The psychotic gentlegriff

Celestia’s POV

I awoke just before dawn and took in my surroundings, the airship was surprisingly spacious and it appeared that we had landed.

I found Anubis asleep at the controls and a green blinking light, no idea what it was but i made my way to the door and pushed the switch to open it.

Hissssssss*

Clunk*

I stepped out and felt sand on my hooves, then the salty smell of the ocean air hit me and I was reminded of my youth. Dangerous but simpler times, before all the responsibility of pony-kind was thrown onto me and my dear sister.

I felt my eyes begin to water as I gazed longingly to her moon, maybe Anubis and I could help her….

Then a warm feathery appendage wrapped itself around my barrel and familiar claws gently guided me into a pleasant scented chest of fluffy red and white fur.

“Oh Anubis, t-thank you…. I needed that, I-i was just reminiscing about a time before the crown and my duties….”

“It’s okay, you’re okay my dear…. Hell if I had it my way, ruling would be a breeze for you…. So would you mind explaining to me why I commonly see you getting all worked up staring at the moon?”

I felt myself stiffen up against him and he loosened his hold, after a few seconds i melted back into him. “Please let me raise the sun first.”

“Go on then my dear, I’ll watch but I want to show you something I’ve been practicing and then we’ll talk about what ails my Alicorn.”

I just gave him a warm smile and turned to the horizon, lighting my horn and slowly lowering my head. The moon followed and disappeared beneath the horizon and the sun began to rise as I held my head up high.

Turning back to my griff-friend, I found him staring at my flanks. “Sigh* my eyes are up here.”

“Oh I know.”

“Heheheheh my goodness, how forward of you sir Grimgost.”

“Sorry I was just imagining you in a nurse’s outfit, I might have to get sick….”

“We both know that you can’t get sick, mister biomancer. Anyway come here I need to tell you something important about me and then you can show me what you’ve been practicing.”

“Oh? Um so….” He approached and wrapped himself in my wings.

“I didn’t used to rase the moon sniffle* I once had a sister who was responsible for the moon and stars….” I waited a few seconds to gauge his reaction but he just smiled and waited for me to continue. “S-she’s currently imprisoned on the moon. Sniffle* The very moon she would rise and lower at dusk and dawn.”

Anubis pulled me close and began to run his claws through my mane, it was doing wonders to calm me.

“Do you want to tell me what happened to her?”

“Y-yeah…. Her name is Luna and she was pushed to darkness by jealousy, eventually she was possessed by something evil and tried to rebel against me…. I-sniffle* I had to use the Elements of harmony to banish her. Sob* I-i didn’t want to! Sob* b-but I h-had to for my ponies, I’ve been alone ever since Anubis…. Until you showed up….”

He just held me, rocking me back and forth. Never saying a word nor interrupting me, I was a sniffling mess but he didn’t care. Then he opened his beak.

“Celestia?” He started in a deep soft coo, his accent sending a shiver down my spine. “How long?” The question took me by surprise and I took a second to process it. “How long have you been alone?”

“Sniffle* Oh! Um just a year over 800 since that day….”

“Sigh* you poor soul, my dear. Don’t worry I’m not going anywhere soon and…. I’d love to meet your little sister.” My heart skipped a beat and Anubis definitely noticed. “Um ah I mean if you want me to that is.” I cut him off with a kiss and he returned the embrace ten fold, lifting me up into his claws and falling back onto the ground with me on top of him.

“I’d be honoured to one day introduce you to my sister but I don’t know how to save her.” I had completely forgot that Anubis could in theory extend his life, does that me I don’t have to say goodbye to him….

“We’ll find a way to make it work…. So can i show you what I’ve been practicing as of late now? But one more thing, please don’t feel guilty for what you had to do…. It wasn’t your fault my dear.”

“Thank you…. Heheheheh, I love it when you’re like this. I didn’t believe the stereotype but griffons must be an extremely proud race.”

“Gasp* don’t compare me to your standard griffon, I’m a long-eared griffon! I’m far more sexy-er”

“Oh I thought that name was silly?”

“Shut up and get off me, I need to show you this.”

