Rejection

Harvest Moon had just turned fifteen and was thumbing the want ads looking for a job. She just been taken back to the Canterlot orphanage known as "Forsaken Angels Orphanage" her anger landed her back at the orphanage after she beat up her foster family's sixteen year old son.
During her job search Harvest Moon sobbed. From her hoodie pocket she withdrew a bottle labeled as anti-depressants and pulled two plastic capsules and popped them open. The substance was cocain and she snort the material and threw away the capsules.

From when she arrived at the orphanage to the present she has been rejected about thirty-five times. Harvest Moon looked at the paper once more and saw an ad that stated that it paid well and that food and housing was provided for. Harvest Moon looked through her clothing and tried to make it work out for a cute outfit for the interview. The head of the orphanage would do what she could to help the older kids get a leg up in society.
The orphanage head, Miss Melody Heartstrings had a daughter who would spend her weekends there with a friend and the pair would join the other orphans in shenanigans from pranking the cooks to attempting a sport. Melody Heartstrings daughter Lyra and her friend Bon Bon were polar opposites and yet similar. The pair took a liking to Harvest Moon since day 1 when Harvest Moon showed up at the orphanage.
Harvest Moon now trudged to the head's office to be interviewed by potential foster parents; she figured that she would be turned down again. When she arrived at the office Harvest Moon saw a couple and one child about her age. The son looked bored and when he saw Harvest Moon he immediately pointed out the scar Harvest Moon had on her left cheek from a fight earlier that week.
The potential foster family or potentially a forever family asked questons and Harvest Moon answered as honestly ad she could manage. Finally the parents walked into a side room and talked with Melody Heartstrings. Harvest Moon and their son Sagebrush sat alone. "So how did you get that scar?"
"I was in a fight alright! I lost my cool and slugged a guy...he was talking trash about me being a hybrid. So what that I am a pegasus with all of that type of advantage but I have the strength and advantages of an earth pony."
"I see....as far as I am concerned we pure blooded unicorns don't have those problems. Being a hybrid means that you won't be able to teamed with the light weight pegasi because you have more strength than speed than a normal pegasus and the same for earth ponies because you have those wings which can be used as an asset." Sagebrush kept hurling facts and insults and Harvest Moon tackled him and Sagebrush kept talking. "Bitch!"
The parents ran in with Melody Heartstrings on their heels. It was only two minutes for the skirmish and Harvest Moon had more injuries than she should have had. Sagebrush's horn glowed and a shield was up and floating shards of magic aura swirled.

Two Weeks Later

Harvest Moon sat in chair with other people her age applying for the same job and all were mostly middle class kids with their parents. Harvest Moon was nervous because her newest wounds still showed. The family she was applying to work for were related to Chancellor Neighsay. The father appeared with the chancellor and in tow was the son Prince Blueblood.
Harvest Moon looked at the others and their name brand attire or more stylish attire. During the interviews however Blueblood acted bored and was on his phone the whole time. Harvest Moon realized that the young man was taking notes. When her turn came she cautiously walked forward. "I see you've been alone for most of your life."
"Yes sir, that is correct. I know that I'm last on the list, well considering that I see you have my folder and must have seen the records abut my anger and all the fights I'm in."

Blueblood had stopped taking notes and was tilting his head and trying to figure this girl out. Here was a girl who had signs of being dominant and yet was holding back on her confidence. "Quit this shit show! Come on Harvest Moon let the real you show itself you dumb whore! "
"Son you will not speak like that in this setting!" Harvest Moon in her anger leapt up and tackled Blueblood. Harvest Moon froze as she was about to start swinging.
"My lord...I just blew this job opportunity!" Harvest Moon now knelt in front of Blueblood, "I beg forgiveness for losing my temper. I just gotta figure something out. I need a job."
"So the real you won't take trash from others and I saw that in your records that you have been rejected like thirty-six times - father I like this one for the job." Harvest Moon looked up and couldn't believe her ears. "Besides when my older sister returns she can have her fun with Harvest Moon."
"Son this lass almost broke your nose and wanted to smash your face in....and yet you want to hire her?"
Blueblood's mother looked concerned but gave her approval.

Harvest Moon packed her few belongings and traveled with Blueblood to the family home. The rich kids on the block didn't see her as an equal but made comments like she was property. There were when Harvest Moon looked around about eleven girls who she could tell were from different social classes hanging out in front of of sweets shop.

"Today Harvest Moon when we're in public you will address me as 'my lord' or some equilavant title and your food and housing will be provided for. You will have a wardrobe of attire assigned to you and a cellphone and a laptop for school and tablet as well. Furthermore, there is a spare bedroom adjacent to mine and you'll be sleeping there. Technically your my personal maid, but if your behave I'll treat you like an equal."
"Yes my lord" Harvest Moon was feeling a tad scared and imagined the worst her duties might include.
"I sense you're still struggling with those rejections? At any rate miss, you're safe here." Harvest Moon felt the pain of the rejections because she was always told that she'd never amount to anything. The latter felt under-dressed in her white blouse and navy skirt which came above her knees. Her flat pumps on her feet had small scuff marks from when she kicked a guy in the stomach with a round-house kick. The servants in the house were dressed fashionably and yet casually and comfortably. Life might be okay here Harvest Moon thought to herself.
