Dreams and Determination
Chapter 1: Introductions
Load Full StoryAsriel Dreemurr stood up, his eyes widened as he stared at his hands. He touched his face feeling fur, he cheered with joy “I’m me again!” He began to cry “I can feel again.” He chuckled to himself as he heard the sound of movement “Who’s hiding in those bushes?”
A blade materialised in Asriel's hand as five wolves made of wood, four of them were his height but the fifth was five times his height. A manic look filled his eyes as the five wolves leapt toward him.
Asriel ducked under the largest wolf, his blade slicing at the smaller wolves, turning them into kindling. He turned to face the largest wolf, only for the sound of the wolves behind him slowly reforming. He grinned madly as he clicked his fingers, the reforming wolves bursting into flame.
As the wolf's remains turned to ash, Asriel’s eyes changed to a dull red. His body glowed with power for a moment before settling down. The largest wolf leapt at him with fangs out, he summoned a second blade and with a barrage of rapid slashes sliced the larger wolf into pieces before incinerating it with a ball of fire. The red in his eyes shifted into a fierce crimson.
Asriel was about to leave the clearing when a light flashed behind him. He turned around, his eyes widened as he saw his sister Chara before him. He vanished his blades, running over to hug her “CHARA!”
Chara was stunned at the sudden hug, it was warm and comfortable. She returned the hug, her eyes widened as she saw who it was “ASRIEL! You're alive!” The siblings held each other tight, tears dripping from their eyes. Their small frames trembled.
The moment was ruined by a large howl cutting through the air, Chara looked at Asriel with concern “What was that?”
Asriel growled as he stood up, they were surrounded by hundreds of glowing green eyes staring from beyond the tree line. A humongous wooden wolf thirty times larger than the other Timberwolves, Asriel scowled “You interrupted our reunion!” He summoned a single blade, igniting it in flames. He rushed at the creature dodging it’s claws before slicing it clean in half, the two sides vaporised in a burst of flame. His crimson eyes glowed brighter.
The glowing green eyes vanished from the surrounding area. Asriel frowned “Chara, we need to get out of this forest before something bad happens.”
Chara held tight to Asriel “I agree.” The two moved slowly through the forest, Asriel frowned “This place is filled with dense magic,I have an idea to grant us passage out of this forest.”
Asriel closed his eyes, magic reaching out from his body in a dim glow of green, red and white. The forest began to glow a fierce green in response, his magic pulses and the forest responded in kind. A set of trees to their right parted as the forest’s magic pulses once more. Asriel’s magic retreated into himself as he opened his eyes, Asriel turned to Chara “We will find a small town that way. The forest would rather we don’t return to it.”
Chara looked around before nodding “I agree.”
The siblings headed through the parted path, seeing a small town visible to them. They raised an eyebrow at the coloured equines walking around. A pink pony with a poofy mane approached them slowly, a serious look in her eyes “Follow me, I’ll show you around town.”
They made their way through the quaint little town, the ponies eyeing them warily. They soon arrived at a building that looked like it was made of sweets. The pink pony let Chara and Asriel in, she took them up to her room.
The pink pony rubbed her neck “My name is Pinkie Pie, I got a shiver down my spine when you two entered town. I’m usually more energetic than this, that’s why we were getting odd looks.”
Asriel frowned at Pinkie “Is your name really Pinkie Pie? That seems a bit on the nose.”
Pinkie chuckled “Well, ponies are often named very simply. Lyra Heartstrings plays a lyre so well that it tug on your heartstrings and her friend Bon Bon makes the best bon bons in town.” She then frowned at Chara “Speaking of which, Lyra can get a bit crazy about humans and given you seem to be a human so you might get some unwanted attention.”
Chara gritted her teeth “I hate humanity, every last one of them.”
Pinkie sighed, “I don’t think it is healthy to hate your own kind.” She then shakes her head before Chara could respond “I can’t change your stance on the matter. Just don’t let that hatred ruin your life.”
Chara grimaced “I already did that once. I will waste my second chance.”
Pinkie then smiled “Enough sad stuff, what do you like for parties?”
Asriel raised an eyebrow “Why does that matter? Are you the type who throws parties for every new guest who arrives in town?”
Pinkie grinned “Yes actually. I'm a party pony, I throw parties.”
Chara smiled at the party pony “Well I like chocolate.” She then turned to Asriel “Do you want anything?”
Asriel frowned “It’s been too long, I’ve forgotten what food tastes like to be honest.” He then shook his head “I’m going to find us a place to stay, I’ll return here when I’m done.” Asriel walked out of Pinkie's room and then out of Sugarcube Corner.
As he did so a rainbow Pegasus dived down, shouting at him“What are you doing here? Are you a secret servant of Nightmare Moon back for vengeance!”
Asriel growled “I don’t even know who that is, now leave me alone!”
The rainbow Pegasus swung hoof at his face, Asriel spun around abiding the attack and punching the mare in the gut “You are testing the extent of my mercy.” He then whispers in her ear “I can save over your death. I could kill you over and over again. The only one who would remember that you died would be me.” Her eyes widened as Asriel walked away with a cruel smirk on his face. His smirk vanished as he heard screaming.
