The New Normal
Best Medicine
Previous ChapterNext ChapterRemedy devoured her ice cream cone before they were five steps from the snack vendor cart. She squeezed her hind legs together so that they rubbed as she walked. Cadance kept her own frozen treat inside the wrapper as she floated the day's collection of shopping parcels with her and the trio migrated toward the playground.
Cadance squinted at an upcoming sign as they approached. "Twelve years and under. Huh… well, enjoy the time you have left with it, honey."
"Mom, we're the empire's royals," argued Flurry, gesturing with her cone in the air. "Who's going to stop us?" She spread her wings proudly. "If I want to play on the playground right now, I'll play on the playground... Of course we'd pay if I broke anything," she added.
Cadance rolled her eyes. "We also have our own playground at the castle where we can do what we like without it being a public spectacle," she droned.
The two moms sat with their shopping haul at a shaded bench beneath a spreading tree. Remedy turned to the playground where a hooful of other foals all younger than her, frolicked and shouted exuberantly. She hurried beneath one of the big play structures where she sat on her haunches in the mulch to rub a hoof between her legs as a strange agitation began to smolder inside of her and on her most sensitive parts.
Though their seat was secluded, Cadance looked around cautiously to make certain that no one else was nearby. It was rare to be both without Shining and also have her daughter's undivided attention.
"So… any new stallions catch your eye at the last galla?" chimed Cadance with an almost hubristic optimism.
Flurry licked a swirl around her ice cream and grunted cynically at her play. Here she goes again, she thought. Mother's biannual push to get her to settle down in a conventional relationship.
"No," she shrugged.
"What about outside of the pony race? So many great creatures out there… Griffons, yaks, dragons, oh, a dragon could be fun to get to know."
"Mom, those are all really grumpy creatures, and I know what you're doing."
Cadance sighed frustratedly at her predictable rebuff. It was the same story every time. She wasn't even looking at other stallions for fun, or at least wouldn't ever admit to doing so. She had almost a religious devotion, honoring what she had with Shining as if she'd taken a blood oath at the altar. Flurry and Shining had both fully embraced their life of sin together and she aspired for nothing beyond living in a castle with her sister daughter and fucking her dad.
Shining's miscalculation all those years ago had culminated in stunting her emotional growth and trapping her in a preternatural cave where she found easy comfort and acceptance. She saw no reason to step out, take risks or get hurt and that was a reflection of their efficacy as parents.
Cadance methodically removed the wrapper from her bar with her magic and floated it into a nearby trashcan. "You know, ponies already think it's weird that a beautiful, eligible twenty-five year old mare hasn't even dated anyone."
Flurry screwed up her face skeptically. "Luna and Celestia are like a jillion years old and you don't see them dating or getting married, even after retiring."
Cadence clenched her eyes shut. "Ugh. Okay, fair point but you know what else Luna and Celestia don't do?" She shot a strained expectant gaze at her daughter as she waited for her to connect the dots but they just stared into each other for an awkward moment in what she suspected was just another deliberate stonewalling tactic.
"Listen, you're a princess which means you can demand the highest caliber of mates and you should take advantage of that. You don't have to waste your time sifting through the dregs like so many commoners. I've got a whole catalog of handsome, high profile… well endowed guys and they will trip all over themselves to get in line for you."
"But, I just don't see the point," shrugged Flurry in earnest. "Dad is everything I want in a stallion all rolled into one. How could I possibly find a way to replace what we have? You chose the best."
Cadance rolled her eyes. "Did I?" The fact that they were even having this conversation at all was a point against that claim.
"Flurry, your father's getting older; he can't keep up with the needs of two alicorns."
A cold drip of melted ice cream landed on Flurry's thigh. She opened her mouth to speak but no words came out. Her mother was right about that and the implication gave her unexpected pause. Her forehead creased with genuine concern. Shining wouldn't be around forever… and then what? Flurry recoiled from the thought as if she'd found a snake in her bedsheets. She tried to push that issue to the back of her mind and distract herself with something more immediate and less melancholy.
"Well, I mean," she fumbled weakly. "Maybe we can make a schedule for now for taking turns with dad."
"I don't want a schedule," blurted Cadance defiantly with a mouth full of ice cream bar. "I want my husband back. I want you to transition to a normal, sustainable relationship with a non relative. Hell, if you want to fill the void with an amazing, purebred husband, random nightly encounters at a shady bar or a crack team of in-house concubines, I don't care at this point. But whatever it is, just get your own. I will move mountains to set you up with whatever it takes to make you happy, just please-"
"It's not like… I took him away and he's gone. What about Remedy?"
Cadance sighed and looked up to see her granddaughter pacing in tight circles near the climbing wall. "Remedy's fillyhood is fading and she deserves a real father."
"She already has one."
"She doesn't know that and with any luck, never will. If you find-"
The two quickly stowed their conversation as Remedy shambled back to join them.
"I don't feel well," she grunted.
"What's wrong?" asked Flurry, finally finishing her cone of ice cream soup.
