Bright sunlight flooded Ponyville as residents rushed to prepare for Rainbow Dash's big birthday party. Ponies decorated the streets with colorful banners and rainbow balloons.

Pinkie Pie had been very careful this year, even more than usual, with her friend's birthday. And of course, all the ponies were more than happy to help with the celebration. Being one of the Mane Six has certain advantages.

Rainbow Dash, excited and full of energy, was flying from place to place, overseeing the preparations and making sure everything was perfect. She knew it was going to be an epic party, and while it obviously couldn't be a surprise, that didn't stop her from having fun.

Finally, it was time for the big celebration. Rainbow Dash's friends gathered at Sugarcube Corner, the tantalizing aroma of freshly baked cupcakes and cakes filled the air. Pinkie Pie, ever the perfect hostess, was busy juggling treats and entertaining guests with her overflowing joy.

After the birthday cake, Rainbow opened up the amount of gifts that came to her from all the guests. Mostly typical stuff, not the least of which was a new volume of Daring Do stories that Rainbow had been looking for for weeks.

"Oh, no, is that what I think it is Twi!" said Rainbow excitedly as she looked at the packaging that clearly contained a book inside. Twilight simply made a motion with her hoof inviting her to uncover it.

In less than a second, the wrapping paper turned to confetti and the book rested on Rainbow's hooves.

"Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you Twi!" Rainbow hugged Twilight profusely.

The other gifts included: A fashionable sports outfit, provided by Rarity. A 1:10 scale Replica of Rainbow made entirely out of chocolate, courtesy of Pinkie. A keg of freshly brewed Apple Cider, courtesy of Applejack, and a ticket to a Wonderbolts show in a month, courtesy of Fluttershy.

Rainbow effusively thanked all her friends and the other ponies who were present at the party. The celebration continued until the evening came, and everyone was already a bit touched by the citron. At the end of the night, each pony headed home.

At the door of Sugarcube Corner Rainbow was getting ready to leave, "Thanks for everything tonight Pinks, I had a great time, your parties never disappoint," she said as she quickly hugged Pinkie.

"Ah silly, this was meant to be a super darn super hyper mega special party," Pinkie bounced on her tail and pulled a confetti from somewhere deep in her hair.

"Okay Pinkie, see you tomorrow." said Rainbow Dash as she gave her friend a look of confusion and appreciation, and subsequently shot off for home; flying fast it didn't take her more than a couple of minutes to reach her cloud in Cloudsdale.

Upon entering and going up to her room, she found a small gift placed in the center of her bed.

Puzzled, Rainbow approached it a little at a time, constantly looking around until she was just a couple of centimeters away from the object.

"Uh... Hello, is anyone there?" she uttered into the air without getting a response."Emm... Okay, this is strange, but you 'don't look a gift pony in the mouth'. Come to think of it, that saying is a little strange, but whatever."

Grabbing the gift with her hooves, she unknotted the bow with her mouth and as if something was going to jump out from inside, she slowly opened the lid. Inside was nothing too special. "Lucky it's not a ticking time bomb", she thought to herself with some of her typical sarcasm.

The box contained a small figurine that looked like it was made of marble, the small imitation of a changeling, its pale gray color conveyed nothing, it was almost etheric.

Picking up the figurine she checked it carefully. It fit perfectly in her hoof, it was quite small, barely a couple of centimeters. At first glance you could tell it had been made with great care and dedication, the details of the wings, body and face were perfect, everything was in place.

"Well, this is a little strange, but I suppose it can be used as decoration... Uh, thanks, mysterious person" she said with a tone of sarcasm as she spoke to the empty room.

Leaving the figurine on her nightstand, she checked the box again, and found a small note.

"Dear Rainbow Dash... well, enough of formalities, this little toy you have in your hooves is not as simple as it looks, and I know you are going to have a lot of fun with it, however if I were you I would wait to be alone to know what it can truly do, when that time comes, you will know more... However, for now Auf Wiedersehen and enjoy your birthday present"

"Master and Lord of Chaos, Discord."

