon up with soup and lifted it to Dash's lips. When Dash wouldn't open her lips, Spitfire sighed. "Idea!" She thought, and lifted her other hoof to her mouth. Making the spoon fly around like a pegasus, she said "*Krrrsshh* Tower, this is Soarin' the Wonderbolt requesting permission to land." With that, Rainbow allowed the spoon to enter her mouth. "Am I going to have to do that every time?" Spitfire asked, suppressing a giggle. She was met with silence, so she proceeded to do it again, until the bowl was half empty. By then Rainbow simply refused to open her mouth. "Fine," Spitfire sighed putting down the spoon. At least she had gotten Rainbow to eat something. Motioning for Rainbow to get off her chair, she let Dash lean on her as they walked to her room. When they got there, Spitfire nudged the door open and led Rainbow in. As she put Rainbow in the bed, she took the corner of the sheet and drew it over her. As she walked out the door, she looked back she saw a Rainbow Dash looking at her with a questioning look. "No Rainbow, I'm not sleeping with you tonight." That was met with a look of sadness, which caused Spitfire to cave in. "Fine, I'll be in soon." With that Rainbow flopped her head back down on the pillow and looked at the ceiling. Spitfire quickly trotted back down into the kitchen. She quickly cleaned up the dishes and then proceeded to the living room to turn off the light. With one last look at her book, she quickly shook her head and trotted back up stairs. When she entered the room she heard soft sniffs coming from the bed. As soon as she got in the bed and hugged Rainbow, they almost instantly stopped. "This mare..." Spitfire thought "Is going to drive me to craziness." Author's Note I had to get this part in after reading this(http://askapplejackandrainbowdash.tumblr.com/post/12264010276). But anyway, I re-rewrote the last chapter for the final time, making it so Spitfire didn't declare her love, just yet. I wrote this chapter with remarkable speed and loved writing it! One more thing: If one more person tells me to slow down on my writing, I will make a shout out and get everyone to spam you. It's not that I don't appreciate the criticism. I've just heard it so many [CENSORED] time, guys. New chapter soon. -Theengineerbrony An Intervention, of sorts.....Rainbow Dash lay in her bed, Spitfire having left for work hours ago. She felt horrible, having aches all over and a massive headache. She also felt bad about how she'd been treating Spitfire lately. She decided that she'd go wait in the living room, take a nap maybe. "Yeah!" she thought. She got out of the bed and, draping the blanket over her, she walked out the door and down to the living room. "Spitfire really has been keeping this place clean," she mumbled to herself, taking in the cleanliness of the house. She walked into the living room and sat down on the couch. Turning on the light on the end table, she looked at the coffee table. Strange, she'd never seen that book there before... Telling Somepony You Love Them, for Foals. "Huh...." She opened the book up. A piece of note paper fell out of the book and onto the ground. Rainbow looked at it and picked it up. It seemed to be a note sheet. Well there's only one pony who reads in this house, and it certainly wasn't Rainbow. She looked closer at the note sheet. After reading, Rainbow was in a state of shock. "No… no... no, it can't be Spitfire. It must be somepony else," she said, not wanting to believe. Rainbow ran out of the living room and up the stairs to the bedroom. -Time Lapse- Spitfire fumbled around with her saddlebags, trying to find her keys. Finding them and unlocking the door, she went in, determined to do some more reading today. As she walked into the living room the first thing she saw was her book thrown carelessly on the floor and her note sheet on the coffee table stained with tears. The only thing that came to Spitfire's mind was, "Oh buck." She ran over to the sheet. "Nonononononono! She couldn't have read it!" she sighed out loud. "Ok Spitfire, calm down....... Maybe she didn't read it!" There was still a chance she hadn't read it. She let out a breath she didn't know she was holding in and walked into the kitchen. Getting some left over soup from the fridge, she put it in the microwave allowing it to heat up. While dinner was "cooking," she let her mind wander to other things. Without something busying her mind, her anxiety easily returned. It was when she was on the 124th scenario of Rainbow being completely pissed, this one involving a rather long extension cord, that the microwave beeped and elicited a small 'eep' from the zoned out pegasus. Once she recovered from the small scare, she took the container out of the microwave and poured it into to small bowls. Placing them on the table, she called Dash down to dinner. "Rainbow, it's time for dinner!" Moments passed, not receiving a response or hearing any movement she called again. "Rainbow! It's time for dinner!" Getting annoyed with the pegasus for not responding, she used her full name. "Rainbow Dash! It is time for dinner! Get your flank down here!" She yelled, having lost her patients moments before. Still hearing nothing, Spitfire was officially pissed. Rainbow Dash needed an intervention NOW! Storming up the stairs and over to the door of Dash's room, she was about to buck it open when she heard some not so gentle sobbing coming from inside. Quietly opening up the door, Spitfire whispered, "Rainbow? Are you ok?" Her question was answered with more crying. "Rainbow, please talk to me. I just want to know what's wrong," Spitfire said, trying to get some form of answer. "Oh please, you don't give two **** about me," Rainbow managed to get out in between sobs. "Rainbow! Why would you say such a thing!" Spitfire said, surprised by the profanity from the young pegasus. "Because it's true!" Rainbow shouted back. "Rainbow Dash!" Spitfire shouted "You need to get out of whatever funk you are in! You have friends that care about you and love you." Spitfire was now right next to Rainbow's bed "Dammit, Rainbow.... I... I love you, ok?!? There, I said it. I love you!" Rainbows hoof was so fast, it collided with Spitfire muzzle before she could even react. "Don't you dare say that! You probably just want to use me like every other filly I've met!" Rainbow was now shouting even louder. Spitfire didn't give herself time to respond. She simply jumped on top of Rainbow and stared into her eyes with a look of pure hurt. "Spitfire, what are you doing?" Rainbow asked, her anger starting to fade, looking at the face before her. But before Rainbow could ask again, Spitfire locked her lips with hers. Rainbow simply melted into the kiss and as Spitfire drew her lips away her, sadness over clouded her anger. Hugging the other mare tight, Rainbow broke down into tears. "I-I'm s-so sorry! I-I ju-just didn't wa-want to g-get hu-hurt," Rainbow choked out the words into Spitfire's outstretched forehooves. "Shush now, it's ok. You have no reason to apologize," Spitfire hushed the filly as she stroked the frazzled mane. Rainbow Dash was sobbing uncontrollably and Spitfire couldn't stop it. Then she had an idea. Holding the crying mare in her arms, Spitfire began to sing, "Hush now, quiet now. It's time to lay your sleepy head. Hush now, quiet now. It's time to go to bed. Drifting off to sleep, exciting day behind you. Drifting off to sleep, letting the joy of dreamland find you. Hush now, quiet now. It's time to lay your sleepy head. Hush now, quiet now. It's time to go to bed." As she finished the song, she could hear the rhythmic breathing of sleep coming from the cyan pegasus. Leaning her head over the other mare, she kissed her on the forehead. "Good night, my little Dashie." Author's Note Hey guys! Sorry it took me so long to finish this chapter! I wasn't really inspired but then I planned some things out and hope to get around 15 chapters out of this! Until next time. -Theengineerbrony It's complicated-Dream Sequence- A small blue pegasus filly sat in a ring of other colts and fillies, her eyes red and puffy from crying. "Fillyfooler!" a chocolate colt yelled. "Fillyfooler! Fillyfooler! Fillyfooler! Fillyfooler!" The other foals repeated, constantly taunting the blue filly! "N-no! I-I'm not a f-filly-f-fooler!" the blue filly denied, wanting the taunting to stop. -End Dream Sequence (Error Code 404)- Rainbow Dash awoke with a start. She was covered in sweat and panting heavily. Seeing the empty bed beside her, last night came rushing back to her in a flood. Wow, she felt like shit, she had treated her friends like shit, she treated her... marefriend? (Like shit.) What did Rainbow call their relationship? Spitfire had admitted her love and Rainbow answered her with bawling into her arms. Yeah... they were totally going out. As Rainbow thought about this, another pony in the kitchen was think the same exact thing. (Or almost the same thing.) After thinking about how (shitty) she had treated her friends and just about everyone else in her life, Rainbow got up from bed and trotted towards the door with a new look of purpose on her face. Looking out the hallway, she took a sniff. "Wait, what's that smell?" she mumbled to herself, her old purpose replaced by that of finding out where that delicious smell was coming from. Walking out of the hallway and down the stairs, she peeked into the kitchen. Spitfire was at the counter chopping carrots. She looked up, "Well hey there sleepy head, how was your night?" Spitfire asked, a wide grin on her face. "Ugh, I feel like I slept on a rock," Rainbow Dash said, giving a quick peck on the cheek to Spitfire. Spitfire blushed and said, "Uhh, Rainbow that's what I wanted to talk to you about." Dash's stomach lurched. "Well, I'm screwed," Dash thought. Spitfire lead Rainbow Dash over to the table where a plate full of hay bacon strips, eggs, and wheat toast lay. Rainbow's mouth watered at the sight before her. "Last night was very... emotional and I just wanted you know..." Spitfire paused. "Buck, there goes my relationship, right out the window! Bye bye!" Dash though bitterly. "I still love you, that wasn't just last night," Spitfire said. Rainbow Dash's heart jumped at this statement, however she acted modest. "Well I am a pretty great pony," Well sort of modest. "Plus my personality is to die for!" Ok, not modest at all. "Yeah, to die for... well I was wondering if you wanted to maybe go out the lunch today?" Spitfire asked. "I look forward to it!" Rainbow said, giving Spitfire another peck on the cheek. -Three hours later...- The two mares walked down the street. They had decided to go to Sugarcube Corner. As they walked there, Rainbow looked around. She was happier than she had been in a long time and her face showed it. Walking down the street, she began to hum a little tune. (Coincidentally it sounded like the song she sang at the gala.) "What cha' whistling there Dashie?" Spitfire asked with a smirk. As soon as she said that Rainbows wings shot out. Luckily no one was injured. "You have no idea how much that turns me on..." Rainbow said, making Spitfire blush. Getting back up off the ground and Rainbow tucking her wings back at her side, the two mares continued on in silence. Just being happy with each others' company. They got there in no time. "After you, m'lady," Rainbow said, opening the door for Spitfire. "My my, Rainbow, if this is the personality to die for, I may just," Spitfire chided. They walked up to the counter to be met by Mrs. Cake. "What can I get you dears?" Mrs. Cake asked. "I'll have a smoothie," Spitfire said. Rainbow soon readily agreed. They then walked back to a table with their smoothies, along with some cupcakes. "So this is our first date?" Spitfire asked. "Well...I mean, I didn't really..." Rainbow stumbled over her words. "It's complicated," Rainbow finally said. "What do you mean, 'It's complicated'?" Spitfire asked (again). "Well, I mean this is more like some mare on mare time. You know, just hanging out," Rainbow said, a blush showing on her face. "Mare on mare?" Spitfire asked, "Still sounds like a date to me..." "Fine, it's a date," Rainbow conceded, "Just sounds lame." "Good, I wanted to go on one." Spitfire smiled and Dash smiled back. After an hour of being there, they walked out the front doors. "Oh, I need to go feed Tank!" Rainbow said, "I haven't fed him since yesterday!" "That's ok. I need to go return a book to twilight," Spitfire said, "I'll see you later?" "Yep!" Rainbow said, giving her new marefriend a peck on the cheek. She then proceeded to fly away. "Hey!" Spitfire called, "You think you getting away with just a peck?" Spitfire raised an eyebrow. "Oh... sorry." Rainbow came back down and kissed Spitfire passionately on the lips, "That better?" "Much" Spitfire answered. Rainbow flew away towards her house and Spitfire started walked towards the library. As Spitfire walked towards the library, she quickly bought an apple for herself and began to chew. She had finished the apple by the time she got to the library and chucked it into a trash can. 