//-------------------------------------------------------// Howl of Friendship -by Conato- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 1 //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 1 "Ouch ouch ouch." A young man groaned as he slowly sat up and looked around. He didn't know what hit him, or where he was. All he knew was… "I am definitely not making it home before dark." Taking a deep breath he scanned his surroundings for any clues to which way civilization was. But all he saw were trees. "Ok… maybe this is a cervical test…" He told himself before looking himself over. "Silver band on hoof check… wings look good…" Blinking he did a double take. "Wait. Hoofs? Wings? WHAT'S GOING ON!!!!" Putting a hoof to his chest he quickly started to hyperventilate. "Ok, breath. I need to stop panicking and analyze my situation." Taking a few deep breaths he looked himself over again. "Ok. I apparently turned into some kind of winged horse after… whatever it was hit me… and I'm in some kind of forest." He thought for a moment before looking at the sky through the trees. "And it looks like I have time to find a way out of here before it gets too dark." With a nod of confirmation, he got up and started down the only path he saw. "I can only hope that wherever this path leads has food. I'm starving." As the sun started to set the young now colt emerged from the forest. Stopping for a moment to check his band, he smiled and took his first step toward the nearest house when he heard a voice. "Don't y'all take another step whippersnapper." An elderly voice warned. Blinking, he looked over to see an old mare holding a crossbow in her hooves. "Sorry?" "Don't play dumb with. I know what you are." "You do?" He asked, tilting his head in confusion. "You're a Timberwolf!" Blinking, he laughed it off. "I'm afraid I don't know what you're talking about." "There you are granny!" Another voice called, as a blue mare with a rainbow main flew down. As soon as she saw the crossbow she sighed and turned to the stallion. "I'm sorry about this. Granny thinks the Timberwolves are trying to sneak into town." She laughed. "She thinks they found a way to mask their scent and change into ponies." "Really? Do you think it's possible?" He asked. "Nope. You can smell them coming. And trust me. The smell alone will make you want to run." The blue mare laughed. "Name's Rainbow Dash, by the way. Head of the local weather team, element of loyalty, fastest pegasus in Equestria and recently appointed guard of this town. And this is Granny Smith… she's the head of the Ponyville Apple family and owner of Sweet Apple Acres." "Nice to meet you…" He replied before thinking for a moment. "I was wondering something… there was an old legend in my home town. I was wondering if you might have heard about it…" "You'd have to talk to Twilight about that stuff." Rainbow laughed. "Unless it has something to do with Daring Doo or pegasi stuff. I won't be much help. Sorry." "It's fine. Can you introduce me to her? I don't mind waiting till tomorrow if-" "Sure thing." Rainbow interrupted. "Knowing her. She's probably still awake reading." Turning to lead the way, Rainbow motioned for him to follow before calling back to Granny. "And you should get back home! Next time I'll send Big Mac to get you!" The walk through town was mostly quiet as she kept her ears on a swivel. "Not a fan of flying?" "Out of practice." He lied. She shrugged and started to hover in reverse as they made their way down the street. "So. What's the legend about? Something awesome I hope." "Well… you know. The usual stuff. Creatures of the night… things that lurk in the dark…ponies that turn into wolves… that sort of thing." He replied. Rainbow thought about it for a moment. "All but that last one is a common thing…" She sighed. "It's the reason I took the job as Ponyville's night guard." Turning back to face the path, she tapped a hoof to her chin. "Although… I don't know if turning into a wolf would be all that great." "Crap, she heard that." He thought before asking. "Why not?" "Think about it. Wolves eat meat. It'd be kinda hard to hide that fact in a town like this." She replied. "True." He admitted. "But… What if you can eat both meat AND plants? All you'd have to do is keep the meat hidden." Rainbow smiled. "True. But the smell would still give it away. It's one of the reasons why Timberwolves are so easy to identify." "Because they eat meat?" "I wish that was all they did." She groaned. "Twilight said they're made of dark magic. Mixing living flesh with trees. The older they get. The more rotten the smell… or at least that's what the egghead thinks." "And you?" Rainbow huffed. "They turn other creatures into one of them and use US to reproduce." Looking up she smiled. "We're here… and she's up." Not giving the stallion a chance to comment, she flew over and opened the door. "HAY TWI! GOT A MINIT?" "What is it, Rainbow?" A mare replied from her desk. "I have very important research to finish." "You can do that