"Rainbow let out a small chuckle said "Well, that answers some questions, and does he really sign as 'Master and Lord of Chaos'?"

Rainbow looked over the letter again, reading aloud "...would I wait until I was alone if I were you, to find out what it can truly do? umm, that's odd. couldn't you include more instructions Discord?".

A note slipped out from somewhere in the original note, appearing almost spontaneously out of nowhere.

"That wouldn't be fun, but alright, I'll give you a hint. Think about what you want it to do - the sky's the limit, mare!"

Rainbow just rolled her eyes."What I want you to do, you couldn't be any more cryptic Discord?" She said as she picked up the figurine again, analyzing it, she had an idea, "Well, it's a changeling isn't it? Maybe it can shapeshift?"

"Become me" She said testing her theory.

Instantly the figurine seemed to react, the once nondescript gray color began to change to a vivid electric blue, a rainbow mane sprouted from her mane and tail, the pair of once insectoid wings, took on the shape of a pegasus, and her face was disfigured into the appearance of the original, eye color and every imaginable aspects was identical, even with a thin coat of fur replacing the hard marble.

Rainbow's eyes instantly widened at the transformation. "Oh, well, I must admit this looks cool," she said as she took a closer look at her mane and the details of the figurine. "It's a shame it's so small," Instantly, at Rainbow's words, the figurine began to grow in size, Rainbow tried to hold it up, but at a certain point it ended up falling to the ground perfectly upright.

It continued to grow until it was the size of Rainbow Dash.

She looked in shock at the figurine that was now a perfect replica of herself. "Okay Discord, this is interesting, this will definitely be a nice decoration, although, won't I look a bit self-centered having a sculpture of myself?" Rainbow pondered for a moment, "Nah, it's a decoration nothing more".

Moving closer to her own face she checked the details more closely, it was like looking into a mirror, a strange three dimensional mirror. Rainbow intended to touch the nose of her 'other self', as she did so she felt a strange touch on her own nose that made her startle and quickly withdraw her helmet, "Hey, what was that!" she looked around repeatedly before realizing, "Don't tell me that..." she said as she touched again, this time the flank of her replica. Again the feeling of being touched came over her.

"Discord, what kind of thing did you give me?" she said giving another glance at the dummy, this time inspecting it more closely as she flew over it in a roundabout way until something made her stop dead in her tracks and almost plummet to the ground.

"No, this can't be..." she said as she shakily approached the flanks of the replica, where, looking closer, an exact copy of her maternity and anus were tentatively embedded.

"Oh no, what is this, Discoooord!" She shouted into the air, but no one responded. "Well, th-this isn't soooooo bad, is it, is it?" A choked cry came from Rainbow as she flew erratically around the room, "Well, at least it can be disguised right, yeah, I can make it small and hide it in a drawer, or return it to its normal form, or, or..."

Rainbow stopped dead in her tracks.

"Go back to your original form" she pronounced without wasting any time.The toy reacted instantly, returning to the changeling figurine form it originally had.Rainbow let out a sigh of relief knowing she could hide it, that made things easier.

Picking up the toy she put it on her bedside table and went to sleep, or at least she tried to. The events of the last half an hour were going around in her head, hammering impassively. The ideas were churning in her mind, like a runaway horse, like an unstoppable locomotive, all this potpourri of ideas were crowding together, preventing Rainbow, despite having her eyes closed for a few hours now, from falling asleep.

Frustrated, Rainbow jumped up, turned on the light and tentatively approached the doll, hesitating for a moment as to what she was going to do next, but she continued. Gingerly picking up the doll, as if sensing it might break, she set it down in the center of the room. Discord's words echoed in her mind "It's not as simple as it looks", what more secrets could she have?

"Transform into Rainbow Dash" her voice trembled a little as she spoke her own name in the third person, but at least it seemed a little more impersonal that way.