'Ding Ding' the bell rang as Spitfire pushed open the door to the library. "Hi there Spitfire! What can I do for you today?" Twilight asked. "Oh... I just wanted to return this book," Spitfire said, trying not to hint at anything. Twilight looked at the cover. "Did you not find it helpful?" Twilight asked, worried that books couldn't provide her with the knowledge she needed. Spitfire couldn't help herself. "No, let's just say... I won't be needing it anymore." Spitfire winked and flew out of the library. Author's Note Wow guys! 5,000 total views! Thank you all sooooo much! I just wanted to say: 1. This chapter was really fun to write so I hope you enjoyed it. 2. I write a scene in which they admit their love that doesn't end up with them bucking each other senseless, and it comes off as "Mother & Daughter?" Wtf? Confessions of love-Six months later (Because I'm the writer and I can skip things that aren't important I.E. the last six months.)- Six months later and Rainbow Dash and Spitfire have (somehow) kept the fact that they were dating a secret from all their friends. It shouldn't have been that hard considering they live together but I'm getting off topic. The two mares in question were laying in front of a new concrete fireplace that Rainbow had gotten enchanted and put in her home. Spitfire's head was leaning up against Rainbow's neck. "Hey Spitfire?" Rainbow asked, breaking the trance they were in. "Yeah Dash?" "You know how we've been dating for around...... Six months now?" "Yeah?" "Do you think it's time we told our friends?" Spitfire's heart almost stopped at that question. "Well Rainbow..." "Please!?!?!" Rainbow Dash interrupted her. "But Dash..." "I just want be able to be seen loving with you in public!" Rainbow hoped up and flew to the ceiling, "I'll shout it from the rooftops if I have to! HEY WORLD! I LOVE...." "OK! Ok, well tell them tomorrow, now let’s go to bed, drama queen." Spitfire got up and started to walk over to the stairs, however she was tackled by an overly happy pegasus. "Thankyouthankyouthankyou!" Rainbow squealed, covering her marefriend in kisses. -The next morning (Because again I can skip... You know what? Never mind, we already went over this.)- Rainbow awoke to the smell of food, per usual, and instantly let her nose lead her to the food in question. Walking down the stairs, she saw Spitfire at the stove. "Well hay there. You’re just in time for breakfast," Spitfire greeted her. "Spitfire, if there’s one thing I love about living with you, it's your cooking" Rainbow said, already munching on food. "I'm going to take that as a complement," Spitfire sighed. "I dropped some notes off at the post-office this morning and your friends should be here by around... sixish?" "What?!?!?" Rainbow gasped. "Spitfire, that only gives me seven hours to prepare!" "How much time do you need?" Spitfire asked, raising her eyebrow. "More than that," Rainbow said, quickly finishing her food. "Well maybe you'll learn to get up earlier then eleven" Spitfire called, cleaning up the dishes and the house. "Yeah, like that'll happen" Rainbow Dash snorted in response. -seven hours later (Not going over this again.)- 'Ding Dong' the doorbell rang. "I've got it!" Spitfire called. She walked over to the door. Opening it, she was face to face with a pegasus, two unicorns, and two earth ponies. "Wait, how are you...?" Spitfire began. "Cloud walking spell," Twilight interrupted her. "Huh..." Spitfire’s mouth was partially agape. Not moving from her spot, Spitfire just stared at Twilight in amazement while the rest of the group looked on awkwardly. Rainbow Dash walked over to the door, "Hey guys! How’s it goi..." She noticed Spitfire just standing there. "Oh, not again. One second guys," Rainbow walked over and kissed Spitfire on the cheek. Blushing, Spitfire moved out of the door way. "Oh, sorry about that. I guess I was a little surprised," Spitfire started "But please come in!" Now it was their friends turn to stare at what they had just seen awkwardly. It took a little while but Spitfire realized what had happened. "Ummm... Well why don't you five go sit down in the living room; we'll be in momentarily. I just need to have a talk with Rainbow here," Spitfire said, before dragging Rainbow Dash into the kitchen. Her friends however walked into the living room and sat down. "Did you just kiss me!?!?!" Spitfire hissed. "Yeah, and? We’re going to tell them anyway right?" Rainbow asked, the befuddlement clear on her face. "Yes! But I wanted to make sure it was the right time," Spitfire hissed again. "Well how 'bout we go in there now? Together, as a couple," Rainbow said, draping a wing over Spitfire. Upon this Spitfire's expression softened, "Fine, let’s go" Spitfire conceded. With Rainbow's wing draped over her, Spitfire and Rainbow Dash walked into the living room and sat on the couch across from their friends. "Guys..." Spitfire addressed their friends, "We have something we want to tell you, Me and Rainbow, we're kinda...." "Spitfire, I don't think they can hear you..." Rainbow chuckled. Spitfire looked up at Rainbow and she smiled, Spitfire smiled back. "Were going out," Spitfire said, still smiling, "There, now was that so hard?" Rainbow asked, kissing her marefriend. "Well I for one think it's wonderful!" Rarity said, breaking the silence that had ensued. "Oh! Yes... me too" Fluttershy said, both of them smiling. "Well, what about the rest of you?" Rainbow asked. Pinkie Pie and Twilight both let out a breath that they didn't know they were holding in. "Well Pinkie and I think it's great that you two are going out!" Twilight said, "Right Pinkie?" "Oh... Yeah!" Pinkie said, chuckling nervously. "Huh... Well ah can't say I understand it, Ahm not opposed to it ah guess," Applejack said, a look of thought plastered on her face. "So..." Twilight started, "How long has this been going on?" "About six months," Dash stated. "Do you want to tell them Pinks?" Twilight asked Pinkie Pie. "Me and Twilight are going out!" Pinkie said, planting a slobbery kiss on Twilight’s lips. After multiple cheers of approval for the two new couples, the rest of the friends had left and Spitfire and Rainbow were sitting in the living room enjoying each other's company. When out of the blue the door rang. "I'll get it," Rainbow said, leaving her place for the moment. She walked over to the door and opened it, before her stand a magenta pegasus mare, with a light blue mane, and two lightning bolts for her cutie mark. "Hey there, little sis! How's it going?" The mare asked. All but one word left Rainbows mind: "Buck." Author's Note Cliffhanger! Huhah I've wanted to do that for a long time. Thank you again Kiroberos! Anyways, I'll try and get the next chapter up ASAP. -Theengineerbrony A surprise vistWhere were we? Let’s see... Oh yes, a mysterious mare had just arrived and I believe Rainbow had responded with, "Oh buck." Huh, well back to the story! (I'm calling her "Mystery Mare" in hopes that some of you haven't figured it out yet.) Rainbow Dash stood there staring in awe and confusion at what lay before her. "Well little sis, I didn't expect you to have such a mouth on you!" the mystery mare said. "Rainbow? Who is it?" Spitfire called from the living room. "And who is that?" The mystery mare asked. "Uh... Don't worry Spitfire. It's... Nopony," Rainbow called back. "So I'm a nopony now?" the mare smirked. "What?!? No no no, I didn't say that! I just mean..." Rainbow looked deep in thought. (And awesome.) "Rainbow, is everything ok in there?" Spitfire asked, getting up from the couch. "Yeah, everything's fine!" Rainbow insisted. However, that answer didn't satisfy Spitfire and she got up and walked out into the hallway. "Rainbow? Who's this?" Spitfire said, with a raised eyebrow. "Who? Oh her, ummmm..." Rainbow bit her bottom lip trying to come up with an answer. "I'm Fyre Fly, Rainbow’s adoptive sister. It's nice to meet you... Spitfire?" Fyre Fly introduced herself. "It's nice to meet you too, I'm Rainbow's... roommate" Spitfire said, shaking her hoof, "And Rainbow? You couldn't just tell me that?" Spitfire asked a very sheepish looking Rainbow Dash. "Well... I didn't mean for you two to meet this way," Rainbow pawed at the floor. "So you were planning on having us meet?" Spitfire questioned, all the while and amused looking Fyre Fly simply watched. Rainbow sighed, "Umm, why don't we move this to the kitchen. It sounds like I have some explaining to do," Rainbow said, gesturing to said kitchen. "Yeah," Spitfire and Fyre Fly both said at the same time. They all walked to the kitchen, Spitfire watching Fyre Fly the entire way. When they got into the kitchen Rainbow and Fyre Fly sat at the table, and Spitfire started to make something to eat. "You’re going to make her do all the work?" Fyre Fly asked Rainbow. "Oh please... That mare couldn't cook if her life depended on it," Spitfire snorted, to which Fyre Fly chuckled and Rainbow Dash just hid her face in her hooves. After warming up some spaghetti and setting three plates of it down on the table, Spitfire sat down and joined the other two. "So Rainbow, why don't you get started on that story?" Spitfire asked her. "Uh yeah, sure... It was during Jr. Speedster’s flight camp..." -Flash Back!- My parents had just died and I needed a legal guardian to continue going to the camp. Eventually they just sent me to an orphanage. But while I was there, it was the worst thing in my life. I was sad, lonely, and all around not happy. But one day, a light pink mare walked in and looked around. She saw me in the corner just sitting there clutching my Wonderbolts doll, and walked over to me. "Hey there little filly... You ok?" "Y-yeah, I-I'm fine..." "Cause' you sure don't look ok." "I'm fine!" "Hey there’s the fillyfooler!" a grey colt shouted, pointing his hoof at Rainbow from across the room. Previous statements forgotten, the filly Rainbow instantly grabbed on to the larger mare, tears coming out at full speed. "W-why are they s-so mean t-to me?" she asked between sobs. "Shhh, it’s ok. I'm not going to let them hurt you anymore." She brushed the filly's mane with her hoof. -End Flash Back- "She ended up adopting me. Although because I never really got over not having my parents, we were more like sisters," Rainbow said, finishing her short tale. "Wow, well I wasn't expecting to hear that tonight," Spitfire said, cleaning up the plates. "Ok, ok. Now it's time for a different story. What’s going on between you two? You've been stealing looks at each other all night," Fyre Fly asked, making both of them blush. "Well you see," Rainbow took a deep breath, "Spitfires my marefriend!" Rainbow cringed and waited for the 'What?!?!?!' that never came. "Oh, well I wish you would've sent me a letter or something," Fyre Fly said, leaving Rainbow’s jaw open agape. "Rainbow, jaw," Spitfire reminded her. Closing her jaw, Dash asked, "Wait, so you’re ok with that?" "Rainbow Dash, I adopted you when you were eight and made a promise to love you no matter what. This isn't an exception," Fyre Fly said, bringing her in for a hug. "Is the marefriend allowed in the hug to?" Spitfire asked forelegs outspread. They responded by pulling her into it too. After a couple seconds the hug dispersed. "You know what? Fyre Fly, I think it's great your here!" Spitfire said. "And why's that?" she asked. "Well...You’re about the closest thing Rainbow has to family right now correct?" Spitfire asked. "Well yes, I suppose so..." Fyre Fly said hesitantly. "Well then I'd like your blessing," Spitfire said, with a slight sigh. "For what exactly?" Fyre Fly asked, eyeing her curiously. Spitfire took a small box out from under her wing and opened it. Inside was a beautiful sapphire necklace. "Rainbow Dash... Will you marry me?" Spitfire asked, getting down on one knee. Rainbow looked at Spitfire with tears in her eyes and said, "Yes...Yes, a thousand times yes!" Rainbow leapt into a hug that Spitfire had been willing to provide for her. They kissed and they had never been happier in their lives. "Well, this has been an interesting turn of events!" Fyre Fly said, a smile on her face. "But I think you'll be happy to know that I give you my full blessing," Fyre Fly said. After they stopped hugging, they walked with Fyre Fly to the door. "Come back soon, ok?" Rainbow asked, hugging her sister. "Of course I will!" Fyre Fly said. She then walked over to Spitfire and hugged her as well. "Take care of her for me, ok?" she got out between half tears and half chuckles. "I will," Spitfire promised, and with that Fyre Fly took off and into the night sky. Author's Note You all knew where this was going... Anyways I wrote this about 10 PM at night and it just flowed out of me all in one sitting! Gods this was fun to write. Thank you once again my good friends and Kiroberos. I'll see you all soon. -Theengineerbrony A problem occursSpitfire felt like a god. She felt as though she could overcome any obstacle thrown her way; any at all. And she had good reason, too. Just yesterday, Spitfire had proposed to Rainbow Dash and she had accepted. She couldn't help but feel as though she had conquered the world because in a sense, she had. She had conquered her world and her life. And now, she couldn't be happier flying next to the pony who she wanted to spend the rest of that life and that world with. "Spitfire!" Rainbow yelled, trying to get her attention. "What?" Spitfire shouted back, trying to be heard over the rush of the wind. "I saw you spaced out back there. You better focus on flying!" Rainbow yelled, smirking. "Oh don't worry, I'm plenty focused!" Spitfire yelled, "How about we take a break on that cloud over there?" She suggested, gesturing to an upcoming cloud. "Sounds good!" Rainbow Dash agreed. Stopping, she softly landed on the cloud and pointed out, "Hey! Look at that. The sun’s already setting!" "Yeah, it sure is," Spitfire agreed, before resting her head on Rainbow's shoulder and adding, "Makes you