The Legend Ends
Chapter IV - Ghosts From The Future
Previous ChapterAdjusting to my new life on Maretime Bay wasn't too hard. The ponies of town did seem a bit suspicious about me though, some of them even screamed when they first saw me. Unlike the ponies from 1000 years ago, these ones did not have the slightest idea of what a human is. However, with the help of Sunny and Hitch (who seem to be pretty influential figures around town) I managed to "fit in" in about a week.
I didn't want to be too much of an economic burden to Sunny, so I volunteered myself to help her at whatever job she did. It turns out that she sells smoothies for a living, certainly unexpected, but also not unwelcomed. Apparently, earth ponies now have magic. Sunny grows all of the fruits she uses for her smoothies at a community garden that's near her brighthouse, but she also uses her magic to create weird fruit combinations. I never thought that I'd ever see a fruit that is both a banana and a watermelon, but here we are.
What I had to do was simple: mainly, I had to transport the fruits from the garden into her small store, which was near the center of the town. I figured that using magic to lift the boxes would be easier and more efficient. The other thing I did was, once all the fruits that she'd use for the day were at her little store, make her company. It wasn't like there was any other thing to do, and she liked to mix the fruits on her own.
"I just don't understand how technology developed so quickly in just 1000 years." I told Sunny during a morning in which there were not too much custumers. "Equestria didn't develop it in 20000 years. What makes this millenium different?"
About two weeks had already passed since I arrived here.
"Maybe it has something to do with the fact that Equestria had magic back in those days." she answered while pressing a button to turn on her mixer. "Why would anypony invest time, energy, or resources to develop a way to make a chatting app when all they had to do was send a letter magically?"
She was ignorant to the fact that sending a letter to anypony back in those days required you to be a unicorn or have a dragon or unicorn to help you, but I could understand her point.
"I see." I answered.
"Good morning, Sunny! Good morning, William!" Izzy said as she approached us. "How's everything going?"
"Fine." I replied.
"Excellent!" Sunny exclaimed. "What brings you to my humble store today? A tasty watermelon/banana smoothie perhaps?"
"No, but I certainly could use one of those right now!"
"No problem." Sunny answered as she placed said franken-fruit in a second mixer. "What is it then?"
"Zipp wants you and William to go to Canterlogic as soon as posible. By the tone of her voice, it sounded really serious."
"Is it one of her numerous mysteries?" I asked.
"Perhaps." the purple unicorn replied as she grabbed the smoothie Sunny had just finished with her purple magic. "But by the look on her face, she seemed rather scared to death!" she exclaimed in a strangely happy voice.
"Wait, what? What's going on?" Sunny asked.
"I don't know. You'll have to go for yourselves to find out!" she exclaimed before she left trotting cheerfully.
Sunny and I looked at each other.
"Is she always like that?" I asked her.
"Ever since the day I met her. Don't worry, you eventually get used to it."
"I think that I could've met one of her ancestors. Anyway, we shold go. If that wasn't some form of sarcasm that I'm not aware of, Zipp might need our immediate help."
After closing the store, we headed up a hill to Canterlogic. From what Sunny has told me, it used to be a place that manufactured artifacts to protect earth ponies from pegasi and unicorns. After she and her friends managed to reunite the three pony races, the place got abandoned. As we appoached the building, we saw Zipp at the door of the facility, who was walking in circles while muttering things to herself. Once she noticed us, she quickly ran towards us. Just as Izzy had anticipated us, she appeared to have seen a ghost.
"Sunny! William! I'm so glad to see you both! You won't belive what I saw. It was here, then it was bigger, and then..."
"Whoah!" I said. "Hold on a second, Zipp. Organize your ideas before talking."
"Sorry, you're right." she replied, still breathing heavily. "I was flying through the sky, when I saw a flashing light emanating from Canterlogic. I, of course, went to investigate, and then... I saw it."
"What did you see?" Sunny asked.
"It... is hard to describe. I never saw anything like it. It's even weirder than William!... No offense intended." she added with an embarrassed face.
"None taken." I replied.
"I do not think it's dangerous. It might be better if I showed it to you so you can see for yourselves."
We headed to Canterlogic's main entrance. Once we arrived, Zipp opened the glass door with her forehoof and we got inside. The place had clearly seen better days. There were spiedrwebs around most corners, dust covered the entire floor, and no light worked.
"I don't see anything." I said.
"Are you sure that you didn't imagine things?" Sunny questioned her friend. "The movie we saw last night might have had an effect on your active imagination."
"I swaer that it was here!" she exclaimed frustrated. "Maybe it escaped from this place."
"What do you mean? Does that thing have legs?"
"Yes!... well, not exactly. It's complicated to describe, as I told you."