later." Rainbow laughed. "I found someone I think you're going to like." Taking a deep breath Twilight sighed. "Fine. Let them in. What do they want?" "Know anything about ponies turning into wolves?" Rainbow asked. "Maybe a legend or some ancient power lost to time?" Twilight thought for a moment as the stallion came in and found a seat on the couch to watch from the sidelines. "Not exactly…" She replied, rubbing her chin. But that would help explain a few things." "What do you mean?" He asked. "Just that Luna's guards were rarely mentioned. And the numbers were never confirmed." She replied without regarding who asked. Turning to her book she smiled and continued. "In fact. Several mentions say her guard had powers and some were even great beasts. There are so many contradicting statements that most were seen as false claims. But if we consider the possibility…" Rainbow sighed and landed next to him. "Here we go again. She's going off on one of her rants again." "Should we do something?" He asked. "Not really. Either, Spike will show up to snap her out of it. Or she'll come to her realization and notice us." She replied with a shrug. "But at least we have the answer you were looking for." "Yeah. It's possible they're real." He agreed before his ear twitched at Twilight's words. "... and if her guard had kids, it's possible that ponies today might be able to change and not even know it. But there's no telling who has the…" The two looked at each other before Rainbow got up "SPIKE! I NEED YOU TO SEND A LETTER!" Author's Note This is one way to return to writing. Lol can't wait to see where my brain decides to take this one. //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 2 //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 2 It surprisingly didn't take long for a reply to come. However, instead of a scroll, the front door burst open as Luna rushed in. "Apologies for the door." She announced quickly as said door fell from it's hing. "I shall have it replaced. Now explain why you think my guard still exists." Rainbow looked at the stallion before turning to Luna. "He heard stories and after hearing Twilight's rant…" The three turned to Twilight and saw her still talking as she made notes. "I see. That explains it." Luna sighed before using her magic to turn Twilight around. "Princess! When did you get here?" Twilight asked in shock. "It's nice of you to join us, Twilight. Your friends were just explaining why you wanted to know about ponies turning into wolves." Luna sighed with a knowing smile. Rainbow snickered at the sight of her friend blushing. "So it's true?" She asked. "Yes. While my sister was in charge of matters of the day. I was placed in charge of the night." Luna explained. "I knew it was too much for one pony to do. So I gave the safety of different towns to my guard. And using magic that was taught to me, I gave them powers that activated under the glow of my moon and fell dormant under my sister's sun." "But… if you had ponies that were active at night… Why did you turn into Nightmare Moon?" Twilight asked. Sighing, Luna looked to a window. "It is because I allowed myself to lose touch. Of my guard… of my sister… my subjects… and myself." She shook her head for a moment before turning to the others who were now sitting on the couch patiently waiting for her to continue. "A part of me always feared it would happen. So I gave the guard one order. Pledge yourself not to me, but my night. That with it you will protect our subjects from that witch hunts them." Twilight thought for a moment. "And when you were banished… they continued in secret." "I hoped they did. But as time passed… it seems they have lost their way as well. Those that have the gift, do not know it." Luna sighed. "Is there a way to find them? And wake the power up?" Rainbow asked. "There is." Luna confirmed thoughtfully. "But they would need a new leader. My guard was divided into two groups. The bat ponies that most are familiar with. And the wolves. Though the bats you see me with nowadays are merely a glamor spell my sister and I perfected as kids." She giggled. Twilight thought for a moment. "How would we find them? And who should be the alpha?" "Within the castle in the EverfreeForest is a secret passage that I made. And only those with the gift may enter. If you see a pony you think has the gift, you can see if they can find and enter it." Luna suggested. "No offense princess. But don't you think that's a bit risky?" Rainbow asked. "Isn't there another way to find them?" Luna rubbed her chin thoughtfully with a smirk. "There is one way. But we will need somepony that already has the gift in order to find the others." "And do you know anypony that has the gift? Or any family lines that have it?" The stallion asked. "There is one name that comes to mind." Luna replied. A pegasus stallion who once had the ability to see a grain of rice in a field of flowers from on top of the castle tower." "That sounds awesome!" Rainbow cheered. "Sounds