“Okay.” I let him up and he had a look of concentration, I wondered what he was focusing on but when I reached out my hoof. It stopped about two inches away and I couldn’t touch him.

“Hahahah! Yes, see! I can make an invisible, unbreakable wall of atoms around me. So what do you think?”

I had no words, this was unexpected and extremely impressive, my Anubis had made a shield from the very fabric of reality. “H-how….”

“I just will the atoms to cover my body and formed them into a barrier, it’s a mixture of a magical barrier and the outer layer of my plasma blade technique.”

“Wow…. That’s…. Sorry I’m just at a loss for words sweetie.”

“It’s definitely difficult to comprehend but I have faith in you and you're wonderful mind.”

I just raised an eyebrow at him. “Excuse me?”

“Heheheh…. So um I also got you a gift too, here take it.” He held out a small black box and I went to grab it in my aura but my magic couldn’t reach.

“Um Anubis?”

“Oh wow that’s good to know, sorry now try.” I did and my magic picked up the box for his claws and I levitated towards me.

I unlocked the little latch and opened the box, inside was a collar? I looked to Anubis and he was wearing a large grin. “Go on put it on.”

“Let me look at it first.” I lifted it up and read the text on the collar, I still wasn’t sure about wearing it. I mean I’m not a pet or anything but it looks well crafted.

The text said “her name is Celestia and her owner is Anubis Grimgost. If you find her, please return to Canterlot Castle.”

“Excuse me but what!?!”

“What? I just want to make sure if I lose you whoever finds you can return my swan neck.”

“Sigh* hehehehe there’s no way I’m wearing this.

“Shot, well I had already foreseen that coming.”

“Sigh* okay what’s the plan?”

“Relax, I’ll make breakfast and then we get going, we should land on the southern continent’s north coast by this afternoon.”

“Oh um okay, so I’ll just relax. Yeah I’ll kick back and take in the view.”

“Good, because dear you’ve earned it.”

A feel hourly later we were in the alien looking airship over the south luna sea, Anubis was at the wheel…. Well it wasn’t really a wheel, more like a stick that he was holding onto.

I surprisingly felt relaxed and lighter, I wasn’t worrying for my ponies for the first time in forever. Not to mention that I felt at ease about confining in Anubis about the guilt I’ve been feeling for my sister’s banishment.

It’s truly odd, when I’m with him I feel all my stress, anxiety and fear for everything just…. Melt away.

“I love you Anubis.”

“I love me too Celestia.”

“Huff your meant to say I love you back!”

“I’d rather just show you how much I love your flanks.”

“Sigh~* well I have to agree with you there, I do have a nice pair of flanks.”

“Yep the best but I also love you too.”

“Hehehehheh~ that’s what I wanted to hear, good griff.”

“Don’t push your luck now.”

“Eep! Uh yeah hehe…. So why do you want to go to the south continent?”

“I just like the idea of an unexplored place, it’s just appealing to my curious nature I guess.”

His answer made my heart flutter, he likes adventure and discovering new places, maybe we’ll find a lost city or ruins older than me.

Oh I’m really excited for this, eeeee I’d get to show off all my survival skills from when I was a filly, Oh he'll be so impressed. I was gazing out to the endless ocean as we skated across the clouds.

“Hey Swan neck! If we’re to explore the south continent we can sleep in here, it’s got accommodations for four and food for the week….”

I sagged upon hearing that.

“But~ we might have to camp, I’m half decent at pitching a tent but….”

“Oh I’m really good at that stuff, I’ll take charge and make sure we don’t go without.”

“Good, I’ll keep us from getting sick and dehydrated.”

He fell silent and I happily took to bapping at his swishing tail whilst staring out the triangle window, in the distance I could see the griffon nation.

Nip*

“Ouch!”

“Gasp* oh I’m so sorry Anubis! I just.”

“It’s fine, I can heal…. Shit~ you actually drew blood my love, bad Alicorn. Bad.”

“I didn’t mean to.”

“What do you mean you didn’t mean to?! You bit me!”

“Just fly your airship before you crash.”

“Heheheheheh! Why are you scared?”

