“WHAT?! No way! Are you KIDDING?! There is no way I'm staying on the ground for another week!"
Rainbow Dash sat on the steel table in the main examination room of Dr. Wellhoof as he looked at the picture of her X-ray on the lightbox on the wall. He turned to her, “Rainbow Dash, you are lucky it wasn’t worse” She avoided his gaze. The doctor paused, “Rainbow - Is everything alright? First the collision with the practice hoop last week and now this rough landing after I told you not to train. What’s going on?”
“Nothing! It’s, uh, just, I hit a downdraft last week and you grounded me and since then I’ve been going nuts not being able to fly, so maybe I was a little careless.”
“Is that all?”
“Yeah - I’m stuck giving the newbies lessons in the classroom, which isn’t exactly my thing, you know?”
“Well maybe that’s a good change - build mental muscle while your body heals.”.
“Yeah, well they’re more interested in hearing about all the stuff I did as part of the Mane Six. I mean don’t get me wrong I love my fans and telling them all that stuff, but I really need to get up there and work off - I mean get down some of the new routines.
The doctor looked at her and raised an eyebrow.
Dash sneered at him, “No-" she said petulantly, "It's definitely not that!” She blushed, “besides, I thought we agreed we wouldn't ever talk about that again.”
“No, you agreed never to speak of that again. We both know it’s about a week away.”
Rainbow Dash blushed and looked away from him, “Sorry, no what you're talking about.”
“You know exactly what I’m talking about - your estrus. Your menstrual cycle. A week or so before it starts, you seem to - well you get more of a certain type of energy. You described it to me last time - remember? And I offered you a book that among other things told you that there are ways of addressing your frustrations."

Dash looked around for anypony that might be listening, then back at him and in an exasperated whisper, said, “Why don’t you just announce it to all of Equestria?"
"Ms Dash - As I explained to you last time, when it comes to these things, - you need learn to be ‘cool with it.’

The doctor rolled his eyes, "Well I'm certainly glad to hear that."

The doctor looked at her, “Rainbow Dash, you should have learned about more than your period at least five years ago. I can’t believe you haven’t figured how to please yourself sexually on your own.”
"No, because it’s like freaking disgusting and perverted and embarrassing, and there’s nothing that could feel good enough to do that. It’s humiliating.”
"I wish you would read some of the books in the library that talk about sexual health. You should at least.read about your reproductive organs. That conversation we had about estrus was almost more than I could handle. Masturbation is just part of sex"