familiar." Twilight mused. "Do you know his name?" The stallion asked. "I believe it was… Solar Beam." Luna replied. "Wait…" Rainbow gasped. "That's my ancestor's name." Luna smiled. "Then I suggest you go to the castle and find the passage. There you will learn how to waken the power inside." "And what about this alpha deal?" Rainbow asked. "That is a good point." Twilight agreed. "How will one be picked?" Luna thought for a moment. "Last time it was the first couple I chose as my guard… this time around. I suspect it will be the first to awaken their power. As for their mate. I suspect those that have yet to awaken will seek to be your mate. By any means possible." Rainbow gulped. Then I should probably head out before the news gets out too much." She laughed nervously before making her way out the door. Sighing Twilight got up and after finishing her notes, she made her way out the door. "I should go make sure she's ok." The stallion sighed as Luna waited till they were alone before turning to him. "I sense the power of the night in you, young one." "Oh? I… Don't know what you mean." He laughed. "Fear not. I shall not tell them your secret." She sighed before moving to the door. "Though… I suggest you find somepony you can trust with the secret." She took a deep breath and sighed. "Do not let the secret pull you into the darkness." "Are you sure they'll expect me?" He asked. "I can not say. But if it makes you feel better. I won't see you as any less noble." She explained, smiling at him. He thought for a moment before fidgeting with his band. Thinking for a moment he sighed. "Can I…" "Whenever you need it. I will be happy to be there and lend an ear." She told him. "It is of course my duty to look after my subjects' dreams. So fear not. I will be there for you as well." Smiling, he bowed. "Thank you princess." "For now. Get some rest. Tomorrow will likely be a busy day for you." She suggested, before leaving. Looking up at the moon, he let out a soft sigh. "Long day? More like a long week. I smell trouble coming." Author's Note A part of me wonders how soon I should start the drama. Or how long it should be before they get to the passage. //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 3 //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 3 That night, the three ponies thought about what they learned about the night guard and the possible roles they each might play. And as the sun rose the following morning. A hint of normality shown as one pony got a not so uncommon visitor. The front door of Rainbow's cloud home bursted open as a stallion bursted in. "I got some amazing news Rainbows. We're going to be roommates!" He called. At the announcement, the sound of a plate smashing came from the kitchen, followed by a loud, "WHAT!?!?!?!?!". "Flutter's place is being fixed up a bit and she suggested I stay with one of our friends. So I thought. Who would be a better fit than my girl, Rainbow Dash." He explained as he made his way to the kitchen. "I am not your girl." She growled. "Not yet." He countered. "But you know our customs. We don't want to disappoint our parents. Do we?" Rainbow Dash took a deep breath before turning to face Zephyr Breeze. "Look. I'm running out of ways to say this. But there is no way in Tartarus that I will be your girl." "Oh come on Rainbows. You know you love me." "That is one of the reasons why." She spat. "You're so full of yourself that you can't take a hint. I'll admit that I can be full of myself at times. But at least I have what it takes to back up what I claim. You're all talk and no show." He smiled and leaned closer. "Then how about I show you right now? We don't have to wait for-" CRASH Rainbow stood with her hind leg extended before looking at the newly made wall in her home and the stallion laying in a crumpled heap on her front porch. "I'd rather eat pie." She huffed before making her way over to him. "For the record. I only put up with your shit because of Fluttershy. Not any more." "But…" "If you ever want a chance to have my respect. You better start learning how to be a stallion worth my attention." She sighed. "Till then. Stay away from me. Or the next kick will break more than just a rib." She warned, glancing at his crotch. "Though I doubt there'd be much there to begin with." Zephyr gulped and flew off leaving Rainbow Dash to try and fix up her house. Meanwhile, Twilight and the stallion sat at town hall looking through some homes for sale. "You realize I'll need a job too… right?" He asked. "Not that I'm not grateful for the help. But how will I afford any of these?" Twilight thought for a moment as she looked him over. "Well… I can use some help with my research on different matters… places, potions, spells… I can pay you for the help." "What about Spike?" "Spike… he's been looking for any excuse to get out of the house to… be a guy. So you'd be doing him a favor." She laughed. "Oh… this one looks nice." She pointed out as she picked up one of the papers. "It's close to my place. Built