The psychotic gentlegriff
C70 Vacation for two part 4.
Previous ChapterNext ChapterCelestia’s POV
Anubis was acting and speaking differently…. In fact he isn’t being himself one bit, I need to find out what happened to him before he tries to go back into those ruins.
“Mor-Celestia you look concerned, is something on your mind?”
“Mhmmm no…. I’m just processing what we saw down there.”
“Oh yes that was rather unpleasant but if you want, you can take refuge in the…. Air-ship.”
“I’m not letting you go in there Anubis, you’re acting strange…. Like a completely different creature, it’s scaring me.”
“Oh mortal I’m sorry, I don’t intend on bringing you distress.”
“Ha! I knew it! SO WHO THE FUCK ARE YOU!?!”
“Knew what?” He laughed nervously and I knew that I had him backed into a corner.
“I know you’re not my Anubis, I don’t know how I know but I do. So what have you done with him and who are you, more importantly why are you controlling his body?”
“Oh no…. Um so calm down, I’ll explain but you can’t let him know that you know.”
“Why?!”
“Because he really doesn’t want you to know…. he’s afraid you’ll worry over him.”
“Well we’re past that point now! So who are you and what are you!” I was losing my cool but that didn’t matter, I needed to get to the bottom of this.
“Okay okay, I’m talking. Sigh* mortals are always a pain, listen. I’m Zodiacrdanals but Anubis calls me Zodiac, I’m a grate one that Anubis has forged an alliance with and unfortunately as a side effect of our alliance. We sometimes switch control, this typically happens when his soul is exhausted or falls unconscious.”
Wha? Wait a second, a grate one? Where have I heard that before? “So Anubis knows what you are and what you want?” I was circling him now with my horn ignited.
“Yes.”
“Then what do you want?”
“We are both after an ancient artefact that holds great significance to Anubis and myself, it is in the buried city.”
“Well I’m not letting you take his body back down there!”
“Sigh* then I’m sorry.”
It took me a second to process what he said but it was too late, an inky black tentacle appeared from the ground and wrapped itself around me.
“Hey?!? What are you doing….” Suddenly my eyelids felt heavy and I could feel myself drifting off into sleep.
———————————————————————
“Sigh* I just hope Anubis didn’t see that…. No point of dwelling on it now, I have a artefact to retrieve.” With that Zodiac laid Celestia down in the airship and locked the door before taking off back down into Old Leakon.
Once he landed, the cosmic entity began to search for the blue Necrovine artefact but couldn’t locate it. He only knew that it was in the city somewhere and that the presence of fore unholy gods of the dreamscape were here, in the Waking World.
“Well I’ll just have to deal with them accordingly.” Zodiac looked around the gothic underground city and took to trekking towards the north side, towards a monumental dome that was in impeccable condition considering its age.
“Mortal, can you hear me? Anubis?”
‘….’
Zodiac got no response and let out a sigh. “I just hope he’s okay, it seems teleporting tires his soul out a lot.”
Meanwhile in the void, Anubis was being exposed to some key moments in Zodiacrdanals’s existence. There was far too many for him to understand or process but he managed to grasp some valuable information, primarily the very first time the cosmic entity had harnessed the full power of the stars.
Anubis did his best to take that all in, the griff had been trying to get Zodiac to give him that information but each time the grate one said no.
But now, Anubis was being exposed to the very info he wanted so badly and he was liking the potential of it.
“Sigh* well I guess I can just relax here whilst I wait to get control of my body back, I hope Celestia isn’t mad….”
He laid down and stared off into the cold dead expanse of the void with a look of indifference. Taking comfort in the hollow empty embrace it gave, he felt a kinship with this place oddly enough.
To him it felt complete with the exceptions of something he couldn’t comprehend, something that he lacked.
True feelings.
True untamed emotions that ran wild without the hindrance of his own logic, the love he felt for Silver and Celestia was real but it never blinded him or made him impulsive. He had done well to replicate impulsive actions but…. He knew deep down inside, it wasn’t the same as the real thing and it frustrated him.
“Hell, even Zodiacrdanals has a better understanding of true emotions than me and he’s a bloody cosmic abomination…. Is there something really…. Wrong…. with…. me….”
The words felt vile as they rolled of his tongue and the griff swiftly shook the notion away.
“No…. That’s not it, I’m not broken….”
———————————————————————
Zodiacrdanals tore a large crude iron saw like sword out of the crumbling clutches of a long dead griffon.
The skeleton threatened to splinter when the cosmic entity took the blade, said blade emitted an overwhelming amount of raw soul energy and zodiac decided to give the mortals method of combat a try for himself.
After all, Anubis’s body was a physical powerhouse thanks to his bio-manipulation. Zodiac found it weird that he had memories of a different creature but in places that Anubis had shown him.
The creature was a human, a being the had a cold calculating method behind the madness it had conducted, it’s voice similar yet different from the mortal that Zodiac had come to know but it’s imaginative nature was the same.
This was something he would have to talk to Anubis about because from what the great one knew of humans was that their mortal minds would shatter upon gazing at any form of a cosmic entity.