Then, for our amazement, some kind of blue orb started to levitate behind Zipp. Once the white pegasus saw our faces, she turned around to see it as well.
"See? I told you that I saw something!"
Then, the orb emited a blinding flash of light that made me cover my eyes. When I regained my eyesight, I saw what the blue orb had turned into: The best thing I can say about it is that it was an android, although it didn't seem very human-like. It had two legs and two limbs that appeared to be arms, although they were unnaturally thin. Upon closer examination, one could notice that said limbs weren't in fact connected to the chest and were just floating close to it. The entire thing was made of some kind of white material, either plastic, metal, or some kind of strange alloy between the two. Its chest was hallow and exposed, inside it there was the blue orb Zipp initially saw, only bigger and brighter. Its head was composed of the same white material. It was more like a curved-shaped helmet with a long curved white horn on its front to be honest. Inside it, another blue orb (smaller than the first one) resided.
The... creature? stared at us for about five seconds, the longest and strangest seconds of my life untill this point, and that's a new record. Then the blue orb inside its head tured to an intense crimson red.
"Oh, it's you, William." a robotic voice emanated from the android. "I never thought that it'd be that easy."
In less than a quarter of a second, that thing tackled me and started to punch me frenetically. Its two arms moved so fast that I received more than ten strong punches right in my stomach per second. I felt how oxygen left my lungs first, then I felt the pain. The world around me started to blackout as my brain couldn't process what was happening.
Then, the thing stopped.
I tried to regain my composure as quickly as possible. Even though I stood up, I knew that I could fall at any moment. I barely lightened up my sword and weilded it with both of my hands against the creature (not because it was optimal to do it that way, but because I lacked the strength to weild it with just one hand). It was levitating enveloped by a golden aura. It turns out that that thing has pushed me so hard that we were now outside of Canterlogic.
"STOP!" I heard Sunny scream from Canterlogic's main entrance. Despite being told that she could transform into an alicorn, I never actually saw her doing it until now. She had ethereal golden-like pair of wings and a horn, which was glowing even brighter, perhaps because it was being used to hold the creature still in mid air. "WHAT THE HAY IS WRONG WITH YOU!?"
The thing didn't answer her; in fact, it seemed to had ignored her completely. The only thing it did was to try to free itself freneticaly from Sunny's magical grip.
"Who are you?"I asked it. No reply. "How do you know my name?" still no reply. "What do you want?"
It finally stopped moving for a second. "You have seen nothing yet." It was the last thing it said. Then, it's horn started to glow in a light blue aura and, after a sudden flash, it vaished.
I dropped my blade, which vanished even before reaching the ground. I took a quick look at my stomach and... I don't quite remember. I don't know if I collapsed out of horror, bleeding, exhaustion, or a combination of all of the above. I just remember that I saw a lot of red and that my t-shirt was beyond repairing.

My life had been a mess since that purple alicorn named Opaline humiliated me. After William vanished from the vault by shouting 'one thousand years', Opiline did the same and her magical grip stopped holding me back. I never saw her after that. I never thought that being immortal could be a bad thing, but wen the entire world hates you and you have to live outside of any kind of civilization, it surely gets frustrating.
I was aware of the fall of the Equestrian Kingdom. I never knew why it fell though. I did, however, saw that all that remained of it were the ashes of war. At first, I was expecting to disappear at any moment. Who knows what Opaline would do with that scroll, but, after the first century of not being erased from existence had passed, I figured that, whatever she changed about history, it didn't involve me.
Today, however, was an interesting day, I had lost the exact count, but I'm pretty sure that at least one thousand years had passed since William disappeared. I expect him to appear and be a pain in the ass once again. So I went to check the last remaining pony cities to check if he was anywhere to be found... with an invisibility spell, of course. I didn't want to be seen now.
No sight of him in Zephir Heights, also none in Bridlewood either. The ponies of said places seemed a lot happier than usual though. Weird.
But when I went to Maretime Bay, I found him. He surely makes friends quickly. A young mare already allowed im to ride on her back... No, wait... he wasn't riding, he was being carried and... was that blood?
I was about to go inside the city and see for myself when, suddenly, a robotic voice caught my attention from behind.
"I wouldn't go there if I were you. The fake alicorn turned to be a lot more powerful than what I initially thought for this time period."
"What do you want?" I asked the weird alien-like white creature in front of me.
"Help you." It replied.
Author's Note
I'm sorry for leaving this story abandoned for so long. I have an excuse though: starting university is a lot time consuming than what I thought. The story will continue. Expect weekly chapters from now on. I don't wanna leave it unfinished. I promise that, unless something really bad happens to me, the Legend Saga will have an end.
Enjoy :D
As always, I accept suggestions.