with pegasi in mind. A good price. And you'll have an extra room for when you have company over. I'll get the paperwork started." "But what about…" He started before seeing her happily trot off. Letting out a sigh, he smiled and shook his head. "Well… at least I'll have a job and place to sleep." Hours passed as ponies went about their daily life while the stallion got used to his new home. He didn't fully know why. But he felt uneasy about the forest. It was strange for him considering it was once a place he felt he could truly be himself. But now he felt like it was dark and strange. Sitting at a window facing the forest, he wondered out loud. "I wonder. Is it these Timberwolves I heard about that has my furry on edge? Or does this forest just don't like my kin?" He let out an aggravated groan. "This would be much easier if I knew more about this world." Just then a knock came from the front door as a unicorn filly stepped in with a confident smile on her face. "You must be the stallion my mom said she saw talking with the princess. I'm Diamond Tiara. I thought I should come and lend you my support." "Oh? And how would you do that?" He asked, wondering to himself why he had a sudden urge to eat her. "Because us high class ponies should stick together." She replied. "Don't want any common filth tarnishing the bloodline. Am I right?" "Oh… mystery solved." He thought before smiling and shaking his head. "Sorry. But you're a bit too young to be talking like that. Go on home and tell your mother if she wants to find a stallion for you. Aim for one closer to your age." "But all the boys my age are commoners." She huffed. "They'll never be able to-" Before she was able to finish, he was in her face. "Never underestimate the lower class. I've heard stories of nobles that did… and it didn't end well for them." She gulped and stepped back in fear. "What… What did the commoner do?" "In one of the nicer stories? They switched places. But in most… the noble died." He replied. "Alone." He moved away from her and turned to leave. Biting her lip, Diamond thought for a moment. "Take me as your concubinage." "What?" He asked in shock as he looked at her. "Why?" "You have close ties with the princess. Obviously. If you took me as a wife. I can stay in Ponyville." She explained. "I won't have to be handed off to some useless noble who's in it for a title or my family's business. I'm young. So… you can have another wife and I'll be your second." He rubbed his chin in thought for a moment. "Let me think about it. Go tell your mom if she's ok with it. Then come talk to me." Diamond nodded and turned to the door. Pausing as if to think if she should say more before saying something to somepony outside and rushing home. Narrowing his eyes, the stallion went to the door and sniffed the air as he looked around only to find a single orange feather that was coated in sorrow. "That family will be in for a rude wakeup call." He huffed before going inside with the feather to write a letter. Dear Twilight: I have a few things to ask… Author's Note Looks like a lot of things are happening. And even more are on their way. I wonder how they're going to handle what is yet to come. lol I do have one thing planned. But most of what will happen involving the ponies of Ponyville is as of yet to be decided. //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 4 //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 4 The stallion sat in a chair of Twilight's study as the mare passed in thought. The questions asked weren't exactly difficult for most to understand. But as he mentioned about being from another land, she had to think of the best way to word it. "You see…" She started before cutting herself off. "The truth is…" taking a deep breath she sighed. "She has a point. Considering the number of males compared to females. It would make sense if you took two or even three females as your mates." She stopped for a moment to think. "Come to think about it. I knew a stallion who had ten mates. Oddly enough he only had one kid… not for the lack of trying, of course." "So you think I should take her up on her offer?" He asked. "That's up to you. She isn't wrong about your status either." Twilight replied. "It's obvious the princess sees something in you. And Diamond Tiara's parents won't be the only ones that will be interested in trying to win your favor." Taking a deep breath he sighed. "I just don't like this." "What part?" "The nobility part. Trouble is coming. And I have a sinking feeling that if they get involved, it'll be a lot worse." He admitted. Twilight thought for a moment before turning to him with a soft smile. "Then I suggest growing your contacts before it arrives. Studies show that things go a lot smoother when you have more friends there to support you. I suggest talking to them about your worries. And if it helps. You already have six mares who are willing to be there for you. And I know at least two brothers and a dragon who will be there too." Taking