feel small, doesn't it?" "Yeah, it kinda does," Rainbow returned, silence ensuing as they watched the sun go down. Rainbow interrupted the short silence after a while. "So where are we going, anyways?" she asked. "Well considering I just proposed yesterday, I thought we would have a little celebration." Rainbow blushed before Spitfire continued, "So I got Soarin' to lend me the Wonderbolts’ stadium for some dinner and some... hot.... steamy..." Spitfire leaned in close, making Rainbow blush. "Racing!" she quickly finished, withdrawing before Dash could do anything. "You got Soarin' to lend you the entire stadium?" Rainbow asked, for once, genuinely impressed. "Well yeah, he kinda owed me a favor..." Spitfire started before hesitating. "And what was this favor, Spitfire?" Rainbow asked, smirking again. "Uhh well," Spitfire muttered, blushing and finally admitting, "Let’s just say that if it wasn't for him, I would be half as happy as I am now..." With that, she planted a quick kiss on Rainbow's lips. "I'll take that for an answer," Rainbow cooed, planting a longer, more passionate kiss on her lover’s lips. After a bit, they broke apart smiling. "Wait, Spits?" "Yeah?" Spitfire asked, responding to her pet name. "You said dinner, but neither of us brought any food..." Rainbow questioned, raising an eyebrow at Spitfire. "Don't you think I would've had food delivered there?" Spitfire reasoned. "Nope," Dash responded simply. Spitfire stood up. "Now come on. We’re almost there anyways." She poked the other filly with her leg. "Fine, but I expect only the best of foods!" Rainbow declared, posing dramatically. "Would pizza be fine?" Spitfire asked. Rainbow immediately got down from her pose before accepting, "Yeah, pizza would be cool." Spitfire couldn't help but chuckle at that. "Well good, as that’s what I ordered," Spitfire stated, a-matter-o-factly. "Shall we go?" Rainbow suggested in a fake Trottingham accent. "Mmm yes, let’s," Spitfire agreed, smiling and repeating the accent. Together they took off from the cloud and began to fly to the stadium once more, this time at a more leisurely pace. "So how long has it been since you preformed here?" Rainbow asked, trying to strike a conversation back up. "Oh, I don't know... Eight months?" Spitfire estimated, deep in thought. "But I thought you only quit six months ago...?" Rainbow questioned. "I quit in the middle of training," Spitfire admitted, a sheepish grin on her face. "Oh..." Rainbow murmured, looking away for a moment. As soon as she looked away, she heard a loud "Squawk!" from the side of her. She looked back to her side and Spitfire wasn't there anymore. She stopped and looked around but she was nowhere to be seen. Looking down finally, she saw Spitfire free falling with her wing at an awkward angle. Shit she thought to herself, realizing she was letting her fall. Rainbow began a free fall of her own an instant later. While trying to catch up with Spitfire, Rainbow felt her eyes sting and begin to water and even though she began to speed up more and more, she couldn't catch up with Spitfire. Feeling the familiar Mach cone begin to form around her, she felt a slight jolt of hope as she began to speed up slowly, closing the gap between her and Spitfire. As they neared the ground closer and closer, Rainbow thought she was going to catch Spitfire... She really did. When she finally broke the sound barrier and the familiar circular rainbow explosion litter the sky, it propelled her in the opposite direction of her target. "NO! NONONO!" Rainbow shouted, quickly trying to turn around. Meanwhile, a yellow pegasus fell to the ground with a simple “thump” noise. Rainbow finally turned around as quick as she could and began flying towards the limp body. However, upon reaching the broken body and giving it one look, all she could do was sit down next to it and begin to cry. "HELP! Please help me!" Rainbow yelled to the surrounding forest. Ponyville was nearby, thankfully, and her cries were soon answered by Pinkie’s 'Pinkie Sense' and 4 other very familiar ponies. "Guys! Please help me. She's hurt!" Rainbow cried. She was rapidly taken into the arms of an orange farm pony. "Shhh, its okay, just cry it out," Applejack comforted, cradling the pegasus in her arms. "Pl-please h-help her..." Rainbow got out between choked sobs. "It's okay. Twi' won't let her die, I know it!" Author's Note Problem much? You guys hopefully didn't see this coming! And hopefully you won't see the next chapter either. This was my best attempt at a cliffhanger. Also, did you notice this chapter was grammatically correct? That’s 'cause I got it checked beforehand. Expect more of that -Theengineerbrony I'll love you alwaysTick, tick, tick. The clock on the wall was ticking away the seconds, all the while Rainbow Dash sat in a hospital. The other pony that was usually there was out on a call. After Spitfire had fallen from the sky (quite literally), she had been rushed to the hospital in Canterlot by ambulance. Rainbow was the only one riding in the back besides the medic and had been in the room with her ever since. However, Spitfire had undergone quite a makeover. Her head was wrapped in bandages and wings were well..... gone. 'Gone, bucking gone!' Rainbow thought bitterly, 'She'll never fly again.' -Flash Back- The doctor walked out of the room to a sobbing Rainbow Dash. "Miss Dash I presume?" He addressed her. "Y-yeah, that’s me. Will she be all right?" "Why don't you look for yourself?" He showed her a pair of x-rays. Rainbow stared at them for a while before saying, "I have no idea what those mean..." "She broke every bone in both of her wings, piercing the skin in several places. She also broke several ribs and her right arm, as well as her left leg. Miss Dash, I hate to tell you this but she'll be perfectly fine except..." "Wait, you hate to tell me she'll be fine?" Rainbow interrupted the doctor, raising an eyebrow. "If you let me finish, I would tell you she'll be fine except her wings. W-we have to amputate them." A grim expression played over the doctor’s face as he said this. "I'm sorry but not even our most talented unicorns could save her wings." "You mean she'll never fly again?" "Sadly, yes." Rainbow then began to weep silently; the only sound was her tears hitting the floor. -Flash Forward- A couple days earlier, Rainbow had been in the hospital after taking her anger out on flying. It didn't go over so well and she had been grounded for a couple days, during which time she had discovered a new love of reading. She had brought over her favorite book, "Daring Do", for Spitfire to read while she was in the hospital. When she woke that is... -Time Lapse- Here she is again. Rainbow was sitting at the edge of Spitfire’s bed. The heart monitor quietly beeping in the background and another visitor not so quietly snoring in the corner with his hat tipped over his eyes. "H-hey Spitfire, how’s it going?" Rainbow asked to herself, followed by, "I got you a new book to read when you wake up, I guess....." Spitfire moaned in her sleep at that. "Rainbow D-dash," She whispered. "Spitfire!?!" Rainbows head snapped to attention, shouting, "Spitfire! It's me. It's Rainbow Dash!" Spitfire slowly opened her eyes, only to see Rainbow before her with tears in her eyes. "Rainbow!" Spitfire was almost tackled out of the bed by Dash, however she managed to keep herself upright. Right after, Rainbow planted a very passionate kiss right on Spitfire’s lips. Spitfire immediately looked to the corner of the room to where the dark grey pegasus with a yellow and orange mane was still sleeping, only to ask, "Who the buck is that?" "Oh him? I think his name is Skylight... When you crashed, he was the EMT in the back. He got a pulse right before they pulled you into the hospital and he's been coming in between EMS calls," Rainbow explained, her smile disappearing after she mentioned the accident but then returned talking about how she lived. The smile was once again short lived however, after remembering what she would have to tell Spitfire. "I brought you a book!" Rainbow said, giving her "Daring Do". "When did you get into reading?" "The week that you've been asleep." "Oh, well would you like to read it to me?" "I would love to." Rainbow quickly kissed her on the cheek. "Now let’s start at the beginning. 'Daring Do stood before the entrance to th.." "Hey Rainbow?" "Yeah Spitfire?" "Why does my back feel so light? Did they put some numbing agent on it or something?" Spitfire looked at her back and gasped. "Oh, well Spitfire..." "Rainbow, where are my wings?!?" "Ummm....Yeah, after you fell, your wings completely broke. Th-they had to am-amputate them," Dash said, tears forming in her eyes once more. She then proceeded to bawl into Spitfires chest. "So they’re gone?" Spitfire asked. All Rainbow could manage was to nod into her chest. "Gone; I have no wings... None at all....." "And now you can never fly again," Rainbow muttered, crying. "Hey, shhhhhh. It's ok. I'm fine. I can still walk on clouds, however you pointing out the obvious isn't helping," Spitfire spoke soothingly to Rainbow, even though on the inside she was freaking the buck out. 'I don't have wings! They're just gone! No... no I have to be strong.... For Rainbow and for me,' She thought to herself. "No! It's not fine! You can't fly anymore! You, a pegasus that can't bucking fly!" Dash continued to cry. "Rainbow! It's fine! I'm fine! Just promise me one thing?" "W-what’s that?" "Promise me that even though I can't fly, or anything else that might happen. You'll always love me and you'll always accept my love." "I promise," Dash said, kissing Spitfire once more. "Anything else you want me to promise you?" "Oh! Also promise me that you'll make sure Rarity doesn't go overboard on our wedding dresses." "I promise that too," Dash assured, kissing Spitfire again. "Did he really just sleep though all that?" Spitfire motioned to Skylight. "Yeah, he came in last night around midnight mumbling something about rugby then fell asleep in that chair." She ended with a giggle. "Why, do you want to wake him up?" "Let's let him sleep." And at Spitfires wishes, Rainbow took a blanket and draped it over the sleeping colt, only to go fall asleep with another pony entirely. And they couldn't be happier. Author's Note And you all thought she was dead! You guys are so morbid, god... Anyways, expect another chapter soon! Thanks again Kiroberos (You don't get enough credit, and then it's going to be kinda awkward when you read this while proofing... What the buck?) -Theengineerbrony Just why?Spitfire lay at the edge of a cloud with her head on her hooves. Over the last week, the facade she put on each day as to not put more stress on Rainbow Dash slowly ebbed away at her. The trauma of losing her wings so suddenly slowly cracking her open like an egg. She just couldn't deal with it anymore. She couldn't work or fly with her lover. She felt so.... helpless. Needless to say, Spitfire’s mind wasn't in the best of conditions. So every day she would just sit out on the porch looking at the ground, only a leap away from ending her entire suffering painlessly. 'I have nothing left... Nothing at all,' she thought to herself. She doesn't love you.... 'What are you talking about?' Rainbow Dash? She doesn't love you; you can't fly. 'No! She does love me! she promised me.' No, she doesn't. 'Yes! Yes she does. I know it!' She needs someone who can keep up with her. You can't. 'She doesn't care about that kind of thing!' Yes she does and you know it. 'No! No, she doesn't. Now shut up!' The voice continued to mock her. Laughing at her pain of when Rainbow would break up with her. It was never ending; however one line was the last straw. I can't believe you fell in love with such a slut! 'NO! SHUT UP!' After that. Spitfire lost the internal battle. She couldn't deal with it anymore and with that thought, Spitfire let herself tumble off the cloud, slowly free falling to her death. Death.... such an easy escape from the real world. As she fell, for the first time in that last week, she knew that all the pain would soon be over. With the wind caressing her face and her mane whipping behind her, It was almost like she was flying. Spitfire actually was happy. (Oh snap! Get it, because she snapped.... Never mind.) A little farther away however, Rainbow Dash was less than happy about watching her wife to be plummeting off of a cloud, but this time.... she was going to catch her. She spread her wings and took flight, desperate to catch up with her falling wife. Gaining speed, she easily closed the gap between them and just before Spitfire hit the ground, Rainbow caught her. Unfortunately she was thrown off trajectory herself by the extra weight and crash into the ground with an unceremonious 'thump'. Rainbow got up seconds later and immediately regretted it, feeling a sharp pain in her left hoof. She prodded Spitfire with her other hoof, calling out, "Spitfire? Spitfire, wake up!" "Uhhh, am I dead?" Spitfire moaned. "No.... no you’re not dead. Why?" Dash asked, confusion showing on her face. "Because I just jumped off a cloud, duh!" Spitfire instantly bolted upright and put a hoof to her mouth. "You what?!?!?" Tears started to form in Rainbow’s eyes. "I'm so, so, so sorry! I don't know what I was thinking!" Spitfire tried apologizing. "Are you telling me you didn't know what you were thinking when you jumped off that cliff? 