Celestia set down the newspaper upon her bedroom’s coffee table next to her finished breakfast and sighed. She knew members of the press were often in attendance during court proceedings ‘just in case’ but this was a bit out of hoof. I still think we should have outlawed them years ago.Free speech is a cornerstone of the nation, even if you’re not exactly wrong.

“At least they like him.” Imago finished reading the second article as the two of them laid on the couch watching over Alicia. “It is a very nice piece about how the town was getting rebuilt and how it might become a common disaster relief tactic.”

“Yes but now I have to assure everypony that he is not my foal.” Celestia rubbed her face with her hooves and leaned against her partner.

“So Dawn isn’t my brother?” Alicia looked up at her mother from where she was reading a story book on the floor. Since she didn’t need to eat much, Alicia had decided to skip breakfast and read instead, though both of her mother’s ambient love was more than filling.

“No, he is not.” Celestia assured her daughter. Sitting back up and causing Imago to frown from the lack of contact.

“Oh good.” Alicia went back to reading and Celestia decided she wouldn’t question it further.

Imago on the other hoof smiled stood up and gave her daughter a friendly nuzzle after setting her own paper aside. “In either case how is he dealing with the news?” She stretched out after laying on the couch for so long.

“Just fine, as far as I can tell. Twilight and Trixie have remained supportive and I’m glad they all have each other.” Celestia stood up to stretch as well before using her magic to clean up her remains of breakfast. Since she and Imago had taken the day off to spend with their daughter none of them were in a rush.

“That’s good. So what are we doing today then my lovely princess?” Imago draped herself over Celestia and nipped her ear.

Alicia, following her mother’s example, bused her tiny wings and jumped onto both of them while laughing. “Yeah what are we doing today moms?”

“Well…” Celestia tapped a hoof to her chin, easily able to hold them both even with only three legs. “How about we just walk the city and see where we end up?” It wasn’t often she got to just walk her own city.

“You really should have seen this coming.” Imago tittered as Celestia sighed.

“I really should have. At least Alicia is having fun.” Celestia looked around at gap between her family and the ponies of Canterlot. They were all keeping a respectable distance from their princess out of awe and, a fear of the small guard unit trailing behind them or flying above.

“Moms, look.” Alicia excitedly motioned towards a large store before running over and pressing her nose against the glass display filled with colorful toys, her tail wagging happily. “It’s so pretty.” The ponies around them could help but ‘daw’ and Imago swore she heard a camera clicking.

Celestia couldn’t help but smile at her daughter’s adorableness. “Well, why don’t we go inside?”

The workers and other shoppers were stunned when they spotted who was walking through the front doors. It only took a moment for the owner herself to rush over and bow politely with everypony else quickly following along. “Princess. What can we help you and your…” the unicorn mare hesitated. “Family with today?”

“Rise my little ponies.” Celestia internally sighed but kept it well contained inside her mask. We should have gone out in disguise. Is one normal day as ourselves too much to ask for? “We are just…”

Imago who had had enough of her partners emotional turmoil all morning, stomped her hoof. “All of you get up right now! Celestia and I are taking the day off. So no bowing.”

The adults all looked unsettled and shared glances while standing up as the guards backed off with lowered ears and went back outside to wait. The foals however recovered quickly and rushed the princess before they all began asking questions of both her, Imago, and Alicia.

“How did you get such big wings?”

“Can I be a princess someday?”

“Is the princess really your mom?”

“What’s it like living in a castle?”

“Are you two really getting married?” The fillies all got starry eyed.

“Are you here to buy some toys too?” The last filly began pulling on Alicia’s hoof and leading her the direction of the stuffed animals she wanted to show off.

The foals quick turnaround soon calmed their parents and the mares began apologizing while Celestia gave Imago a loving nuzzle. “Thank you.” The display warmed everyponies hearts further and their visit soon turned into an impromptu playdate of all the foals visiting the store.

“That was so much fun!” Alicia buzzed her wings almost knocking her new stuffed zebra off her back. “Do you think we can go again soon I want to see all my friends again.”

Imago giggled at her daughter’s question. “You will be starting school soon so you may see some of them there.”

Celestia couldn’t have been happier. She had spent the morning talking with other mares about raising foals, city gossip, and had been treated like everypony else. Even now, her guards had backed off and the ponies around were no longer staring.

“I will be? But what about my sisters?” Alicia was worried they might be jealous she got to spend today with moms and go to school. that was why she made sure to pick out toys for them as well which her mother Imago was carrying.

“Don’t worry little one.” Celestia nuzzled her daughter. “All of you, along with Spike, will be going to Canterlot Kindergarten close to the castle.”

“Yay.” Alicia’s toy finally fell off her back as she pranced in place. “Ops. Sorry Ms. Stripes.” She picked up her new friend in her sputtering magic and brushed her off before putting the doll on her back. “There you go.”

Celestia couldn’t help but wonder how she hadn’t yet outlawed cuteness as a weapon.

“So how does it feel not teaching?” Imago asked as they got settled at their table. They had found a quiet cafe for lunch and had decided to sit outside, primarily because both herself and Celestia were too tall for the inside tables.

“It’s not that strange, as you probably know I’ll often teach a few classes then it’s back to princess business. You have been with me for quite a few years now.” Celestia gave Imago a sly smile while Alicia was busy playing with her new doll. Both had to pause the conversation as their waitress came over and took their orders.

“Yes, but it never hurts to ask. I’m an emotivore not a mind reader.” Imago rolled her eyes but still grinned back. “And I may have been close by but we weren’t ‘together’ all those years.” A slight frown crossed her muzzle.

Celestia lovingly grabbed Imago’s hoof from across the table. “Well we have plenty of years to come.”

As the two gazed lovingly at each other the moment was ruined before they could kiss by a small burp from Alicia. “Sorry. I’m feeling full.”

Both her mothers began laughing right as their orders arrived. Today wasn’t so bad.

Another few camera clicks went off and surrounding ponies giddily watched their lovely princess happily sharing lunch with her love bugs.
