Dawn's new day.

“Has anyone seen Mango?” Star Song asked the group of fellow Thestrals in the castle’s suite they had been given to share. After she found out Dawn was not completely thestral she wasn’t quite sure how to feel about it so wanted to talk with her sister.

“Sorry Star, it looks like she already went off on her own with that other colt.” One of the mares replied without a hint of concern.

Star was upset that none of them were worried about her sister and stomped out into the hall. A few guards gave her a look but didn’t stop her. The Thestrals were currently guests of the princess so had access to all the ‘non-secure’ spaces.

“First Dawn isn’t a true Thestral and now Mango leaves me.” She scuffled her hoof on the polished floor. The excitement of leaving Vespertilio had quickly worn off during the day of traveling. She sighed, “And I still haven’t even gotten to meet his mate.”

Flutterbat swooped low over the town of Ponyville during the night, patrolling her territory. Fluttershy had smelt something familiar yet unsettling during the day, so thought it best to go out into the town tonight to look around.

When she reached the town square her wings almost locked up in shock. “Another thestral?” She spoke under her breath but she could tell the other filly heard her by the flick of her ear.

Mango looked up and squealed in delight. She had been walking the sleeping town alone after her encounter with Pinkie to clear her head. “Oh my gosh.” She flew up to greet Flutterbat with a smile. “I didn’t know Ponyville had another thestral.” Mango’s eyes then went wide. “You must be Dawn’s mate! He told me about you when he showed up at our colony.”

Flutterbat nodded slowly. “I am, and you are?” They both landed near the fountain to talk more easily.

“I’m mango.” She said proudly. “Cheese Sandwich brought me here to Ponyville and invited me into his and Pinkie’s herd.”

Fluttershy/bat we’re both confused as Mango wasn’t making much sense to her, she had no idea Pinkie had a colt friend let alone a herd or what colony she was referring to. “Um would you mind explaining. If that’s ok with you?” More of Shy’s voice came through as she asked the newcomer. “Also is Dawn okay?”

“Sure, and Dawn is fine. He should be back up at Canterlot castle by now.” Mango smiled and began telling Flutterbat the story from her perspective.

Forest Breeze leaned back and glared at the stack of papers that remained to be filled out on her desk.

“Breezy come to bed already.” Pear had walked into their shared office in the Farmhouse.

“I can’t without getting all this done.” She motioned towards the adoption paperwork for a certain filly with her wing. They had decided that as a fellow pegasus she would be listed as Scootaloo’s primary parent within the herd and as a result Forest had taken it upon herself to fill out the paperwork. Even when adopting Unfettered Into the family they hadn’t had to fill out quite as much paperwork since she was already of age.

“Fine but you’re letting me help you.” Pear wrapped her tail around Forest’s while sitting down next to her. Pear then grab a form on the herd’s financial status and began filling it out.

Forest was about to argue then looked closer at her partner. Pear looked just as tired as she felt but without Morning Dew around or word on their colt’s status yet, neither could sleep.

“Thanks.” Forest leaned against Pear who was happy to return the affection with a kiss on her cheek.

“Any time.” Just as Pear was about to pick the form back up a letter flashed into existence and landed on their desk. “It’s from Morning.” Pear picked it up and read the contents with a smile. “Looks like Dawn is safe and sound in the castle and will be getting a small guard detail.”

“Thank Harmony.” Forest relaxed and let out the breath she had been holding as Pear was reading.

The two shared a loving nuzzle then dived back into the paperwork with renewed energy.