'Cause it came in loud and clear when you told me!" The anger was clear on Dash's face. "I know, I know, and I'm sorry!" Spitfire didn't even know what to apologize for anymore. "Sorry doesn't save your life, Spitfire!" Rainbow reprimanded her. "Please don't yell," Spitfire squeaked. "What!? Do you expect me to talk calmly after just seeing my wife jump of a cliff? I can't talk calmly!" Dash wasn't even close to being done yelling. "Then please try!" Spitfire pleaded. "No! No I'm not going to try and talk calmly!" Dash wouldn't accept. "Look! I'm fine; nothing happened! I'm safe" Spitfire tried to convince her. "Don't tell me your fine! You just tried to commit suicide!" Dash rebutted. "..." Spitfire had nothing to say. "Did you even think if I wanted you dead?" Rainbow asked, the tears forming again. "..." Spitfire just sat there awkwardly. "Did you ever think of what I would do?" Dash was now openly crying, "You could have DIED! That doesn't sound 'fine' to me, Spitfire." "Okay," Spitfire said, determination showing on her face. "Okay? What the buck is that supposed to mean, Spitfire?" Rainbow was still crying. "Well, do you want to know why I did it?" Spitfire asked, wincing a bit at the last comment. "Yes! By Celestia's beard why'd you do it?" Rainbow demanded, throwing her hooves up to make her point. "Because...." Spitfire started. "Because why?" Rainbow Dash interrupted her. "Because I thought you didn't love me anymore..." Spitfire finally said, lowering her head once more. "..." Rainbow Dash just shook her head. "You need someone to keep up with you and I can't do that...... No wings," Spitfire explained, looking at her own bare back. "You really think I'm that shallow?" Rainbow couldn't even express the feelings she had at the moment; she wanted to either strangle her, make love to her, or a mixture of both..... She ended up slapping her across the face. "Ow! What was that for?" Spitfire held a hoof to her cheek. "That was for jumping off a cliff and this..." Rainbow kissed Spitfire passionately before adding, "Is so that you know that I'll always love you. I'm here for you, Spitfire! You've been there for me countless times. You don't have to resort to suicide!" "So you still love me?" Spitfire asked hesitantly. "What? Saving your life twice still doesn't prove that?" Rainbow Dash made light of the situation. "No... It does," Spitfire concluded. "However, I don't think I could live if you died," And with that final note, the two kissed again. (And then nothing sexual happened.) Author's Note Hey there guys! Problems abound (bad puns too). Hope you all survived the three days it took me to update! Now I'm going to go to sleep! Final PreparationsThe sun rose up over the hills, giving its warmth and light to all those who enjoyed it, and unfortunately those who didn't as well. One of those who didn't was Rainbow Dash. Lying in bed hugging her soon to be wife, the sun was not a welcome sight. Slowly opening her eyes to the intruding sunlight, Spitfire woke up Rainbow Dash. "Hey, Rainbow, get up. We need to make sure everything’s ready for tomorrow." "Ehh, five more minutes," Dash mumbled, falling back asleep. "No, come on. I woke up early so you have to as well." "Ugh, Fine I'm up, I'm up." "Good, now come on." "Can't we just snuggle?" "Rainbow Dash, we’re about to get married. We can snuggle later..." "Fine... but there better be snuggles." However, Spitfire didn't hear that last part because she was already on her way out the door. "Come on. I'll make you some pancakes for breakfast." Dash immediately perked up at that statement and announced, "Pancakes? I'm in!" She hopped out of bed and trotted off after Spitfire. When Dash got downstairs, she saw Spitfire already going at it on the pancakes. "Wait... I thought you were making them?" "I was, and then I realized we still had some left over." "Oh... Ok then, as long as I get some." "You think I was just going to keep them to myself?" "Well I don't know! Your pancakes are so good; I would keep them to myself." "I'll take that as a compliment." "How do you make them anyways?" "There's a reason I don't let you put syrup on them." "And why’s that?" "I mix it in to the batter." "WHAT?!" "What?!? Did I do something wrong?" Spitfire asked, recovering from the shock. "No, you’re fine, I just can't believe I didn't think of that! It's brilliant!" "O-k then, well why don't you finish up and we can go check on things." "Oh yeah! Sure I'll finish up." And with that, Dash stuffed the rest of the pancakes in her mouth. "Why do I find you attractive?" "Why don't you ask my flank?" Rainbow Dash said, wiggling her rump and making Spitfire blush furiously. "I'll ask it later tonight," Spitfire said, making Dash blush as well. "Well why don't we go get these errands over so we can get to our plans?" Rainbow Dash wiggled her eyebrows, causing her to receive a playful nudge from Spitfire. "Come on Casanova, our plans can wait." "Fine, let’s just get this over with." And with that, they flew out the door and over to the Carousel Boutique. *** "Ah yes, your wedding dresses! They're coming along wonderfully my dears," the fashionistastated. "Oh Rarity, that's wonderful! May we see them?" Spitfire requested, nudging the pegasus next to her, who was staring off into space. "Wha? Oh! Yeah, can we see them?" "Well of course. Just let me go get them," Rarity agreed, pulling out two dresses from the back room with her magic. This literally made the two pegasi gasp. "R-Rarity, these are beautiful!" Spitfire said, gasping again afterwards. Spitfire’s dress looked much like Dash's dress from the gala but with flowing red and yellow instead of rainbows, along with a veil on top. Rainbow’s looked much like her own from the gala, along with the veil as well. "Yeah! Now how much do we owe you?" Rainbow Dash asked, a deadpan expression on her face. "Rainbow! You really had to ruin the moment?" "What?!? I just want to make sure we can afford our dresses!" "Oh Rainbow Dash, don't worry about it darling! For you, they're free." "Oh no, Rarity, we couldn't take these for free," Spitfire said, taking out her money. "No! I insist, as a wedding gift." "Well then, thank you Rarity. We'll see you at the wedding. Come on, Rainbow. Let’s go check on Pinkie Pie." "Really! Maybe she'll have samples!" "You just ate breakfast!" "And?" "Never mind." *** "I told you she'd have samples," Dash said, taking another one of the cupcakes and eating it. "Would you put that down!" "What? They're good." "Um.. Pinkie?" Spitfire tried to get her attention. "Yes, Spits?" "I really appreciate all the food, but we really need to head ou-wait.. Did you just call me Spits?" "Yeah! It's my new nickname for you!" "No offence Pinkie, but that's just plain awful." "I know! But your name isn't easy to use!" "Touché." "What?" "Never mind. So I take you're all set?" "Yeppers! I've got all the food ready and everything!" "Ok, well were going to go check on Twilight. See you at the wedding." "Ok, bye!" *** "Guys, I'm not sure if I understand this!" "Twilight, you'll be fine." "No! This marriage stuff is hard!" "Twi, you'll make a great pastor! All you have to do is get us married!" "But I have to memorize all kinds of stuff!" "Well... Think of it like a test." "What?" "A test; study for the test and remember all the answers," Rainbow said, elaborating. "Wow, I never thought of it that way..." "Yeah well.... Have fun with that?" "Ok guys, I will! Have fun!" "Bye, Twilight," they both said. *** "So you got the music all taken care of, Fluttershy?" "Yep, all the birdies have agreed to sing for you." "Oh.. Well that's very nice of them." "Would you like to hear a verse?" "Yes, Fluttershy, that would be very nice." As soon as she said that, all the birds started a whistle rendition of “Here Comes the Bride”. "Thank you very much, Fluttershy. That sounded wonderful!" "Oh, really, it was no problem." "We'll see you tomorrow, then?" "Yep, I look forward to it." Walking out of the cottage, Rainbow turned her head towards Spitfire and asked, "So how about those plans?" "Not yet! You need to go talk to AJ about her being your best 'mare' or 'stallion' or whatever." "Do I need to?" "Yes! Or someone isn't getting laid tonight." "Ohf, low blow Spitfire, low blow. Fine, I'll go talk to her." *** "Applejack! You home?" "Yeah, Ah’m home! What can Ah do you for ya, RD?" "Oh! Well um... I was wondering..." "Yes, RD?" "Well, I've known you for a long time, and I can kinda relate to you the most so..." "Sooo what, RD?" "Would you be my mare of honor?" "Well of course Ah will." AJ hugged Rainbow Dash. "Phew. Good to have that over with! Now if you'll excuse me, I have some 'plans' with my wife!" Author's Note Aren’t hiatuses fun? Sorry if there are any grammar mistakes on this one, guys. I put it right out because I wanted it out ASAP! I was in a really good mood before I wrote this, and then half way through I had to go chase my dog around the neighborhood and fight off an opossum that I thought was dead(It wasn't) with a stick. Also, I know this wasn't much longer but if you looked, I used a lot less speaker tags, making it beefier. New chapter soon! Now I'm going to sleep! Wedding BellsSpitfire awoke to the rising sun with a raging headache and a groan. Both due to an equally raging bachelor party the night before. Holding back her urge to vomit, she thought back to the night before, then immediately regretted it as her memories were filled with way too much alcohol and other events. "Rainbow... Rainbow, wake up. We’re getting married today," Spitfire said, yawning and poking her Rainbow Dash in the side. "Five more minutes," Rainbow moaned, rolling over and taking the covers with her. Spitfire pushed Dash off the bed were she landed with an unceremonious 'thump', "Come on, we don't have time to sleep in." "Eugh, fine, I'm up, I'm up! You didn't need to push me off the bed." "'bout time. Now come on, we need to go see Rarity." "Can't we eat first?" "If we got up twenty minutes ago, yeah we could have." "Pfft, twenty minutes ago....That’s so..... twenty minutes ago." Spitfire only stopped to dwell for a moment on what little logic Rainbow had included in that statement, before returning, "Yeah, okay, just get up and get ready. Ok?" Begrudgingly, Rainbow Dash got up off the floor and stated to comb her mane with a brush that barely got any use. She turned around while brushing only to see a shocked Spitfire. "What?" Rainbow asked, while developing a blush from already guessing what it was. "You're brushing your mane?" Spitfire asked, mouth still agape. "Well, yeah. I wanted to look nice for our wedding day..." Rainbow said sheepishly, an embarrassed look upon her face, "That is one of the nicest things you've ever said to me!" Spitfire said, planting a kiss on Rainbow's cheek. "That’s not good, is it? That that’s one of the nicest things I've said to you?" Dash asked, realizing how bad that sounded. "Generally no, that’s not a good sign," Spitfire admitted, sighing. "Ah well. Let’s get going. We need to make it to Rarity's and then the church on time." "But we still haven't eaten breakfast!" Rainbow whined. "We just talked about this," reminded Spitfire, trying to end the conversation. But when faced with Rainbow Dash's puppy eyes, she finely gave in, "Fine, go grab something quick..." "Did you pick up some more Captain Colt?" Rainbow interrupted. "Yeah, it's on the top shelf" Spitfire responded, quickly adding, "But be quick. We don't have much time!" "Yeah, yeah, just let me eat my cereal," Dash said, racing down the stairs. As Spitfire walked down the stairs five minutes later, she asked, "Rainbow? Are you ready to go yet?" "Almost!" Rainbow Dash slurped down the rest of her cereal, then added hastily, "Ok, I'm ready. Let’s go!" "Ok, just let me grab my saddlebags," Spitfire said. After making sure they were on tight, she opened the door. Rainbow walked out on to the porch and spread her wings. Hopping on her back, Spitfire confirmed, “Ok, let’s go!” Taking off from the porch, Rainbow rocketed towards the ground, only to pull up at the last minute and start towards the Carousel Boutique. “Could you not do that?” Spitfire asked, holding on even tighter. “Pfft, killjoy” Rainbow said, suddenly bursting in speed. ~One quick flight later~ “Hey Spitfire.... Spitfire! You can let go now,” Rainbow said, having to resort to gently sliding Spitfire off her back. “Rainbow, if you ever go that fast again while I’m on your back, I will never have sex with you again,” Spitfire said, shaking as she tried to make her way to the door. Rainbow immediately stood up straight at that threat, apologizing with, “Sorry! Won’t happen again!” “Yeah... Now come on. Help me get inside,” Spitfire requested, trying to walk up the steps while shaking. With a bit of help from Rainbow Dash, she got into the shop. “Welcome to the Carousal Boutique! How may I he... Oh, it’s you two!” Rarity said, greeting each with a hug, “Spitfire darling, what’s wrong? You’re shaking like a jackrabbit” “I just rode on Rainbow’s back all the way down here,” Spitfire explained, taking a moment to sit down and compose herself. “Well no wonder. Here, let me get you some tea,” Rarity offered, making her way into the kitchen. “No, no Rarity, it’s fine. Let’s just get our dresses on. The ceremony will be starting in less than two hours,” Spitfire said, standing up and shaking her head clear. “Oh don’t worry about it, I’m a unicorn remember?” Rarity reminded, gesturing towards her horn, while grabbing a cup of tea as well as the two dresses. “O-ok then. If you think you can do both, let’s just get Rainbow over here.” Spitfire turned