The doctor muttered, "You'd lose that bet by a mile."
"What?? You mean she doesn't know about it?"
"Just the bare minimum - like you and the other four”
"Wait, they don’t know anything about it either? That means if I learn about it, then I'll sort of be like the expert!"
"Well, yes I suppose that's true.” The doctor saw an opening "And once again, as I said, there are a number of excellent books I could recommend."
"Yeah, and once again I was afraid you'd say that. Can I go now?”
“Promise me you won’t fly until I give you the all-clear. And you’ll take it easy on your front left hoof.”
The young pony rolled her eyes, “Yeah, sure.”
“Rainbow? Say it.”
“I promise I won’t fly, and I’ll take care of my left front hoof. Are we cool now?” she grumbled.
“Just one more thing. You can get down now.”
Dash slid off the exam table and onto the floor. She lowered herself down to where she was standing on all fours. “OW!”
“What did you just promise me? That hoof is going to hurt for a while.”
“No kidding - look, I gotta go. Thanks Doc.”
“Not so fast, Nurse Starling is getting your crutch - just in case.”
"Who? What happened to Nurse Warm Heart?"
"She retired. Nurse Starling is excellent, though. She's young, but she’s examined all my files and become quite familiar with all my patients, their exams and test results, when they’re due for their physicals, exams, etc."
Dash's eyes flew open wide. There was one test she never wanted to have again, “I really gotta go!” She hobbled to the door as fast as she could, but it opened before she got there the door from the exam room opened.
A very cute pegasi nurse with big blue eyes and a blonde mane stood there holding a crutch and a file folder. She was only a few years older than Rainbow Dash. Rainbow Dash stood there frozen with her jaw hanging down as she watched the young nurse walk toward the doctor with an air of professionalism and confidence. She turned to Rainbow Dash, smiled and nodded. She seemed to be struggling with something. Finally she closed her eyes for a moment, drew a deep breath and extended her hoof..
"Oh, uh, hi, my name is Starling Nurseholly, I mean Nurse Hollystar. I mean I'm a nurse and my name is Holly Starling and I’m a…"
The doctor rolled his eyes.
The nurse continued, "...a huge fan! I'm sorry, Doctor - I know I should act more professional, but this is Rainbow Dash!" She turned to Rainbow, “I don’t think I’ve missed more than five of your shows.”
Dash was still processing what she was seeing. “You're-" Dash started to blurt out, then stopped, "Uh, oh yeah, I thought you looked a little familiar. Nice to meet you."
The nurse looked down and spoke sadly, "You're probably thinking of a mare from your Wonderbolt team, she's my cousin - Misty Fly. You saved her life-"
"-when Rarity kicked her in the head at the Young Fliers competition, yeah, I remember."
'Thanks again for that - our family puts you up there with the princesses. Anyway, we're almost twins,. except I'm-"
Dash, still somewhat fazed, looked at her and mumbled "Yeah, blonde and with a tan coat, and blue eyes…"
"Are you okay Ms. Dash?" the nurse asked.
'Huh?" Dash cleared her head with a shake, "Sorry, you look a lot like Misty, but, uh, different." Dash paused a moment, then asked, "Why didn't she ever introduce us?"
Holly looked down again, "Because I'm not exactly the most popular one in the family. Don't get me wrong, we all, you know, love each other, it's just that some of us aren't all that well thought of, and Misty is pretty famous.."
"What do you mean, you're not the 'most popular?'"
"Both my brother's are Buckball stars."
"Wait - are your brother's Whipball and Buck Starling?! Woah!"
"Yes, and the 'Great Misty Fly' is my cousin. In fact almost everypony in my family is great at sports, except me. I'm no good at them, besides, I love medicine, so I became a nurse and I'm studying to be a doctor."
"Yeah? So what? That's pretty awesome."
"I'm not exactly anypony's favorite. Misty barely talks to me. She says I let down my whole family by not trying harder to find a sport I was good at. Most of them feel the same way."
"WHAT?! That's ridiculous! How could they treat a pony like you that way?"
"Huh?" asked Holly, surprised.
"I mean," Dash stammered, "You're like a nurse and you're going to be a doctor. A bunch of jocks don't think that's important? Wait'll I talk to Misty!"
"Please don't! Please don't even mention that I know you or that I work here."
"You sure?"
"Yes."
"Okay. So are you taking over all of nurse Warm Heart's stuff - I mean doing exams and everything?”
"Yes," the doctor answered, "she's assuming all her responsibilities, why do you ask, Ms Dash?"
"Ob, uh,no offense, she just seems a little young, that's all."
The doctor cleared his throat, "I assure you she's more than capable. So Nurse Starling, what can you tell me about our star patient?"
“I've only had time to read part of her file, let’s see." she cleared her throat, "It looks like she’s a bit overdue for reflex testing. Her vision isn't due for another month. And her hearing testing & ear exam are due today, which you already took care of.” Dash looked at her in nervous anticipation, The Nurse went on, “And she’s up to date on her wings and pectorals, She should have a followup x-ray of her wing and spine from the crash at the Wonderbolts All Star Supreme Spectacular show.”
“Is that it?” the doctor asked.
“Yes - that’s it,” the young nurse said cheerfully.
Dash breathed a huge sigh of relief, “That’s it? I mean, yeah, that sounds like everything. You sure are a great nurse at getting all my tests and not leaving any out. You know as a welcome aboard kind of thing I can get you a couple of free tickets to the next Wonderbolts show.”
“Really?? That’s so thoughtful! Thank you so much!”
“No problem - Anytime.” Dash went to lift her foreleg for a gentle high hoof and accidentally knocked the folder out of the nurses’ hoof, spreading the papers across the floor. “Ooops, sorry.”
“Oh, don’t be silly,” The nurse bent over and started picking up the papers. As she picked up the last one, she looked at it and began to read it. The red blush started at her neck and went up to her cheeks.
The Doctor raised an eyebrow “What is that?”
The nurse looked at Dash apologetically, “Oh, um’ well, it’s the notes from her last pelvic exam.”
“Ah,” the doctor comments, “When was that? Do you recall Rainbow?”
Rainbow closed her eyes and clapped her hoof to her forehead, then looked up clearly feigning confusion, “Who? Oh, uh me? It was like a month or two ago,” she said, and smiled weakly.
"Is that right, nurse?"
The nurse seemed somewhat uncomfortable, “Oh, well, it says here you’re slightly overdue. Nothing to worry about..”
