Load Full StoryNext ChapterTwilight was no stranger to the sciences of attraction and what not. She knew just about everything about anything when it came to science. As long as the evidence was there and the outcome was logical, she could figure it out.
What she struggled with was the more nonlinear aspect of life, specifically emotions. Navigating social situations definitely wasn’t her strong point. Thats not entirely her fault, though, she was raised to be very studious. So what if it affected how she interacted with others? Who needs to understand social boundaries anyway!
Well. Apparently socialising and normalising human connection is far more important than Twilight realised. After her… incident… with Midnight Sparkle, it was safe to say she’s had a certain infatuation with her saviour. It wasn’t something she was proud of. It felt like a blemish on her social track record. Her first real friendship in years and she just had to go and make it creepy.
On the outside, her friendship wish Sunset was as normal as it could be. They hung out frequently outside of school, they studied together, they did video calls. It was nothing out of the ordinary for a high-school friendship. Twilight treated the rest of her new friends the same, albeit she usually had Sunset by her side. Twilight tended to refrain from hanging out with the other girls alone, it made her feel anxious. With Sunset, however, all those anxious feelings just seemed to melt away into pure infatuation.
Twilight tried to keep this obsession to herself. She didn’t want any of her new friends to think of her differently, she couldn’t afford it. She didn’t have anywhere else left to go if she blew this. So, Twilight found other ways to stay close to Sunset. She implemented a back door into Sunset’s phone so that she could access her camera at any time. Not to be creepy, of course, just to make sure she’s safe. Safe in the comfort of her own home..
Maybe it was a bit of a stretch, but Twilight was determined to find the logic in her actions. Logic and reason were all that she knew. It was hard to give that up, even in the face of this obsessive behaviour.
Like all things, it would probably pass soon enough, Twilight just had to wait it out.
And while she waits, she can silently watch Sunset through her camera.