around to see Dash playing with Opal, who was playing happily back. “What? Now Rainbow dear, how did you get Opal to behave?” Rarity asked, wonder why in Equestria Opal wasn’t clawing Rainbow Dash’s face off. “I dunno. I just came over to her and we started hitting each other,” Rainbow explained, receiving a slap from Opal. “Charming,” Spitfire said, her deadpan expresion giving away her real emotions, “Now come over here. We need to get dressed.” “Uh yes, about that. Rainbow, I’m going to need you to go into the other room while I dress Spitfire,” Rarity said, opening another door with her magic. “Why, Rarity? It’s not like it’s the first time I’ve seen her naked. I mean, aside from that, we don’t normally where clothes. Just the other night we wer-” “No! I mean, no darling. That’s not what I meant. They say it’s bad luck to see the bride in her wedding dress before the ceremony,” Rarity explained, trying to regain her composure. “Oh right! Well I’ll go get on my tux!” Rainbow said, trotting into the other room, the door closing behind her. “She’s wearing a tux?” Spitfire asked the now working Rarity. “Yes, she refused to wear a dress,” Rarity said, not taking her eyes off her work. “Huh, well I should’ve known” Spitfire said, a smile playing across her face. ~One and a half hours later~ Rainbow Dash stood next to the altar, her eyes darting back and forth. Next to her at the altar was Twilight, quickly going over the ceremony checklist one more time. Behind her was Applejack, who was messing with her bow-tie, trying to get it to stay in one place. Nervously, Dash fluttered her wings, glancing around and trying to keep her mind off of what could go wrong. Before she could think of her next scenario however, the music started. The good old classic Here Comes The Bride. Looking back at Applejack, it seemed that she had resolved her problems with the bow-tie and now offered a supporting smile. “You’ll be fine” Applejack assured. “Yeah, but what if I don’t remember my vows or I forget m-” Rainbow expressed her worry, only to be shushed once again. “Would I lie to you if I thought you were going to forget anything?” Applejack smiled once again, pointing a hoof towards Spitfire, who was walking down the aisle. Rainbow was breathless as she looked at Spitfire. Walking down the aisle, she had a dress that covered her entire body. She look like a flame. The fabric rippling her around her body, her natural color as well as her hair, made her looks as though she were actually on fire. Stopping at the altar up front, she gave Rainbow a smile with a blush. “Y-you look great,” Rainbow Dash stammered, her mouth still agape. “Thanks. Not too bad yourself,” Spitfire complimented. Both of them turned their attention to the front however when Twilight cleared her throat, signaling that the wedding was about to start. “Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today to witness the bonding of these two ponies in holy matrimony,” Twilight spoke, pointing a hoof at Rainbow and one at Spitfire, then continued, “Before we start, does anypony have any reason why these two should not be married?” When nopony raised their hoof Twilight continued, “The couple will now read their vow’s” Spitfire was the first to step forward, her vow’s memorized in her head. “Rainbow Dash, from the first time I laid eyes on you, I felt a connection. I gave up my dream to be with you, and almost my life because I thought I couldn’t make you happy. And I would do it all again just to see you happy and to be with you myself. Even though sometimes you’re childish, annoying or just plain rude, I wouldn’t have you any other way and I love you with all my heart,” Spitfire spoke her vows with confidence, ending with a round of applause and a loving look from Rainbow. Stepping back she allowed Rainbow to step forward and say vows of her own, “Spitfire, ever since you first came to Ponyville, I feel as though I loved you without even knowing. When you bought me ice cream, or helped me through the grieving of my parents at a time when nopony else could. You’ve always been by my side through thick and thin, and I wouldn’t have you anywhere else,” Rainbow ended, with another round of applause from the audience. Twilight then started speaking again, “Now that the couples have said their vows, we shall start the ceremony. Spitfire, do you take this mare to be your lawfully wedded wife, through sickness and in health, through rich and poor?” Twilight asked. “I do,” Spitfire said, her expression firm and steady, but her voice almost cracking. “And do you, Rainbow Dash, take this mare to be your lawfully wedded wife, through good and through bad, through life and death?” Twilight asked once more. “I do.” Rainbows face was also firm and steady. “With the power invested in me, I hereby pronounce you wife and wife,” Twilight spoke over the cheers, finishing with, “You may now kiss the bride”. And with that, Rainbow Dash leapt forward and pulled Spitfire into a deep and passionate kiss, which only drew more cheers out of the audience. After pulling back from the kiss, Rainbow Dash looked into Spitfires eyes once more, and said, “I’m really glad you’re mine, Spitfire. I don’t think I could stand you being with anypony else.” “I’m glad too, Dash. I don’t think I could stand being with anypony else,” Spitfire agreed, once more locking Rainbow in a kiss. ~At the after party~ Spitfire and Rainbow Dash hung around a table at the reception, receiving multiple congratulations. Cake had been served, courtesy of Pinkie Pie, and speeches had been given. After multiple ponies had come up to the two to congratulate them, Twilight came up with three colts following close behind. “Well who would these three be, Twilight?” Rainbow asked, scanning them for anything she remembered. Twilight gestured to Rainbow, and the first colt stepped forward. “I’m Skylight, and this is my husband Skyhigh. I’m the Paramedic that took Spitfire to the hospital, I just wanted to stay there because...Well, I knows what it’s like to lose a-” At this time tears started leaking from his eyes and Skyhigh put a comforting wing around him, “I know what it’s like to lose a loved one, and I didn’t want that to happen to you either.” “Well it’s nice to meet you Skylight, and who would this colt be?” Spitfire questioned, her head turning towards the pure black colt, “Ah, Nice to meet you, Names Arcane. Magical inventor extraordinaire. An earth pony and a pegasus, I didn’t know you could do things like that” Arcane said, looking at them curiously. “Well actually I’m a pegasus,” Spitfire corrected him, receiving some ‘Orly Now’ looks in return, before explaining, “I lost my wings in an accident.” “Ah, sorry to hear about that. I can’t imag- Wait! Did you say you used to be a pegasus?” Arcane said, looking extremely excited. “Um, yes I did?” Spitfire said, wondering what he had in plan for her. “Oh wonderful! Now listen hear, I’ve developed a set of artificial wings! They're called the D.A.R.T. wing. It stands for Dyn- You know what, never mind what it stands for. They tap into the nervous system and allow you to control them and fly just like normal wings!” Arcane was just getting more and more excited. “Ok, and have you ever done this surgery before? Have you tested these wings?” Spitfire asked, not so sure about these ‘wings’. “What? No its extremely dangerous! You could die if it isn’t done right. Well that and I haven’t found anypony stupi- I mean brave enough to try it!” Arcane corrected himself. “Sorry, I’m gunna have to pass. I just don’t know if I should risk my life to get wings, when I can function fine without them” Spitfire said, apologizing once more. “Come on” Skylight said, to a moping Arcane. “I’ll buy you a drink. Congratulations again you guys!” He quickly added at the end, leading Arcane to the bar. However, now that those three had left along with Twilight, a much more suspicious looking colt was making his way towards them. When offered a glass of champagne, he lifted it with his magic, took a sip and them spit it into the glass. Setting the glass down, he started to make his way over to Spitfire and Rainbow Dash. “Are you guys the ones just married?” He asked them. “Yeah, why?” Rainbow asked, a little on the defensive side. “Inkstain’s the name and, Certified Canterlot Chroniclers the game. I’d like to hear the story of how you met, what with an Element of Harmony getting married and the such.” Inkstain took a notepad out of his saddle bag and sat down in front of them. “Well,” started Spitfire, “It all started when...” She then began the long process of telling him their story. Author's Note I really hope you didn’t expect me to tell you guys the story. You’ve been reading it right here! Anyways, sorry about the delay on this chapter; hopefully the 2000+ words makes up for that. New chapter in about 3 days? Expect at least another three chapters now! -Theengineerbrony Wings AnewSpitfire woke up next to her new wife; the sunlight streaming through the window highlighting all the little particles of dust floating around the room. It had been three days since she had married Rainbow, and yet it seemed like they had been together for a lot longer amount of time. She thought back to their relatively short honey moon. They had gone to Cloudsdale, Spitfire riding on Dash’s back, and had run into Soarin’ while they were there. He had yet to hear about Spitfire’s accident or her marriage, and insisted on buying them dinner. For whatever reason during dinner, the topic of children came up, alongside the topic of Artificial Insemination. After such an.... uh..... interesting talk, they split their separate ways and headed back to the hotel where a much more active night awaited. But that was then and this was now (and that over there was a clock), and she had to wake up her wife for she had to work. “Rainbow, hey Rainbow, you’ve got to go to work,” Spitfire said, nudging her wife. “Wha? Oh, yeah, yeah I’m up,” Dash returned, yawning afterwards. “Good, now come on.” Spitfire got out of the bed and walked into the bathroom, checking behind her as she did, she noticed that Rainbow was still in bed, and had fallen back asleep. Walking back into the bedroom she attempted to wake up Rainbow Dash again. “Rainbow Dash, get up! You have to get to work!” Spitfire told her again. “Can’t you take my shift?” Rainbow asked, instantly regretting her statement. Spitfire started to respond but lost her breath before she could talk. “Oh my gosh, Spitfire, I’m so sorry I didn’t mean it, it just slipped out of my mouth!” Rainbow said, leaping up from the bed to wrap her wife in an embrace. Spitfire however just looked back at her with a blank back and swallowed painfully. “No Rainbow, it’s fine,” she assured, kissing her wife before continuing, “I know you didn’t mean it. Why don’t you go get ready for work? I’ll be down in a bit.” Rainbow hesitated before nodding in agreement, and heading down the stairs. Spitfire however stayed upstairs with her flank flat to the floor. Lifting her head up to the mirror, she looked at her self and cringed. Her face was stained with tears and every time she looked at her back, she cringed even more. Remembering what that stallion at the wedding said, “It’s the D.A.R.T. Wing.” She thought back to Rainbow, and how she had to work twice as many shifts, because Spitfire couldn’t fly. She tried to remember if he had told her his name..... “Arcane!” She shouted, suddenly remembering. Now she had to figure out if he had told her where he lived. She couldn’t remember anything of the sort so she decided to go see if Twilight knew anything. Walking out of the room and down the stairs, she was about to jump off the front porch when she remembered that she didn’t have wings; she couldn’t fly off the porch like she used to. Rainbow wasn’t here either so she couldn’t get a ride down. Sighing in defeat, she closed the door and headed to the kitchen to make Rainbow’s favorite meal. Even though she hadn’t made her decision, she needed her to be in a good mood, even to just discuss the topic with her. ~Many Hours Later~ Spitfire was in the kitchen just finishing up dinner when she heard the door open. She knew who it was when a rainbow haired mane (attached to a head) poke its way through the door way. “Hey there Spitfire. So.... are you still mad?” Rainbow asked tentatively. “What do you mean still mad? I told you I wasn’t mad about it!” Spitfire said, bringing Rainbow into a hug. “Well, yeah, I know you told me you’re not mad, but I still feel kinda bad about bringing that up,” Dash said, nuzzling Spitfire’s neck, while in the hug. “I’ve already told you, and I’m not going to spend any more time on the subject. Now go wash your hooves. I made spaghetti,” Spitfire finished, gently pushing Rainbow towards the bathroom. “Yeah, yeah, I’m going,” Dash said, trotting over to the bathroom. Meanwhile. Spitfire tried to think of a way to bring up the subject of her wings, once again. (Even though she said she wouldn’t.) However she couldn’t think of any way, and by the time she was on to something, Rainbow was already walking back to the kitchen, and Spitfire didn’t have any time to expand on the idea. “So Rainbow, shall we eat?” Spitfire offered, still trying to think of a way. “Sure! I’m starving,” Rainbow agreed, digging in to the plate of food in front of her. Even after minutes of thought, Spitfire still couldn’t think of a way to bring up the subject and instead resorted to awkward silence, which didn’t work very well. Rainbow