“Really?” the doctor asked sarcastically, turning to Dash, “How much overdue?”
The nurse smiled at Dash apologetically, “Almost a year.”
Dash scowled at her.
“A year? Really - that long?” The doctor said to Dash, who smiled weakly again.
Dash feigned surprise and backed up toward the door, “That long? Who knew? Well, I’ll get back to you and let you know when I’m available, and you can pencil me in. See ya-” Dash headed straight for the door.
"STOP right there Ms. Rainbow Dash!" The doctor ordered. Dash froze
“I think we can pencil you in for right now.” The doctor captured her in a magic field and lifted her, “Nurse, would you get the mare exam room ready? The stirrups are in the closet with the traction equipment”
“Very well, doctor,” she said and went into the next room.
Dash looked at the Doctor and gritting her teeth, muttered, “I can’t. believe you would even mention those things in front of your nurse.”
“You didn’t object to having Nurse Warm Heart assist me.”
“Yeah, well she was like a hundred - Nurse Starling is around my age!”
“Rainbow Dash, she is a professional who is studying for her MD.”
“Yeah, well you can talk about that stuff in front of her with another patient. I’d appreciate it if she wasn’t in here imagining me in there with my hooves in those stirrup things while you're examining me!”
“Don’t worry Ms. Dash, I assure you she won’t be.”
“Yeah, well how can you be so sure?”
“Because she’s going to be in that room with us assisting me.”
Dash stared at him, unable to speak for a moment. “Okay, that’s it, I’m outta here.”
“You’re doing no such thing, Nurse Starling is going to be assisting me with your examination and you are going to treat her with respect. Is that clear? ”
“But- Uh, can’t we just go to nurse Warm Heart’s house and she can help you, you know, for old times sake?" Dash's eyes went to the door that led into the mare examination room, "You can’t let her see me with my legs up in those things - what if she’s a perv?”
The doctor laughed, “I assure you, Nurse Starling is anything but a pervert."
“Yeah, well I’m going to find another doctor.”
Rainbow Dash, still held in the doctor’s magic field, found herself being carried into the next room. The table had a thin cushion mattress on it and the back was tilted up at an angle. The two stirrups were in place and Dash looked at them as though they were the most deadly inventions ever made. “One moment doctor.”
Dash heard the voice of the nurse behind her. She watched as the nurse came over with a very large blanket and began to unfold it. “Here Ms. Dash, hold this end.” Dash noticed it was very warm as the nurse draped it over her stomach and took the bottom of the blanket and draped it up and over the top of the stirrups and then down in front of them, covering Dash’s lower half. She smiled sweetly, “There, how’s that?”
Rainbow smiled at her in amazement, "Thanks," Her tone was heartfelt and soft..
"It's nothing."
Dash looked over at the doctor, who smiled at her in an odd way. “So Doc, why didn’t Nurse Warm Heart ever cover me like this?” The doctor only smiled at her. Dash looked back at the nurse, “In case you heard what I said before, I-I’m sorry about that, it’s just that, it’s just that you’re like almost my age…”
“It’s okay. I’ve been on that table too, you know.”
Dash smiled, “Yeah, I hadn’t thought of that. If you don't mind would it be okay if you took your notes up here on this side of the curtain blanket thing, you know on my side?” The nurse looked at the doctor, who was clearly becoming angry, He looked at Dash then at her, and kindly said to the nurse,
“You know what Nurse Starling, I think it’s time for you to perform a pelvic exam and provide the pertinent information while I take notes and assist and I think our patient here would be a great place to begin.”
Dash's eyelids flew open wide and she propped herself up on her elbows, "Wait - WHAT?! HER?” she yelled. “She’s barely out of hospital school! I don’t want her looking down there! It would be like having Twilight or Applejack see it, like one of my friends.”
The doctor was clearly getting fed up with Dash’s prudishness. He looked at her and spoke very sternly. “Rainbow Dash, Nurse Holly Starling is a professional. She graduated top of her class and has performed plenty of exams on plenty of mares in medical school. You may be one of the Mane Six and the top flier of the Wonderbolts, but you're still a mare. There's nothing you have down there that she hasn’t seen before, and you have to get over your shyness!" He turned to his nurse, "Please begin the exam nurse. Give me your clipboard and I’ll take notes!"
The nurse adopted a very serious and professional demeanor, “Very well, Patient name- Rainbow Dash, Pegasus…” she went on with the vitals, As she pulled back on one of Dash’s eyelids he interrupted her.
“Nurse, I asked you to perform a pelvic exam, not a general or an optical one. Proceed with the questions and begin the examination. I expect you to be on 'this side of the curtain,' Is that clear?”
“Yes, doctor. Ms. Dash, have you noticed any changes since your last exam?”
“No.”
The Doctor interrupted, “Rainbow Dash, in anticipation of your typical reluctance to see me I keep a number of cups of Vintage Apple Cider in my freezer as you well know. Presently you are in grave danger of forfeiting that cup unless you start complying. Do I make myself clear?"
Rainbow Dash closed her eyes in frustration, “Okay, FINE!” she turned to the nurse, “Sometimes I get a, you know, get a little… Look, I’m really uncomfortable with this. Do we really have to do this?” she whined.
“This is important.” the nurse said, suddenly becoming serious. When she saw the reaction on Dash's face she eased a little. “All I’ve got a cherry hardpop, but it’s yours if you’d like it.”
Rainbow Dash raised an eyebrow, “So you just happened to have my favorite candy in your pocket? Um, is that in my chart?” she asked skeptically.
“No, not exactly.”
“You read it was my favorite in one of those fan magazines, didn’t you?”
“Perhaps.”
Dash smiled at her again, "Thanks."
The nurse blushed, “Sure, so what else can you tell me about any changes?”
Dash sighed, “Well if you have to know, it gets sort of, you know, tingley down there. Like it’s kind of itchy, and it feels heavy, kind of achy.”
“Is there any discharge?”
“From the ‘bolts’? No WAY! Neither honorable or dishonorable - They’re all top flyers,.”
“No, I meant discharge from your vagina.” She saw Dash wince at the word and blush, as though it was painful to hear it.. “Do you ever have any wetness other than urine?”
“Uh, well, maybe.". She paused, "Okay, yes.”