a deep breath he smiled. "Thanks Twilight… I think I'll take your advice. For now. Maybe I should go see one of those friends now." Twilight nodded and watched as he made his way past a guard who was struggling to fix the door. "And I'll…" She sighed. "Keep an eye on the guard so he doesn't hurt himself." Zephyr gulped as he made his way through town. He hated the fact that the one mare he wanted didn't feel the same way for him. He hated that she expected him to work when she clearly had the skill and body to bring home the bits. And he hated how much others looked up to her. As the thought crossed his mind, a new one joined it. Others did look up to her. Some even wanted to be like her. If he was able to make that work to his advantage… maybe he'd be able to convince her to be his girl. Or at the very least, he'd be able to turn one of her fans into his ideal mare. Zephyr licked his lips as a few plans came to his mind at the sight of one such fan with her friends. He had to act fast and carefully. If he didn't do this right, he'd end up in trouble. But if he waited too long. Then somepony else would definitely claim what was his. "Are you excited about the ceremony?" Zephyr heard the unicorn ask. "Yeah. I heard that the princess has a special announcement." The earth pony replied. "Hay Scoots. Ya think your parents will be there?" "Doubt it." She sighed, unaware of Zephyr hiding nearby. "They're too busy with work." "Maybe you can get Rainbow's parents to take you." The earth pony suggested. As Zephyr heard Scootaloo agree eagerly, he slipped off to put his new plan into action. Mission, get the mares to fall for him was ago. Rainbow sat on her porch and looked out over the EverfreeForest. She knew going in was dangerous. But finding the passage would help Ponyville. Then again… there were a lot of dangers between here and there. But she did make the trip several times before, so she knew she'd be able to find it. But once she did, every male with the gift would be trying to become her mate. Rainbow let out an aggravated groan and shoved her head into the cloud. She REALLY hated to think hard about things like this. She was more used to just doing and worrying later. But now… she had more at stake than just her pride. Taking a deep breath, she closed her eyes and sat up. What really mattered right now wasn't the risk of going or not. It was why she should go. That was simple. The Guard. She was going to bring back the night guard. And if she didn't? Somepony else will. Possibly somepony with less than loyal intentions. Nodding to herself, Rainbow stretched and prepared herself for the journey that awaited her. Forget being a Wonderbolt. She was going to be the captain of her own elite team. Ironic as it might be. But Rainbow considered using the name Nightmare Moon had for her team. After all, Rainbow's team would be working in the shadows. "Look out, would. I'm about to start THE SHADOWBOLTS!" Luna sat at a table of the castle library as she looked through old records of ponies she knew. She hoped there'd be some clue as to who would have the gift that she gave her first guard. Sadly, several of the guards had gone missing or into hiding soon after she was put in the moon. And several others never had kids. "Not surprising." She thought. "I did suspect that one mare had a thing for my sister." Sighing, she looked over some that included the elements of harmony. "That's interesting. Pinkie was never registered like her sisters. I wonder…" She mused. "Oh?... Pegasi still practices that?... I didn't know unicorns did that…" She mused as she looked over the records. "Perhaps the elements were preparing for much more than my return." Looking out the window she thought. "Perhaps I should ask her for some advice." She sighed and looked at her papers. "But asking HIM for help is risky…" getting up she huffed. "SISTER! I NEED TO TALK!" She called before mumbling. "Talk me out of asking for his aid." Author's Note Things are happening. And it seems like trouble is coming a lot sooner than the new stallion thought. I wonder what will happen and how this will affect the friendships in town. //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 5 //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 5 The stallion stopped in the square and raised an eyebrow at the sight of a suspicious looking stallion. Curious about what he was up to, he followed the yellow haired stallion into an alleyway before ducking out of sight to listen as the stallion talked with a cloaked figure. "Are you sure this plan will work?" The yellow haired stallion asked. "Yes. And don't worry. When the time comes. You will have every female you wish. Just make sure her dad drinks it." The cloaked figure instructed. Taking a deep breath, the young stallion stepped out from behind cover and… "Hi I'm Pinkie." A Pink mare announced as she appeared in front of him. "My Pinkie sense told me to come and stop you from making a mistake…" He blinked at her before looking past her at