He dove just under a flock of noisy geese, narrowly missing them with his head so far in the clouds. The mountains beneath him came into view, at which point, he began to dive down, cutting through clouds like a hot knife through butter. The pristine alabaster walls of Canterlot came closer into view as he spread his wings elegantly to break his dive. Effortlessly he soared through the traffic of every creature coming and going around the city, the hum and smell of the industrious city assaulted his senses. Ever since Twilight had taken her place as ruler of Equestria, Canterlot had become a global hub for trade and traffic, the city swelling in density.
Weaving through the web of buildings, powerlines, and flying creatures to and fro, Soarin navigated the busy streets to the garden district. Separated from the rest of the city were large manors on walled plots of land, each a distinct architectural and cultural wonder from all across Equestria. At the end the road he was on was a large saddle-arabian sandstone mansion, with tall emerald hedges bordering it on all ends. Out of his jumpsuit he pulled out a business card, looking it over in his hoof, it was bright gold, with black letters adorning the front. ‘Sensational Stoneworks’ simply said, no other information was given except the street address of the impressive estate he was now at.
Walking up to the front of the estate, he saw various statues of every kind of creature standing on ornate plinths, an unmatched pair dotting the trail to the front doors every dozen paces or so. They were of excellent make and quality, life size in scale, and finely detailed down to the minutest details. He caught himself looking at a Unicorn mare statue by the door, that looked ahead confidently, adorned in ancient armor, holding a spear at the ready. He turned his attention to the heavy, redwood doors before him, easily 20 feet tall, he grabbed the gold knocker on the door, giving the door a few resounding knocks.
A Few moments passed before the door crept open, A Grey pegasus mare with long flowing white hair greeted him with a glassy idle stare. Adorned with stockings and a maid dress the young servant mare spoke with a gentle, calm tone in her voice.
”Master Soarin’” She said. ”The Mistress of the house is expecting you, allow me to take you to her.”
She bowed to him ever so slowly and gently, though something seemed a tad off about her to Soarin’ like she was tired or spaced out. He took one last look over his shoulder, out in to the garden path and bright skies behind him, before looking back at the maid as she stood up properly.
“Oh thank you miss, that’s very nice of you.”
He gave her a smirk as he stepped past the threshold, the cool air of the manor rushing across his fur as he zipped down his jumpsuit to get some air. The inside of the manor was lit warmly, gold shimmering lit bounced across the polished white marble walls, magical candles floated about the mansion giving every nook a cozy, magical haze. Gold trimmed art, and exotic plants of every hue crowded the hall he followed the maid into, it was a truly decadent miasma of excess wealth on display. Each step of her heeled hooves echoed in the massive, arched hall as they passed between two curving staircases up to a set of black double doors adorned with gold polished so brightly, Soarin’ could see himself in it. The Maid opened the doors, to reveal a dining room ready and set with silverware for at least 50 ponies, Soarin’ was beginning to realize the sponsor must’ve thrown some absurd figure at Spitfire to warrant this kind of private meeting. The Maid guided him to the end of the table, pulling out an ornately carved chair for him, which he gladly sat down in, sinking into the heavenly silk covered cushion.
“The Mistress of the house will be here shortly, Master Soarin” The maid took her place, standing beside the head of the table.
“Err…. You can just call me Soarin’ if that’s okay.” He said, giving her a warm smile, hoping to get her to warm up.
She idly blinked a few times, her golden eyes focusing on nothing in particular, which did not in fact, make Soarin’ feel any better about this.
“Right…. That’s…. Normal.” He muttered quietly, trailing off.
He looked himself up and down quickly in his reflection on the silver platter before him, fiddling with his mane. Part of him felt a tad underdressed or somehow unprepared for this meeting, it didn’t quite sit right with him, but he chalked it up to anxiety as the moments dragged on, the only interruption to his thoughts being the mechanical ticking of a grandfather clock about 20 feet away. He hated being left unstimulated for so long truthfully, if he wasn’t physically in the clouds, he was mentally there, he began to run through his flight patterns and the latest tricks the team was working on.
“It’ssss so nice to meet you in person, Sssssoarin’” A feminine voice said behind him, nearly causing him to jump.
He turned his head to the left and saw a truly odd creature he’d never seen, or imagined existing before. A dark blue earth pony mare, at least waist up, but her midsection gave way to a long trailing snake body coiling under her that she slithered on. Her predatory green eyes were framed perfectly by the sandy blonde bangs of her mane, she was equal parts alluring and terrifying. He realized he was easily staring too long without responding, and he wasn’t about to blow this deal, he extended a hoof with a hearty smile to the mare.
“Oh, you startled me! It’s lovely to meet you, miss..?” He laid on some of his roguish charm, tilting his head up confidently, raising a brow as he looked her over once more.
“Sssserpentia” She said, her forked tongue passing her lips.
She slithered to the head of the table, stopping at her chair.
”Serephina, if you would.” she said with a smile at the Pegasus maid, whom snapped to attention from her daze.
“Of course, mistress.” She said as she pulled out the chair, the long body of the snake coiling around the legs while the mare part sat in the seat.
“I must thank you for coming all this way to meet with me, you see I am quite the adoring fan of you.” Serpentia spoke, leaning in, hooves on the table.
“Oh? Well I’m flattered Miss Serpentia, and I’m very thankful not only for your hospitality, but also your sponsorship of the team.” he said, easing up in the chair.
“ Oh, team? Haha, not quite, I want to ssssponsor You, which is why I asked for you ssssspecifically. I quite enjoy seeing your performances when I’m in the area.”
“Regardless, We all still appreciate it, and I love to meet my fans. I can sign some pictures for you, or any merch you want, or we can just talk about flying, my life, your life, whatever!” Soarin’ said, beaming with excitement.
“Oh I am quite the fan of you, I plan to pay nearly 1,000,000 bits for this visit, and nearly the same for every game where I can get some private time with you.” Her eyes practically undressed him with that last statement.