tried several times to make small talk but all were shot down by Spitfire. “So Rainbow-” Spitfire started, breaking the silence that was killing them both, “Do you remember that colt from the wedding?” “Which one? The gay one?” Rainbow Dash asked, scrunching up her face in what looked to be disgust. “Rainbow!” Spitfire said, shocked that Rainbow had said something so mean, “You’re gay too!” “Yeah, so? I didn’t say that being gay was bad,” Dash pointed out, confused at Spitfires outburst. “But your fa- Never mind, sorry that I yelled. But no, not him, the black one with the orange eyes.” Spitfire calmed herself. “Yellow eyes, Spitfire,” Rainbow corrected her. “What?” Spitfire asked, not sure what they were talking about. “Yellow eyes; he had yellow eyes,” Dash explained herself on more time. “Oh, ok then. The one with yellow eyes,” Spitfire conceded, not really sure why it mattered (It didn’t). “Yeah, I remember him. What about him?” Rainbow asked, forgetting the last minute or so of their conversation. “Well remember how he offered me wings?” Spitfire asked, trying to be gentle. “Yeah..” Rainbow was starting to get worried. “Well that’s what I wanted to talk to you about” Spitfire said, hoping Dash wouldn’t freak out. Rainbow Dash groaned, “Spitfire, I thought we talked about this. It’s too dangerous.... I can’t lose you, Spitfire.” “Well, I’m not saying I want to. I just wanted to talk to you about it. I also thought we could go talk to Twilight about it,” Spitfire explained, reaching across the table and placing her hoof on Rainbows. Rainbow Dash looked at her with uncertainty, but was broken when Spitfire gave her the puppy dog eyes and asked, “Please?” “Fine. But I don’t want to hear any more about it tonight, let’s talk about something happier,” Rainbow said, starting to eat once again. “So we’ll see her tomorrow?” Spitfire asked, trying to push the subject a little more. “Yes, tomorrow,” Dash answered plainly, determined not to talk about it anymore. ~The Next Morning~ After eating breakfast, and having quite the awkward conversation, the small family of two set out to find Twilight, both to gather what information they could on the stallion and get Twi’s opinion. Arriving at the library-converted-tree-house, they knocked on the door, only to have it answered by a small purple and green dragon. “Rarity how nice to se... Oh. It’s you two,” Spike said, disappointed that the pony of his affections hadn’t arrived yet. “Twilight! It’s Spitfire and Rainbow Dash!” he yelled to Twilight. “Could you send them upstairs? I’m kinda busy!” Twilight yelled back from upstairs. “You heard her,” he grumbled, retreating back into the kitchen. Exchanging a quick look with each other, Spitfire and Rainbow entered the library and started to make their way upstairs, of course stopping momentarily for Dash to put back the copy of Daring Do she had and grab the next one. Grinning sheepishly, Rainbow caught up with Spitfire on the stairs and they continued their walk to Twilight’s bedroom. Opening the door and walking in, they saw Twilight surrounded with piles of books, her notes thrown all over the room. “Twi? You ok?” Rainbow Dash asked, looking around the pile of books in front of her. “Wha? Oh yeah, I’m fine. Just doing a bit of studying!” Twilight explained, lifting her head up momentarily to speak to them. “A bit of studying, Twi?” Spitfire asked, raising her eyebrow. “Well yeah! I’ve been looking into that time traveling spell I discovered!” Twilight exclaimed, her face still buried in the book. Suddenly there was a noise that sounded a lot like a hungry tummy. “Twilight, have you even eaten lunch?” Rainbow asked her, trying to move the books out of her way. “Well, I mean.....Spike brought me some crackers!” Twilight tried to explain, knowing the excuse wouldn’t fool them. “You, lunch, now,” Spitfire ordered, not breaking her gaze on Twilight. “But.....fine,” Twi consented, giving in to the rumbling of her stomach. “Good, there’s some other things we wanted to talk to you about anyways,” Spitfire said, opening the door to the stairs, and shooing Twilight down them. After making some lunch for the three of them, Spitfire sat down next to Twilight and began to speak. “So Twilight, me and Rainbow have been thinking.” Rainbow coughed at this. “Ok sorry, I’ve been thinking about that colt at the wedding who offered to build me some wings.” “Wait, what? You’re joking right?” Twilight asked, choking on her sandwich a bit. “Um, no, I don’t believe I am,” Spitfire corrected, her expression still quite serious. “Huh, now listen, as highly as I think of Arcane, I don’t think anypony's ever been crazy enough to actually go through with one of his plans.” Spitfire was about to say something more but Twilight shushed her and began to speak again, “And yes, I said crazy. It may not be the most polite of terms, but what he’s trying to do is extremely dangerous.” “So I guess that answers the second part of our question, huh?” Dash said aside to Spitfire. “Now just wait a minute! What was the second part of your question?” Twilight asked, her curiosity peaked. “We were going to ask you if you thought that Spitfire should try the operation,” Rainbow said, looking over at Spitfire in the process. “Well, I think that if you really want to try, and you think that you have a chance of flying, then sure,” Twilight said, taking another bite of her sandwich. “Wait, what? I thought you just said that they had to be crazy!” Spitfire asked, surprised at Twilights change of heart. “Well they would, but if you’re crazy enough to try, then who am I to deny you?” Twilight started, “I trust Arcane, and I trust you Spitfire. If you think you’ll be safe, and you’ve talked it over with Rainbow then go ahead. I have complete faith in both of you.” “Well in that case, Twilight, give me his address” Spitfire requested, as Twilight got up from the table to go get said address. “Wait Spitfire, we haven't even ta-” Rainbow tried to stop Spitfires extremely rash decision but was silenced by her, “No Rainbow, I trust Arcane, and I hope you do too. Just trust me on this one ok?” Spitfire looked at her wife with pleading eyes that Dash couldn’t help but give into. “Fine, I trust you,” Rainbow said, kissing Spitfire on the lips. Not satisfied with staying down stairs and waiting, the two decided to go get some more information about Arcane. Walking upstairs they heard quite a bit of shuffling and even more when they opened the door. Twilight was searching through multiple books trying to find an address. “Hey Twi? We just have one more question,” Spitfire asked, finding her once again. “And what’s that?” Twilight asked, her face lighting up as she found the address, and then proceeded to copy it onto a separate piece of paper. “Do you have any more information on Arcane?” Spitfire asked, tilting her head slightly. Rainbow however was absorbed in reading the next Daring Do book that she had checked out on the way in. “Hmm, well I could tell you what he told me in college. But beyond that, I don’t have much information on his personal life,” Twilight told them, giving the address on paper to Spitfire, “But from what I know he was born in Hoofwich, and at 16 he came to CSFTG tha-” “CSFTG?” Spitfire asked, not understanding the acronym. “Canterlot School for the Gifted” Twilight explained, “That’s where I met him, as well as Skylight. But we didn’t really become friends until around one or two years ago. But he’s still one of the most brilliant minds I’ve ever met. Did you know he can combine machines and magic together?” “Twilight I’m going to stop you right there,” Spitfire said, not wanting wait through an entire lecture. “I think well be on our way, bye Twilight” Spitfire said, walking out the door and nudging Rainbow Dash to get up. Walking out the door, Spitfire turned to address Rainbow Dash, “Ok, I’m going to go to the train station and get us some tickets, you go home and lock up. Ok?” When Rainbow nodded in agreement, Spitfire gave her a peck on the cheek and started towards the Train Station. -A Short While Later- Spitfire was sitting (or perhaps lying? I don’t know) at the Train Station waiting for Dash, hearing her name being called behind her she turned and saw Rainbow coming up the steps onto the waiting platform. “Hey Spitfire! I locked up the house and left Tank with Fluttershy,” Rainbow said, handing her the key to the house. “Oh good; I completely forgot about Tank. Thanks for dropping him off,” Spitfire said, remembering the tortoise. “Yeah! It’s almost like the writer forgot to add him in the last few chapters!” said a voice that almost sounded like it was coming from above the two. And looking up, it was confirmed. There was Pinkie Pie just standing on the ceiling. “Pinkie? How are you standing up there? And what writer are you talking about?” Spitfire asked. Dash’s mouth was still dropped so she couldn’t talk. “What? Oh suction cup shoes! See? And forget about the writer. I forgot I wasn’t supposed to talk about that.” Pinkie showed them her suction shoes, “Sorry Mr. Writer!” she apologized, in a seemingly random direction. “Bu-Wha? Never mind. Pinkie, you’re so random,” Rainbow Dash said, shaking off Pinkies actions as though they were nothing. “So? Where are you two headed?” Pinkie asked them, dropping from the ceiling. “Oh, we’re off to Canterlot to see that ‘Arcane’ stallion,” Rainbow explained, as Spitfire removed her tickets from the saddle bag on her back. “Oh him! He’s superduperreallyreallyawesomely Smart! And you know what they say about Stallions with big minds..” Pinkies said, both making up a word and waggling her eyebrows in one go, “They have big coc-” “Pinkie!” Spitfire exclaimed, hushing the pony. “Oh yeah! I forgot you’re married, and to a mare at that... Maybe I’ll pay him a visit!” Pinkie said, beginning to hop away. “Pinkie, you’re in a relationship with Twilight...” Rainbow said, giving her a suspicious look. “Oh right! Shoot, well the writer... I mean I didn’t think that out, huh?” Pinkie said, scratching her head, but her face soon lit up with a new idea, “I know! I’ll go tell Applejack! She’s still straight right?” “What do you mean ‘still’ Pinkie?” Spitfire asked her, giving a quizzical look as well. “Well you never know with these writers! Did you know he still hasn’t fixed that plot hole in chapter 15?” Pinkie asked, somehow managing to speak numbers? “Wha-I don’t eve- You know what? I don’t even want to know!” Rainbow said, as their train pulled into the station, “Well this is our train, come on Spitfire. Bye Pinkie,” Rainbow waved good bye as she walked over to the train. “Yeah, bye Pink-” Spitfire tried to say goodbye to Pinkie but she was gone when she look back. Deciding not to dwell on the fact that she had disappeared into thin air, Spitfire ran over to the train and hopped aboard. When she got onto the train, she walked down the aisle until she found Rainbow posed seductively on one of the train beds. “Oh come on Dash, were on a train. We’re really not going to do that right now!” Spitfire said, playfully shoving Rainbow Dash further on to the bed, “Now move over, I want to get some sleep in before we get there”. When the two of them woke, the air smelt of smoke and the streets sounded of bustling ponies. “Ah, the sights and smells of Canterlot! Eh Rainbow, aren't they great?” Spitfire said, taking in a large breath through her snout. “Yeah, Wonderful. Now come on, let’s go see that Arcane,” Rainbow said, moving along quite quickly. “Hey! Wait up!” Spitfire said, seeing that Rainbow Dash was already moving along. It was about an hour of walking and asking random ponies for directions, some of which were not very helpful, before they found the address of Arcane’s extremely large house. Or dome, rather. Walking up to the door, they found that it was open, and walked right inside. They walked calmly through the large hall that was the main room, looking at strange doors labeled in languages that neither of them could understand, that is until they heard a deafening explosion, and an annoyed voice soon after, “For god’s sake, why can’t I get this right?! Breach, set bolt 25,467 five centimeters to the right this time. I’ll be back in half an hour” Taking off his earmuffs, Arcane turned around to see the two mares standing there with their mouths open. “Wha-How did you get in? Sheesh, can’t a colt have an Augmented Reality Explosion in privacy anymore? Seriously what has the world come to?!” Arcane ranted, while walking over to them. “Anyways, sorry about that. Name’s Arcane Data. Inventor extraordin-” “Yeah we know, we met you at our wedding,” Dash interrupted him. “Oh yeah! You’re that pegasus that married an earth pony, right?” Arcane said, floating an Apple over to himself. “No I’m a pegas- How are you doing that?” Spitfire asked, one again staring open mouthed at the floating apple. “What this? Oh, it’s nothing it’s just my B.R.E.A.C.H. console. It’s like a unicorn’s horn in the sense that it allows me to levitate objects. But it also accepts voice commands and connects directly to the computer of my house,” he said, briefly explaining the system. “Now what can I do for you?” “Yeah, well I’m the one you talked to about the Wings?” Spitfire told him, trying to spark his memory. “Wings, wings, wings. Ah! Yes, you’re Pitfire, correct?” he asked, slightly butchering her name before adding, “And that’s your wife, Rainbow Blitz?” “My name is Spitfire and that’s my wife, Rainbow Dash” Spitfire said, correcting the names he mispronounced. “Ah