"I feel really hot and agitated, especially around my labia." She decided to omit having a strong urge to cram something, anything deep inside her vagina to see if she could find an off switch. "Is this what going into heat is like?"
"Oh, I bet that's what it is," gasped her mother. "Same age as me."
"Well, I'm not enjoying it at all."
Cadance's blood turned to ice as flashbacks of Flurry's first heat filled her brain. Walking in on her husband, his cock lodged in their young daughter, spread eagle in a field of his cum. The accidental pregnancy. The transformation of Shining and her into incestuous perverts. What if…
As if reading her mind, Flurry spoke up. "It's really uncomfortable for alicorns but don't worry, sweetie," she winked. "I know just who can fix this."
Cadance's eyes bulged. No. Not Remedy. She clamped a hoof over her daughter's mouth while the filly stared quizzically for elaboration.
"What the hell are you thinking?" she whispered. "That should be the last resort, not the first!"
Flurry offered a muffled protest that she was certain was highly inappropriate for mixed company.
"Family meeting, now," growled Cadance. - - -
"I would be open to calming her heat if it's really bad just like I did with Flurry," shrugged Shining from the loveseat.
Cadance suspected as much but hearing the words straight from his mouth filled her with fresh terror. She paced nervously across from the two degenerates. "And get another twelve year old daughter pregnant too?" she scoffed.
Shining frowned. "Come on, Cadance, that one time was a fluke," he assured her.
"Natural born alicorns have much more intense first heats than made ones do," argued Flurry. "We know that now; that's why you can't understand."
"That's irrelevant," grunted Cadance. "Your methods are still unsound. I don't want her to end up a fixture in some sort of sister wife… daughter harem."
"Nothing like that is going to happen," laughed Shining dismissively. "You're overreacting."
"No, I'm not," she snarled. "That's the same shit you told me last time and now your daughter is your second wife… At least on paper I'm still number one."
"Cay, you're not in competition," he put gently. "Our relationships are different and my feelings for you haven't changed."
Cadance was milliseconds away from veering off topic to force Shining to explain how his relationships with them were different in any meaningful way but instead shook her head dubiously. "Say what you want about that but this kind of behavior is a slippery slope and we all have the receipts."
Flurry frowned, feeling personally attacked by the remark. "Listen, we are her parents and it's ultimately our decision how to handle this."
Those words felt like a dagger in Cadance's heart. Her husband's child with another mare. It was out of her jurisdiction. She was a better parent than either of them. Flurry was beyond the pale here. If they were anyone else, they'd never get away with this.
"You say that like what you're proposing isn't a felony and overwhelmingly frowned upon by society," Cadance retorted coldly.
Flurry and Shining exchanged glances as if having a serious private meeting via telepathy.
Flurry threw up her hooves. "Okay, fine. We can go through all the song and dance of trying conventional treatments but when it gets bad and nothing else does the trick, I don't want her to suffer needlessly for as long as I did. It's not like we're going to force her into doing something she doesn't want to do. If she really wants to tough it out, I guess that's her choice but we will suggest a gentle rutting session with Shining as an option to her. Deal?"
In a sane world, it would have been off the table entire. Cadance said nothing for a long while. They'd become so unreasonably detached from what was normal. This was just shallow placation for her. They had no desire to take the right path; they wanted the quick and easy way that would screw up Remedy the same as it did Flurry and now she was helping continue the cycle. They were going in looking at it as an inevitability.
"I can see it's the best I'm going to get," she grumbled in finality. "But don't even bring it up until the end." - - -
The three girls returned to town immediately under Cadance's insistence and paid a visit to the pediatric drug center. They scoured the estrus aisle before sitting down for a MagiColt fitting. Cadance scoured it, as least. As she predicted, she was the one most proactive about finding non destructive solutions and though Flurry was the mother of the filly in question, she was a mare who'd relied on unorthodox practices for practically her entire reproductive tenure and was not well versed in the realm but she knew that her daughter needed her.
The two moms sat on a bench once more as they waited for Remedy to come back with a verdict.
"We should put out a royal proclamation," proposed Flurry Heart, excitedly.
"But you hated it when I did that to you," scoffed Cadance.
"Well… yeah… but it's not for me this time."
Remedy stepped out meekly from behind the privacy curtain. "I think this is the best size for me," she sighed, levitating her choice MagiColt in the air in front of them. It was the standard, clinical, light gray abstracted phallus with a slight arc, a tapered tip at one end and the more anatomical blunt one at the other.
Flurry's eyes popped when she beheld her daughter's pick. The girth was hefty but not completely outlandish for a filly her size. It was the length that really stood out.
"So you're an E-17 then?" she marveled, recalling that she'd ended up with a D-9 for her first one.
"I guess," shrugged Remedy, unable to infer the meaning of her mother's doubtful tone.
"Are you sure?" she asked. "You got that whole thing inside you?"
"Yes."
Cadence and Flurry exchanged astonished glances. Somehow she already had the depth of an adult sized mare.
