Planet Earth is our most valuable possession. Take good care of it, even if it’s only so much you can do.
Definitely didn’t think I would ever write a TCB story, but here we are. Not my best story, and it’s probably going to require a good rewrite, but it’s definitely the most profound I’ve written so far.
For now I’ll stick to collecting feedback to see in how many ways I messed up while writing this…

Captain’s log entry 21:
Date: 21/04/2261
Space Station Aspiration to Ground Control, do you read? This is Captain James speaking.
We spotted an anomaly in the Pacific Ocean a few kilometers out from North America‘s west coast. It looks like some form of landmass or something and seems to be surrounded by a pink bubble.
Can anyone confirm this or have our visual sensors gone crazy?
Captain’s log entry 29:

According to updates from Earth we’re dealing with a completely new landmass that has appeared out of nowhere. First contact with a new species has been made, apparently called Ponies.
Personally, I’m worried, this will spell trouble in some form or another. I hope the governments know what they’re doing…
Personal Note: Am I mistaken, or is that bubble… or dome as it’s officially called… getting bigger?

I CALLED IT! TWICE!
That dome is indeed getting bigger, and it spells a lot of trouble. Ground Control just confirmed that the dome is absorbing earth and turning every area it passes into part of that so-called Equestria!
Our planet is under attack! Why is nobody doing anything?!
Captain’s log entry 44:
Date: 12/07/2262
Apparently, there’s some form of a program known as the Conversion Bureau going on. The process of turning humans into ponies in order to survive the dome.
I called BS at first, but apparently, such a type of technology actually exists.
Nevertheless, I wonder why you would go to such extreme measures. Wouldn’t it be simpler to simply give humans magic immunity instead of going full body transformation? You simply need to pick out the right genes or lifeforce and alter it to fit Equestrian standards.
Full transformation? That risks a lot of side effects, are the results still human?
Captain’s log entry 50:

Space reveals things, you simply cannot see from the ground. The fragility of the earth is one of those things, but there is also outstanding beauty. Despite the pollution of humanity, she still looks as beautiful as the first day I looked down from a station.
This time however there’s something wrong. A pink dome spreads across the earth‘s surface like a cancer tumor, turning everything into something… different. The pictures they send from Earth show beautiful blue skies, green grass, and clear water, but from up here?
Artificial beauty, like some form of badly applied makeup. Earth doesn’t need improvements, only fixing. Whatever the dome is doing, it’s taking away what Earth truly is…
Earth is a wild, dangerous place, mixing terror with astonishment and awe, peace with tranquility and calmness. This looks more like some form of cartoon.
Captain’s log entry 104:
Date: 24/08/2265
I don’t know what to believe anymore… My sister converted a few days ago, and I talked to her earlier. I was talking to a freaking pegasus! I still can’t believe it honestly… All of this is so surreal, especially since I’ve been isolated from the world for so long now… No shuttles travel between Earth and orbit anymore, priority has shifted away from us.
As a result, I’ve been in space for years now, and all I see is an expanding dome, Earth being consumed by it and Equestria growing larger each day. The dome speed is picking up.
On a different note, 3 of our crew left yesterday. We held a vote, and some wanted to go back to earth. Seeing friends and family convert broke them, and I couldn’t bring myself to deny the request. They left in an escape pod and should’ve safely arrived in Europe by now. Maybe they’ve even already converted?
Personally, I won’t convert. A captain never leaves his crew behind. It’s my duty to stay and go down with the ship… and potentially Terra…

We lost contact with ground control today. The dome has swallowed half of the world by now, so I fear that contact might be gone for good…
Not that I have sent many entries lately. There’s simply nothing to report.
Nevertheless, the situation is more than concerning…

Why am I still making these? There’s nobody left to answer back on… whatever name that planet has. It’s definitely not Earth.
The ponies can’t hear us with their mediocre tech, and humans are no more on that planet. We have been alone for almost 3 years and returning to the planet would be suicidal.
We’re lucky that the station has sustainable food as well as regenerative water and oxygen, or I wouldn’t be here talking to empty air. The Mechanics and Engineers have completed their final checks on the ion thrusters and the station is ready for one last travel. It took a lot of work, but thanks to the space trash out here we were capable of turning the station into a ship, and now we’re only waiting for optimal alignment between Earth and Mars.
The UN Mars Colony is our only chance left of reuniting with some form of human civilization. Those locations have been operating as independent research facilities for multiple decades now, so hopefully they make for a long-term survival solution.
We depart in 2 days, may god watch over us on this journey. I’m not sure if it was intended for humans to be kicked out of their cradle, but maybe humanity needed this push to truly learn how to fly, who knows?
Our home is gone, we have no more natural bubble to shelter us from space. Our technology will be tested like never before, but I refuse to give up hope! We didn’t get this far only to lay down and die, and neither will my crew!
If you Equestrians are somehow picking up this message, then let it be said, maybe we’ll meet again someday somewhere among the stars.
Humanity will never forget you Terra, but sadly, we had to outlive you, and like every child, we must now stand on our own.