Dash looked at her coldly "I think I'll stick with Nurse Starling for now. "
A fleeting expression of hurt passed over the nurse's face. "Okay Rainbow, I'm going to lift the blanket and proceed with the examination, is that okay?"
"Well, it's not exactly like I have a choice."
"Rainbow Dash, don't worry, it's going to be okay."
Dash was just about to say "Yeah, that's easy for you to say,” but then she looked at Holly's face and was surprised to see she was as embarrassed as Rainbow was..
“Okay?” Holly asked. Dash could tell by the tone that she wasn’t telling her to get her ready, it was more of a, "I’m not going to proceed until you’re ready. Are you ready now?" tone.
“O-okay. And thanks,... Holly.". The smile on the nurse's face was followed by a deep blush.
"No problem… Rainbow." The nurse kept her head above the draped blanket and looked at Dash's face as she reached under the blanket to help Dash place her hooves in the stirrups. Both of them giggled as Holly tried to find her legs and Dash tried to find her hooves. Once they were in place, she raised the blanket and folded it over the stirrups, leaving the other part to drape down to Rainbow Dash’s chest. The nurse then looked down between her spread legs.
When not aroused, all that could be seen of a Pony mare’s vagina was a simple cleft that started several inches under the tail and came up around between the legs and a little way up the front so that when a mare stood on her hind legs, her cleft was slightly visible. Seen from behind when she was walking, if you pulled her tail aside, you could see the part in the coat. Rainbow scowled at her, “Yeah, well that’s because I’m a very private pony and that’s nopony’s business.”
Nurse Starling’s patience was growing thin, “Ms. Dash, before we give you clearance to fly, you must have this exam. Do I make myself clear? It’s now Friday at 5:15 and we should have completed your exam twenty minutes ago. Doctor Wellmane wants to get home to his family and I need to get home and soak in a nice, hot, relaxing bath before my coltfriend takes me out for dinner. You are holding all that up. I’ve been patient and understanding with you. I understand that you’re very embarrassed about all this, but the sooner we get this over with, the sooner we can all start our weekends, okay?”
Dash rolled her eyes and sighed, “Yeah, go ahead, start the show..”
Holly watched as the muscles surrounding Rainbow Dash’s vagina began to relax. “That’s better. As the doctor said, I've done-" The nurse's eyes suddenly opened wide open as she stared with a mix of shock and amazement. She swallowed hard.
Dash instantly pulled her hooves from the stirrups, brought her legs together and turned on her side. “That’s it, I’m out of here- nopony gets a free look atmy pussy - doctor, nurse, or anypony else!”

She stepped away and grabbed a chair, and pulled it up and sat down next to Dash. She took the young flier’s hoof in hers and looked at her. Dash pulled it away, "I don't like ponies touching my hooves,” she said in a nasty tone. Dash banged the stirrups hard as she put her rear hooves back in them.
“I’m so sorry Rainbow Dash, what I did was completely out of line. I know that you’re embarrassed, I completely understand.”
“I seriously doubt that.”
“Maybe we got off to a bad start, so I’m going to be completely honest with you You should know that I doubt I will ever have this particular conversation with any other patient, ever, but you’re kind of a special patient, and certainly a special pony, at least I think that’s why I’m telling you." she held up a shaking hoof, "Can you see my hoof shaking?”
Dash, still angry, looked at it, with uncertainty “Yeah - why?”

“Really? Is this how you treat your heroes? And something else, I get that you’re a fan, but you’re older than me - how could I be your hero?”

The doctor cleared his throat, “Tell her the rest of it, Nurse Starling.”