right, so sorry. So you’re the one I recommended the D.A.R.T. Wings to?” He asked, trying to remember the exact conversation. “Yep. I came today to tell you that I’ve thought it a lot and I want to get them,” Spitfire replied, taking in a large breath. “Well what in Equestria could have compelled you to change your mind so quickly?” He asked. “I mean what could make you want to try something so dangerous that it could end your life?” “Well.... Rainbow's been flying a lot lately. I really want to fly with her. It’s my life, and I can’t live without it. Long story short, I really love the mare behind me and flying is one of the ways we connect, I guess. I don’t really know how to explain it,” Spitfire confessed, looking slightly sheepish. “So you’re risking your life to fly with her. Because you love her. You would risk your life because you love her?” Arcane wasn’t really sure what to think of this. “Yeah..... I guess so.” There was a bit of an awkward silence after Spitfire said this, as Arcane digested the information. “Hey... Arcane you ok?” Rainbow Dash asked, almost sounding as though she cared. “Wha? Oh-Yeah, totally fine. Why Wouldn’t I be? Wow I’ve know you for five minutes and you already asked questions! Gosh so pushy,” Arcane said, forcing a quick recovery. “Anyways I need to sign the waiver saying that I’m not responsible for any injuries that happen, blah blah blah ect.” He gave Spitfire the waiver and added, “Now sign here, here, here and initial here.” Spitfire followed each command signing the paper in multiple places. “Now why am I signing a waiver?” Spitfire asked, after she had finished signing everything. “That way you can’t sue me,” Arcane said, rather bluntly at that. “Anyways, I’m going to need a few samples to make sure the wings are compatible with your body and your cells don’t try to kill the wings.” “Ok, what kind of samples?” Rainbow asked, speaking up for the first time in a while. “Oh calm down. I just need a skin sample, blood sample, and a hair sample” Arcane took each one respectively. All followed by either a yelp or an ‘ouch’ from Spitfire. “Why do you need a sample of my hair?” Spitfire asked him. “No reason. Now if you’ll please step into the chamber onto your left..... I need to go find those wings.” Arcane left the room, going to find the wings he built some time ago. “So you’re sure you’re ok with this? This is your last chance to back out,” Dash asked Spitfire, trying once more to convince her to stop. “Yes Dash, I’m sure. I really want to do this. I really do,” Spitfire said, giving a short but passionate kiss to Rainbow Dash, before Arcane walked back into the room. “Ok, well I found the wings. They just nee- Oh come on! Will you two cut it out with the ‘lovey dovey’ stuff for a second? Now you, yellow pony. Get in the room. We have an operation to do.” Arcane and Spitfire entered the room, leaving Rainbow Dash behind. When Arcane and Spitfire entered the room, he motioned with his hoof towards a table in the center of the room, “You can lie down on that. I’ll be back in a second. I need to prep some equipment in the next room,” Arcane left the room as Spitfire laid back on the table. When Arcane came back in, he saw that Spitfire was on her back showing off some more, volatile areas, “What are you doing?! Lie down on our stomach. Goodness, I don’t need the whole show.” This comment made Spitfire blush furiously and quickly get on her stomach. “Oh.... Um sorry?” Spitfire offered. “Please, don’t be, you flatter me.” Spitfire rolled her eyes at that. “No.. Seriously don’t. I hate being flattered,” Arcane said, giving her a completely serious look. “Oh... Well how does the operation work?” Spitfire asked, desperate for a change of subject. Happy for a change of subject as well, Arcane began to speak, “Well, you fall asleep. Then while you’re asleep I put the wings on your back and start wiring nerves. When you awake, it will feel like you have wings just like you did before. Hopefully,” Arcane added that last part quietly hoping that Spitfire wouldn’t hear him. But as luck would have it she heard him anyways. “What do you mean ‘Hopefully’?” She asked. “Well, I mean I’ve never done this procedure before so I’m not really sure how well it’s going to work,” Arcane confessed, looking in the opposite direction, “So.... Here take these pills” He gave her a couple pills and a glass of water. After she swallowed them, Arcane looked at her expectantly. “Why are you looking at me like that?” Spitfire asked. “The pills effects are supposed to be qui-” Spitfire didn’t hear the last part of his sentence because she passed out cold on the table. “Oh...Well that went better than expected” Arcane said, “Thief?” He called for his pet parasprite. A small black parasprite came flying through the small hole in the door and over to Arcane. “Ah yes there you are. Go over and throw that switch will you?” Arcane took the wings and placed them on Spitfires back. He had a lot of work ahead of him. After about two hours, the room smelt of burnt flesh and lingering electrical current. Arcane was standing at one end of the room, washing his hooves and his face. He made a mental note to buy some more coffee later. Hearing a rustling and a small moan behind him, he turned around to see Spitfire waking up. “Ah, so sleeping beauty is finally awake.” “Wha-Did the operation work?” Spitfire’s eyes quickly perked right up. “Look for yourself.” Arcane motioned to the mirror on the far side of the room. Spitfire quickly trotted over to the mirror a squealed in delight. She tried flexing her wings, but the just shot straight out and in the process, knocked over a beaker of two. “Yeah.... You might need to practice with those a bit more. Preferably somewhere else.” Spitfire ran out the door into the lobby, where Rainbow Dash was sleeping on a couch in the middle of the room. “Dash? Rainbow Dash, wake up!” Spitfire said, trying to rouse the pegasus from her sleep. “Wha? Spitfire, you have wings!” Rainbow Dash shot up and embraced the yellow pegasus. “Arcane, I just want to thank you. So, so much. You gave me back the one thing that made my life worthwhile. Flying with the mare I love. Thank you so much” And with that, Spitfire and Rainbow Dash trotted out the door and flew out into the sun (Well Rainbow was flying, Spitfire was still learning a bit), leaving Arcane to ponder in his thoughts, alone. Author's Note And a perfect fairytale ending to the chapter! Sorry for the wait once again! ;A; I have a life and it makes me get off the internets.... Oh! And on a slightly unrelated note, Long chapters are long... Yeah. Oh and I’d like to thank Kiroberos for taking time out of his busy schedule to proof my chapter (I’m guessing it’s busy?) ShowoffSpitfire tore through the air, the sun glinting off her silver metal wings. Rainbow followed right behind her, making sure not to get too close so she didn’t get hit. “How do they feel?” She asked, yelling over the wind. “They feel pretty good! A little different, but it’s like learning to fly aga-” Spitfire couldn’t finish that sentence because at that moment she took a swooping dive by accident, before swooping back up with a sheepish smile. “It’s like learning to fly again,” she finished, biting her lower lip as she tried to correct her altitude. Rainbow shook her head and chuckled at the act. “Why don’t we learn to fly over to the train station and get back home?” Dash asked, angling her wings towards the ground, with Spitfire trying to follow suit. Rainbow landed quite easily, while Spitfire crashed into the ground with an audible ‘thump’. “You ok Spitfire?” Rainbow looked concerned. “Let’s just say, I’m glad were taking the train,” Spitfire said, stumbling a bit while getting up. “Yeah, well why don’t you go sit down and I’ll go get the train tickets.” Rainbow Dash led Spitfire over to a bench and sat her down. Afterwards, she went to get tickets for the next train to Ponyville. Sitting down on the bench, Spitfire tried flexing her new wings. She was surprised by how much she remembered from flying. Even if it wasn’t much, it was more then she had expected. Granted she had crashed a couple times on the way here, but she had still flown. Looking up from the ground she realized she was getting quite a few weird looks from most of the ponies around her. It wasn’t every day you saw the ex-captain of the Wonderbolts sitting on a bench at the train station with metal wings on her back which only gave all the more reason to stare. Spitfire, on the contrary, was not a fan of being stared at and silently wished for her to hurry up. All she wanted to do was to go home and, well yes show everypony her new wings, but really just sleep. She hadn’t slept in quite some time and even though she ‘slept’ through the operation she woke up feeling more tired than before. The whole event was really inconvenient to be honest. While she was having these thoughts of sleep, she looked back up to see Rainbow Dash walking towards her. “Hey Spitfire, I got the tickets!” Rainbow Dash said, through clenched teeth. “Finely, I just need to go home and sleep,” Spitfire said, taking one of the tickets for herself. As she took the ticket the train just so happened to pull up into the station and brake with a large hiss. “Nine o’ clock run to Ponyville. All aboard!” the conductor yelled, leaning out of the engine. “Well here’s our train.” Rainbow trotted over to the train and gave the conductor her ticket, with Spitfire following suit. Afterwards, they both went back to the sleeping car. And with Dash in Spitfire’s hooves, immediately fell asleep. An hour later, which only seemed like a few minutes to the two, was all it took for the train to chug down the tracks to Ponyville. Stopping at the train station with a small jerk was all it took to wake them up and throw one off the bed. Spitfire yawned, and asked, “Rainbow? Why are you on the floor?” She looked over the side of the bed. “The bed got too crowded so I went down to the floor,” Dash said, dripping with sarcasm. “Next time you can just ask me to scoot over,” Spitfire said, still half asleep, contrary to Rainbow, because getting thrown on the floor wakes you up rather quickly. “Yeah ok, I’ll remember that next time" However Dash didn't look amused. "Anyways you should get up. We need to get off the train before it leaves for Canterlot,” Rainbow Dash said, pulling herself up off the floor. “Ok, let’s go then,” Spitfire said, yawning once more as she got up off the bed. Forgetting to put her wings back at her side, she was stopped abruptly at the door. Doors simply weren’t big enough to fit her wings, and they reminded her of that. “Whoops, I guess it’s gonna take longer than I thought to get used to these,” she grunted as she tried to pull her wings in. With a satisfactory snap, they folded in on her sides and easily made it through the door. “So Spitfire, what do you say we go grab some lunch? I’ll go tell Twi and see if she can get the others to come. How does that sound?” Rainbow asked, stretching her wings from the long train ride. The thing about “Sounds great.” Spitfire kissed her on the nose. “I’m just going to quickly check on the house and then I’ll be right down.” “Ok, see you later.” Dash took off into the sky in the direction of the large tree in the center of town. Spitfire took off in about the opposite direction and headed towards the house she shared with Rainbow. -A Short While Later- Dash flew over to Sugarcube corner, with Spitfire at her side as so she could be caught if needed. They had met at the house and had decided to fly over together. But before they could conjure up and conversation they were already in sights of Sugarcube Corner and quickly landed to meet the rest of the group. "Now what in tarnation are those doohickies on your back?" Applejack asked before anyone could even say 'hi'. Rarity shot a glance at Applejack "While I would have preferred a simple 'Hello'" She turned back to Spitfire "I do have to admit that I have the same question" "Yeah What are they?" Pinkie asked, just arriving with the food. Twilight simply gave them a knowing look, and Fluttershy not wanting to speak simply turned her head to look at the two. "You guys really do just jump straight to the question don't you?" Spitfire asked, slightly amused. They all gave her faces that while held traces of shame, were interested none the less. After finishing her story she looked at the five of them for some form of response however Twilight was the first to speak, "Well, even though you went agains't all my warnings and got wings made of metal in a most likely less then sanitary operating room with an operation that could of killed you....I really am happy for you. Congratulations of your.....wings" "Oh...well...I hope no one was hurt...." Fluttershy spoke up, her concern overpowering her fear. "Nah don't worry about it Flutters, I was there to see the whole thing" Dash said, flying out of her chair and posing. "You were asleep" Spitfire said, succeeding at taking Rainbow Dash down a notch. "Well.....All the same thanks for your concern. But, no one got hurt" Dash said, sitting down in her seat. This earned a shy smile from fluttershy who whispered, "Your welcome" Rarity was the next to speak, "Well, even though I'm very....Happy that you have wings they simple clash horribly with your coat. You must come by the boutique later so I can fix this.....monstrosity" "I'll.....Keep that in mind" Spitfire said, looking a little more then nervous. "I still can't believe you even went through