As before, the doll gradually transformed into herself, the light blue fur, the rainbow mane that matched her tail, the pair of magnificent wings, the toned figure of her body, the eye color, everything was identical and although Rainbow couldn't see it as it was hidden by 'her tail', also her anatomy came into the roster. However, this time it was not necessary to tell it to grow to life size, the artifact grew to be the same height as Rainbow. This caught her attention slightly, since she had only thought about it.

An idea both terrifying and intriguing flashed through her mind at that moment as she realized what had happened.Inwardly she thought "make yourself small again", as if she had said it out loud, the doll began to shrink. This gave Rainbow new ideas.

After returning her doppelganger to its natural size, Rainbow began to experiment. First, she again touched one of its legs, and the phantom sensation overwhelmed her again.

Then she tried to do the same with its wing. tugging it slightly to see what the sensation was like, however, as she extended the dummy's wing, involuntarily her own wing stretched out. Rainbow let out a gasp covering her mouth with her own hooves, releasing the dummy's wing which returned to its natural state, allowing her own wing to move again.

"Okay, that's new," she said with a note of disbelief in her voice.

The ominous and prominent sun was rising beginning to illuminate Equestria another day. Celestia from her castle ate her breakfast as she watched the sunrise she was creating.

Before the dawn, Rainbow's mind began to scheme more interesting ideas as she saw what had just happened, "Transform into..."Rainbow hesitated for a moment if this was appropriate, but curiosity ended up being stronger, "Twilight".

Instantly, her appearance transformed as her fur melted, making way for her friend's signature lavender cloak. Her wings grew slightly, taking on the faithful shape of those of an alicorn. The shimmering, vibrant hues of her iconic rainbow mane suddenly faded, giving way to a new spectrum of colors, each strand of hair dyed in the soft, navy blue with streaks of pink and purple with straight tips belonging to Twilight. Her stature increased slightly and a horn manifested on her forehead, accompanied by eyes that darkened from magenta to purple.

Rainbow Dash could only hold her breath for the duration of the transformation.Cautious, as if the real Twilight was going to jump out of the quantum void just to scold her, she approached her friend's 'face', not daring to touch it, for fear that it might send the sensation to the real Twilight, she just stared. As in her case, everything, down to the tiniest hair were perfectly recreated, not an eyelash out of place.

Taking a breath at the thought of what she was about to do, slowly, wanting to prolong that moment so that guilt would not invade her afterwards, she approached the back of 'her friend'. Again, carefully, not wanting to touch a single hair on the replica, she looked.

As expected, even despite the limited visibility due to 'Twilight's tail', a pair of lips was majestically displayed, accompanied simply by slight creases in her entrance, likewise a little higher up, her second 'entrance' was visible to Rainbow. Extending a hoof she wanted to touch lightly, but the thought of what would happen if she did so stopped her inches away.

"No, Rainbow, what are you thinking, this is wrong, no, no, no, no..." she said as she walked away covering her face with her hooves, a slight blush was starting to show on her cheeks, and clearly the temperature was rising, and not from the morning sun.

"No, this isn't right, it shouldn't, but... No, don't even think about it!" Rainbow paced around the room not knowing whether to listen to her moralistic side or have a little fun that the very gentle and not at all psychotic Discord had gifted her with this 'toy'. With every second, that idea sounded more tempting, "This... What would Twilight do in this situation?"

"Remember Rainbow, the scientific method is very useful when you are looking to solve problems, first you have to come up with a hypothesis and by a series of steps you go about testing the stability of your model..." said an imaginary Twilight from a very boring lecture on 'The importance of organization and structured planning in steps during the process of deducing social behaviors and how magical concepts have influenced the technological condition throughout Equestria's history. Part I'

"Ahh. what a boring lecture, even the name is unnecessarily boring" Rainbow Dash thought to herself, "However, what Twilight said about trying it out, isn't necessarily a bad idea, I hope so"

"Go back to your original form" She said addressing the doll, it quickly complied with the instructions.

Grabbing it she quickly left her house heading for Ponyville with a new mission.