“No!” He slowly turned to me with a psychotic grin and my blood ran cold. “A-Anubis don’t! Ahhhhhhhhhh! Please!!!!!!!! Get me out of this death trap!!!!!!!”

He had pushed the stick forward and the airship almost immediately pointed towards the ocean and everything started to float, even me!

I was genuinely terrified now and Anubis grabbed me and pulled us to the floor, he used his magic to take control of the airship and level it out.

I was shaking uncontrollably and I wanted to hit him but my body didn’t respond, I think he realised what he had done because he was nuzzling me behind the ears. I look up at him with teary eyes and his grip tightening around me.

“I’m sorry Celestia, I didn’t know that would scare you so much. Are you okay? I’m here for you.”

“Stupid griff….” I said with a shaky breath.

“I know…. I know…. Although I never thought you’d be scared of zero g’s.”

“I’m not scared…. What’s zero g’s anyway?”

“Zero gravity.”

“Oh…. Well I’m not scared, it just feels wrong…. That’s all.”

“Yeah, it takes a little to get used to movement with no gravity.”

“I’d rather not experience that again, it makes me feel sick.”

We continued on and made first sight of the continent, we landed on a large island that was connected to the mainland by a large land bridge.

As soon as the ship landed, I immediately went for the door and jumped out. It was good to have my hooves on grass and I immediately got to work on setting up a campsite for us i even packed one extra large sleeping bag for two.

I may have only had less than a day but I definitely didn’t waste it, I had gotten everything I could have needed for an expedition. Although the first aid kit was probably a waste of space, especially since Anubis was basically a walking, talking, fucking first aid kit.

Anubis immediately began to scout out the surrounding area for any possible threats and came back after I had made a camp fire.

I trotted into the airship and grabbed a bag of marshmallows and threw them at the unsuspecting griff but they just bounced off the air and fell on the ground.

“Oh you’re using your…. Thing? Sigh* you need to name it.”

“Mhmmmmm you’re right I should name this…. But what?” He jumped up and sat down in the air, I just stared in shock at the effortless display. “Maybe…. Creation because I’m literally using the very building blocks of everything.”

“Mhmmmm yeah it sounds good but you don’t really use it to create anything with….” I trailed off as I watched the smug grinning griff make a steaming cup of tea appear from nothing.

“You were saying my dear?”

“Huff* at least make me one.”

“Why of course, here you are.”

I took a look around and realised that I needed to lower the sun, so I went to place the warm tea on the ground but it sat above it on an invisible table.

“Creation is quite useful isn’t it, it’s just a shame i can’t use my plasma blade at the same time….”

“You can’t? Why?”

“No clue but I think one soul can’t use two techniques at the same time.”

That makes the most sense but if I have this soul magic then why don’t I have a soul technique? Although it’s not like I’ve ever needed it before, I guess raw strength is good enough to defeat those Dream spirits.

I have to admit though, it would be cool to have a soul technique. “Anubis how does one go about getting a soul technique?”

“Well I gave Sky and Blazing a soul technique but you can just train and develop your own or learn another’s technique but learning somecreatures else’s technique is probably really hard.”

“Oh…. Do you think you could help me with soul technique, well i mean lack of one but I want to train and develop my own one.”

“Most definitely, I’d love to help…. I could even document your progress, we’ll start once we get back.”

Oh I love it when he’s enthusiastic about something, he gets all giddy and obsessed…. He gets obsessed…. He’s going to be obsessing about me!

“Eeeeeheheheh, come and snuggle with me Anubis. I want to do some star gazing with you.”

“Yeah…. I mean wow, just look at that nebula. It’s so much more vibrant than the Milky Way….”

“What’s the Milky Way?”

“Cough* um ahhh it’s….” He stammered out after almost choking on a marshmallow. “A place that I tend to dream of…. I know it’s embarrassing.”

“I didn’t know you could dream.” My tone teasing.

“Oh shut it swan neck and come here. Smooch*”

“Heheheheh, your beak’s all marshmallowy.”

“Nom nom nom, sigh* yeah I guess I can’t eat marshmallows properly. So you’ll have to teach me, oh and could you help me with some normal magic? I’m having trouble with the casting of some spells.”

“Heheheheheh ewe that gross but yes of course I’ll help you.”