with that. I would trust a machine with my life" Applejack said, eyeing the wings suspiciously. "Well I think that your wings are just Super!" Pinkie said, "And I know just the place where we can celebrate!" -Some While Later- Spitfire flew over the quiet town, the lights from the house illuminating the streets below. On said illuminated streets, tons of ponies walked. One would think that at this time of night ponies would be retiring to their homes to sleep, but not any longer. At this time, Spitfire and Dash, along with their friends, are going to a new club that was just opening tonight. Thus, the reason for the activity below. Spitfire was supposed to meet Rainbow and the others at the entrance to the club where Vinyl (She owed Pinkie a favor or two.) would get them in for free. It had all been planned in advance and Spitfire couldn’t think of a better way to spend her night. That and she got to show everypony her new ‘wings’. She had gotten used to the mechanical beasts over the course of the day and was flying somewhat comfortably through the gentle winds. Finally spotting the club (The large neon record out front was hard to miss.) along with its patrons, Spitfire flew down to see that everypony else had already gathered there. “Hey Spitfire! What took you so long?” Dash asked, giving her marefriend a quick peck on the cheek. “I was cleaning up your mess in the living room,” Spitfire said, earning a chuckle from Applejack. However, it only earned a glare from Rainbow Dash. “Alright, alright, I’m sorry. I’m just givin’ you a hard time,” Spitfire apologized. “Yeah. I noticed.” Rainbow rolled her eyes. Before any more banter could continue (Sadly.), the bouncer motioned with his hoof to come up to the line. Asking for I.D.s, he got them and waved them into the club. As they entered the club, the music pumping from the speakers and the mob of ponies down on the dance floor proved somewhat overwhelming for all but three of the party. While the rest of them were covering their ears to try to give some sort of protection from the assaulting noise, Spitfire, Rainbow Dash, and Pinkie Pie all bobbed their heads in time to the music. Obviously more accustomed to the atmosphere, they were unaffected by the loud noise and therefore were able to spot a white unicorn with electric blue hair coming towards them before the other four. “Hey you guys!” Vinyl tried to yell over the music. “You enjoying the club?” “Hay yeah! Right Spitfire?” Rainbow responded. Spitfire just nodding her head instead of yelling over the music as well. “I’m afraid ‘enjoying’ wouldn’t be the right word, Darling,” Rarity responded for those you could not raise their voices loud enough. “Huh. Well how ‘bout I take you guys somewhere a little more quiet?” Vinyl asked. “What? But the party’s in here!” Pinkie said, gesturing all around the room. “It’s got a private bar,” Vinyl said with a smirk. Pinkie shot of towards the door where she knew the alcohol would be. While the rest of the party followed Vinyl they tried to make small talk but it was made nearly impossible by the sheer volume of the music. Once they got back to the private room, Twilight was the first to speak. “THANKS VINYL! THIS IS A LOT BETTER!” “Um...Twi? You’re kinda yelling there,” Dash said, putting a hoof on her shoulder. “I AM? SO-Ahem, sorry about that. The music was really loud,” Twilight said, blushing a bit. “So, what do you guys think of the room?” Vinyl asked, gesturing her with her hoof once more at the large room. “Sound proof walls, private bar, Jacuzzi, and a sixty four inch plasma screen TV,” she said, pointing to each item in turn. Pinkie shot streight towards the bar and and started mixing drinks on the spot while Dash went over to join her. Twilight, Fluttershy, and Rarity all went to the Jacuzzi, Twilight bringing a book with her. And Applejack went over to the T.V. and turned on the Apple© Channel, which earned a flat look from Rainbow Dash. “Wow Vinyl, you’ve really made out here,” Spitfire said, looking around the room. “Yeah. I have. Now you owe me an explanation here,” Vinyl said, lowering her glasses. “What do you mean?” Spitfire asked tentatively. “Wings. Explanation. Now.” Vinyl punctuated each period as though it were really there, followed by, “You don’t talk to me for a couple year and then all of a sudden you say you need to talk and you show up with mechanical wings? Yeah, I want an explanation.” “Oh right. The wings. Eheheh, well you see, about, I don’t know.... four or five months ago, I fell and broke my wings. And Rainbow being the amazing marefrie-” Spitfire was interrupted. “Marefriend? Spits, what’s been going on?” Vinyl asked. “What happened to ‘I’m never going to settle down’ and ‘Single forever’?” “Vinyl. I was young, stupid and naive. Eventually we all meet somepony in our life that we really love. You can’t stop that,” Spitfire said, smiling fondly at Dash. “Yeah. Whatever. I’m going to be single forever! HELLS YES!” Vinyl yelled, running over to the bar where Pinkie was bartending. “Yeah. Right.” Spitfire had nothing more to say on the subject as she walked back over to Vinyl, “So are you going to let me finish my story?” “Story what stor-Oh! Yeah, of course. Sorry about that.” Vinyl grinned sheepishly. “Well Rainbow being the good marefriend that she is, took me to the hospital where the damage was so bad they had to amputate them a-” Spitfire was interrupted again. “WHAT! You had to have your wings amputated?” Vinyl asked, her mouth agape. Spitfire fixed her a cold hard stare. “Sorry.” “Anyways, after they were amputated, at our weddi-” Spitfire was still yet again interrupted. “You got hitched?!” Vinyl’s mouth agape. Again. “Are you going to be like this for the whole story?!” Spitfire snapped. “Sorry! I’m just so surprised with what you’ve done with your life!” Vinyl tried to defend herself, but Spitfire simply brushed it off with a sarcastic remark. “I could tell. Anyways at the wedding, some colt told me that he could give me mechanical wings. At first I didn’t want the-” Spitfire was intur-You know the drill by now. “You didn’t want them?!? Why not?” Vinyl was on the edge of her seat now. “Oh sweet Celestia, would you shut up for five minutes!” Spitfire threw her hooves up in the air. This time pinkie interrupted the conversation. “But then the writer would have to write a wall of text instead of dialogue!” Pinkie said, throwing her hooves up in the air as well. “Pinkie, what are you even talking about?” Spitfire looked at her now. “Nothing!” She said in a sing song voice. “Cupcake?” She pulled a pan full of cupcakes out of seemingly nowhere. “Okay?” Spitfire said, cautiously taking a cupcake. “Aww, sweet! Thanks Pinks!” Vinyl said, taking a cupcake as well. “Are we done with the interruptions?” Spitfire asked. When no one opposed her, she continued talking, “So. After realizing how much I missed flying with Dash, I ‘talked’ about the wings with her and ended up going to this crazy colts house to get them.” “Did you die from the surgery? I bet you did. You did, didn’t you?” Vinyl asked taking a swig from her drink. “Vinyl? If I died, how would I be talking to you?” Spitfire asked. “Wel-I mea-. I don’t know,” Vinyl admitted. “Right. Well I survived the surgery,” She aimed that sentence at Vinyl, “And it’s taking me a little bit to get used to the wings, but I’m pretty good with them now" “Wow Spits tha-” This time Vinyl was interrupted. “Spits?” Rainbow asked, “Since when were you called that?” “Since High School,” Vinyl said. “We were both at Cel-” “Vinyl. That was the most uncreative nickname ever,” Spitfire interrupted her. However before anymore interrupting could occur, the door to the room was opened and for a minute the roaring sounds of the crowd in the main room could be heard. A stallion with a futuristic helmet entered the room, his white-blue coat blending in nicely with the light gray of the helmet. His horn sticking out from the top, he used it to remove the helmet from his head, revealing a mane with that looked much like Vinyl’s with an almost turquoise blue color. “Well sis, who are these ponies?” he asked. “Sis?” Spitfire, Rainbow Dash and Pinkie asked simultaneously. “Vinyl, I didn’t know you had a brother. Now who’s keeping secrets?” Spitfire asked. “Ok, so I have a brother. His nam-” Vinyl was interrupted. AGAIN. “Names S0und_C0d3” He introduced himself. Speaking much like pinkie in the fact that he was speaking the numbers in his name, “And welcome to my new club.” “Your club? Then why is Vinyl playing here?” Twilight spoke up for the first time in a while. “Well she was helping me get the crowd moving. She’s a natural, you know,” he said, tapping Vinyl lightly on the shoulder. “Well it’s mighty nice ta meet ya,” Applejack said. “But what’s that there helmet for?” “Ah this?” he confirmed, lifting up the helmet. “This is a custom made helmet by a guy in Stalliongrad. It allows me to see every part of the song, my playlist and change songs at will. Hoof made one of a kind” His explanation was met with oohs and awes. “Well I think that’s enough bragging, don’t you?” Vinyl got up and flipped on her glasses, continuing, “How ‘bout we let this guy get back to his work and we can go dance?” “Sounds good! How about you guys?” Twilight asked the rest. Fluttershy was the only one who wasn’t exactly excited. “O-oh. I don’t know. It’s pretty loud out there. But I don’t want to ruin anyponies’ time.” Fluttershy scuffed her hoof nervously against the ground. “Oh come on now Darling. It’ll be... fun.” Rarity started to have second thoughts of her own. “Oh well, ok. I guess.” Fluttershy agreed, still slightly nervous about going out into the large, cramped room. “Don’t worry, Sugarcube. We’ll be with ya the whole time,” Applejack reassured her. With that, the party made their way to the door where they were met with a wall of sound and sight. The ponies on the floor were all dancing albeit different styles. “Well come on then! Let’s party!” Pinkie said, jumping the two stories onto the crowd which immediately started carrying her across the room. The others, preferring a much safer approach, simply walked down the steps and then scooted their way into the crowd where they fell into the rhythm of the song almost instantly. Dancing with the rhythm, they almost didn’t notice when glow sticks began to drop from the ceiling and everypony grabbing them and waving them around. With the glow sticks in the air, the place almost looked like a rainbow. When Spitfire turned around, she locked eyes with Rainbow and without words the both took off into the air and grabbed each other. Locking their mouths, they began a simple dance in the air that inspired more pegasi to jump up with their loved ones and repeat the simple dance as well. This in turn only inspired the unicorns in the audience to cast a simple spell that created the effects of a light show in the air. With this all happening at once, one could almost feel the emotion in the air. As the song slowed to a stop, and the pegasi and unicorns stopped their spontaneous performance, everyone stomped their hooves on the floor for the relatively new DJ. Stepping away from his table for a moment, Sound Code bowed before stepping back and starting a new and much simpler song. The others gathered around the door to say one final goodbye to Vinyl. “Hey Vinyl. Thanks for the show. It really was fun,” Spitfire hugged her longtime friend. “Hey, no problem. Be sure to keep in touch, ok?” Vinyl hugged her back. Nodding her head, Spitfire led the others to the outside where the made the way back to the town square. Seeing them go, Vinyl looked around for something else to entertain herself with. Seeing a grey mare in the corner booth holding some scotch, Vinyl made her way over that way. Her night was going to get a lot more interesting. Author's Note Pinkie. You get me so well. Walls of text suck, so there’s a method to my madness. Thanks to all of you for dealing with my lack of motivation, but drama season is finely over so expect a more regular update schedule. A big thanks to Inkstain for ‘encouraging’ me to get writing. But I’m feeling a lot better now guys. Edit- Also check out my new tumblr~ http://ask-skyfire.tumblr.com/ ~ I realized I need to work on my tablet skills. So what better way then to start an art tumblr?
The start of something newThat was it.
-Dropbeat
Breakfast with RainbowsAlone on her cloud bed, Rainbow awoke to the smell of fresh eggs.
-Theengineerbrony
Rainbow's crisesSpitfire shuffled her hoof around in her saddle bag looking for her key to the house. -Theengineerbrony
An Intervention, of sorts.....Rainbow Dash lay in her bed, Spitfire having left for work hours ago. -Theengineerbrony
It's complicated-Dream Sequence- A small blue pegasus filly sat in a ring of other colts and fillies, her eyes red and puffy from crying.
-Theengineerbrony
A surprise vistWhere were we? -Theengineerbrony
A problem occursSpitfire felt like a god. Expect more of that -Theengineerbrony
I'll love you alwaysTick, tick, tick. What the buck?) -Theengineerbrony
Just why?Spitfire lay at the edge of a cloud with her head on her hooves.
-Theengineerbrony
Wings AnewSpitfire woke up next to her new wife; the sunlight streaming through the window highlighting all the little particles of dust floating around the room. Yeah. Oh and I’d like to thank Kiroberos for taking time out of his busy schedule to proof my chapter (I’m guessing it’s busy?)
ShowoffSpitfire tore through the air, the sun glinting off her silver metal wings.