But if Anubis was once a human, then he must have been a remorseless one.
The great one’s attention was drawn to a mad grumbling of an ancient griff, who had hollowed soulless eyes that were glazed over. The rotting mad griff had a dusty red coat and thin brown feathers attached to frailer limbs, patches of fur were missing and exposing the tightly wrapped skin underneath.
Zodiac try to get closer to hear what the old fossil was rambling about but once he did, the griff looked up at him and widened his clouded eyes.
“Ahh~ at last after thousands of years, a souled one has returned to reclaim our sacred soil from the unholy gods and Dream Spirits. Oh souled one, it’s a honour to meet you. Please if you need any information I can provide, for I was Rayth the librarian of the Grand Old Leakon library.”
“Oh is that so, well I could use your assistance in locating a artefact, a Necrovine Artefact to be precise.”
“Ahhh~ you hunt for the Necrovine Artefact of Old Leakon, well I can’t say where its location is for the unholy gods have taken it…. But I’m sure a true Necrovine such as yourself will have no problem dealing with them.”
The grate one’s eyes widened in surprise but he did well to hide it from the ancient griff. “So you know what I am, well then why help me?”
“Because I have grown tired of this sorry excuse for living, if the Necrovine artefacts merges with the body of an ascended one. Then the effects will seize to be and our souls or whatever is left of them will all be able to leave our bodies for good.”
“Mhmmmm so you crave death, I understand. Well then, it seems you’re in luck then.” And with that the larger of the two raised an ancient rusted sword and brought it down upon the fossil of a griffon, splitting his body that had been falling apart for over two thousand years in half and Zodiac watched as the soul of the one who helped him floated about the two half’s.
“Sigh* this should spare you from the pain for a while before you regenerate.”
He shook his head and walked down the street towards the large domed building that was surrounded by impaled bodies of hundreds of the residents that once called this place home. But now they call it hell as they cry out in agony.
As the cosmic entity came to a humble square, he took in the sight and envisioned how magnificent this monumental city would have been in its golden age. He found it impressive that mortal minds could create such great and unique things if given the chance.
CRASH!!*
SLAM!*
SHING*
Clash*
A similar sword was swung at him which he dodged and then blocked, his attacker was a sickly mutated creature that once was a long-eared griffon in black ornate armour. The sword that Zodiac was now locked against was just as big and rusty as the one he had found but the blade was still sharp.
Then the armoured undead swords-griff jumped back and pointed the tip of his sword at the cosmic entity.
BANG!*
Splatter*
“Grrrrrrrrr well I didn’t expect that.”
With a loud bang and a flash of fire, a large ball had been fired at Zodiac. It hit and completely removed half of Anubis’s skull but it healed quickly and Zodiac used Anubis’s monstrous speed to close the distance.
The armoured zombie just stood there, unmoving but as he brought his sword down upon the undead it let out a high pitched laugh that made all the hairs on the larger griff’s body stand on end.
Slice*
Splatter*
Zodiac was confused because he himself didn’t react but Anubis’s body did and from what he could tell, staying here wasn’t a smart move.
But before he could take to the air a huge mess of melted corpses blitzed through the nearby buildings, completely levelling them.
Zodiacrdanals grinned, he was enjoying this. Restricting himself made this far more entertaining than just killing everything in the area.
“So this is adrenaline? Anubis was right when he said it was addicting, it’s a shame that you won’t be able to entertain me for long…. I mean it’s not your fault after all I’m a god!”
Zodiacrdanals might have been fighting with only Anubis’s physical strength but the arrogance he displayed was otherworldly.
———————————————————————
Meanwhile in the airship Celestia rose on tired legs as her mind cleared.
At first she was furious but then her anger died down, Celestia began to ponder why Anubis would keep something as important as another entity inside his mind a secret.
He must have had his reasons but when she thought about it, she couldn’t help but wonder what else he’s hiding. He’s always been very secretive, that’s just his nature.
‘I mean the mystery of him and his unpredictability is why I love him…. Well other than his looks and physical strength, even if it’s not normal for a mare to enjoy being dominated it’s what I like.’
She had decided on hunting him down and saving her griff-friend from the same fate as her sister, so she started working on a plan. One that didn’t involve the elements of harmony, she believed that her solution lies within the underground city.
But before she left, her hoof got caught on Anubis’s white button up t-shirt, she lifted it up and looked around before taking a sniff. The powerful scent of her griff hit her nostrils and her wings gave a full salute, her arousal began to change her direction as she flopped her back down against the cold metallic floor.
“M-Maybe some self care is needed before venturing out.” She shivered as her aura took the form of Anubis’s member and her hooves pressed the griff’s shirt against her muzzle.
But before she did anything she stopped, deciding against the act she got up and opted to wear Anubis’s T-shirt before shaking her ruffled feathers back into place.
“W-what has gotten into me? I normally have better self control than this…. Sigh* what am I going to do, that griff has me wrapped around his claws and I’m sure he knows it too.”