the now empty alley. Huffing, he glared at her and opened his mouth to speak before having a hoof shoved into it. "No time for that. We need to get to Sugarcube Corner. My Pinkie senses are telling me it's super important." She instructed before scooping him onto her back and bouncing down the street. Before he realized it, she had brought him up to her room and tossed him onto her bed. "What?" Was all he was able to get out as she giggled. "Try not thinking about it too hard." She giggled before crawling on top of him. "There's a lot you should learn to just go with the flow on." Tilting his head in confusion he sighed. "Fine. But I have one question… Why don't you smell like cotton candy?" Blinking, she pouted and tied his hooves in place before hopping over to the closet. "Ok… you win. He can live. But the boss still gets first dibs." She hissed. Scootaloo giggled as she made her way to the local balloon. She felt excited about visiting the home of her adopted family. And with Fluttershy's brother there to accompany her, there wasn't much of a problem about her leaving town. "Are you ready to go Zephyr?" She called as said stallion approached her with a smile. "Definitely." He replied, lifting her onto his back. "Now let's go before… they start wondering what's taking us so long." He laughed before taking off. Rainbow sighed as she landed at the edge of the EverfreeForest and looked back into town. She didn't know if going alone was the best idea she had. But she didn't want to risk dragging her friends into danger. That and she didn't know what would happen to her when she found the passage that the princess told her about. "Hay Rainbow. What's up?" A stallion asked. "Hay Flash. Just deciding on what I should do…" She replied before blinking in shock and turning to the stallion. "Flash Sentry? What are you doing here?" "Cadence and Shining Armor are visiting Twilight. And I was asked to tag along. So while they were in town. I thought I'd see what's going on." He replied before turning to the forest. "Were you thinking of going in there alone?" "Technically… yes. But I have my reasons." She sighed. "Why didn't you ask one of your friends to join you? Or one of the local Wonderbolts?" He asked. "It's complicated. I don't want to put my friends in danger and I can't ask the Wonderbolts to join me and not tell them about it." She sighed before sitting on her flank. Blinking, he sat next to her. "Is there anything I can do to help ease your burden?" Her eyes narrowed as she spotted movement in the sky. "Yeah. Ask Soren to keep an eye on Zephyr." Flash blinked and turned to look where Rainbow was facing. "Wow… you have really good eyes… where are they going?" He asked, trying to make out the small ponies flying off. "Home." "I'll deliver your message. So wait here." He told her with a smile. "When I get back. We can go on your mission." "Flash I told you-" "It's my job to protect civilians. No question asked." He announced before flying off. Letting out an amused huff, Rainbow smirked at him. "Seriously. Why hasn't he just asked her out already?" Luna sat with her sister as the two stared at Luna's notes. "You see sister?" Luna asked. "This gap in the records shows it. Somepony has tampered with our records. They are plotting something. Or YOU have lost them." Celestia sighed. "Perhaps… it is possible that the records were stolen. But why only these six?" "What I find most interesting is that the records show seven new families form around the same time." Luna added. "Do you think?... something had forced my guard into hiding?" "Something… or someone…" Author's Note Things are spicing up nicely. Don't worry. Soon the action will begin. And then maybe blood. //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 6 //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 6 The female opened the closet revealing an old looking white stallion with an unkempt main and bushy tail. Smiling, he patted her head and thanked her in a deep Gruff voice. “You have completed your contract little changeling.” She huffed and revealed her true form and looked back at the stallion for a moment before turning back to the old stallion. “What about the boss? You sure we won't get in trouble?” “No. He's different.” He snapped. After a moment of thought he smiled as he got closer to the stallion. “He smells like…” Pulling back he blinked and turned to the changeling. “Quick. Tell the others the time has come.” He ordered before rushing out the room after releasing the stallion. Blinking, the changeling and stallion looked at each other before she asked. “So… Any idea what that was about?” “No… and why is a changeling helping a pony?” He asked. “Long story. But it's better than working for that self-righteous queen.” She replied with a sigh. “But it looks like you're off the hook.” “And what did you mean by the boss?” “Oh… that… well… they were looking for a pony To breed… And experiment on.” Thinking for a moment a smile came to his face. “Well… if I knew the