“Thanks.”

A few hours pass by whilst we practiced casting spells, then he got up and nuzzled behind my ears.

“so I’m gonna go hunting for whatever edible on this island. Stay here I’ll only be an hour max.”

I nodded and he took off, after ten or so minutes I began to scrape my hoof in the dirt. Digging up mud and rocks, i immediately stopped upon hearing a loud clang as my hoof hit something metallic so I inspected it.

Upon further inspection I came to the realisation that it was a coffin of sorts and I dug it up despite my moral compass. Opening it was a terrible mistake because the dead carcass jumped out at me and I reflectively shot it with a powerful beam of concentrated magic.

But it only knock the undead away unfazed by its lack of hind legs and crawled toward me, so I shot it with a second one and it now had a hole in its skull.

I inched closer and realised that it was a long-eared griffon like Anubis was but rotten beyond belief, in fact it looked like the effects of death were reversing.

“Gasp* gasp* was? Was that a zombie? Where’s Anubis, I need to tell him now but how?”

Meanwhile Anubis happily stalked through the dense tropical rainforest of the island, he could smell fresh blood but couldn’t find the source.

As he got closer and closer to a large cave which the scent of blood grew stronger Anubis extended his claws and bone blades.

The enticing smell made him salivate and he began to slink toward it, as he entered the cave he was met with….

A badly bleeding fawn that had lost all strength and will to run, on its barrel was a gruesome set of claw marks.

“Mhmmmmm I think Celestia said something about some deer being sentient and some not, so I shall ask if it understands me.”

Laying next to the dying fawn, it’s eyes pick up the movement as it’s breathing becomes more ragged.

“Hello? Are you an intelligent life form? Would you be opposed to me eating you?”

It didn’t respond with any words or even noises, the little one had bled out and Anubis now felt awkward because he was lying next to a corpse and soaked in its blood.

“Well I’ve got dinner, now I just need to get cleaned up…. But I’m not going to take it back to Celestia, she’ll probably pass out at seeing it.”

20 minutes later and a wash, the giant griff was using one of the cleaned ribs of his meal to pick his beak. He was happily prancing toward the airship and his mare-friend, he had enjoyed venison but didn’t want to tell Celestia about it.

But when he made it back to the campsite, he was met with an unsettled Alicorn mare that was trotting in place in front of a rotten carcass.

“C-Celestia? I-is that a long-eared griffon?” He took a step closer.

“Gasp* no Anubis I-it’s not what it looks like! I…. It’s not alive! I mean it was undea.” A sinister set of chuckles tore from his throat and Celestia takes a step back.

“Hahahahahahh~ wow, a zombie by the looks of it. Maybe this is what happened to my species?”

“Sigh* I thought you were going to freak out or something…. But yeah I opened this metal coffin and it jumped out at me.”

“Well I didn’t hear you scream, so I’m impressed with that but I think it might be smart to get cozy in the ship…. It didn’t bite you?”

“Sigh*no and yeah I guess you’re right but I was so looking forward to this.” She gestured to the stunningly starry sky above us.

“I know but, I might be able to fix something up….” The large griff got to work and jumped up on the roof of the airship, rapidly changing the atoms in the steal to allow light to pass through.

When Celestia carried the supplies back in she was taken aback and fell to her rump, she could see the night sky clearly from inside and then her attention was drawn to two dangling orbs as she licked her lips.

Anubis then went inside and locked the main door, he swagger his way toward a beat red Alicorn who was failing to form sentences.

“Hey~ beautiful, you come her often?”

“Uh um n-no.” She managed to squeak out.

“Grrrrrrrr~ good~ then how about you join me for a passionate night under the stars my dear~.”

“Oh my! Yeah heheheheh I’d be charmed to indulge in some of you…. I meant with you! No, I mean….”

Smooch*

Anubis stopped her with a kiss, that lasted for a healthy minute.

“Gasp* heheheheh~ so do you mind if I take the lead tonight, I want to repay you for everything.” She giggled upon seeing his ears perk up.

“Oh my, I mean of course.” He proceeded to lay on his back, wings and legs extended and Celestia drooled at the sight before her.