As she pondered what was wrong with her, the regal Alicorn’s mind wondered to a concerning thought.
‘There is an outlawed spell that can induce estrus in a mare…. And it’s only outlawed in Equestria…. And I’m not in Equestria right now, so it’s not really a crime to use it and starting a family is the next logical step for us…. So…. I’ll cast the spell once I know he’s in control of his body and let him do as he pleases.’
And with that she buttoned up the over sized shirt and pranced out of the ship, leaving her regalia behind. Her plan was simple, find Anubis and save him, then he would reward her and she’ll cast the spell before her reward.
But then she hauled in her tracks, she had just remembered what was down in those sunken streets. The undead griffons, the scent of death and lastly. That thing….
She took a deep breath and with a flash of her horn, the grate sword Anubis had made her appeared by her side. She held it close in a offensive stance as she glided into the city below.
Upon touchdown Celestia was immediately the target of a large white beast, which leaped toward her with a mouth of knife like bones. Each one poorly wedged in its boney jaw, that resembled a large stag’s skull.
She immediately shot it with a beam of concentrated magical energy and followed through with her sword.
Despite It’s boney form, the beast was relatively strong. It took the hit from both magical and physical attacks without a problem but the worry was the black blood that crystallised over the end of her sword.
She also noticed her breath in the now chilled air.
This was an unknown foe and the regal Alicorn didn’t know what its weakness was or its strengths for that matter but she definitely knew one thing, she was going to be heating this whole area up by a few hundred degrees.
She ignited her horn and at first nothing noticeable happened but then the stone and brick around her began to melt as bioluminescent mushrooms and overgrown vines busted into flames.
Unbeknownst to Celestia her eyes turned a fiery orange along with her mane and tail, fangs started to poke out from her muzzle.
The odd creature had a look of panic as its blood crystals began to melt, it tried to run as flames began to dance up Celestia’s horn. It barely had time to turn around before the now fired up Alicorn mare took aim and fired.
KABOOOM!*
“Huff* it’s been a while since I could safely let loose.”
In front of her was nothing but molten stone and brick, she had released a small fraction of her son upon the odd beast which was nothing more than ashes now.
Her eyes and mane returned to their normal state and she casually trotted off in search of a certain individual.
Her search led her into a dark and grim looking church that was covered in overgrown vines with an equally grim graveyard to accompany it.
The pure white Alicorn stood out like a sore thumb as she walked along the path and approached the giant double doors.
Bits of rotten vegetation ripped off the colossal doors and Celestia started to wonder about the sight before her.
In a grand hall, wall covered in bioluminescent fungi, stood an odd three like creatures that resemble a large deer. It’s antlers were a striking neon green and it’s eyes match but as her eyes travel down to its body, she notices that it was distinctly wolf like.
Celestia took a step forward and bright green eyes appeared from the darkness, what happened next shocked her. A pack of giant timber wolves lumbered out and began to growl.
The pure white Alicorn pondered on why there was timber wolves here but was rudely interrupted by said wolves charging at her.
But her reaction time was far too fast for the mutant wooden Hounds, the front two got completely cleaved in half and before the three in the back could retreat. Celestia had trampled the far left wolf whilst using her sword to spewer the remaining two, they let out a guttural pained howl before death.
“And that leaves just you….” She slowly began to circle the timber deer, keeping her eyes darting around for anything that might attack next.
She’d been lying if she told anycreature that she wasn’t mad at Anubis for not telling her that he made a deal with a great one but thankfully none of her little ponies were here to see her.
As she took a step closer, a bombardment of vines slammed into the ground but Celestia had taken to the air and was dodging vine after vine. Hacking and slashing her way through the dense plant matter.
She saw her opportunity and swung but as she closed the distance, the timber deer vanished and reformed on the opposite side of the hall. Celestia turned to look but felt a sharp pain in her flank, she teleported away from the mass of greenery and quickly inspected her left flank.
To her dismay, a large gash was on it. Stretching from her hip all the way to her rump, it cut across her cutie mark and she lit her horn up. A ring of golden fire spun around her rapidly and the vast network of vines were quickly cremated and a look of terror appeared on the timber deer’s muzzle.
“HOW DARE YOU!!!”
Booooooooooom!*
Crash*
Thud*
Clatter*
The enraged Alicorn’s attention was directed to the metallic clatter of something that fell from a pedestal in the back of the grand hall.
She summoned one of the green bottles of soda that Anubis had said would heal large wounds and injuries but before she could use it, she noticed that her injury was healing by itself. Her mind wondered to Anubis and more questions appeared.
But that would have to wait, right now her attention was set on the small stone statue of a female long-eared griffon holding a young cub to her chest and guarding it with long scythe like blades identical to Anubis’s.
She tried to read the markings on the base but couldn’t make heads or tails of it, she decided to take it and conduct her own research upon the item. Celestia theorised that it must have been a religious artefact and was made to last, once she had teleported it and the bottle of recovery soda back to the ship she began to investigate the graveyard.
Meanwhile Zodiac sensed that one of the unholy gods had been slain but by whom he wondered.
