Howl of Friendship
Chapter 3
Previous ChapterNext ChapterThat night, the three ponies thought about what they learned about the night guard and the possible roles they each might play. And as the sun rose the following morning. A hint of normality shown as one pony got a not so uncommon visitor.
The front door of Rainbow's cloud home bursted open as a stallion bursted in. "I got some amazing news Rainbows. We're going to be roommates!" He called.
At the announcement, the sound of a plate smashing came from the kitchen, followed by a loud, "WHAT!?!?!?!?!".
"Flutter's place is being fixed up a bit and she suggested I stay with one of our friends. So I thought. Who would be a better fit than my girl, Rainbow Dash." He explained as he made his way to the kitchen.
"I am not your girl." She growled.
"Not yet." He countered. "But you know our customs. We don't want to disappoint our parents. Do we?"
Rainbow Dash took a deep breath before turning to face Zephyr Breeze. "Look. I'm running out of ways to say this. But there is no way in Tartarus that I will be your girl."
"Oh come on Rainbows. You know you love me."
"That is one of the reasons why." She spat. "You're so full of yourself that you can't take a hint. I'll admit that I can be full of myself at times. But at least I have what it takes to back up what I claim. You're all talk and no show."
He smiled and leaned closer. "Then how about I show you right now? We don't have to wait for-"
CRASH
Rainbow stood with her hind leg extended before looking at the newly made wall in her home and the stallion laying in a crumpled heap on her front porch. "I'd rather eat pie." She huffed before making her way over to him. "For the record. I only put up with your shit because of Fluttershy. Not any more."
"But…"
"If you ever want a chance to have my respect. You better start learning how to be a stallion worth my attention." She sighed. "Till then. Stay away from me. Or the next kick will break more than just a rib." She warned, glancing at his crotch. "Though I doubt there'd be much there to begin with."
Zephyr gulped and flew off leaving Rainbow Dash to try and fix up her house.
Meanwhile, Twilight and the stallion sat at town hall looking through some homes for sale. "You realize I'll need a job too… right?" He asked. "Not that I'm not grateful for the help. But how will I afford any of these?"
Twilight thought for a moment as she looked him over. "Well… I can use some help with my research on different matters… places, potions, spells… I can pay you for the help."
"What about Spike?"
"Spike… he's been looking for any excuse to get out of the house to… be a guy. So you'd be doing him a favor." She laughed. "Oh… this one looks nice." She pointed out as she picked up one of the papers. "It's close to my place. Built with pegasi in mind. A good price. And you'll have an extra room for when you have company over. I'll get the paperwork started."
"But what about…" He started before seeing her happily trot off. Letting out a sigh, he smiled and shook his head. "Well… at least I'll have a job and place to sleep."
Hours passed as ponies went about their daily life while the stallion got used to his new home. He didn't fully know why. But he felt uneasy about the forest. It was strange for him considering it was once a place he felt he could truly be himself. But now he felt like it was dark and strange.
Sitting at a window facing the forest, he wondered out loud. "I wonder. Is it these Timberwolves I heard about that has my furry on edge? Or does this forest just don't like my kin?" He let out an aggravated groan. "This would be much easier if I knew more about this world."
Just then a knock came from the front door as a unicorn filly stepped in with a confident smile on her face. "You must be the stallion my mom said she saw talking with the princess. I'm Diamond Tiara. I thought I should come and lend you my support."
"Oh? And how would you do that?" He asked, wondering to himself why he had a sudden urge to eat her.
"Because us high class ponies should stick together." She replied. "Don't want any common filth tarnishing the bloodline. Am I right?"
"Oh… mystery solved." He thought before smiling and shaking his head. "Sorry. But you're a bit too young to be talking like that. Go on home and tell your mother if she wants to find a stallion for you. Aim for one closer to your age."
"But all the boys my age are commoners." She huffed. "They'll never be able to-"
Before she was able to finish, he was in her face. "Never underestimate the lower class. I've heard stories of nobles that did… and it didn't end well for them."
She gulped and stepped back in fear. "What… What did the commoner do?"
"In one of the nicer stories? They switched places. But in most… the noble died." He replied. "Alone." He moved away from her and turned to leave.
Biting her lip, Diamond thought for a moment. "Take me as your concubinage."
"What?" He asked in shock as he looked at her. "Why?"
"You have close ties with the princess. Obviously. If you took me as a wife. I can stay in Ponyville." She explained. "I won't have to be handed off to some useless noble who's in it for a title or my family's business. I'm young. So… you can have another wife and I'll be your second."
He rubbed his chin in thought for a moment. "Let me think about it. Go tell your mom if she's ok with it. Then come talk to me."
Diamond nodded and turned to the door. Pausing as if to think if she should say more before saying something to somepony outside and rushing home.
Narrowing his eyes, the stallion went to the door and sniffed the air as he looked around only to find a single orange feather that was coated in sorrow. "That family will be in for a rude wakeup call." He huffed before going inside with the feather to write a letter.
Dear Twilight:
I have a few things to ask…
Author's Note
Looks like a lot of things are happening. And even more are on their way. I wonder how they're going to handle what is yet to come. lol
I do have one thing planned. But most of what will happen involving the ponies of Ponyville is as of yet to be decided.