qualifications… I might be able to help.” With a smile the two sat and planned on how they'd find the “perfect” pony. Scootaloo and Zephyr arrived at a small cabin. Zephyr set her down and stretched. “Let's take a break here Scootaloo.” He sighed. “I need a rest before we head out again.” Scootaloo went up to the door and looked back at him. “How long do you think it'll take?” “A few days.” He explained. “You don't mind do you?” “I guess not.” She replied hesitantly. “But I kinda want to get back to town and crusade with my friends.” She sighed as they made their way inside. Zephyr smiled as an idea came to his mind. “I know one way you can get your cutie mark.” Scootaloo stood in the room and looked at him in confusion. After a few moments, her eyes widened as he shut and locked the door. “Zephyr?” “This is just to make sure nothing comes to try and attack us.” He explained making his way over to a dresser. “I think there should be a few artifacts here that we can use…” Scootaloo looked around as her confusion and concerns grew. As Zephyr passed her a circlet. After a brief moment, she put it on. Seeing this, Zephyr smiled and tapped his hoof on the ground causing the jem to glow and cause her body to freeze up. “Perfect. Looks like the spell actually works.” Zephyr laughed. “Too bad I wasn't able to convince Rainbows to be my girl.” He let out a huff before turning to Scootaloo with a device smirk. “Then again. Perhaps I was going at this the wrong way. I can have her number one fan as my girl.” He laughed before licking her neck. “That is if you rather convince Rainbow to be my girl instead.” Scootaloo gulped as she looked at him realizing her limited options while trapped in her own body. Rainbow paced back and forth at the edge of the EverfreeForest as she mumbled to herself about letting Flash Sentry join her. “Honestly, if I had to take anyone with me. I would prefer Flash Magnus. Now that was a pegasus.” She moaned as her wings shivered in excitement. She froze as a thought about him and another stallion making out popped into her head causing her wings to shoot open. “Why did I suddenly think about that?... and why was it soo… Hot?...” Just then, Sentry landed with an exhausted smile. “Message delivered.” He panted before noticing her strange expression. “Is something wrong Dash?” Rainbow jumped and turned in shock before sighing. “No… just thinking over rather or not to actually let you come with me.” “I told you Dash-” “Yeah I get it.” Rainbow sighed. “look. Once we get there. You stay outside and keep watch. Got It.” “Yes mam.” He replied with a smile stealing a glance at her flank. ‘After all… Shining would kill me if I tried it with Twilight.’ He thought. It wasn't long before they came across a white stallion sitting in the path glaring at several pieces of paper. “Now which way was it to them?... wait… is this before or after the girls started the school?” He muttered. “Before.” Rainbow answers. “You look familiar.” “I get that all the time.” The stallion replied, scooping the paper into his tail. Turning he blinked at the two ponies and rubbed his chin thoughtfully. “Now that I look at you. It makes sense.” Smiling, he went up to Flash. “And word to the wise.” his eyes narrowed As their eyes met. “Look outside the group. Understand?” “No…” Taking a deep breath, the stallion moves to his ear. “Just a warning. If you keep down this path. Obey, or you will suffer.” The two watched as the stallion hummed and made his way down the path a few feet before chasing a squirrel and shouting about some kind of Nut Job. Flash and Rainbow look at each other for a moment before Rainbow sighs and turns back down the path. “Great. Now there's two of them. Let's go before he remembers something.” Twilight smiled softly as her brother and foalsitter laughed about another of her fascinations. Or as most would call them. Obsession, considering how she hasn't stopped talking about the oddities that she had witnessed and the roomers that have been traveling across town. Twilight stopped for a moment and looked at them as they smiled at each other before turning to her. “what?” Twilight asked. “I think it's time we had a talk.” Cadence sighed. “There are some things… only nobles know about the age of the lonesome sun.” “you mean?... the time after…” Twilight gasped. “Nightmare Moon.” Shining sighed with a nod. Spitfire slammed a hoof on her desk as she glared at a letter Soren left before going to Ponyville. Taking a deep breath she told herself. “Murder is a crime. He's the brother of one of the elements. There are better punishments you can come up with later.” Smiling, she looked out the window. “Besides. Lover boy gets his turn first.” Author's Note Looks like things are getting spicy. I wonder what other none ponies are going to be secretly working in Equestria. And it seems that Rainbow is giving her new future more thought. Probably something to do with the whole couple thing. And what's with the two weird stallions that arrived? Thoughts?
